Veterinary doctors of the Sverdlovsk region urge to vaccinate pets against rabies and not to approach wild animals when meeting them in settlements. In the region in recent months there has been a “surge” in the incidence of animals.

“The Sverdlovsk region is a permanently unfavorable territory for rabies. The disease is cyclical. Every 5-7 years, an increase in the incidence is recorded, which declines in subsequent years. Today, growth is just taking place – last year 28 cases of rabies were recorded. The previous jump was recorded in 2016 – then there were 74 cases. The main sources of infection are foxes, wolves and raccoon dogs, as well as stray dogs and cats,” notes E.V. Trushkin.
