Prince William County provides “alternative” school services to what they consider to be “problem teenagers”. Students who become pregnant, sell or use drugs, write graffiti, have common behavioral problems, or are prone to violence are usually sent to study together in the same institution, regardless of their primary school. Eligibility Requirements
Families who are new to Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) but have not yet enrolled their children for the school year should visit the PWCS enrollment page. You can register online at any time. Your school’s page. Your zoned school will also be listed during the online enrollment process.
The PWCS Global Welcome Center is open during the summer to recruit and evaluate students who may be eligible for English Language Services. Families must make an appointment at both locations. The Global Welcome Center takes care of families every day of the week from 8:00 to 4:30.
A certified copy of the child’s birth certificate is required for admission, as well as proof of residence and a valid vaccination certificate signed by a healthcare professional. Students in grades K-5 are also required to complete a full medical exam 12 months after the child enters the public school system. The Virginia Code requires children to have a complete physical examination within 12 months of entering school and be properly vaccinated before entering a public kindergarten or elementary school.
ENTRY
The following procedures, based on the Virginia Code, govern the age at which students enter Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS):
A child of five years of age may enroll in kindergarten during the school year. Children who do not meet the kindergarten age requirements will not be enrolled in kindergarten and will not be enrolled in kindergarten at PWCS.
In exceptional cases, a child who is five years old after school cannot apply. children of active duty parents (active duty means full-time military service OR active military service in the United States, including National Guard and Reserve members with active duty orders under 10 sections 1209and 1211 USC) who move to Virginia has provisions that are covered by the intergovernmental military pact. This provision of the Intergovernmental Military Pact only applies to students from active military families who are transferred to Virginia from an offshore local educational agency (LEA).
Children of active duty parents are enrolled in daycare even if the child did not attend school, but the child will attend out-of-state law enforcement daycare unless the military family has relocated.
Children of parents on active duty may continue in the classroom if their class acceptance status (including Kindergarten) complies with the LEA in the sending state at the time of the military member’s family relocation, regardless of the minimum age requirement. A student who completes the required LEA grade in their home country may enter the next higher grade in the host country, regardless of the minimum age. The receiving state enters the school in the receiving state at a validated LEA level in the sending state.
Once a student is officially enrolled in kindergarten, the student is expected to attend school regularly, except for absenteeism for a valid reason.
For children who are under the age of five years of kindergarten by the school year and whose parents/guardians are attempting to enroll the child in first grade, the following criteria must be met: education (VCPE), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) or equivalent. or any other person who supervises or cares for the child or children is not classified as a recognized kindergarten program. The legal guardian must provide evidence of successful completion of the kindergarten program (certificate or transcript).
The parent/legal guardian must contact the principal at the specified time.
Tuition
In Prince Williams Public School, parents have the option to pay weekly fees for their children based on the number of children they bring. The tuition fee for one child can range from $60 to $90.
