United States Army Officer Pay

Army officers range from paygrades O-1, Second Lieutenant, to O-10, General of the Army. Army officers receive automatic pay raises every one to two years based depending on their paygrade, with lower-ranking Army officers reaching their basic pay ceiling much sooner then higher-ranking officers.

In addition to basic pay, Army officers are eligible for a wide variety of additional payments, bonuses, and allowances. These include hostile fire pay, food and housing allowance, personal money allowances, hazard pay, and more. One-time payments to military contract service

The amount of a one-time cash payment for military personnel who have entered into a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time is reviewed annually. This payment is related to the amount of the subsistence minimum and the minimum wage established as of January 1 of the current year.

Since January 1, 2022, a one-time cash payment to military personnel has been increased, namely:

  • 19144 hryvnia — eight subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons — for privates;
  • 21537 hryvnia – nine living wages – for non-commissioned officers and senior officers;
  • 23930 UAH – ten living wages – for officers.

A one-time payment to military contractors is provided for those who are accepted :

  • for the position of enlisted personnel for a period of three years;
  • for the position of sergeant and petty officer for a period of three years or more;
  • for an officer position for a period of one year or more;
  • for the position of sergeant and petty officer for a period of five years.

The specified payment will also be received by officers after graduating from higher military educational institutions, military educational units of higher education (training of which is carried out under the state order), provided that they begin to fulfill their duties in these positions.

The basis for receiving funds is a report filed by a serviceman addressed to the commander. The report should be written after the entry into force of the first contract and after the start of the performance of the relevant job duties based on the order.
