Jumping Jack is an exercise from childhood
Jumping Jack is an exercise that everyone knows, but not everyone does it. Perhaps the fact that children are already trying to get to know him in kindergarten means that we do not take these exercises seriously. Meanwhile, fast and technically correct jumping can cause shortness of breath, after all, jumping jack is an aerobic exercise that requires a lot of energy. We must also remember that not only do they often appear in the warm-up plan before exercising in fitness clubs, but they are also part of circuit training or in people who practice gymnastics. Moreover, intense bouncing during the exercise is a good way to burn a lot of calories.
This exercise targets a variety of muscle groups: the shoulder, gluteal, and abductor muscles in the hips, arms, back, and legs. This exercise speeds up the heart rate, which means it improves blood flow to the muscles, and as part of the warm-up, it minimizes the risk of injury and soreness.
Jumping jack exercise how to do
This is an energetic jump that is accompanied by an extension of the arms (almost connecting them above the head) and legs. After the jump, we return to the starting position and immediately repeat the entire action.
Technique, step by step:
- Stand up straight, freely lower your arms along the body, bend your legs slightly at the knees.
- Jump up, pushing off with your feet apart, about a little more than shoulder width apart. At the same time as you jump, raise your arms above your head.
- Dynamically return to the starting position and repeat the exercise for the specified number of times. The movements of the arms and legs must be synchronized.
Video of exercise
As you can see, this exercise is easy and effective at the same time.
What are the benefits of jumping
The main benefit of jumping jacks is to increase the heart rate, which means supplying more oxygen to the muscles. Exercise also makes us more flexible. In addition, by performing jumps, we train the whole body and involve different muscle groups.
Like any physical activity, jumping releases endorphins, which are the hormone of happiness and also a natural pain reliever. There is an increase in muscle endurance and strength, metabolism is accelerated, as a result of which we lose weight.
How many calories does jumping jack burn?
In fact, the jumping jack speeds up the heart rate and also speeds up the burning of calories. A woman weighing 58 kg during a 30-minute exercise at a moderate speed will burn 130 kcal, and during vigorous jumps – already 237 kcal.
The efficiency of fat burning can be increased by adding variety to the jumps, for example, instead of returning to the starting position, do a semi-squat after the jump. The jumping jack is one of the most recommended fat burning exercises.
Slimming Jump Jack
Jumping Jack is the perfect exercise to use in the form of interval training, i. e., variable intensity efforts that burn fat more efficiently than steady pace workouts. In the beginning, for example, walk at a brisk pace for 5 minutes, then do as many jumps as possible for two minutes, and then return to brisk walking again. You can also use the exercise as part of a wider interval exercise.

“Tabata as one of the non-traditional remedies
morning exercises for children aged 5-7”

Egorova N.A.
The Tabata System is a complex of highly effective, intense workouts for improving physical fitness, fast weight loss. The essence of the classes is to perform a large number of dynamic movements in a short period of time. The technique is universal, simple, can completely replace cardio or regular aerobics.
The Tabata Method is named after Izumi Tabata, a doctor from the Tokyo Institute of Fitness and Sports who actually developed the method. Also, you can often come across the name Tabata protocol, but this does not change the essence of the matter. The main reasons for practicing Tabata are simplicity, minimum time required, and no need for additional equipment.
Tabata is an effective way to tidy up the body, add variety to your usual physical activities and increase endurance.
The essence of “Tabata” – the exercises are performed at the highest possible pace for 20 seconds, after which there is a 10-second rest phase. Thus, 8 different tabata exercises are performed in 2-4 circles. One is enough for beginners. The total duration of the lesson is 4-8 minutes. More circles can be done depending on the activity. This type of training promotes the development of endurance and is perfect for those who are just starting to exercise.
In other words, this is a short-term high-impact interval training. The result – in 4 minutes you get a balanced load, equal to a quality 45-minute cardio workout.
It turned out that the Tabata protocol is great for children’s charging.
Firstly, the child has difficulty keeping attention on one exercise for more than a couple of minutes (maybe even less), and here it takes only 20 seconds.
Secondly, in 10 seconds of rest, he does not have time to be distracted and switch to something else, and you do not have to catch him all over the apartment and convince him that charging is useful. Thirdly, you can choose exactly those exercises that your child can do without harm to himself.
The variety of exercises is selected based on the individual needs of children, muscle groups, which should be emphasized. For example: exercises for all body groups, yoga exercises, exercises for the abdominal muscles, for legs, arms, and so on.
Our body tends to get used to the given loads. Therefore, after a while, performing the same type of exercises no longer brings the proper result. To avoid the loss of effectiveness of the training process, it is necessary to periodically change the set of tabata movements. Engage in the same scheme should not be more than 3 times in a row. At the same time, it is necessary to change not only the set of exercises, but their order.
For example:
- Week #1: jumping jack, push-ups, crease, jump-ups.
- Week 2: burpees, lunges, leg swings, bike.
- Week 3: Standing knee to stomach, air lunges, spider plank, high knees run.
- Week 4: Air squats, jump rope, burpees with push-ups, plank jumps with leg raises.
Tabata training contraindications
There are no special contraindications for health reasons, but it all depends on the type of load that will be used in the complex.
Thus, intensive training is categorically not suitable for children:
- with a low level of physical fitness;
- suffering from pathologies of the heart and blood vessels;
- those with joint and musculoskeletal problems;
- with low endurance.
