Twos Classroom

This one-of-a-kind classroom environment was designed especially for one-of-a-kind children who are ready to move, explore, grow, and learn every single day. In this classroom, six unique learning centers provide regular opportunities for exploration, discovery, and enjoyment.

Movement & Music Center

Let’s move! Build gross motor skills (jump, climb, dance) in a safe place.

Language & Literacy Center

Get cozy. It’s time to read, share stories, play with puppets, and discover early writing materials in a comfortable, quiet space.

Art & Science Center

Express yourself. A variety of art supplies, observations tools, and sensory materials (water, sand, fabric, etc.) encourage creative investigations.

Pretend Center

Use your imagination. Dressing up and make-believe play are a collaborative experience, where children explore their creativity.

Block & Math Center

Blocks, puzzles, and other objects are used to encourage children to build, design, and experiment with materials.

“My Space”

It’s quiet time. When children need to be quiet, this area allows them to relax by themselves and enjoy some quality alone time.

Curriculum & Milestones

Our Learn from the Start curriculum continues to guide milestone development, with learning experiences specially designed for this active, energetic age group. Children reach key milestones in these five main developmental areas.

Approaches to Learning

How to solve problems, explore the world, and become more independent.

Cognitive Development

How to think critically and creatively and understand the world.

Language Development

How to communicate effectively with sounds, expressions, body language, and finally, oral and written language; how to understand and communicate with others.

Physical Development

How to coordinate and control large and small muscle movements; how to increase awareness of health and safety concepts.

Social-Emotional Development

How to interact with others; how to increase awareness of themselves and their emotions; how to understand relationships with others, such as family, friends, community members.

Meet the Westerville Learning Center’s Director

Athari Abushaqra has been the director of Westerville Learning Center for 2 years and has over 7 years of experience working with children. She has a CDA and degree in psychology. Athari is 31 years old and is married to a lovely husband and has three wonderful kids, ages 6, 5 and 3. She is very passionate about what she does. Even before she had children of her own, she always loved babysitting her nieces and nephews and helping them with their homework. So when she had children of her own, it really gave her a passion to start something in the field of childcare. Now she is the director of the Westerville Learning Center and loves what she does every day!

The Westerville Learning Center Philosophy

We recognize that every child is unique and has different needs. We also believe that education should be a positive experience. Therefore we seek to provide a loving, positive, and secure environment that will foster a strong desire to learn among the children we care for.
