Police raided his home in Mesquite, a small Nevada town located 130 kilometers from Las Vegas. About 20 more small arms were found there (together with only 42 found in the hotel), thousands of rounds of ammunition, multiply charged magazines, and explosive packages. Interrogation of Paddock’s family members did little to help the police figure out the perpetrator’s motives. His brother Eric, in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, said that he could not imagine what reasons prompted the 64-year-old pensioner to arrange a shooting.
