Pleasant/Columbia Heights Neighborhood and dedicates itself to the
diversity our community offers. We pride our program on reflecting
the wonderful complexity of people who are part of our area, as
well as those who come from other parts of the Washington. Each
student enriches the school with a unique ethnic and cultural
background. The director and staff of Little Flower Montessori
School encourage parental involvement at the school. This
involvement is critical to the success of the program, and parents
are often invited to share their skills and experiences with the
children. Interaction between parents and teachers, school and home
are recognized as an essential element of the children’s

I just wanted to let you know as a parent who had 2 girls go to little flower from the ages of 2 till they went to school. The program is wonderful, so diverse, with a family style atmosphere with structure and you can leave feeling confident they will be well looked after and also be safe.. She teaches them all the educational skills, but just as important, she taught them manners, how to make good choices, dancing, singing, plays, Musical instruments, acting, foreign language, cooking (without heat of course), gardening, Birthday parties lots of parent interaction and lots of shows and presentations that give your children something to be proud of, as well as building their confidence, self-esteem, and character. Believe me sit in on one of the sessions and you will leave thinking it is the brightest room you ever saw. As a testimonial of sorts I will report that my girls, one is 19 now she is in her 3rd semester of college for nursing school, she is on the deans list every semester, Is president of her coed fraternity, has worked part time since she was 15 never calling in sick or being late one time and now she is 19 . She has always paid her car insurance and phone so to learn how to start managing money before college. As they grew I saw things in them I knew they learned from Eliana. Once Starr won a bicycle at a fair and there were alot of children, her bike was very old, and when she went up to accept her prize to my amazement she gave it back saying at least I have a bicycle please give it to another child. Oh did I mention we are a low income family, I am a single mom now for 13 years. I know the prices are high in DC and I am sure its not any cheaper at other schools at least the ones that would be acceptable. She offers everything from before school care programs to full day, half day and after school care. When we moved there we searched everywhere for the 5 stars school we could afford. And found Little Flower to go beyond what I was hoping to find..The other great thing is she only takes a small amount of children and always has a wait list she will not over crowd the classes. My other child Raine has played the cello for 7 yrs now, she volunteers on Saturdays at the soup kitchen where we live now, she is counselor at the park district summer camp teaching kids in the loving but disciplined way she was taught. I am sure she may be a teacher of some type. Raine just got her license Sat. and without any coaching from me gave me some money to save for her insurance. All through school they both were on honor roll almost every semester, student of the month, and always looked forward to school. She also influenced me by being a example that there is nothing you can’t do if you work for it, I graduated May 17 this year with my associates degree in Surgical Technology and I am 53. We are the family that donated the wooden swing set with the tower swings etc. It is very hard in the center of DC to find property’s with the outdoor space and many have playrooms inside. Since the front yard is also fenced in with a 6ft fence the children get to play out in the sun and also explore a bit of nature. No my kids nor am I perfect but I know for a fact that the excellent education and loving care they received in those years has greatly influenced the type of young women they are becoming. wow I didn’t mean to write so much but I just started writing from the heart. So please excuse my spelling and grammar as I wrote this so quickly before I have to go to work. It is a little jewel in the heart of the big city but I guarantee your child will be well looked after while gaining not only a education but real life skills you may not notice some of them till they are grown. <3
