Child Care Center | San Antonio, TX | Top Child Care Providers
Dr. Maria Montessori founded the Montessori movement in teaching and learning. It was her belief that each child has the ability to learn and should be nurtured and taught individually. This is the foundation of our child care center, from the Infants to Kinder Readiness. This is why we believe we are one of the top child care providers in San Antonio, TX!
At Sunshine Montessori Academy, our trained staff and comprehensive curriculum allow each child to receive far more than just supervision. Our students spend their days curious, inquisitive, and engaged. We provide full-day child care services for children from the age of infants through the pre-kindergarten years, and a child of any age has much to gain from our program. If you are searching for an early childhood school in the San Antonio, TX area, we invite yo to visit Sunshine Montessori Academy.
INFANT CARE
At Sunshine, we believe learning begins as soon as your child is enrolled in our care, even before they can walk and talk! Our caregivers make sure our infants have the best possible care in a clean, structured, and fun environment.
In between feeding time, nap time and changing time; we are also providing stimulating, age-appropriate educational activities and tasks for our littlest learners. We have the created a classroom that will help develop each childs gross motor skills (crawling, walking, pulling up on their own) and fine motor skills (self feeding, playing with handheld toys, reaching and grabbing objects). Story time and Sing alongs throughout the day will not only sooth an infant, but will help develop their language and cognitive skills as well.
While our care is no substitute for Mommy and Daddy’s love and attention, we do believe it’s the second-best thing!
TODDLER CARE
We encourage our toddlers to be self-motivated and fully engaged with the learning experience. We’ve structured the lessons and materials to help kids stay involved and motivated.
Our teachers are trained to give each child individual attention and an individualized curriculum. Our goal is to teach every child that learning can be fun. The curriculum is specially geared to young children, putting them on the right path to a lifelong love of learning. We introduce a new letter, shape, and number every month. Our children learn about the seasons and the world around them.
We place our toddlers into three main rooms:
- Walkers: 13 months – 17 months
- Toddlers: 18 months – 23 months
- Younger 2’s and Older 2’s
Give your child the head start he or she needs with a Montessori inspired child care experience. Children at Sunshine Montessori Academy get to learn while still having plenty of time to play and form friendships. Our child care center is the top location in the San Antonio, TX area! Doctors in the USA are fighting for the life of a boy born without skin
A boy without skin was born in the USA, doctors are fighting for his health. The kid will have several major operations and it is not known whether he will be able to survive them.
In the US, doctors are fighting for the life and health of a boy born without skin, reports the news portal Eyewitness News . A three-month-old baby will have to undergo several difficult and complex operations.
Jabari Gray was born on January 1st in San Antonio and caused confusion among doctors. The baby had almost no skin below the neck, and his eyelids were stuck together. The only thing they could do to help in the hospital was to connect the baby to the artificial life support system.
Aplasia cutis congenita, congenital absence of skin, is a rare pathology, the causes of which are not fully understood. Depending on the affected areas of the body, patients are divided into five groups. The scalp is most commonly affected and babies are born without scalp skin. The affected areas look like open wounds. The anomaly occurs in one in 10,000 babies.

The likelihood of this abnormality is increased if varicella-zoster virus and herpes virus are infected in utero, and if the mother has taken drugs such as methimazole, misoprostol, valproic acid, or used marijuana and cocaine during pregnancy. Also, ACC occurs more often in children with genetic abnormalities associated with many developmental anomalies – Johanson-Blizzard syndrome, Wolff-Hirschhorn syndrome, Adams-Oliver syndrome. The latter is characterized by the absence of skin on the head.
After much litigation with the insurance company, the parents succeeded in getting their son transferred to the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, where the boy is ready for a skin graft. First, however, you will have to work with the baby’s airways so that he can be disconnected from the ventilator.
Priscilla Moldanado, the boy’s mother, reports that she had no complications throughout her pregnancy. But at 37 weeks, the doctors found that the fetus was not gaining weight and performed an emergency caesarean section.
Only then did it become clear that the boy had no skin everywhere except for his head and legs.
It was possible to transfer the child to another hospital due to public outcry. At first, the insurance company refused to do so, but after Jabari was reported on the news, complaints from outraged people rained down on her.
“It’s amazing,” says Moldanado. “It’s amazing how one word changed the whole situation for the better.”
Lack of skin is not a disease, but a symptom of a genetic disorder.
According to doctors at the Texas Children’s Hospital, the boy’s diagnosis is epidermolysis bullosa.
Epidermolysis bullosa is the formation of blisters and erosions on the skin with even minor mechanical injuries. The disease is associated with defects in the genes responsible for the formation of proteins – their correct operation is necessary for regeneration. It manifests itself already at an early age, such children are called “butterfly children”. This is a rare disorder, affecting approximately one in 50,000 children.
There are no radical treatments for epidermolysis bullosa – all help for patients is to prevent skin damage and care for the resulting blisters.
Since epidermolysis bullosa is a hereditary disease, Jabari’s parents are now waiting for the results of genetic tests that will show if either of them is a carrier of the defective gene.
“It will be two or three weeks before we get an answer,” says Maldonado. “Doctors don’t want to treat my child for the wrong disease.”
So far, the doctors are giving the baby painkillers and changing the dressings frequently. His condition has improved, over the past months he has almost tripled his weight.
But Jabari also suffers from complications.
Although skin began to appear in some areas, his fingers were fused, and his chin was attached to his neck.
Doctors already have a plan of action. First, they’re going to make a small incision above the throat to remove the scar tissue that binds the chin to the neck. After the boy recovers from the operation, they will transplant new skin into him.
“Even if he survives this, we don’t know what’s in store for us,” Maldonado admits. We’re just praying for him. Every day is a blessing.”
In order to cover the costs of Jabari’s treatment and the medical equipment he will need after his discharge, the boy’s parents had to start a fundraiser. Caring people have already donated almost $24,000 to the family. Their goal is to raise $50,000. From genetically modified stem cells of the epidermis, they created skin grafts, which were transplanted to the affected areas of the body – arms and legs, the entire back, sides and partially on the stomach, neck and face. After the first operation in October 2015, the boy’s condition began to improve.
By February 2016, the treatment was completed, all grafts were successfully engrafted.
Recent examinations have shown that the new skin performs all the necessary functions, has a hydrolipidic film, hair follicles are also active – hair growth is observed.
