ABC concept
A unique development concept helps develop a bright and confident personality. We have combined health care, the formation of intelligence and communication skills of children into a harmonious system – ABC.
-
Abilities (intelligence)
Development of intelligence through games and with pleasure.
-
Body (health)
Formation of a child’s strong immunity and care for a healthy lifestyle.
-
Communication (socialization)
Building relationships with other people and developing teamwork skills.
Our advantages
Video surveillance
All our gardens are equipped with video surveillance systems. You can see what your child is doing at any time through the smartphone application, which is especially important during the adaptation period.
Best educators
Mandatory requirements for candidates: higher pedagogical education, work experience, ability to find an approach to the child. All educators undergo regular training at the Sun School corporate university.
English
Our gardens are bilingual, which means that afternoon games and educational activities are held in English only.
Safety
A safe environment is the basis of children’s space: special furniture without sharp corners made of environmentally friendly materials, certified toys, hypoallergenic detergents. Particular attention is paid to preventive measures: the premises are regularly ventilated, the air is disinfected using a recirculator, quartzization is carried out in accordance with SanPiN.
Healthy food
A balanced five meals a day: two breakfasts, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The individual characteristics of the child are taken into account: allergies, food intolerances. The menu has been developed taking into account the current SanPiN and collections of recipes recommended for feeding children in kindergartens.
Children’s insurance
Kindergartens have an accident insurance system for children. Insurance coverage is valid not only in the garden, but also anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day.

Sofia Barabash, mother of David
This is the best garden I know! It is brand new and everything has been thought out to the smallest detail. One senses a serious and painstaking preparation for its opening. Teachers and assistants are kind, they treat children carefully. My son really likes kindergarten, and I notice how the child masters new skills and says more and more words. I myself could hardly give my son as much as they give him in this garden (linguistic classes, making crafts, music classes, physical education, they go for a walk with children). The room is clean, there is a health worker, there are cameras; The child never got sick, thank God. For me, the garden is a great help and support, I am grateful to people who have enough generosity to do such a thing!

Outreach and Service
The Church of the Epiphany is active in advocacy and service activities in its ward, the San Francisco Bay Area, in the United States and abroad. There are too many of these events and they change too often to be listed here: a complete list can be found on the church website. But examples of each include:
Local parish work: Lay Eucharist ministers administer the sacrament to household or hospitalized parishioners.
Bay Area Work: Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) at [1] The program provides housing, meals, and support services to homeless families. Churches of different denominations participate in this program. Families participating in the program are accommodated in the Church of the Epiphany for a period of one to two weeks, in rotation with other churches.
National Reach : Every year the Church of the Epiphany sends its youth on a missionary trip to grow spiritually and participate in the ministry. Prior to 2006, these trips were to Mexico, but since then the missions have been coordinated with the Group Work Camp Foundation and have been involved in home improvement projects such as roofing and painting for low-income people living in the US.
International Service: Epiphany supports human rights by signing and sending letters in support of prisoners of conscience and victims of torture. Information for the letters was obtained through human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.
Education
Since its founding in 1947, the Church of the Epiphany has served to educate young people through kindergartens, a church school and many youth activities. She has a full-time youth minister and many volunteers on her staff.
Music
The Church of the Epiphany has a professional music director, an organist, and he often adds other professional musicians to expand his services. The chapel choir, made up of ward volunteers, performs every Sunday at 10 am, and the youth choir also performs on special occasions. Musical equipment includes a Praeludium III Galanti digital organ and a historic 1927 Stretch A3 Steinway grand piano.
Amenities
The church building, parish hall, classrooms, offices, and playground occupy approximately two-thirds of an acre and are surrounded by mature trees and landscaped gardens.
The Gothic style church has a nave and a sanctuary designed like a miniature cathedral. The nave seats 325 people. Forty-two stained-glass windows, located on all four walls of the sanctuary, depict the four evangelists of the gospel and various biblical themes. The chapel, which opens from the nave, is used for special services and for healing prayer after communion. It seats approximately 25. Eight colorful tapestries, woven by congregants, hang on the back wall of the church and behind the altars in the sanctuary and chapel.
Eastburn Hall Parish Hall accommodates approximately 175 meeting places. The building also houses classrooms, a library, a nursery, a kindergarten and offices for staff. Several community groups, such as the Interfaith Hospitality Network, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Girl Scouts, attend Eastburn Hall regularly.
Church of the Epiphany has a long relationship with Sequoyah Parents Daycare. [2], a preschool program for children ages 3 to 5 and their parents sponsored by the Sequoia Union High School District.
Clergy
The Church of the Epiphany installed the Reverend Melanie Donahue as its eighth rector in 2009. Ed. Mark Handley Andrus was elected and appointed as the eighth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of California in 2006. Katherine Jefferts Schori was elected the 26th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America (ECUSA) in 2006. A complete historical list of all the rectors of Epiphany is available on the church’s website.
Epiphanius website
The church’s first website in 1996 was www.quercus.org/~epiphany. It briefly took the name www.blessthelord.org around 1999, but it didn’t prove to be very popular, so it moved to www.churchoftheepiphany.org a few months later where it has been ever since. Since August 2001, every Sunday sermon has been recorded. The sermons were first published on the website, but in 2007 a podcast was added to them.
All are welcome
The philosophy and policy of the Church of the Epiphany is “all are welcome.” No one is prohibited from attending church services, communion, or parish membership.
A Brief History of the Beginning of the Church of the Epiphany
(This section is adapted from The First Fifty Years of , a history of the Church of the Epiphany written by Sandra Burnett with permission. The full text of this book is available on the church website.)
In the fall of 1946, the bishop Block and the Reverend Egbert B. Clark, rector of St. Peter’s Church in Redwood City, California [3] agreed to call a new deputy rector to live in San Carlos and begin preparations for a mission church there. Subsequently, St. Peter’s invited Rev. Fordyce E. Eastburn, who was then working at the cathedral in Texas, to come to California on a research visit. The study visit must have gone well, because Bishop Block immediately hired Eastburn as deputy rector at St. Peter’s. On June 18, the Bishop and Eastburn began shopping for the church lot and recommended that the diocesan council purchase property in the 1800 block of Arroyo Avenue.
On Sunday, October 5, 1947, Reverend Eastburn celebrated Holy Communion at the Community Church, which was attended by forty people. This is considered the beginning of the Church of the Epiphany. That week the new missionary congregation moved to Laurel Hall, then the only social meeting hall in San Carlos. It was located above a bar across from the firehouse on Laurel Street between Holly Street and San Carlos Avenue. The Bishop approved the choice of “Theophany” as the name of the new mission, and the name was subsequently approved by the Bishop’s Committee. Several reasons for the name have been suggested. First, Epiphany Sunday is the day the Eastburns arrived on the peninsula. Lelia Eastburn’s second reason is that it was on that day that her husband was ordained a deacon. Or maybe there was no other Baptism in the diocese at that time.
The Bishops’ Committee (Saristry) held its first official meeting on October 28, 1947, after the start of the Women’s Auxiliary Service, the first celebration of which took place on October 19. The Altar Guild held its first meeting on October 30th. The Reverend Eastburn resigned from his position as a Fellow of St. Peter’s and was appointed Vicar Bishop of Epiphany.
The first building on the site was a combination parish hall and chapel that served as both a place of worship and gathering. Volunteer work at the construction site began on June 24, 1948 years led by Arnold M. Teza, professional building contractor and community member. By March 7, 1949, the average number of workers was thirteen on Saturdays and four on Sundays, but sometimes there were up to 24 people at work. Work progressed slowly, but by Sunday, May 20, 1951, fifteen men were confirmed by Bishop Blok in the windowless parish hall, despite the cold breeze.
In 1951, the church abandoned missionary status and became a parish. The parish is generally a self-supporting organization that also supports the diocese through an annual evaluation. The mission usually receives support from the diocese, but otherwise works the same, although some titles differ. The mission has a “vicar” who serves as the “substitute” for the bishop, the mission’s official rector, and forms an episcopal committee in place of the sacristy.
As the community grew in the 1950s, it was decided to build a separate building to serve as a chapel, leaving the parish hall for non-worship functions only.
