AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Fort Washington KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with
the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give
children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language to develop
vocabulary and conversation skills. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers,
colors, animals, family, body parts, and pets, as well as how to engage conversationally
during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.

STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)

You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • Ms. Tiffany runs an awesome center! My son, Chase, has been with Ms. Tiffany since he was an infant. Although he is in school now, he always looks forward to summer camp with Ms. Tiffany. They have a great camp and every aspect of the center is run with love and professionalism.

    LeToya J. – KinderCare Parent
  •              I want to recognize the Fort Washington, MD Center Director, Ms. Tiffany, for a job well done and for truly representing the KLC Corp. brand with excellence. My daughter, Rain Graham, has been a student at the Fort Washington Center for a little over 6 years and I must say this year has been one of the best. The summer program was outstanding and well planned this year.

So often people will take time to write a letter or email when things are not going well but will never take the time to simply say “JOB WELL DONE”. I want the powers that be to know what gems they have in Ms. Tiffany and her staff.

As you know the 1st day back to school can be stressful for the kids, parents, teachers, bus drivers and center staff but Ms. Tiffany executed today flawlessly. I was moved this morning watching her in action, making sure the kids had breakfast before leaving the center and lined up at the door on time to board their buses. It wasn’t anything that she said it was more about watching what she was doing…. and that was caring for every child in the center. At one point I laughed because my daughter’s school bus pulled up on the street and Ms. Tiffany told the driver “no you need to back up and pull up to the door”. The look on Ms. Tiffany’s face was that of a caring mother not just a center director. I am so happy to say that KLC Corporation got it right with hiring Ms. Tiffany as Center Director because she clearly cares for “her” Fort Washington, MD KinderCare kids.

    Warmest Regards

    Arlethia – KinderCare Parent
  • Staff of Angels,
Thank you so much for all you do! Matthew and I can rest easy knowing our children are in good hands.  We hope you are blessed and Happy New Year!
Thank you from the Masons- Matthew, Renee, Mathias, Maximus, and Miracle

    Renee – KinderCare Parent
  • My son, Amir, now 3 has been at Fort Washington KinderCare since he was an infant. I recall a Thursday morning in October 2015, I got a call from his infant teacher at work, Amir was having a seizure. At the time I was 4 months pregnant with his sister. The staff at KinderCare assisted my son, the paramedics when they arrived and accompanied him in the ambulance to the nearest children’s emergency room. I cannot stress how professional and caring both the director Tiffany, the infant teacher Michelle and a host of others were. Needless to say, I placed my daughter, now 2 in their care. I will be forever grateful and I know that they care deeply for the children they are entrusted with. Thank you Fort Washington KinderCare for all that you do!

Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies

Entrance to Church Mission House, former home of FPWA.

Federation of Protestant Welfare Institutions ( FPWA ) is a public service agency in the United States of America. Since its inception in 1922, the FPWA has sought to promote the social and economic well-being of New York City’s most vulnerable Protestants by strengthening community organizations and advocating just public policies. His first permanent home was the Church Missions House, a historic landmark located at 281 Park Avenue. In May 2015, FPWA moved its office and convention center to 40 Broad Street, where it occupies the 5th floor of a mixed-use building.

History

FPWA was originally called the Federation of Protestant Child Care Institutions. It was founded in 1920 in response to a request from the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Public Welfare that representatives of religious welfare organizations form an advisory committee throughout the country. In the 1930s, the organization changed its name to the Federation of Protestant Charitable Agencies in an effort to increase access to essential services and expand its programs and services. FPWA bought Church Mission House at 1963 year. In 2015, the organization underwent a rebranding and officially became known as the abbreviation FPWA.

Today FPWA has almost 200 social services and churches across the country. Its political efforts focus on income generation, child welfare, child care and education, senior welfare, workforce development, youth services, HIV and AIDS, and offer scholarship programs and emergency financial assistance. In addition, in 2007 it was one of more than 530 New York City arts and social service institutions to receive a portion of a $30 million grant from the Carnegie Corporation, made possible by a donation from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The current CEO is Children’s and Family Advocate Jennifer Jones Austin.

Municipal budgetary preschool educational institution “Child development center – kindergarten “Rossiyanka” of the city of Obninsk

Home

Welcome to the website of MBDOU “Child Development Center – Kindergarten “Rossiyanka” in Obninsk.

Our kindergarten has been operating since 1978.

Since 1995, we were the first in the Kaluga region to introduce the M. Montessori system into the educational process.

The essence of this system is to encourage the child to self-education, self-education, self-development. “Help me do it myself”… This motto has accompanied our pupils for many years.

Our main task is not to give the child as much knowledge as possible, but to ignite the fire of knowledge in the child’s soul, awaken his imagination, so that he moves on independently, and the environment and teachers help him.

We hope that with the help of our website we will help you get the information you need.

We are sure that you will not remain indifferent to what is happening with your child, and therefore you will learn with interest about the weekdays and holidays of our kindergarten.

The first kindergarten in Russia was opened 157 years ago

    Alexander Kozhokhin / RIA Novosti

In our country, more than 7 million people work in kindergartens, including private ones. 99 percent of children aged 3 to 7 go to kindergartens. Where did it all begin?

The first kindergarten was opened in 1863 in St. Petersburg on Vasilyevsky Island. It was opened by the wife of the famous professor and teacher Karl Lugebil Sophia. The term “kindergarten” itself is a literal translation of the German word “Kindergarten”. And the first courses for the training of teachers in kindergartens were launched in the city on the Neva in 1871.

What was taught then? There was no special program – most of the classes were held in nature. Children played sports games. Particular attention was paid to “moral education” – girls and boys sang church songs, taught prayers. For the whole day the children were not left – for a maximum of half a day.

Since then, the principles of early childhood education have changed every 20-30 years. How? This was reported to the Ministry of Education.

1917 – 1919. Adopted “Declaration on pre-school education”. The document consolidated the main principles: the availability and free of charge of public education for all preschoolers. For the first time at Moscow State University. Lomonosov, a faculty appeared with a preschool department. At the same time, the All-Russian Congress on Preschool Education was held and the first kindergarten for deaf and dumb children appeared.

Particular attention was then paid to teaching elementary literacy and the alphabet. At the same time, the prototype of the “ABC” appeared in the country – the first edition of the book “Native Speech and Its Development”. Educators actively use it for classes.

The “quiet hour” has finally taken root in the kindergarten program.

1934 – 1938. The first “Kindergarten work program” appeared, as well as the “Guide for educators. Departmental kindergartens (adjacent to enterprises, factories) appeared. At the same time, the journal Preschool Education appeared. According to its data, at that time about 2 million babies

Children’s mornings began with morning exercises. Then there were developing lessons: the kids were taught to cut out of paper, sculpt from clay, and draw. Communication with animals was mandatory. Cats lived in many kindergartens and there were aquariums – children learned to interact with wildlife. In addition, the kids were taught counting and even design: each group always had a model of an airplane) .

1944 The Great Patriotic War left many children without parents. At this time, pre-school boarding schools and orphanages with round-the-clock stay appeared, where orphaned children lived. The number of places in the new institutions grew rapidly. What were they taught? Basically, patriotism, internationalism, love for the Soviet Army, labor and defense. All other disciplines were relegated to the background – time dictated its priorities.

1959 There were nurseries where you could send a child from 2 months. At the same time, a comprehensive model education program was created, which became a single working document for all kindergartens in the country.

1965-1970. Specialists are developing a six-level system of work with children: through knowledge, understanding, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation.

The professional level of educators has grown significantly, education is moving forward by leaps and bounds.

The number of children in kindergartens has already exceeded 15 million.

Now preschoolers are learning the basics of the English, Belarusian and Ukrainian languages, mathematics, native speech and even literature. Children learn to retell literary texts. Physical education and sport became important again. Children were trained and hardened, sometimes radically: vats of cold water were placed in the classes and it was necessary to bathe in everyone in turn.

1984 – 1990. The first “Model Kindergarten Education Program” appeared in the country, which prepared preschoolers for schooling from the age of 6.

2010 – 2020. The system of pre-school education has changed dramatically. Possession of specific skills and abilities has given way to the development of independent activity of kids.

In 2013, , for the first time in Russian history, the Federal State Educational Standard was adopted – the federal state standard for preschool education. If earlier children were offered to simply know and apply knowledge, now they are taught to independently find solutions to atypical situations, and choose what they want to learn? The advent of the Digital Educational Environment has made the cognitive process interactive.

    Officially

    Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education:

    – According to the national project “Demography”, the availability of kindergartens for children from 1.5 to 3 years old should be 100 percent by 2021. The task set by the President is to ensure the availability of kindergartens for children of all ages, including nursery groups. The national project “Education” provides for the construction of new kindergartens, where there will be all conditions for the full and healthy development of the child.
