GCISD offers high-quality, full-day Pre-Kindergarten programs at nine elementary schools. Each classroom has a fully-certified teacher and teaching assistant that provide developmentally appropriate instruction that is exciting and engaging for our students.
Children must be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the school year to be eligible. If children are 5 years old on or before September 1, they qualify for Kindergarten.
There are two ways families may take advantage of GCISD’s Pre-Kindergarten opportunity.
STATE-FUNDED PRE-K for GCISD Zoned Students (En español)
Students can qualify for state-based Pre-K if they meet one of the following criteria:
1. Their home language is something other than English.
2. They are currently, or have been, in foster care.
3. The family meets income criteria.
4. Parents serve in the military.

TUITION-BASED PRE-K for GCISD Zoned Students
In addition to the state-funded Pre-K, we also offer a tuition-based Pre-K program for students who do not qualify for state-funded Pre-K.
Tuition programs are offered in the following elementary schools: Bear Creek, Bransford, Colleyville, Grapevine, Heritage, O.C. Taylor, Silver Lake and Timberline.

All GCISD Pre-K teachers are certified by the Texas Education Agency and receive professional development throughout the year.

OUR CURRICULUM
The district will follow the State of Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines with a robust scope and sequence designed with GCISD Students in mind.
Pre-K is an academic program with a goal of kindergarten readiness. Some of the curriculum resources used are Learning Without Tears, STEMscopes and Opening the World of Learning.

Tell us how it all started?
Several years ago we moved from the south of Moscow to its north, where there were no English kindergartens where we could send our middle daughter.
Nastya was only 4 years old then, and she already understood English perfectly and could speak in full sentences, as she went to an English kindergarten from the age of 2.5. We did not want to lose this progress so much, so after driving the child across the city for several months, we made a life-changing decision for our family and opened our own English kindergarten.
When I was working on launching the garden, I was already running the idea of opening my own school in my head. Ever since my son (he is now 12 years old) went to school, everything that was connected with this topic was perceived very sharply in my mother’s life. I felt helpless, I felt how time was running out, like sand through my fingers, I understood that it was unlikely that anything would change for the better, but I could not change anything.
We started with a rating school in the south-west of Moscow, which was located close to our house. There, a child who came to school with burning eyes was completely repulsed by interest in learning.
I constantly had to convince him that he needed to do his homework and be active in class. We graduated from international schools, where, as my grandmother would say, there was a “beautiful sign in an empty store.” Moreover, only parents whose children studied in such schools can realize how empty these “shops” are. In the mind of any sane person, the cost of these schools, combined with the appearance, give the impression of a fundamental education, especially given their international roots.
Therefore, immediately after the opening of the first kindergarten, we began to look for premises in our area suitable for a school where our children could study. And we found such a building – in our area (a 20-minute drive from the gardens of our network), new, spacious, designed by a French architect – we immediately realized that we needed to open a school at all costs here and only here.
I have two strong convictions: firstly, few services can be put on stream without losing quality and human face, and this is definitely not preschool and school education, and secondly, a kindergarten that does not have a logical continuation in terms of educational programs, standards and approaches in the school, is a kind of semi-finished product.
