Employment
Administrative tasks, including facilities management and records and information management, will remain important in a range of industries.
A continuing focus on the environmental impact and energy efficiency of buildings will keep facilities managers in demand. Improving energy efficiency can reduce costs and often is required by regulation. For example, building codes typically ensure that buildings meet environmental standards. Facilities managers will be needed to oversee these improvements in a wide range of areas, from heating and air-conditioning systems to roofing. In addition, facilities managers will be needed to plan for natural disasters, ensuring that any damage to a building will be minimal and that the organization can get back to work quickly.
“Smart building” technology is expected to affect the work of facilities managers over the next decade. This technology will provide facilities managers with timely and detailed information, such as equipment failure alerts and reminders to do maintenance. This information should allow facilities managers to complete their work more efficiently.
Employment of records and information managers also is expected to grow. Demand is expected to be particularly strong for those working in “information governance,” which includes the privacy and legal aspects of records management. As cloud computing continues to expand, records and information managers will have a critical role in helping organizations develop new records and information management practices and in maintaining data security.

Administrative Services Manager: MHA Careers
Administrative services managers are among the unsung heroes of a well-run healthcare program or medical institution. They are responsible for addressing the needs of employees and managers in myriad ways — much of it done out of public view. Healthcare organizations rely on these leaders to ensure that all teams have the resources to perform efficiently and effectively.
Anyone wondering how to become an administrative services manager in the healthcare industry will find that the journey begins with the right training and education. Yet thriving in this profession requires people skills, an ability to effectively manage people, and a willingness to take on the many administrative challenges that arise in day-to-day clinic work.
What Does an Administrative Services Manager Do?
There is no typical day for an administrative services manager, because a big part of the role is responding to unexpected situations. Among the duties of an administrative services manager are the following, according to The Balance Careers:
- Meet with department heads and other senior managers to formulate long-range plans and set objectives, as well as address matters relating to personnel, resources, facilities, and equipment.
- Lead development and training of staff, help set policies, and support special projects.
- Ensure that contracts and other documents conform to policy and regulatory guidelines.
- Represent the organization at conferences and meetings held off-site.
- Assist senior managers in writing and disseminating communications.
WiseGEEK points out that people in these roles also can be expected to interact with clients, customers, and others outside the organization. In addition, administrative services managers frequently handle procurement and records management. Unlike a manager who is responsible for a single department, such as a facilities manager or human resources manager, an administrative services manager has duties that span many departments in the company, and in some cases all its operations.
According to Truity, administrative services managers have a wide range of duties. Responsibilities range from supervising clerical staff, to maintaining computers and equipment, to revising policies so the healthcare facility operates smoothly. Smaller facilities without a dedicated facilities manager may rely on an administrative services manager to take charge of the security of their offices and buildings. Similarly, healthcare organizations that lack an HR manager may turn to an administrative services manager to assist with recruitment, hiring, training, and other personnel matters.
Steps to Become an Administrative Services Manager
The combination of a strong educational background, certification to demonstrate competency, and solid work experience is a formula that can lead to success as an administrative services manager.
Begin with a Solid Educational Foundation
Some positions require only a high school diploma, but a bachelor’s degree or higher is typically a requirement for becoming an administrative services manager, especially those who hope to advance in this field. Earning a graduate degree in a business- or healthcare-related field, such as an online master’s degree in health administration, can put a candidate in an even better position to qualify for a job as an administrative services manager.
Certification Programs Helpful to Administrative Services Managers
Administrative services managers may also obtain optional licenses or certifications, such as the following certifications from the International Facility Management Association (IMFA):
- Facility Management Professional (FMP). FMP certification is designed to give aspiring facilities managers a deeper understanding of topics “deemed critical by employers.” There are no prerequisites, and this certification is suitable for people who have limited experience with facilities management.
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM). The CFM credential is a competency-based certification and is intended for practicing facilities managers. This certification addresses continuing education for experienced managers, and members must complete education and professional development requirements to qualify for recertification every three years.
Other professional certifications that are helpful for administrative services managers are as follows:
- Certified Records Manager (CRM) from the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM)
- Information Governance Professional (IGP) from ARMA International
- Certifications for contract managers from the National Contract Management Association
Gain Experience with Management Soft Skills
Administrative services managers must gain firsthand management experience to develop the people skills they need to keep a healthcare organization running smoothly. Soft skills, such as listening, speaking, and writing, are essential in this role. Direct experience also helps managers sharpen their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
The personal qualities necessary to become an administrative services manager are varied. Administrative services managers must be able to jump from task to task while also paying close attention to the details of each task. They are always analyzing situations to find more efficient ways of operating, yet they are also interacting directly with staff throughout the organization, motivating them and coordinating their efforts and simultaneously listening to the issues they raise.
Administrative Services Manager Salaries
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports the median annual salary for administrative services managers was $94,020 in 2017. Earnings can vary based on factors such as education level, work experience, and geographic region: the highest-paid 10 percent of workers in this occupation earned more than $163,480 in 2017, while the lowest-paid 10 percent had salaries under $52,750. Administrative services managers who can demonstrate mastery of core skills such as managing budgets, operations, people, and projects may qualify for promotions and higher salaries, depending on their employers’ needs.
Growth Opportunities for Administrative Services Manager Careers
The BLS forecasts a positive outlook for jobs in administrative services management. Employment for administrative services managers is on pace to increase by 10 percent, compared with 7 percent for all occupations, between 2016 and 2026. Much of the anticipated increase is the result of organizations emphasizing environmental controls and energy efficiency in their operations. Companies see an opportunity to reduce costs and improve profitability by finding new ways to streamline and modernize their human and machine processes.
The search for efficiency goes beyond facilities management to include records and information management, particularly in the area of information governance, according to the BLS. Organizations anticipate increased regulation of records and other information to comply with new rules relating to privacy. Cloud computing, the internet of things (IoT), and other technologies will transform the way companies collect, analyze, store, and secure their valuable data assets, all of which involve the contributions of administrative services managers.
Rewards of a Career as an Administrative Services Manager
Administrative services managers are leaders who make significant contributions to improving productivity in healthcare organizations. The responsibilities of the position continue to evolve as markets shift, new technologies emerge, and unforeseen challenges and opportunities arise. The dynamic nature of the position could be a reason that many people find it enjoyable: according to PayScale, administrative services managers are “extremely satisfied” with their jobs, rating their job satisfaction 5 out of 5.

Restaurant manager salary, functions and more
Do you know what functions a restaurant manager performs?
Do you want to improve your managerial skills?
The manager is responsible for maintaining the efficient operation of the restaurant, finding strategies to improve its operation, quality, presentation, service and other key aspects of running a food business.
But there are other features that you may not know about. In this article, I will tell you about:
- General functions of a restaurant manager
- How much does a restaurant manager earn
- Various types of restaurant managers
- And I will also give you some tips on how to become a manager.
In addition, I will answer a common question among restaurant owners – should a restaurant owner be a manager?
By the time you’ve completed this article, you’ll have enough information to improve as a manager, find a new manager for your business, or manage your own restaurant.
Do you have what you need?
Let’s find out!
What is a restaurant manager?
A restaurant manager or administrator is a person who is responsible for managing the operation of a restaurant. However, depending on the type of food business, the functions of a manager can vary greatly – as I will explain later.
The manager role can be assigned by hiring a qualified person to manage the restaurant in place of the owner, although this role can also be filled by the owner.
First of all, the manager is the head of the restaurant, he is the one who makes decisions in real time and is responsible for solving problems in the service.
All duties of a restaurant manager
As I mentioned earlier, a manager can perform different functions depending on the type of food business of which he is a part.
For example, the manager of a fast food restaurant performs a completely different function than the manager of a trendy or gourmet restaurant.
The duties of a manager may also vary depending on his knowledge and experience. In some cases, the manager is only responsible for delegating functions, fixing bugs, implementing service improvement strategies, and other activities.
But that’s not all, as he can also perform certain actions depending on his specialty.
A manager can have many skills that can increase his responsibilities in and out of a restaurant, as he can even become the company’s spokesperson for all sorts of events, run marketing campaigns, and more.
Despite this, there are several basic or standard roles that managers must fulfill. I will tell you more about them below.
Administrative functions of a restaurant manager
The functions of a manager in relation to the administration of a restaurant are specific but very important. In some cases, the manager takes care of the administration directly.
The most common administrative functions of this role are:
- Meet the established budget for supplies
- Work with suppliers
- Make sure the restaurant has good stock control or do it in person
- Organize the working hours and schedule of employees
- And make sure best practices are always applied across the various areas of the restaurant to maximize resources and maintain good results.
These are not all administrative functions of a manager, but they are the most common in the industry.
In large restaurants, these functions are divided between the administrator and the manager, if these are separate positions.
Restaurant Manager Marketing Functions
A restaurant manager may also be responsible for implementing or managing marketing strategies, whether digital or traditional marketing.
This is due to the fact that the manager must always maintain a good image of the restaurant.
Most common functions:
- Create and apply marketing strategies
- Strengthen current marketing strategies
- Manage your restaurant’s digital marketing
- Manage your marketing metrics and create strategies to improve them and capture opportunities
- Take charge or delegate social media marketing or SEO activities to a community manager or digital marketing expert.
- Create goals based on a restaurant business plan
- Quickly and effectively solve problems in the restaurant to maintain a good image
A restaurant manager can take on all of these activities if they have experience in digital marketing, traditional marketing, and customer service.
The manager may also appear on social media, videos or images as a representative of the restaurant.
Restaurant manager leadership roles
Leadership of the restaurant manager is critical.
The previous functions are also related to the management of the manager, but the functions of this item will be related to personnel. They are as follows:
- Take responsibility for improving the working environment in the restaurant
- Ensure that the correct processes and procedures are in place for the operation of the restaurant.
- Communicate with employees to motivate, punish, promote or fire them as needed
- Encourage teamwork among different employees
- Answer questions, resolve personnel conflicts and set goals for each employee.
Without a restaurant manager to manage the business and personnel, one can assume that the business will fail.
Customer Service Restaurant manager roles
The manager must also have a proactive approach to customer service as this is the only way to improve the customer experience in a restaurant.
Some related functions:
- Customer comfort in a restaurant
- Maintaining a pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant
- Staff training to improve customer service
- Improving Service Strategies
- Solving problems, doubts, questions, complaints and conflicts with clients
These features are necessary to ensure that customers who visit the restaurant are satisfied with all aspects of service, except for food.
Other functions
Other restaurant manager functions include:
- Taking responsibility for daily, weekly and monthly monitoring of revenues and profits.
- Make sure all kitchen areas are clean and tidy.
- Make sure everything is in order when the restaurant closes. For example, checking taps, gas, electricity, etc.
- Coordination of events outside the restaurant, such as catering services or special events.
- Interview, hire, train and supervise new employees
Depending on the particular restaurant, the manager may have more or fewer functions than those I mention here.
Types of Restaurant Managers
There are different types of restaurant managers depending on the type of restaurant they work in.
They can perform various functions, from the most complex to the simplest, and are also called restaurant managers.
Below I will detail the different types of managers.
Restaurant Managers
Restaurant managers are usually managers who perform basic management functions in a restaurant. A restaurant can even have two managers in charge of running the restaurant at different times.
They have the lowest salaries of all types of managers.
Administrative Restaurant Manager
Some managers must perform administrative functions for the restaurant, which divides their activities into direct control and administrative activities at the table.
Larger restaurants hire these managers to manage accounting, business alliances, and restaurant management.
They usually have an assistant manager who is responsible for directing and supervising staff directly in place of the manager.
Kitchen Managers
The kitchen manager is the one who makes sure everything in the kitchen works properly. This role can be found in some large restaurants such as hotel restaurants.
This type of manager or administrator can also handle inventory, orders, and other costs associated with supplies and ingredients.
General Manager
The general manager is responsible for managing every aspect of the restaurant, from the kitchen to the service provided by the waiters.
This is a very responsible job, especially since it must perform many functions.
Regional Manager
Some restaurant chains have a regional manager role.
They are the ones responsible for creating the chain restaurant procedures manuals, which are then applied by restaurant managers or managers with administrative functions.
This position of regional manager is a little more difficult, as it has almost all the functions of a regular manager, with the exception of direct control in various restaurants of the chain.
In addition, he should be responsible for distributing unique or standardized network products such as some resources, ingredients, and more.
This is a more administrative and strategic position and requires study related to business, business management and more.
Assistant Manager
The Executive Assistant is the CEO’s right hand. He is responsible for performing the same functions as the CEO in his place. However, this is a lower ranking position, since most of the functions are assigned to him by the CEO, who makes the final decision on every aspect of the restaurant. Think of Dwight from The Office.
How to become a good restaurant manager
Being a good restaurant manager requires many skills, practice, study and more.
The truth is that a restaurant manager can combine a wide variety of skills to fulfill his role more effectively.
Here are some characteristics of a good manager:
- Good communication skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Leadership
- Problem Solving Skills
- Good physical condition as they will have to stand and walk a lot.
- Good energy level
- Experience in various areas of the hospitality and service industry
- Administrative studies
- Accounting research
- Marketing and digital marketing research
- Business management studies
- And experience in various restaurant roles such as food preparation or table service.
If you have some of these skills, you can already be considered a good manager.
However, a vital factor in becoming a good restaurant manager is experience . If you do not have experience in human resources management or work in any food or customer service industry, you may not be able to fill this role properly.
I recommend that you read our article on on how to manage staff in your restaurant for more great tips to help you improve your HR skills.
How much does a restaurant manager earn
If you want to become a restaurant manager, you may want to know in advance the approximate amount of expected income. However, it is almost impossible to know how much a manager will earn, since many factors influence the final figure.
Some of them:
- Restaurant location, size, organization and number of staff
- Job duties
- Expected goals of the manager, be it service improvement, staff optimization, etc.
- Manager experience
For example, a new manager in Mexico will not earn as much as an experienced manager in Spain. However, a restaurant manager in Cancun, a very touristy area, can earn more than the same manager in Spain.
Therefore, the best way to find out how much a manager earns is to find out the average salary of the place where you work. You can also use online job search platforms like Glassdoor, newspapers, and even social media to find out.
Should you be the manager of your own restaurant?
Finally, the million dollar question. Many restaurant owners decide to become managers of their own business.
Is this a good idea?
This decision can have many reasons, such as the desire to cut costs, the desire to learn how to do it, and much more.
However, this is a complex decision and should not be taken lightly.
A restaurant requires attention, dedication and certain skills like those mentioned above. So it’s a good idea to hire someone with restaurant management experience.
Even if you have a management degree, restaurant management experience is unique and essential if you want to be successful.
If you don’t have experience, it’s best to hire someone to do it for you, especially if you can learn from them.
If you have experience, then there is nothing to stop you from doing it, as you may have what it takes to do it successfully.
Are you a good restaurant manager?

Economist-administrators and manager-administrators can work in the civil service in all areas of responsibility not reserved for special professions, such as police or tax administration, such as housekeeping and finance, human resources, organization or data processing. Depending on the subject, they participate in the approval procedures of construction projects in the construction authorities, coordinate the planning of transport routes in the traffic authorities, check the environmental impact of the planned waste dump in the environmental authorities, support citizens in difficult social situations in the social departments, organize social housing, promote the preservation of living space and take care of those who seek advice on migration issues. In accordance with the relevant legal and administrative provisions, they prepare decisions or take them themselves. If they have relevant professional experience, they also take on managerial and administrative tasks, such as leading a subject area, group, department, or department.
In the further implementation of administrative reform in customer-oriented service management, administrative economists and administrative managers are designing processes with maximum economy, especially as public services and the private economy are becoming more interconnected. They apply the legal regulations applicable to the respective field of activity, interpret them individually or control the application. In all authorities, from executive authorities to higher and middle authorities and to the ministerial level, they transform the decisions taken into administrative actions. Their economic knowledge – especially in European economic and legal matters – is also in demand in private companies.

Tasks and responsibilities of an Economist-Administrator / Manager-Administrator in detail
What is the essence of the profession Economist-Administrator / Manager-Administrator?
Administrative economists and administrative managers coordinate and manage administrative tasks and processes, taking into account business aspects.
Analysis, concept and implementation
As in economics, the pressure of innovation and cost in the public sector also makes people think about modern concepts of control and encourages the use of economic methods and elements. Governments as providers of services to citizens, as well as parts of the public sector that are privatized or continue as independent units with relocation and responsibility for resources, require common good management using business know-how. In addition, local governments in particular often expose their services to competition and look for cheaper alternatives for existing processes and areas. Administrative economists and administrative managers play a key role in shaping these trends. Thus, economic methods and the relationship between the two areas of the public service and the private economy play an increasingly important role in the fulfillment of their public tasks.
Knowledge in business and economics, law and social sciences, as well as deep specialist knowledge in accounting and control, economic development, urban and regional planning, corporate governance, taxation or social administration are part of this and are used in every department of the state management.
For example, administrative economists and administrative managers in the field of accounting or controlling record all the costs of running a business in their area of responsibility. They are involved in managing operating costs by preparing solutions to secure and improve profitability, working on tenders for specific areas of responsibility or submitting alternative process proposals. In addition, they prepare monthly and annual reports and reports, or help draft laws and regulations, as well as other regulations and directives.
According to law
If they take on qualified tasks in clerical processing and administration, administrative economists and administrative managers first receive an overview of the specific facts. If, for example, a new business park is to be built, many questions must first be clarified: should companies with “clean”, low-noise production from the high-tech sector or production companies with a lot of noise, smell and emissions should settle? How is transport organized? Do I need to build an access road if necessary? Administrative economists and administrative managers also need to consider how close the nearest residential area is, how local residents are received, and what kind of environmental pollution to expect. Possible compensation areas must be created, and it must also be ascertained whether the landowners are ready to sell. Until all issues are clarified and a decision is made, administrative economists and administrative managers must study many documents, obtain expert opinions, hold discussions and phone calls with planners, other authorities (for example, environmental authorities environment), property owners and residents. They may go into the field and visit companies or construction sites. They then prepare a case-specific decision on that basis or take it on their own in accordance with the applicable legal and administrative provisions.
Diversified fields of activity of administrative economists and managerial administrators
They work in all government departments, from the executive branch to higher and middle governments and to the ministerial level, but they will also find work in privatized companies or the private sector. In all branches of administration, administrative economists and administrative managers can perform cross-functional functions, such as in the areas of organization, human resources, finance and purchasing or data processing. In the area of organization, for example, they are jointly responsible for the efficient and smooth administrative processes in their charge. They check the structure and organization of processes in terms of the optimal and at the same time economical execution of administrative tasks and strive to constantly adapt to changing circumstances. The goal is to have efficient administrative processes that reduce processing time, make it more convenient for citizens, and reduce costs.
Administrative economists and administrative managers, especially at the highest administrative level, may also work on legislation and, for example, develop legal and administrative regulations. If they actively perform management and management functions, they must manage personnel and organize work processes in addition to their specialized tasks. In some cases, they also take on training and development tasks.

Construction fraudsters are operating in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The situation is as follows: we started to make repairs at home, found builders on the ad and concluded an agreement with them. Fraud cases have become more frequent in the city. In addition to dubious calls, residents can fall for the tricks of unscrupulous people from Avito or construction companies.
