Apache2 Debian Default Page: It works

Apache2 Debian Default Page

This is the default welcome page used to test the correct
operation of the Apache2 server after installation on Debian systems.
If you can read this page, it means that the Apache HTTP server installed at
this site is working properly. You should replace this file (located at
/var/www/html/index.html) before continuing to operate your HTTP server.

If you are a normal user of this web site and don’t know what this page is
about, this probably means that the site is currently unavailable due to
maintenance.
If the problem persists, please contact the site’s administrator.

Debian’s Apache2 default configuration is different from the
upstream default configuration, and split into several files optimized for
interaction with Debian tools. The configuration system is
fully documented in
/usr/share/doc/apache2/README.Debian.gz
. Refer to this for the full
documentation. Documentation for the web server itself can be
found by accessing the manual if the apache2-doc
package was installed on this server.

The configuration layout for an Apache2 web server installation on Debian systems is as follows:

/etc/apache2/
|-- apache2.conf
| `-- ports.conf
|-- mods-enabled
| |-- *.load
| `-- *.conf
|-- conf-enabled
| `-- *.conf
|-- sites-enabled
| `-- *.conf

  • apache2.conf is the main configuration
file. It puts the pieces together by including all remaining configuration
files when starting up the web server.
  • ports.conf is always included from the
main configuration file. It is used to determine the listening ports for
incoming connections, and this file can be customized anytime.
  • Configuration files in the mods-enabled/,
    conf-enabled/ and sites-enabled/ directories contain
particular configuration snippets which manage modules, global configuration
fragments, or virtual host configurations, respectively.
  • They are activated by symlinking available
    configuration files from their respective
*-available/ counterparts. These should be managed
    by using our helpers

    a2enmod,
    a2dismod,

    a2ensite,
    a2dissite,

    and

    a2enconf,
    a2disconf
. See their respective man pages for detailed information.

  • The binary is called apache2. Due to the use of
environment variables, in the default configuration, apache2 needs to be
    started/stopped with /etc/init. d/apache2 or apache2ctl.
Calling /usr/bin/apache2 directly will not work with the
    default configuration.

By default, Debian does not allow access through the web browser to
any file apart of those located in /var/www,
public_html
directories (when enabled) and /usr/share (for web
applications). If your site is using a web document root
located elsewhere (such as in /srv) you may need to whitelist your
document root directory in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf.

The default Debian document root is /var/www/html. You
can make your own virtual hosts under /var/www. This is different
to previous releases which provides better security out of the box.

Please use the reportbug tool to report bugs in the
Apache2 package with Debian. However, check existing bug reports before reporting a new bug.

Please report bugs specific to modules (such as PHP and others)
to respective packages, not to the web server itself.

Day Care Centers Site

More and more in today’s world both parents have employment and need suitable day care centers for their children. These early stages in a child’s life are very important to their growth and development. Choosing a good child day care center is vital, one where the adult won’t just plunk your children down in front of a soap opera all day and feed them Top Ramen. You should look for day care centers that provide learning programs and playtime for your child, along with a safe and healthy environment.

There are many different types of day care centers, ranging from basic nurseries to preschools that will provide more of a learning environment for your children. Some day care centers specialize in a specific age range, while others are more open. When you’re contemplating placing your child in a specific day care center, you should visit each one with your child. In this way, you can see how your child reacts to the other children who are there and to the caregiver. You want your child to be happy and comfortable.

While some day care centers provide a greater variety of activities than others, any good day care center is going to encourage positive interaction among all of the children. They will also have rules that promote good behavior, learning, manners, and child development. You certainly don’t want to have to worry that your child is going to develop bad habits from day care.

Providing the child care and day care services:Day Care Center / Nursery, Child Care Provider

While you don’t need to go overboard in choosing suitable day care centers, you should approach the subject seriously and with thought. Your child is going to be spending a good-sized portion of his or her life in day cares and you want to make sure it is going to be a positive experience. Family is the most important thing in the world and you should make sure that your children are your first priority.
When you are considering a day care center, you should look at where it is located and how much it costs. There’s not much sense in putting your son or daughter in daycare so that you can work full time and spending most of what you earn on the day care center’s tuitions and your travel expenses. If that’s the case, you might as well stay home with your child. However, if you do truly need the money, there are usually plenty of day care services available and it shouldn’t be too difficult to find one close by that is reasonably priced.

Different Kinds of Child day Care Centers

While child day care centers are common, there is such a huge demand for this service that there are now quite a variety of options available other than basic day care. These include the following:

  • Home child care or family childcare
  • Child care services
  • Preschool
  • Nursery

Home child care tends to be the most popular option because it is generally more affordable and a smaller environment. While some day care centers are quite large and can provide better early childhood education, it is also more difficult for each child to receive personal attention. Day care centers that are based out of someone’s home are usually more personal and your child can receive more care and nurturing. Most parents want their children to be receiving love and affection, the care that they themselves would give them. They don’t want a day care business that is merely going to make sure that their child is still alive and adequately healthy.

Home child care providers are also more adaptable, generally speaking. This means that if your child likes a certain song sung to them before they take their nap each day, the home care provider is more likely to be willing to do that than someone in a larger day care facility. Most adult home child care providers are parents themselves, making them better able to understand and love your child.

Other Things to Think About

One of the first steps you should take after picking out a family day care center that you think will be suitable for your child is do a little investigating. This can involve talking to the parents of the other children that use the child day care center to see what they think about it. You should also always check to make sure the child care service you are considering is legally licensed to operate in your state. Licensing officials check criminal records and ensure that the child care provider has emergency response training and a safe and healthy environment for the children.
As mentioned earlier, it is a good idea to visit the child day care center that you are considering. You should do this at least a couple of times, and try to go at different times of the day so that you can get a better idea of what kind of schedule they have. This will help you to see how your own child would fit in.
If you are having difficulties finding the appropriate child care environment for your son or daughter, there are some other options. Some people get family and friends to help out, while others hire a nanny. Adult nannies are a good option because they ensure that your child receives personal attention and quality child care. However, this also means that your child will not receive as much social interaction since he or she won’t have other children to play with like in a family day care center.

No matter what option you decide to go with, make sure that you know who you are leaving your child with.  Meet them, get to know them, and let your child do the same. Do some research on the internet to make sure that no one has had negative experiences with the day care center you are considering. Check to make sure that they are legally licensed. Once you have done all of this, you can feel more confident and secure in knowing that you have chosen the right day care center for your child.

Switching Day Care Centers

Choosing Another Child Care Provider

So you want to switch day care providers for your kids but you don’t know where to start or what to choose among the plethora of options out there in this world. It is fittingly one of the most important decisions of a young parent’s journey due to the fact that a child’s first formative years up until the age of six is critical. It is important for parents to not just consider the monetary impact of these choices but also the emotional, intellectual, and social future impacts the choice of a day care provider will have on their kids in the long term future. So let’s discuss some general tips to consider for the parent and the child to consider when one is looking to switch day care providers within a short time frame.

First, you must consider the cost of attending some of the more prestigious and rigorous day care provider centers in your area. In some areas, let’s face the reality that the more money per month per child spent; the better the facilities and the educational value experience offered for your child. Things such as using smart boards and I Pad’s to enhance the learning experience is a very real possibility in these places. However, if a parent is budget conscious they can still afford this experience but it would mean cutting back on all or most non-necessity spending. This would include curbing your eating out habits as well as any leisure entertainment or travel activity and place that money instead into your child’s future day care home. If an expensive day care sees that you are making an effort to keep up with the payments; then they will be more willing to work with you and not let your child leave that place. For a child going to this environment, they need to consider whether or not they will fit into this environment, things like playtime, feeding time, and individual care of the staff- is it received well by the child? These will make the difference between choosing these ones or a cheaper alternative. Cheaper is not all bad if the quality and availability of care is there for your child in the first place.

Secondly, you need to consider your travel times and distance of day care relative to your work and other important places like the hospital, grocery store, bank, and places that you frequent on a daily basis. Is it near enough that you can get to your child should he/she become ill or need special attention so that the day care center can contact you and arrange a meeting with you the same day if needed.

Furthermore, you need to consider the overall cleanliness and friendliness of the day care center provider. Do not underestimate a clean environment for your kid to play and learn in with other kids. Your kid will enjoy making new friends in a clean and safe environment. Plus you as a parent will enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that your child will not be being home any unwanted germs and diseases into your house. Parents must also consider if there is a dispute over payment and care; how does the management and staff deal with such requests? If there is a lackadaisical approach to your core issues; then that is a bad prelude of things to come concerning your child’s care. Your child will probably feel like he/she is being neglected or not fed on time and will start to complain to you ever so slightly that something is not right. When they do, do not hesitate to take them out of that day care center and find another one immediately.

In a recessionary economy, it is okay and permissible for both parents and kids to demand the best care for their dollar. Make your day care dollar stretch by reading all of the material and brochures and visiting every day center on your list until you find that perfect fit for your child. It’s out there; it is just waiting on you to find it!

Child Care Options for Low Income Families

One of the most frustrating aspects of being a working citizen is not having the ability to afford childcare. The majority of day care facilities charge as much as $300 per week for each child. That amount is difficult for middle-class citizens to pay. Low-income families cannot fathom paying such an expense. Luckily, the government and the various states have developed programs that help low-income families get the childcare they deserve. The following is some information on those programs:

Extended Day Program

The extended day program can assist low-income working parents during the regular school year. Many school districts offer this program. The school keeps children before and after school hours for a small monthly fee. A parent can drop a child off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick the child up as late as 6:00 p.m. This program is excellent for low-income workers with daytime weekday jobs. The cost is approximately $150 per month for before and after school. The weekly rate is approximately $37.50, which is extremely competitive.

The attendants participate in various activities with the children before and after school. They help the children with their homework so that the parents have less stress when they come home from work. They give the children a full breakfast in the morning program and a snack in the evening program. Parents can opt to pay for the morning program only, the evening program only, or both programs. The evening program is the more expensive of the two because it lasts so many hours after the school releases the children. The evening program is $100 while the morning program is $52.

The Child Care Assistance Program

CCAP is a special program that provides childcare assistance to certain low-income families. People who are collecting TANF are automatically eligible to receive this assistance. Teenage parents who are working on obtaining their educations are also eligible for CCAP. Those who are not collecting TANF can still qualify if they are pursuing education that will improve their work skills and job opportunities. Parents can apply for CCAP assistance with the Department of Children & Family Services. The financial guidelines for qualification are along the lines of a $3,000 per month income threshold for a four-person family. The applicant must have proof of income, social security cards, birth certificates, and immunization records for all children. Application processing can take up to 30 days.

Head Start

Head start is a program for children between the ages of three and five. The program provides childcare services and medical services to the children who qualify. It is funded by the Administration of Children’s Services. The Head Start program covers childcare from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Teachers work with the children to fine-tune their social and developmental skills. Those who are interested in the program may apply online. Applicants go on a waitlist until there is an available slot in the program. It is best for an interested person to complete an application as quickly as possible since the wait may be extended.

Child Care Voucher Program

The Child Care Voucher Program is in effect in many states throughout the United States. It provides a subsidy of up to 95 percent of childcare cost to low-income families. Subsidy recipients will choose an eligible provider from the list of licensed providers. They may also select a relative or an in-home provider. The Child Care Voucher Program covers the childcare from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. This is known as the traditional childcare period. However, the program also covers non-traditional times for parents who work odd shifts. It covers nights, weekends, and evenings.

A wide variety of options is available for low-income childcare. Many stay-at-home moms also run small day care businesses in which they discount their services. There is a way to make working and taking care of your children affordable.

Toponymy and History

Oregon Country pioneers Reese and Sarah J. Anderson were the first settlers of Hazel Dell. Sarah named the area after a hazelnut parking lot on their land near what is today 78th Street and Highway 99. She also donated land for the first school at Hazel Dell. The name “Bear Gulch” was briefly considered by the early inhabitants of Hazel Dell. [11]

Hazel Dell and Minnehaha were two of the first suburban areas developed after World War II. Lakeshore, Felida, and Salmon Creek followed. Much of the area’s housing boom has subsided due to an increase in homes being built east of Vancouver between Interstate 205 and Camas and Washington State Route 500/Fourth Plain Boulevard and the Columbia River.

Until the early 1970s, it was not uncommon to see horses and dairy cattle at several points along Interstate 5 and Highway 99, where shopping centers are now located. Children at that time often earned money for school clothes and summer activities by picking strawberries, raspberries, beans and other vegetables from several farms in the area. After the new child labor laws went into effect banning children under 12 from working, most farm owners have implemented the direct-to-buyer U-choice. Now there are only a few small farms left in Hazel Dell, and there are no dairies at all.

Hazel Dell Band Parade

Every third Saturday in May since 1964, Hazel Dell has hosted a Band Parade. The parade route follows Route 99 north to 78th Street, west to Hazel Dell Avenue, south to 63rd Street, and back to Route 99. The parade was first organized and sponsored by Harvey Johnson and the family who owned the now demolished Steakburger Drive-in on Highway 99. [12]

Format Sesame Street consists of a combination of commercial television elements and production methods that have evolved to reflect changes in American culture and viewing habits. With creation Sesame Street The producers and writers of a children’s television show were the first to use educational goals and curriculum to shape its content. It was also the first time the educational effects of the show were formally explored. As such, the exhibition has undergone a significant change in its history as changes have been made to the format and content to reflect the sources of change in the curriculum.

Shortly after the creation of Sesame Street , its producers developed the so-called “CTW model” (from the production company’s previous name), a TV show planning, production, and evaluation system based on collaboration between producers, writers, educators, and researchers. The show was originally funded by the government and private foundations, but has become somewhat self-sufficient thanks to revenues from licensing deals, international sales, and other media. Their goal was to create a children’s TV show that would “master the addictive qualities of television and do something good with them”. [22] eg helping young children get ready for school. After two years of research, the newly established Children’s Television Workshop (CTW) received a total grant of $8 million ($56 million in 2019 dollars). [23] from the Carnegie Endowment, the Ford Foundation, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the US Federal Government to create and produce a new children’s television show. [24] The program premiered on public television stations November 10, 1969 [25] This was the first educational television program for preschoolers to base its content and production values on laboratory and formative research. “I’ve always talked about our original team that designed and built Sesame Street : Collectively we were geniuses.”

According to writer Michael Davis, by the mid-1970s, Sesame Street had become an “American institution”.0005 [30] The cast and crew expanded during this time, with a focus on hiring female crew members and adding minorities to the cast. The show’s success continued into the 1980s. In 1981, when the federal government stopped funding, CTW turned to and expanded other sources of revenue, including a magazine division, book royalties, product licensing, and overseas broadcast income. [31] Sesame Street ‘The curriculum has expanded to include more affective topics such as relationships, ethics, and emotions. Many of the show’s storylines were drawn from the experiences of its writers, cast and crew, most notably the death at 19’82 Will Lee – who played Mr. Hooper [32] – and the marriage of Louis and Mary in 1988. [33]

By the end of the 1990s. Sesame Street has faced social and economic challenges, including changes in viewing habits for young children, competition from other shows, the rise of cable television, and falling ratings. [34] At the turn of the 21st century, Sesame Street made major structural changes. For example, since 2002, its format has become more narrative and included continuous storylines. After his thirtieth birthday at 19In 99, due to the popularity of the Muppet Elmo doll, the show also included a popular segment known as “Elmo’s World”. [35] In 2009, the show was awarded a Lifetime Emmy Award for 40 years on the air. [36]

In late 2015, in response to the “radical changes in the media business” of [37] and as part of a five-year programming and development deal, HBO’s premium television service began airing the first episodes of Street. Sesame . The episodes became available on PBS stations and websites nine months after they aired on HBO. [37] The deal allowed Sesame Workshop to produce more episodes, about 35 new episodes per season compared to the 18 episodes per season that aired previously, and allowed for a spin-off series with Sesame Street The Muppets and a new educational series. [38]

For the show’s 50th anniversary in 2019, Sesame Street has released over 4,500 episodes, 35 TV shows, 200 home videos, and 180 albums. [39] His YouTube channel has nearly 5 million subscribers. [27] In October 2019, it was announced that the first episodes would be moving to HBO Max starting with season 51 in 2020. [40]

        Format

        Main article: Sesame Street

        Format

Since the first episode of , Sesame Street has structured its format using “strong visual style, fast-paced action, humor and music”, as well as animation and short films. [41] When Sesame Street premiere, most researchers believed that young children short attention span; therefore, the producers of the new show were concerned that the hour-long show would not grab the audience’s attention. At first, the show’s “street scenes”—the action taking place on its set—consisted of character-driven interactions and were not written as continuous stories. Instead, they consisted of individual segments based on the curriculum, interrupted by “inserts” consisting of puppet sketches, short films, and animations. This structure allowed the producers to use a mixture of styles and characters, as well as change the pace of the show. By season 20, research has shown that children can follow the story, and the street scenes, while interspersed with other segments, have evolved into developing storylines. [42] [43]

“We basically took the show apart. It is no longer a magazine format. It’s more like Sesame hour.

        – Executive Producer Arlene Sherman, talking about the restructuring of the show in 2002 will interact with each other because they were afraid it would confuse young children.0005 [44] When CTW tested the attractiveness of the new show, they found that while kids were paying attention to the show during the Muppet segments, their interest was gone during the “Street” segments. [45] The producers asked Henson and his team to create puppets such as Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch to interact with the human actors, and the Street segments were re-shot. [46] [47] Sesame Street ‘s format remained unchanged until the 2000s, when changing audiences required producers to move to a more narrative format. At 19’98 was the creation of the popular “Elmo’s World”, a 15-minute segment hosted by The Muppet Elmo. [48] Starting in 2014, in the 45th season of the show, the producers presented a half-hour version of the program. The new version, which originally supplemented the full-hour series, aired on weekday afternoons and streamed online. [49] In 2017, due to changing viewing habits among toddlers, the show’s producers shortened the show from one hour to thirty minutes on all broadcast platforms. The new version focused on fewer characters, reduced the pop culture references “once included as a wink to their parents”, and focused “on one main theme”. [50]

        Educational goals

Main article: Educational goals Sesame Street

        Signpost Sesame Street .

Author Malcolm Gladwell said that “ Sesame Street was founded on a single, revolutionary understanding: if you can keep children’s attention, you can educate them.” [51] Gerald S. Lesser, the first chairman of the CTW advisory board, went even further, stating that the effective use of television as an educational tool is essential to attract, focus and sustain children’s attention. [52] Sesame Street was the first children’s show to structure each episode and the segments within them to capture the attention of children and make, as Gladwell put it, “small but important adjustments” to keep it going. [53] According to CTW researchers Rosemary Truglio and Shalom Fish, Sesame Street was one of the few children’s television programs that used a detailed and comprehensive educational program composed of formative and summative research. [54]

The creators of Sesame Street and their researchers articulated both cognitive and affective goals for the show. They initially focused on cognitive goals and affective ones on indirect ones, in the belief that this would increase children’s self-esteem and sense of competence. [55] One of their main goals was to prepare young children for school, especially children from low-income families, [56] through simulation, [57] rehearsal, [58] and humor [52] to achieve these goals. They made changes to the content of the show to grab viewers’ attention and increase its appeal. [59] and encouraged “co-viewing” to encourage older children and parents to watch the show, including more sophisticated humor, cultural references, and celebrity performances. [60] [note 4]

First Lady Barbara Bush participates with Big Bird in educational recording Sesame Street at United Studios, 1989.

First Lady Michelle Obama attends Let’s Move! and Sesame Street public announcement record from Big Bird in the White House Kitchen, 2013.

Deputy Secretary of State Anthony Blinken meets with Sesame Street character Grover talk about refugees at the UN in New York, 2016

After Sesame Street ‘In its first season, its critics forced producers and researchers to more openly address such affective goals as social competence, tolerance for diversity, and non-aggressive ways of resolving conflict. These issues were resolved through interpersonal disputes between Street characters. [61] During the 1980s, the series involved real cast and crew events, including the death of Will Lee (Mr. Hooper) and the pregnancy of Sonia Manzano (Maria) to deal with affective issues. [32] Later seasons of Sesame Street addressed real disasters such as the September 11 attacks and Hurricane Katrina. [62]

The show’s outreach goals were realized through a series of programs that first focused on promotion and then, after the first season, on the development of educational materials used in preschools. Innovative programs were developed because their target audience, children and their families from low-income urban homes, traditionally did not watch educational programs on television, and also because traditional methods of promotion and advertising were not effective for these groups. [63]

Beginning in 2006, the Workshop expanded its reach with a series of PBS and DVD specials exploring how military deployment affects soldiers’ families. [64] The workshop’s outreach efforts also focused on prisoner families, health and well-being, and safety. [65] In 2013, SW founded Sesame Street in Communities, a division of its outreach work, to help families dealing with difficult issues. [66]

        Funding

As a result of Cooney’s original proposal in 1968, the Carnegie Institution awarded her a $1 million grant to start a new children’s television program and establish CTW, [22] [24] [67 ] renamed in June 2000 to Sesame Workshop (SW). Cooney and Morrisette received additional multi-million dollar grants from the US federal government, the Arthur Vining Davis Foundation, CPB, and the Ford Foundation. Davis revealed that Cooney and Morrisette had decided that if they did not secure full funding from the start, they would drop the idea of producing the show. [68] According to Lesser, funds received from public agencies and private foundations protected them from the economic pressures of commercial television networks, but created problems in obtaining funding in the future. [69]

After Sesame Street ‘After its initial success, its producers began to think about its survival after its development and first season and decided to explore other sources of funding. From the first season, they realized that the source of their funding, which they considered “seed” money, would need to be replaced. [70] The 1970s were marked by conflicts between CTW and the federal government; in 1978, the US Department of Education refused to release a $2 million check until the last day of the CTW fiscal year. As a result, CTW chose to depend on licensing agreements with toy companies and other manufacturers, publishers, and international sales to fund them. [31]

In 1998, CTW accepted corporate sponsorship to raise funds for Sesame Street and other projects. For the first time, they allowed short advertisements from an indoor playground manufacturer. The Discovery Zone, their first corporate sponsor, airs before and after each episode. Consumer advocate Ralph Nader, who previously appeared on Sesame Street , called for a boycott of the show, saying that CTW was “exploiting impressionable kids”. [25] In 2015, due to funding issues, it was announced that HBO’s premium television service would broadcast the first episodes of Sesame Street . [37] Steve Youngwood, COO of SW, called the move “one of the toughest decisions we’ve ever made.” [71] According to New York Times this move “evoked an immediate reaction”. [38] Critics argued that it favored privileged children over less well-off children and their families, which was the main purpose of the show. They also criticized the choice to air the first episodes on HBO, a network that airs adult dramas and comedies. [38] [72]

        Production

        Research

In 1967, when Cooney and her team began planning the development of the show, the combination of research and television production was, as she put it, “positively heretical. [73] Soon after 9 Sesame Street0132, its producers began to develop the so-called “CTW model”, a planning, production and evaluation system that did not fully emerge until the end of the show’s first season. [74] [note 5] According to Morrow, the CTW model consists of four parts: “the interaction of receptive television producers and children’s science experts, the creation of a specific and age-appropriate curriculum, research to directly shape the program, and the independent measurement of viewer learning “. [74]

Cooney attributed the show’s high standards of research procedures to Harvard professors. Gerald S. Lesser, whom CTW hired to develop the show’s educational goals, and Edward L. Palmer, who was responsible for conducting the show’s formative research and bridging the gap between show producers and researchers. [75] CTW conducted research in two ways: its own formative research, which helped improve production, [76] , and independent final evaluations conducted by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) during the show’s first two seasons, which measured its educational effectiveness. [26] Cooney stated, “From the beginning, we – the developers of the project – designed the show as an experimental research project in which educational consultants, researchers and television producers collaborate as equal partners.” [77] Cooney also described this collaboration as an “arranged marriage”. [73]

Sesame Street has used many writers in its long history. As Peter Hellman wrote in his article 1987 New York Magazine “A show, of course, depends on its writers, and it’s not easy to find adults who can tell the preschooler’s level of interest.” [32] Fifteen writers a year worked on the show’s scripts, but very few lasted more than one season. Norman Stiles, head writer in 1987, reported that most writers would “burn out” by writing about a dozen screenplays. [32] According to Gikov, Sesame Street went against the convention of hiring teachers to write for the show, as most educational television programs did at the time. Instead, Cooney and the producers felt it would be easier to teach writers how to interpret the curriculum than to teach educators how to write comedy. [78] As Stone said, “writing for children is not easy.” [78] Longtime writer Tony Geiss agreed, stating in 2009, “This is not an easy show to write. You have to know the characters and the format, and how to teach and be funny at the same time, which is a big, ambidexter trick.” . [79]

At Kaufman Astoria Studios, where Sesame Street is taped

The show’s research team developed an annotated document, or “Writer’s Notebook,” which served as a bridge between the show’s instructional goals and script development. [80] Notebook was a collection of programming ideas designed to teach specific curriculum items, [81] provided expanded definitions of curriculum goals and helped writers and producers translate goals into television content. [82] The proposals in the notebook did not contain references to specific characters and contexts of the show, so that they could be implemented as openly and flexibly as possible. [83]

The research team, through a series of meetings with the writers, also developed a “curriculum” that outlines the show’s goals and priorities for each season. After reviewing the direction of the curriculum and goals for the season, the writers met to discuss ideas and storylines for the characters, and a “mission sheet” was created that outlined how much time was given for each goal and theme. [80] [84] When the script was completed, the show’s research team reviewed it to make sure the goals were met. Each production department then met to determine what each episode needed in terms of costumes, lighting, and sets. The writers were present during the taping of the show, which for the first twenty-four years of the show took place in Manhattan, and after 1992 Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens to make last-minute changes as necessary. [85] [86] [87] [note 6]

        Media

Early in its history, Sesame Street and CTW began looking for alternative sources of funding and turned to creating products and writing license agreements. They became, as Cooney put it, “a multi-media institution.” [90] In 1970, CTW created a “non-broadcast” division responsible for creating and publishing books and Sesame Street Magazine . [91] As of 2019, Sesame Workshop has published over 6,500 book titles. [27] The workshop decided from the outset that all content produced by their licensing program would “emphasize and enhance” the [92] [93] program of the show. In 2004, more than 68% of Sesame Street ‘Revenues were derived from licenses and merchandise such as toys and clothing. [94] [note 7] By 2008 Sesame Street The Muppets were bringing in $15 million to $17 million a year in licensing and merchandising fees, split between Sesame Workshop and the Jim Henson Company. [95] As of 2019, Sesame Workshop has completed over 500 licensing agreements and released over 200 hours of home video. [39] [27] There were two theatrically released Sesame Street movies, Follow That Bird , released in 1985, and Elmo’s in Grouchland , released in 1999. In early 2019, it was announced that a third film, musical co-written by Anne Hathaway and written and directed by Jonathan Krisel, would be produced. [96] In November 2019, Sesame Street announced a family event. an augmented reality app developed by Weyo in partnership with Sesame Workshop to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show. [97]

Jim Henson, the puppet maker, owned the trademarks for these characters and was initially reluctant to sell them. He agreed when CTW promised that profits from toys, books, computer games, and other products were to be used solely to fund CTW and its outreach efforts. [70] [98] Although Cooney and CTW had very little marketing experience, they demanded full control over all products and product decisions. [92] Any product line associated with the show must be educational and inexpensive, and may not be advertised during the show’s broadcast. [99] According to Davis, “Cooney emphasized restraint, discretion and caution” in his marketing and licensing efforts. [99] [note 8]

Director John Stone, speaking of the music of Sesame Street , said, “There was no other sound like it on television.” [100] For the first time on children’s television, the show’s songs had a specific purpose and supported its curriculum. [101] To attract top composers and lyricists, CTW allowed songwriters such as Joe Raposo, Sesame Street ‘the first music director to retain the rights to the songs they wrote, earning them a lucrative profit and helping the show support the public interest. [102] By 2019, 180 albums were released Sesame Street music, and its authors received 11 Grammys. [39] [27] In late 2018, EO announced a multi-year agreement with Warner Music Group to relaunch Sesame Street Records in the US and Canada. For the first time in 20 years, “the extensive catalog of Sesame Street Recordings” has been made available to the general public in a variety of formats, including CD and vinyl compilations, streaming and downloads. [103]

Sesame Street used animation and short films commissioned by outside studios, [104] interspersed in each episode to help teach its viewers basic concepts such as numbers and letters. [105] Jim Henson was one of the many producers who made short films for the show. [104] Shortly after Sesame Street debuted in the United States, CTW was independently approached by producers from several countries to produce versions of the show at home. These versions became known as “co-productions”. [106] By 2001, over 120 million viewers had watched all international versions. Sesame Street , [107] and in 2006 there were twenty co-productions worldwide. [108] For its 50th anniversary in 2019, 190 million children have viewed over 160 versions of Sesame Street in 70 languages. [39] [109] 6 million dollars. [94]

She was one of the first female executives in American television. Her appointment has been called “one of the most important television events of the decade”. [110] She assembled a team of producers, all of whom had previously worked on Kangaroo Captain . John Stone was responsible for writing, casting and formatting; Dave Connell took over the animation; Sam Gibbon was the main liaison between the production staff and the research team. [111] Cinematographer Frankie Biondo worked on Sesame Street from its first episode. [112]

Jim Henson and the Muppets in 9 Sesame Street0132 began when he and Cooney met at a curriculum planning workshop in Boston. Author Christopher Finch reported that Stone, who had previously worked with Henson, felt that if they couldn’t get him on board, they should “do without the puppets”. [24] Henson was reluctant at first, but agreed to join. Sesame Street to achieve their own social goals. He also agreed to waive the performance fee for full ownership of Sesame Street The Muppets and share any income they generate with CTW. [95] According to Morrow, Henson’s puppets played a crucial role in the show’s popularity and national attention. [113] Davis reported that Henson was able to take “mysterious academic goals” and translate them into “effective and enjoyable viewing.” [114] In the early stages of research, the doll segments of the show received high ratings, and more dolls were added during the first few seasons. Morrow reported that the dolls were effective teaching tools because children recognized them easily, they were stereotyped and predictable, and adults and older siblings liked them. [115]

Sesame Street is best known for its creative geniuses such as Jim Henson, Joe Raposo and Frank Oz who intuitively understood what it took to reach children. They were television’s answer to Beatrix Potter, L. Frank Baum or Dr. Seuss.”

        – Written by Malcolm Gladwell, Tipping Point [116]

0005 [117] they realized that a children’s television program should have, as Lesser put it, “many distinct and reliable personalities”, [118] both person and doll. John Stone, whose goal was to push white actors into a minority, [32] was in charge of hiring the first cast. He did not try out the cast until the spring of 1969, weeks before five test shows were to be filmed. Stone recorded the audition on video and Ed Palmer took them out into the field to test the children’s reactions. Actors who received “the most enthusiastic ratings” were cast. [119] For example, Loretta Long was chosen to play Susan when the children who saw her audition stood up and sang along with her performance of “I’m a Little Kettle”. [119] [120] Stone stated that the casting was the only aspect of the show that was “completely random”. [93] Most of the cast and crew found work at Sesame Street through personal relationships with Stone and other producers. [93] According to puppeteer Marty Robinson in 2019longevity was common among the show’s cast and crew. [27]

According to the CTW study, children preferred to watch and listen to other children more than puppets and adults, so they included children in many scenes. [121] Dave Connell insisted that no child actors be used, [122] so these kids were unprofessional, unscripted and spontaneous. Many of their reactions were unpredictable and difficult to control, but the adult Cast learned to flexibly manage the children’s spontaneity, even if it led to deviations from the planned scenario or lesson. [123] The CTW study also found that children’s hesitations and errors on the air served as a model for viewers. [124] According to Morrow, this resulted in a “fresh quality” for the show, especially in its early years. [122]

        Ratings

. Nielsen rating, which was 1.9million households. [125] On the show’s tenth anniversary in 1979, nine million American children under the age of 6 watched Sesame Street everyday. According to a 1993 poll by the United States Department of Education, of the show’s 6.6 million viewers, 2.4 million kindergarten students watched regularly. 77% of preschoolers watched it once a week, and 86% of preschoolers and first and second graders watched it once a week before school started. The show has reached the majority of young children in virtually all demographics. [126]

The show’s ratings declined significantly in the early 1990s due to changes in children’s viewing habits and the television market. In response, the producers made massive structural changes to the show. [127] By 2006, Sesame Street had become “the world’s most watched children’s TV show” with 20 independent international versions and broadcasts in over 120 countries. [28] A 1996 survey showed that 95% of all American preschoolers had watched the show by the time they were three years old. [128] In 2008, it was estimated that 77 million Americans watched the show as children. [28] By the show’s 40th anniversary in 2009, it was the fifteenth most watched children’s TV show on television, and by its 50th anniversary in 2019, the show had 100% brand awareness worldwide. In 2018, the show was the second highest rated program on PBS Kids. [129] [109]

        Influence

Main article: Sesame Street study § Final study

As of 2001, over 1,000 studies have been conducted regarding Sesame Street ‘s effectiveness, impact, and impact on American culture. [75] CTW has requested the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to conduct a final study of the show. [130] Two “landmarks” ETS [131] final evaluations conducted in 1970 and 1971 showed that the show had a significant educational impact on its viewers. [132] These studies have been cited in other studies on the effects of television on young children. [130] [note 9] Additional research done throughout Sesame Street ‘History has shown that the show continues to have a positive impact on young viewers. [note 10]

Sesame Street [is] perhaps the most actively researched, tested, and worrying program on the planet. Now it would take a forklift truck to haul away a pile of scientific articles on this series … ”

        – Author Michael Davies [133]

Lesser thought that the Sesame Street study “could lend new respectability to research into the effects of visual media on children.” [134] He also believed that the show had the same effect on the prestige of children’s show production in the television industry. [134] Historian Robert Morrow, in his book Sesame Street and the Reform of Children’s Television , which discussed the impact of the show on children’s television and the television industry in general, reported that many critics of commercial television saw Sesame Street as “a direct illustration of reform. [135] Les Brown, writer of Variety , saw Sesame Street as “hope for a more substantial future” of television. [135]

Morrow reported that the networks had responded by producing more high-quality television programming, but many critics saw it as “appeasement gestures.” [136] According to Morrow, despite the effectiveness of the CTW model in creating a popular show, commercial television “made only limited efforts to emulate CTW methods” and did not use the curriculum or evaluate what children learned from them. [137] By the mid-1970s, commercial television had given up experimenting with better children’s programming. [138] Other critics hoped that Sesame Street, with its depiction of a functioning, multicultural community, would instill racial tolerance in young viewers. [139] It wasn’t until the mid-1990s that another children’s educational television program, Blue’s Clues , used CTW techniques to create and modify its content. Creators Clues Blue was influenced by Sesame Street , but wanted to use research done in the 30 years since its debut. Angela Santomero, one of the producers, said, “We wanted to learn from Sesame Street and take it one step further.” There have been persistent rumors and urban legends surrounding the show and its characters, especially speculation regarding Bert and Ernie’s sexuality.0005 [141] [142]

        Critical reception

Sesame Street has received high praise since its debut in 1969. Newsday reported that several newspapers and magazines wrote “brilliant” reports about CTW and Cooney. [125] The press overwhelmingly praised the new show; several popular magazines and niche magazines have praised him. [143] In 1970, Sesame Street received twenty awards, including a Peabody Award, three Emmys, an award from the Public Relations Society of America, a Clio, and a Jeunesse Prize. [144] By 1995, the show had won two Peabody Awards and four Parents’ Choice Awards. In addition, he has been the subject of retrospectives at the Smithsonian Institution and Museum of Modern Art exhibition. [60]

Sesame Street is … flawed, the smartest and most important program on television. It’s not much yet.”

        —Renata Adler, 145]

Sesame Workshop CEO Gary Nell, Executive Vice President Terry Fitzpatrick and puppeteer Kevin Clash (with Elmo) at 69th Annual Peabody Awards, in 2010

Sesame Street However, it was not without its detractors. The state commission in Mississippi, where Henson was from, ran the state office a membership station; in May 1970, he voted not to show Sesame Street due to its “very [racially] integrated child mix” for which “commissioners felt … Mississippi was not yet ready.” [146] [147] According to Children and TV , Lesser’s Report on the Development and Early Years of Sesame Street , the series was not criticized for several months after its premiere, but it intensified at the end of the first and the beginning of the second season. [148] [note 11] Historian Robert W. Morrow has suggested that much of the early criticism, which he called “surprisingly strong”, [21] stemmed from cultural and historical reasons regarding, as he put it, “the place of children in American society and the controversy about the influence of television on them”. [21]

According to Morrow, the “most important” studies showing the negative effects of Sesame Street were conducted by educator Herbert A. Sprigle and psychologist Thomas D. Cook during the first two seasons. [149] Sociologist and From the Beginning founder Uri Bronfenbrenner criticized the show for being too rewarding. [150] Psychologist Leon Eisenberg saw Sesame Street ‘the urban environment is considered “superficial” and has nothing to do with the problems faced by the urban child. [151] Head Start director Edward Ziegler was probably Sesame Street ‘the loudest critic in the show’s early years. [152]

Despite its commitment to multiculturalism, CTW has faced conflicts with the leadership of minority groups, especially Hispanic groups and feminists, who have objected to Sesame Street ‘s portrayal of Hispanics and women. [153] CTW took steps to address their objections. By 1971, the CTW hired Hispanic actors, production staff, and researchers, and by the mid-1970s, Morrow reported that “the show included Chicano and Puerto Rican cast members, films about Mexican holidays and foods, and cartoons that taught Spanish words”. [154] The New York Times has stated, creating strong female characters “that make kids laugh, but not…as female stereotypes” has been a challenge for the producers of Sesame Street . [155] According to Morrow, change regarding how women and girls were depicted on 9 Sesame Street0132 occurred slowly. [156] As more female Muppet performers like Camille Bonora, Fran Brill, Pam Arciero, Carmen Osbar, Stephanie D’Abruzzo, Jennifer Barnhart, and Leslie Carrara-Rudolf were hired and trained, stronger female characters like Rosita and Abby Cadabby were created. [157] [158]

In 2002, Sesame Street was ranked number 27 on TV Guide’s 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time. [159] Sesame Workshop won a Peabody Award in 2009for its website, sesamestreet.org, [160] and the show was given Peabody’s Institutional Award in 2019 for 50 years of educating and entertaining children globally. [161] in 2013, TV program ranked the show number 30 on its list of the 60 best TV series. [162] As of 2018 Sesame Street has received 189 Emmy Awards, more than any other television series. On May 31, 2011, the stadium was transferred from the developers to the club. The first competitive game played at the stadium was the 2010–11 Sussex Senior Cup season final between Brighton and Eastbourne Borough on 16 July 2011. [3] The first league game was against Doncaster Rovers who were also opponents in the last game played at former Brighton stadium, Goldstone Land, 14 years ago.

Falmer Stadium hosted Premier League football for the first time in August 2017, following Albion’s promotion at the end of the 2016–17 season.

The stadium was designed to host other sports and events. It hosted matches from the 2015 Rugby World Cup, disguised as Brighton Stadium .

Plans were initiated by Brighton & Hove Albion after the club’s previous home, Goldstone Ground, was sold by the club’s former board (consisting of Greg Stanley, Bill Archer and David Bellotti) to developers at 1995, when the new house was not arranged.

When the club was evicted at the end of the 1996–1997 season, it shared two seasons at Gillingham with Priestfield Stadium, 50 miles from Kent. [4]

Two years later the club returned to Brighton as tenants of Withdean Stadium which was upgraded to Football League capacity requirements and then expanded when Brighton reached the First Division (now the EFL Championship) in 2002 after two successive Stock.

The site at Fulmer was identified in season 1998–99, and it was hoped that the stadium would be ready in the early to mid-2000s. However, subsequent delays in obtaining planning permission meant the club would have to wait until August 2011 before being able to play its home games there – more than a decade after the stadium was first proposed.

            Building Permit

A building permit was given to the unitary authority from Brighton and Hove City Council in June 2002 with the intention of preparing the stadium for the 2005–06 season. [5] The stadium plans were opposed by neighboring Lewis County Council and local residents. While the stadium is entirely inside Brighton and Hove, part of the site’s northeast is in Lewes. Bennett Field, as it is called, is now used for parking.

Further complications have been associated with both empty fields and the nearby University of Sussex campus being included in the South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, although outside of the National Park. This led to the plans for the stadium being the subject of a separate planning investigation by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

John Prescott, then Deputy Prime Minister, approved the plans on 28 October 2005. However, Lewis County Council immediately filed a new legal complaint against the stadium plan. In April 2006, Prescott admitted that he had given his consent based on the misconception that only a small portion of the stadium’s grounds were on the Lewis side and withdrew it.

Hazel Blears The Secretary of State for Planning confirmed this statement on 25 July 2007. Her decision went against the advice of planning inspectors. Lewis County Council, Fulmer Parish Council and the South Downs Joint Committee (the three main opponents) soon announced that they would not take the case to the high court. On 4 September 2007, the deadline for appealing the new permit expired and the club received full clearance to continue operating.

            construction

Construction of Falmer in July 2010

On November 27, 2008, the Buckingham Group signed a contract to build a new stadium. [6] and began site preparations on 17 December. The stadium is laid three floors into the ground. During its construction, 138,000 cubic meters of chalk were dug out and laid in a field on the south side of Village Way. It is estimated that this will prevent 22,000 chalk truck trips to an off-site landfill. [7]

Construction on the site began on 17 December 2008 and ended in May 2011. The stadium was designed with expansion in mind and plans were made to increase capacity.

The stadium was designed by London architects KSS. [8] The stadium’s capacity has been increased by installing an additional seating tier above the East Stand (Family Stand), increasing the capacity to 30,000 seats. Deal with American Express On 22 June 2010, the stadium’s naming rights were confirmed in Europe, Brighton and Hove’s largest private employer. [9]

            Opening

First League game at Falmer Stadium

The stadium officially opened on 30 July 2011. a friendly match against then-Brighton manager Gus Poyet old club Tottenham Hotspur, the hosts narrowly lose 3–2. The first competitive match took place on 6 August 2011 when Brighton beat Doncaster Rovers 2–1 after falling 1–0. [10]

The stadium set its first attendance record with 21,897 against. Liverpool. They were also the first visiting team to win a competitive match at the stadium, beating Brighton 2–1 in the match. League Cup tie in September 2011 [11] Stadium witnessed its first league defeat in its history when rival side Crystal Palace came from behind to win 3-1. [12]

            In use

In the stadium, hawks scare away seagulls and doves. This prevents the pigeons from nesting in the stadium. [13] On 2 January 2012, Brighton & Hove Albion submitted an application to Brighton & Hove City Council to increase the stadium’s capacity by an additional 8,000 seats, as well as to add additional corporate boxes, new television equipment and a luxury suite. [14] The Planning Committee of Brighton and Hove City Council unanimously approved this request on 25 April 2012. By the start of the 2012–2013 season. The stadium was expanded to 27,250, 27,750 by December 2012 and by the end of the 2012–13 season. Reached 30 750. .

A new attendance record was set on 15 December 2012 when Brighton drew 0-0 against Nottingham Forest in 26,684 games. [15] This attendance record was broken on 26 January 2013 when 27,113 people took part in a 3-2 defeat against Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup [16] [17] Less than two months later how the record was broken again; this time 28,499 people watched as Brighton beat Crystal Palace 3–0 on 17 March 2013. List of comics – Gebiao -Medical.

Comics are often adapted for film or television because, on the one hand, they tell bold, exciting stories, and, on the other hand, producers often assume that every reader is a potential viewer.

In the case of comic book adaptations, a distinction is made between real-life feature films, in which cartoon characters are portrayed by actors, and cartoons, whose appeal lies in the much wider use of the optics of the original.
