Hello my name is John M. and my daughter Mia goes to KinderCare in Rancho Cucamonga. I wanted to email today to let you know that all the staff at KinderCare is doing a fantastic job caring for and teaching Mia. Mia was at another local preschool and I felt it was not doing such a good job with her. I met with Natilee at KinderCare in February of 2014 and felt that she and the school had a warmer approach of teaching children. I enrolled Mia immediately and was very pleased with her firsr day at the school. The staff was very patient and loving with Mia; she was having a tough time because this is her first year attending preschool. Mia has improved so much since the day she started at KinderCare. My wife, Liz, and I are really pleased with the results that KinderCare in Rancho Cucamonga … More

I remember enrolling my three children into KinderCare from our first phone call to our tour, my family and I knew this is where we seen our future. My sons who were new to a school environment took some time transitioning compared to my daughter who is in the second grade. Nonetheless the center director who my family and I refer to as a friend, took the time to guide not only my children but me husband and I as well. It was not easy but I could reassure you this learning center will listen to your families needs (all of us are different) take the extra time to help each child adjust and learn and also keep us as parents in the loop of our children’s journey. I cant thank KinderCare Terra Vista enough for changing my families lives.

Historic Highway 66 (US 66), also known as the Will Rogers Highway, “America’s Main Street” and “Mother Road”, is one of the symbols of the United States. It was opened on November 11, 1926 years, but full asphalt pavement appeared only ten years later. The highway starts in Chicago, runs through the states of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and ends in California. The total length of the road is 3,940 km.

In John Steinbeck’s novel The Grapes of Wrath, the Joad family, Oklahoma farmers, preparing for a trip to California, packs all their valuables in an old $50 car and slaughters two pigs to feed 14 people during the trip. Of course, a person of the XXI century will consider that this is too much. However, you need to understand that many places on Highway 66 are remote from civilization, so you need to take a supply of food, drink and fuel with you. Having refueled at one station, the next can be met only after more than 100 km. This is especially true for the western part of the road. Repair shops are also rare, so before the trip you need to make sure that the car is in excellent condition and do not forget to take a spare tire. There will be no problems with housing: there are motels all along the road. Road signs are a rarity: tourists often take them with them as souvenirs. The best time to travel is from mid-May to mid-October.

Day One: Chicago to Springfield, Illinois

Chicago → Cicero → Joliet → Gardner → Dwight → Pontiac → Chenoa → Bloomington-Normal → McLean → Atlanta → Lincoln → Williamsville → Sherman → Springfield

In Illinois, Highway 66 is clearly marked. It originates from Lake Shore Drive (Route 41) and Jackson Boulevard in Chicago, and passes Sears Tower (when this building was built in 1974, it was considered the tallest building in the world). Museums dedicated to the history of Highway 66 are located in Berwyn and Pontiac. After passing through several small towns, you can grab a bite of classic burgers at Drive-in Steak & Shake, located on the border of Bloomington and Normal. Dixie Trucker’s Home will meet in McLean – the world’s first roadside cafe – a truck stop.

Day two: Springfield to St. Louis

Springfield → Litchfield → Mount Olive → Staunton → Hamel → Edwardsville → Mitchell → Missouri border → St. Louis

Ariston Cafe is located in Litchfield, the oldest cafe on Highway 66. After the city of Edwardsville, you will meet Mustang Corral, a store that sells Ford Mustang cars. This place is especially popular among French tourists. The highway passes over the Mississippi along the Chain of Rocks bridge. In St. Louis, go for ice cream at Ted Drewes Frozen Custard.

Day three: from St. Louis to Springfield, MO

St. Louis → Eureka → Pacific → Gray Summit → St. Clair → Sullivan → Bourbon → Cuba → Rosati → Rolla → Doolittle → Jerome → St. Robert → Buckhorn → Sleeper → Lebanon → Phillipsburg → Conway → Vance → Marshfield → Strafford → Springfield

There used to be an Osage Indian tract on the site of this section of the highway. There are many cities in the USA with the name of Springfield, including the fictional one where the Simpson family lives. Travelers may be confused by the fact that Highway 66 runs from Springfield, Illinois through St. Louis to another Springfield, Missouri. In Cuba, you can stay at a motel1930s Wagon Wheel Motel. In Fanning, it is worth seeing the world’s largest rocking chair, listed in the Guinness Book of Records. On the way from St. Louis, Roll will meet the Meramec Caves, where Jesse James, the famous 19th-century criminal, was hiding.

Day Four: Springfield to Oklahoma City

Springfield → Halltown → Paris Springs Junction → Spencer → Phelps → Rescue → Plue → Avilla → Cartagia → Carterville → Webb City → Joplin → Kansas border → Galena → Riverton → Baxter Springs → Oklahoma border → Commerce → Miami → Afton → Vinita → White Oak → Chelsea → Foyle → Claremore → Catusa → Thulsa → Oakhurst → Sapulpa → Kellyville → Bristow → Depew → Stroud → Davenport → Chandler → Warwick → Wellston → Luthor → Arcadia → Edmond → Oklahoma City

A sign hangs in the central square of Springfield announcing that this city is the birthplace of Highway 66. In Oklahoma, such settlements as Miami and Florida will meet, but the landscapes here are by no means reminiscent of this tropical southern state. Rock Café, opened in 1939 in Stroud, houses a collection of memorabilia from the Pixar animation studio that created the Cars cartoon. Another highway 66 museum is located at the former gas station in Afton.

Day five: from Oklahoma City to Amarillo

Oklahoma City → Bethany → Yukon → El Reno → Hydro → Weatherford → Clinton → Foss → Cunut → Elk City → Cyre → Eric → Texola → Texas border → Shamrock → Macklin → Jericho → Groom → Alanreed → Conway → Amarillo

Oklahoma City is home to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. In Stockyards City, you can visit the cattle fair and buy a cowboy hat. Other points of interest on this section of the trail include the Barbed Wire Museum (McLean), the world’s largest crucifix at nearly 60m high, and the Leaning Water Tower (Groom).

Day Six: Amarillo to Albuquerque

Amarillo → Bushland → Wildorado → Vega → Adrian → Grulkey → Glenrio → New Mexico State Line → San Jon → Tucumcari → Santa Rosa → Moriarty → Edgewood → Albuquerque

The main attraction of Amarillo is the Cadillac Ranch – “Cadillac Ranch”. It is an installation of old cars, half buried in the ground with their noses up. Moreover, they are inclined at the same angle as the Egyptian pyramids in Giza. Glenrio is located on the Texas border, a settlement that has almost turned into a ghost town. In Tucumcari, it is worth staying at the Blue Swallow Motel, a motel that opened at 1939 and preserved the spirit of former times. Santa Rosa is home to the unique Blue Hole Lake, the only place in the world where you can scuba dive in the middle of the desert.

Day Seven: Albuquerque to Flagstaff

Albuquerque → Grants → Gallup → Arizona state line → Petrified Forest National Park → Holbrook → Joseph City → Winslow → Flagstaff

Western New Mexico is a mountainous area famous for its beautiful scenery. There are many Indian reservations in the area. There are souvenir shops here and there. In the northern part of Arizona is the Colored Desert, the variety of shades of which is due to the content of iron and manganese in rocky soil. Partially on its territory is the Petrified Forest National Park with trees 225 million years old. It is worth setting aside at least an hour to walk around it. Not far from the road towards Winona is the Barringer meteorite crater, one of the largest in the world. In Winslow, you can spend the night at the La Posada Hotel, where Albert Einstein and Gary Cooper stayed.

Day Eight: Flagstaff to Barstow

Flagstaff → Williams → Chino Valley → Ash Fork → Seligman → Peach Springs → Kingman → Oatman → Topok → California State Line → Needles → Chumbless → Amboy → Baghdad → Cyberia → Klondike → Ludlow → Newberry Springs → Daggett → Barstow

In Williams, you should deviate from the route. To the north, an hour’s drive from here is the Grand Canyon. On the road from Kingman to Oatman, you will meet the ghost town of Hackberry. There is a souvenir shop located in a former supermarket. After Topok, the most dangerous part of the journey begins – the Mojave Desert. Before entering it, one should carefully check the stocks of food, drink and gasoline. Any plants (fruits, vegetables, etc.) are prohibited from being imported into California.

Day Nine: From Barstowdo Santa Monica

Barstow → Lenwood → Helendale → Oro Grande → Victorville → San Bernardino → Rialto → Fontana → Rancho Cucamonga → Upland → Claremont → Pomona → La Verne → San Dimas → Glendora → Azusa → Monrovia → East Pasadena → Pasadena → Los Angeles → Hollywood → Beverly Hills → Century City → Santa Monica

San Bernardino is where the world’s first McDonald’s was opened. The original building has not survived, today an unofficial museum of this restaurant chain has been created here. “On a dark, deserted highway, a cold wind blew my hair,” sings in the song Hotel California by the Eagles. When approaching Los Angeles at night from the desert side, the gleam of city lights can be seen hundreds of miles away. Highway 66 ends at Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica.
