I have a B.A. in Liberal Studies and an M.S. in family and consumer science, both from California State University Northridge and more than 15 years of experience in child development.
We offer Infant Care, Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Before- and After- School-Age programs and Summer Camp. Our school has recently been upgraded to improve the experience for our children! Tablets in our preschool rooms with educational software and smart technology in our School-Age room. We also have an updated outdoor playground with soft, synthetic turf and playground equipment.
The majority of our staff has been at our school for more than five years and together, they have more than 80 years of experience. Staff members receive ongoing training which ensures they’re familiar with the latest teaching methods.

Robert Lewis Stevenson was born in 1850 in the Pacific Ocean, on the island of Samoa. His father, Thomas, was a lighthouse engineer. And grandfather too. Everything was so serious that, before reaching 15 kilometers to the goal, Robert left the saddle with his last strength and spent almost two days lying on the ground.
A bear hunter found him, took him to his goat ranch, and fed him goat’s milk for several days before Robert was able to finish his journey.
He wrote to a friend about this adventure: “It was a strange and painful period of my life. According to all the rules, death seemed inevitable, but after a while my spirit rose again in divine fury and began to urge and spur my frail body with no small effort and no small success.
Love is able to crush even less powerful obstacles, and in May 1880 the young people get married in San Francisco, where 73 years ago one of the most beautiful romances in the history of mankind broke out – between the Russian commander and chamberlain Nikolai Rezanov and the daughter of the local commandant Maria Concepcion Arguello.
But it is unlikely that Robert and Fanny knew anything about this.

In 1888, Robert Stevenson and his family set out on another journey. He was a celebrity, a lot was written about the journey. The public, of course, perceived it as a new heroic adventure, undertaken with the aim of tickling their nerves, gaining impressions and delighting fans with another masterpiece.
The goal, however, was different. Completely shattered health insistently demanded a change in climate. In each new place, the writer carefully listened to himself, how the exhausted organism would react to him.

In the end, in 1890, it was decided to settle on the island of Samoa, in the South Pacific. There he died four years later.

American cowboys are getting serious about the Russian ranch

Half a dozen cowboys are sitting at a table in a freshly built makeshift house waiting for dinner.
They spent the morning doing their usual thing: a herd of one and a half thousand cows calves, the month turned out to be difficult – but the food brought immediately becomes a vivid reminder that they are not at home in Montana.
“We don’t limit ourselves. We eat beef, a lot of beef,” explained Darrell Stevenson, an American farmer who, along with two Russian entrepreneurs, founded the Stevenson-Sputnik ranch in the Voronezh region. the difficulty these cowboys had to face.”
For lunch – soup, spaghetti and meat pie. The plates on the table in front of the seated men seem small. All cowboys in Russia have lost weight, but they did not come to rest.
“Difficult is the best word,” said Dan Conn, who had already worked half of his two-month contract at the ranch. “Everything here is different: food, culture, conditions. Only the weather is the same.”
The weather may be the same, but here the land – two hours south of Voronezh – is completely different.
“Here, in this area, one of the most fertile lands in the world.
There is more than twelve percent of humus,” said Stevenson. “In the place where I come from, this is unheard of. We fight with stones, and here people fight with mud. Here, where we are now sitting, the growing season is about sixty days longer than at home.”
And now the quality of the cows matches the quality of the land. According to Stevenson, the ambitious plan of his partners involved the purchase of the most selective stock of the Aberdeen Angus breed, with a pedigree that can be traced back to several generations.
The herd imported to Russia cost about 7 million dollars, and the total investment in the ranch was about 19 million, of which 15 million was a state-subsidized loan from Sberbank.
“Russia needs live cattle, and in this my partners are very prudent and very energetic,” explained Stevenson.
According to American statistics, Russia imports 40-50 thousand heads of live cattle every year. The government wants to reduce those numbers, and the Food Safety Doctrine, signed a year ago by President Dmitry Medvedev, requires Russia to produce 85% of its meat by 2020.
One of the Russian investors, Sergey Goncharov, said that it is so important for the government to reduce imports that subsidies reimburse every fourth dollar invested by partners in the project. Entrepreneurs believe that beef prices will set the tone in the market and the project will quickly begin to bring in money.
“Cows like ours cost between three and four thousand dollars a cow, and bulls between six and eight thousand dollars,” he explained that this was partly because they were imported from Europe, Australia, or the Americas. – For this price, we can freely pay the bank and even make a profit (after we sell the cow).”
Goncharov’s company, “Sputnik”, is located in the Leningrad region. She has already dealt with the transport of bovine embryos and in vitro fertilization. As it turned out, the company lacked special knowledge. According to Stevenson, some basics were missing.
“They wanted the best technology and resources, but I felt they lacked management, perhaps even more than the cows themselves,” he said.
“The short-term goal now is full American support for two years each season; I hope that during this time we will be able to establish a business cycle and then transfer a normally functioning ranch to Russian partners.
The ranch has three qualified veterinarians, but some of the workers have never worked with cattle. However, they are not going to give in: after only a month on the ranch, a worker named Leonid calls himself a cowboy.
“I’m doing this kind of work for the first time,” he said. “I’ve only been here for a month, but the work is not bad, the comrades are good. When the cows are calving, we close them indoors, help them, if they can’t cope, look after them. If they get sick, caught a cold – we warm and take care.
Chief veterinarian Alexander Naritsyn admits that taking care of the 1,500 livestock on the newly built ranch would have been impossible without import help. After all, in early December there was almost nothing here. And now more than 9 have been born on the ranch00 cows.
“Thank you Americans for your skill with horses and lasso,” he said. “If it weren’t for the cowboys, we’d hunt one stray cow for half a day. And they bring her in ten minutes.”
Stevenson recalled how the employees of Sheremetyevo airport took care of such an occupation when the plane with cows arrived from Chicago. Some of the locals who came to work on the ranch knew little more about cattle than the Sheremetyevo loaders at first, but Stevenson says they are willing to learn.
“When the opportunity arose, two or three of them learned to ride in a couple of minutes,” he explained. on the second day the horse dropped, and he hit his head hard, but it was probably his fault.”
Training Russian colleagues is the hardest part of the job for cowboys. Conn, of Avon, Montana, said not all workers would be able to handle their business: “We are all hereditary farmers, cattle breeders, and to teach newcomers who have dealt with nothing but a dairy cow or a few pigs or sheep, “It’s a very difficult job.
Those few people who do it will become very good workers, because they had to overcome great difficulties.”

Location, cleanliness, friendly staff, pet friendly. It was so nice to have a pet friendly spot, with a great area to walk your pet. Unfortunately, some people appeared to be abusing the privilege by not cleaning up after their pets, which I don’t understand. We spent 3 nights there and really enjoyed our stay. Reasonable pet fee too. The room was spotless. View, not so good- we looked at a peaked roof, so no view, except a sliver of the highway. Breakfast was pleasant.
