Dr. Shurov’s clinic will help eliminate childhood neurosis, carry out diagnostics, make an accurate diagnosis, and prescribe recommendations for home therapy.
Childhood neurosis – what is it?
Neurosis is a reversible disorder of neuropsychic activity, accompanied by anxiety of a high degree of intensity. The disorder occurs due to the fact that the protective mechanisms of the nervous system do not cope with a stressful situation.
Neurosis occurs in a child as a reaction to a traumatic event in life. The psyche of children is not fully formed, so they are more susceptible than adults to the effects of traumatic factors.
Acute or chronic stress provokes disorders of the central and autonomic nervous system. Since the centers of nervous activity are responsible for the heartbeat, breathing, emotions, excretory and sexual functions, therefore, disturbances can occur in all these systems.
A failure in the work of the nervous system can externally manifest itself in different ways: the child becomes withdrawn or capricious, shy or aggressive, may refuse or forget how to do what he already knows, he may develop stuttering, panic attacks, urinary incontinence.
Neurosis is a reversible disease that can be treated. In order for the treatment of childhood neuroses to be effective, we recommend that you seek the advice of a child psychiatrist.
Reasons for the formation of
Various factors are responsible for the emergence of neurosis in a child: time and effort. For example, if a child goes to school, attends dance clubs, a music school.
The symptoms of childhood neurosis requiring treatment and the help of a neurologist are manifested in a change in the child’s behavior:
- The child’s inability to stand up for himself.
- Fear of being alone/fear of sleep/darkness.
- Reluctance to play with other children, preference for solitude.
- Causing harm to one’s body (tearing hair, biting nails).
- Shyness, indecision.
- Aggression and uncontrollability, inability to cope with one’s emotions.
- Compulsive, almost ritualistic actions.
A child alone cannot cope with a neurotic state. The help of a psychotherapist is required to make a diagnosis, to prescribe treatment for childhood neurosis based on the data received.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis of “children’s neurosis”, and treatment of the disease is carried out after consulting a doctor. Diagnostic algorithm:
- Examination by a pediatrician to exclude somatic diseases and identify the causes of the disease.
- Consultation with a neurologist to rule out a disorder of the nervous system. As instrumental diagnostic methods, ultrasound of the vessels of the head and neck, EEG are used.
- Consultation of a psychotherapist for the selection of treatment for childhood neuroses. He talks with the baby in a playful way, watching his reaction. If necessary, conduct a survey of parents to exclude a genetic predisposition.
Methods of treatment
It is impossible to cope with neurosis in a child on your own. This is not a character trait, or bad manners, it is a reversible mental disorder that can be treated and can be corrected with the help of specialists. After consulting a doctor in our clinic, the doctor will select a treatment plan for childhood neurosis. There are several methods of therapy:
- Psychotherapy is the main method of treatment that allows you to improve the relationship between the child and the baby, to correct the upbringing of the child. Your doctor may schedule group, individual, or family therapy sessions.
- Drug therapy is only used as an adjunct to severe symptoms. Prescribe nootropics, sedatives, restorative and tonic agents, vitamins and microelements). In severe cases, tranquilizers and antidepressants are used.
- Physiotherapy is recommended as an additional supportive option. Massage, exercise therapy, therapeutic baths are prescribed.
Methods of treatment of childhood neurosis and types of medical assistance in each case depend on the severity of the symptoms. The doctor selects a treatment regimen based on a thorough diagnosis. In the process of treatment, the specialist monitors the dynamics, if necessary, makes adjustments to the scheme.

Reviews about the work of clinic

My brother was 19 when he was hospitalized with an attack in this clinic. Until that moment, similar cases had already happened, but it was scary to go to a psychiatric hospital, the very word psychiatric hospital terrified us. But when my brother got to the hospital, I completely changed my mind. The department was not at all like what I imagined: well-groomed wards, cozy corridors, welcoming and friendly medical staff. A psychiatrist, he picked up effective drugs for the treatment of psychosis for my brother, and besides that, he supported us in every possible way. My brother liked the treatment here. He says the nurses and other workers didn’t treat him like a lunatic, and that helped with his recovery. We have hope for a normal life. Now my brother regularly takes medication, goes to see a doctor, and there have been no exacerbations for a long time. We are very grateful to the psychiatric clinic, thank you very much for your work!
