    Eye Candy , USA, 2015
    Genre: detective, thriller
    Season 1, 10 episodes

very, very smart “not for everyone” and purely comedic projects. Such serials were swallowed easily, but with some creaking for the sophisticated public. It so happened that these same series are being released now – a novelty with a controversial translation of “Pleasant to Look” from the prolific producer Jason Bloom is just such a case. A mixture of pretty faces, games on social networks, serial murders and non-committal relationships aims at the younger generation and hits the bull’s-eye.

Cute Lindy (this role went to model, singer and actress with light professional baggage Victoria Justice) has no luck in her personal and social life: first, her sister is kidnapped right in the parking lot, then six months of probation for hacking government databases is replaced by the interest of the serial killer to her leggy persona. This same maniac (to the delight of the public) does not just walk around the alleys with a knife, but looks for pleasant-looking interlocutors on the vastness of a dating site. As you may have guessed, meetings with a maniac outside the virtual space do not end with anything good. After becoming the object of unhealthy adoration for Mr. X, Lindy decides to find the thug in every possible way. Of course, not alone, but in the company of policemen who are deeply in love with the beauty. The beginning of the serial story sounds like nonsense, looks, fortunately, a little more adequate. But only in part.

Emtivish naivety seeps through all the plot holes. By hook or by crook, the scriptwriters try to link any trifle with the plot, but, unfortunately, this only raises more questions. How did an ex-convict get hired by the cops? Where did Lindy get so good at hacking databases? Innocent miscalculations were covered with glamor but not style, good music in the background, but not the hits of your new playlist, actors from whom a caring part of the public will drool, but not unconditional talents. And if in the days of those very youthful doubts such trifles seemed trifling, then from the height of age it will be hard to look at the shortcomings.

But if you scratch behind the ear for dampness and the not fully realized plan of the creators of the series does not work, then for a dynamic plot, from which you always expect a dirty trick (of course, the most pleasant one), you want to throw a brain bone. It is not always possible to cope with the given speeds, but for trying to be intriguers and not slowing down for a minute – a deep bow. Neighbors in the shop have a lot to learn from Nathan Hope, Russell Mulcay and David Platt.

Total: near-horror novelty came out peppy, but requiring something more than one application for the current topic of computer persecution with beautiful, but completely dead actors in the frame. It’s worth looking at the pilot, but decide for yourself whether to eat the brainchild of the MTV channel.

Series “Pleasant to look at” (Eye Candy): autsajderka — LiveJournal

Series and films about maniacs in most cases are banal with standard plot moves and the ending “heroine (hero) in the lair of the enemy” that set the teeth on edge. This series attracted me with an annotation, but I did not count on much. It was interesting to watch the implementation of the idea. Well, there are only ten episodes, it won’t take much time to watch.

It begins with the fact that the heroine’s sister is kidnapped right in front of her eyes. And for three years there was not a word about her. The police did not find anything, and the heroine uses her hacking abilities with might and main to continue looking for her sister, and at the same time other people completely unfamiliar to her out of a sense of solidarity. She even created her own website and organized a search office.

Her skills as a hacker are not shown in the series. She sometimes sits with a computer, inserts a flash drive that she wears around her neck in the form of jewelry, presses the buttons a couple of times, and all explanations of the methods are limited to the words “I cracked the base and found out.” On a network maniac, she also comes out by accident. A friend registers her on the Flirtuality dating site, and she literally stumbles upon his trail. Well, then the traditional “I just know,” which allowed her to connect the victims of unsolved murders with the maniac from “Flirtuality. ” The heroine looks at the murder victim and authoritatively declares “she was registered on Flirtuality, I know for sure, I compared.” Conclusion – that maniac killed her, which means it is necessary to investigate. The heroine decides to meet in turn with all the men from that site, whom she managed to bookmark, naively believing that the maniac must certainly be among them.

Next is the standard obsession of a maniac with a heroine, thanks to which he does not kill her, and nauseating monologues explaining the motives for his murders. Well, at least some psychopathic motive was added to him, that is, not just “you see a woman – kill her.” Besides, he kills men too. A pleasant variety, but does not fit into the logical scheme.

There are a lot of men in the series and almost all of the same type. Because of this, I confused them for the entire first series. As a result, the killer turned out to be stereotyped and not the one I immediately thought of and almost until the last episodes I was sure of his guilt. I was not happy that I was wrong. Because the final version is even worse than my assumptions.

The series is positioned as action-packed, but I prefer a different action-packedness. I do not think that if every five minutes in the series the characters enter empty rooms to disturbing music, look around, and then jump in surprise, then this means action. This will only make you nervous, and even then, after repeated repetitions, it is annoying. Action is an endless interest in the film, the desire to watch and not be distracted by anything, excitement and various plot twists that you do not expect. This series is not action-packed. And not a detective either. Because there are no discussions, no logical conclusions, no chain that would unwind to the killer. Instead, a second line was stuffed into the film – cybercrime and the heroine was placed in the headquarters for help. Accordingly, almost all series focus on some extraneous things that are not related to the maniac. The lines do not intersect, moreover, one of them – cybercriminal – hangs in the air.
