Changing the world, one student at a time

We are a school where children find the joy in learning — and thus make it possible for them to continue learning for the rest of their lives.

To think mathematically.
To solve problems.
To create things.
To encounter great literature that inspires their character development.
To build themselves as capable, efficacious beings.
To place themselves in history and in society.
To spark meaningful friendships and deep personal values that last a lifetime.

Our goal at Guidepost Montessori is to serve each individual child, to help them realize their limitless potential, and the opportunities they will have to create real and lasting change throughout their lifetime.

Hear from our Palo Alto Families

I was apprehensive about sending my kid to a school we had never toured in person but it seemed like a good school. Our child is ahead of her age and her previous daycare while great was unable to challenge her mentally and it was becoming very clear with her behavioral issues due to boredom. So I did a ton of research and looked for something that would suit our child’s abilities and challenge her. The headmaster answered my questions with an understanding I had not seen in several other preschools I considered.

It was one of the best decisions we ever made! Our child LOVES this school. Our kid adapted straight away! He behavior issues also disappeared once she started being properly challenged! The teachers are attentive and patient, they really get to know your child and their individual needs and personalities. They are very transparent and honest about everything that is going on and take proper precautions.

“Our family couldn’t be happier with Guidepost”

Our son has been attending the Children’s House since September 2019, and we’re consistently impressed with the school. From the Head of School to the staff and the students, Guidepost is a genuinely enjoyable place to drop-off and pick-up our son every day. The environment is quietly cheerful, allowing space for students to explore their work and curiosity without distractions. The teachers/guides for the Children’s House are the perfect balance of compassionate and firm with the kids, holding age-appropriate expectations for the children while inspiring them to learn.

There’s careful consideration in all they do, from the attentiveness to students, the families, the school environment, and beyond! Our family couldn’t be happier with Guidepost.

“It truly feels like our extended family”

We enrolled our son last year sight unseen based on the other Guidepost Montessori campuses, and so far, it has met and exceeded our high expectations.
Our son is thriving in the Children’s House and enjoying learning in the Montessori environment. He is always excited to go to school, really enjoys his work, is curious to learn, and continues to be engaged with new concepts.
We love the teachers and the staff at the school – it truly feels like our extended family, with educators who care so much about raising children with grace, courtesy, and empathy. I could not ask for anything more.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
For 75 years, we have offered preschool programs organized primarily for parent education. Parents develop a deeper understanding of early childhood development and parenting skills through adult discussion classes, formal and informal observations, and community exchanges. Our unique participatory structure allows parents to be involved in their children’s preschool education.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

PreSchool Family is a parent education, parent participation program serving families with children from birth through five years. The program is designed to offer parents an opportunity to learn about parenting and to actively participate in their child’s education. For children, the program offers a developmentally appropriate, play-based, educational experience. Parents join their child for one class each week during September – May regardless of the age of the child.

Parent education is the heart of our program and consistent parent participation is required in both the child and the adult classes. We are committed to supporting the welfare of the whole family. Through our program, parents develop a sense of community and strength by working with other parents and their children. We strive to enhance each child’s natural curiosity and love of learning.

We provide opportunities for children to master tasks that are appropriate for their individual level of development. Periods of free play are complemented by more structured small and large group activities.

In order to build strong families and communities, PreSchool Family serves parents and young children in a way that nurtures, respects, and educates all families, cultures, and religions. Each child and each parent is treated with respect for their individuality and unique potential.

How to choose a school in the USA

The popularity of education abroad is growing every year. One of the leading positions in the ranking of countries chosen for education is traditionally occupied by the United States.

The attractiveness of America is due to the democratic nature of the education system. Each state has its own school standards, a huge selection of special schools with a disciplinary bias. Depending on personal beliefs and national or confessional affiliation, it is possible to study at a school supervised by a religious organization or a national diaspora. These include, for example, the American Jewish Academy – American Hebrew Academy.

The secondary education system in America

Boarding schools

Private boarding schools in America are in stable demand.

Why do many choose a boarding school? For a student from Russia who travels unaccompanied by his parents, this option is optimal, since it solves the issue of accommodation. But the main thing is the quality of education, which is guaranteed in such schools. Most of their graduates go on to study at top US universities.

Depending on the preferences and inclinations of the child, you can choose an elite educational institution with high requirements (for example, Admiral Farragut Academy), a small cozy school with a family atmosphere like Besant Hill School, or prefer innovative teaching methods and innovative technologies, like in Cranbrook. The quality of education will be high in any case.

Public and private schools

For foreigners who want to send their child to receive a secondary education in the United States, an extensive network of ordinary private schools is of interest. There is also an opportunity to enter a public school (but only for one year), where education for Russian citizens will cost 4-6 thousand dollars. However, it should be borne in mind that the conditions in public schools are quite specific. A lot depends on where you live. Classes are crowded, there are 20-30 students per teacher, while in private schools this number does not exceed 15.

The range of prices for education in daytime private schools in the United States is very wide – from 5 to 26 (and in some cases – up to 46) thousand dollars a year. In many ways, this variation is determined by regional characteristics: expensive schools are located in the states of Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, and the most expensive is located in the city of Palo Alto in the center of Silicon Valley.

Back to school with Allterra Education — the sooner the better!

Preparing for a child’s trip to study in America should be started in advance – no less than a year before the start of training. When choosing a non-boarding school (public or private, it doesn’t matter), you should take into account the time required to resolve the issue of accommodation and select a host family.

In addition, it is worth thinking about the further education of the child.
