Online Course Creator Examples – Heights Platform
Whether you are just starting out with your online course or you’ve been creating online for years, it’s always helpful to hear other creators’ strategies and learn from their experiences.
We asked creators around the world to share their tips and tricks that led them to the success they have today with their business on Heights Platform.
From launching an online course to marketing it, you’ll discover their secrets to success and learn from their mistakes. So keep reading below to find out!
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
One thing I believe really contributed to the success of Practical Podcasting for Beginners was doing a beta test with a small number of customers and working closely with them to make sure I understood how the course worked with live students. This let me check that the content of the course answered all their questions and I added in some extra elements to the final course as a result. It also gave me testimonials that I could use in my marketing.
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
If I was starting my online course business from scratch today I’d spend less time worrying about which course platform to use, pick one (Heights obviously) and get course building!
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Without a doubt, three key things I’d recommend to any new course builder are:
- Build an audience BEFORE you create your course so that you have people to launch to
- Test your course with a small number of customers before you actually launch it
- Ask for video testimonials from these customers that you can use to market your course – that social proof is a game-changer.
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
The one thing I did right, was simply “get started”. It is so easy to get caught up in analysis paralysis on “how” to build the course. However, the Outline within Heights Platform makes it easy to visualize the structure of your course. So, just get started!
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
Take advantage sooner of the amazing Bundle Options that are available. Heights Platform truly is a company that listens to their customers and did amazing work to create the bundles with various pricing options so that creators can offer their programs in many different ways!
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Just put it out there: you don’t need to have the perfect course! As you gain more insight into your course you will build upon it. So, don’t let perfection be your enemy. Put your course out there and allow it to evolve!
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
I have a ton of advice for newbies in general but this is probably my top one:
Act before fear. There is no greater skill to have as an entrepreneur than to just get things done. The longer you wait to act, the more time you have to convince yourself it’s a bad idea, that you’re not capable of it, that you should put it off and wait for a better time.
99% of the time this is just the anxiety in our brain trying to stop us from doing something new and scary. So if you’re thinking about making an online course, just start. Don’t wait for a time when you’re less busy, or when you have more money, or when you’re not juggling so many things because that time won’t come — if it had, you would have changed your life years ago! Be brave, and take that first step.
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
As a tip, we’ve opened an Amazon affiliate account initially to recommend kitchen-friendly tablet/phone holders to allow people to comfortably cook without having their device use up counter space, and we have now added a bunch of kitchen gadgets to the list – all this has generated an additional revenue stream.
Our program is completely non-linear – members can start in any section, or skip any lesson they wish…Right now we have over 100 Lessons and we are adding 4 to 6 new lessons every month. We feel this constant addition of new content will help retain members. But with that large number of lessons, organization is key so that the members can find what they need easily.
The fact that each lesson can have its own image is invaluable – it is much easier for subscribers to visually scan hundreds of pictures compared to text when searching what they want to learn next. When we first joined Heights, this feature (thumbnail picture per lesson) was not available, we asked the help desk if it would be something they would consider adding, and within 48 hours, Heights had made that feature available. That is pretty stunning customer service! Together with how fast the interface responds and how easy it is to put a program together, we’d recommend Heights to anyone. We are certainly hooked!
The absolute #1 task I wish I’d completed sooner is a Course Creator Master (CCM) file! A CCM is a single control document or specs sheet, to track all of the important details related to your course. When you get busy with other parts of your course, or your business; it’s a huge timesaver to quickly reference your setup, effects or automations. You can include just about anything in a CCM! Here are a few of the items I include:
- Login information for each of the tools related to course creation
- A brand overview with fonts, color HEX codes and logo usage guidelines
- Direct links to ad accounts, Google Drive or Dropbox folders
- Checklists for recording audio & video including video effects, recording quality and intro/outro screens
- Sample templates for social media, course and lesson images
- Specifics on the automations created in Zapier, Integromat or another tool
- Pricing information for tools with features on your wishlist
- Paid ad results including audiences, cost per click and click thru rates
- A CCM will ensure your course is consistent start to finish, your brand voice is clear and you can see your success!
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
Put a meaningful image at the beginning of each lesson or section if possible and if appropriate. Pictures can help frame the emotion and mindset of students. Pictures are also useful to break up lots of text as well, lowering the overwhelming feeling of too much information.
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
I’d create the course from inside Heights Platform. As it was, I created most of the content outside of the program. Copying and pasting was not only laborious, it was unnecessary. Heights had all the tools I needed to make it look just the way I wanted.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Repurpose blog posts and email newsletters into lessons. I am in the middle of creating my second course but I am doing so by sending email lessons out and receiving feedback. Any changes because of the feedback will end up in my course.
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
One thing that I believe really contributed to our online course’s success is focusing on a relatively small but passionate audience. In our case, we tapped our existing community of hammered dulcimer players.
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
I would start a free weekly newsletter immediately to build audience and interest and then transition it to a free/small fee for an extra content model as soon as my first courses were set up. I am setting this up now, but it would have helped to jump on it right away.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
I recommend just starting! It doesn’t need to be perfect, and you can pivot and adapt as you go. We began in June 2020 and gradually offered short classes and tutorials over 6 months to understand what our peeps want and need. We launched our first big course in December to great success.
“Our dream of a digital learning platform was and is a big dream. Big dreams are not always easy. You have to be willing to learn more, learn more and learn more again… Plus, you have to find the right people to help you with a solution that helps the dream transform to reality. Having the realisation that you can never stop improving on what you begin will help you towards success.”
Let’s see what are her tips for a successful course:
1. Map it out: having a clear understanding of what you want to achieve and a roadmap to how you want your platform to look helps to develop your program more effectively. Map it out on paper until you are happy with how your students/customers will eventually see the program. This will give you a clearer picture of what you are working towards. You can tweak this after publishing, but don’t get too caught up on the look or you will never get started!.
2. Keep yourself on a timeline: working to a deadline can be, for some, a way to keep your mind focused on a task. Course creation, whilst interesting, can get monotonous if you have a lot of modules to complete. Not everything has to be in a single lesson. You can break more complicated items into modules with smaller content.
3. Include some Video: video is an integral part of capturing your audience. Whether it is curated content or video that you produce yourself, the addition of video can make your platform more personal, and help to convey special items that you would like to reinforce. Pictures are a great resource too.
4. It doesn’t have to be boring: people want to be engaged, so have fun whilst you are completing your platform- it will show.
5. Complete it before you publish: Having your modules ready for a delayed release is much easier to manage than catch-up. After many weeks of course creation, you can get a bit laid back with new production if you are not careful, so be prepared.
6. Always look to improve on what you have: Consistent improvements help you add value to your courses. Especially if you are still in early development/publishing of your course.
7. Don’t forget to publish: It happens…. .!
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
One thing that I believe really contributed to my success is the difference in delivery. Rather than a transfer of information, I focus on inspiring people and motivating them to take action.
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
I would get a partner or an expert who can review the content creation along with me and plan more with video creation using scripts, etc.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
If you are just starting with your online course, I recommend having an accountability partner or coach to make sure you release the course because you can always make edits later.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
I recommend starting small and testing in a safe way all the issues that make you uncertain, uncomfortable, and anxious. Otherwise you’ll be blocked and not move forward.
Understand what needs to be clarified and then proceed in order, step by step, focusing on the results you’re looking for.
I started with an internal launch with my clients, for example, and that’s for sure one thing that helped me feel more confident.
They already learned to trust me, and can tolerate a sort of “beta version” and not something that is already flawless or mature, and that won’t reflect reality, knowing the value they will receive.
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
Thinking outside the box, I am using Heights for a course membership platform that integrates group mentoring, a mastermind, and monthly doing labs. Every month there are new courses for members.
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
I would have started sooner. Heights has such a clean design and is so feature-rich. I wish I had started sooner.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
The primary piece of advice I would give to someone starting out would be to map out your business plan and course flow.
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
Breaking down the course into bite-sized portions. Makes it more enjoyable for the students!
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
Record our videos in higher resolution!
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Try not to get overwhelmed. Building out quality course content doesn’t have to be hard. Start small, and build from there!
1. The first most important step is to have a platform that you’re going to use to build your school and a big note here, not all platforms are the same. I tried several other platforms before I found Heights and never produced any completed courses and became very frustrated.
Heights is like a visual editor you can see what you’re creating as you build and it’s easy, intuitive and no tech skills needed. I was able to create my entire online school in a matter of weeks and it looks professional and easy for my students to navigate which is also particularly important.
2. Once you have your program set up in Heights, have your content created and ready and a map or plan of how you’re going to deliver the content. If you can’t do this yourself then use online freelancers to do the tech stuff for you, which is what I do especially creating graphics and banners for my pages, look at websites like Fiverr.com.
3. Your courses will evolve and change many times before you are happy with the result. I am constantly changing and tweaking the text and content of my courses and I have found many other ways of packaging my content and coming up with new courses I never thought of before, Heights helps you be creative and do more.
4. Once you have your courses loaded and ready to go you can develop your marketing and start driving traffic to your courses. I already have my web sites up and running for a long time, however knowing what I know now about Heights, if I had to do it over again, I would not have a web site and instead just market directly to my Heights landing pages or create landing page funnels and then direct to your Heights pages for signup. I am slowly converting and transitioning to this process and will fade out my websites one day which will save a lot of maintenance time and cost.”
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
I believe that my 21-day Abundance Challenge online course’s success is designing the course-curriculum and layout of the program to accommodate various learning styles. Most often, course creators teach in their own preferred learning style, which may not serve all your course attendees, participants, and students. Mapping out the course content and outcomes I wanted to achieve helped me put all the pieces together faster. Heights Platform’s course creation “climb outline” mode allows me to quickly create course structure and strategize to see the big picture to systematically add the content and resources for student learning and success.
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
2021 is my 10th year building and running my online business. Like many, I have had my fair share of business mistakes and have tried to learn from them. Success in life is about your energy and timing. If you can learn to manage both and cultivate self-discipline, commitment and determination to solve problems, everything is possible. Most people are scared of their own success. They are fearful of dreaming big, and then they don’t have the willpower to follow their own goals and desires.
If I started my online business from scratch today, the advice I would give to my younger self would be to keep self-care on the top of your business and personal list. And not wait too long to start converting your knowledge and experience into online courses. I wish Heights Platform existed 10 years ago when I started building my online business.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
I believe there are 4 significant parts to any successful online course content:
- Content that you are passionate about that helps solve a problem or a pain point.
- Content that is enhanced with visuals, videos, and/or audio.
- Content that encourages higher-order thinking skills.
- A course that supports the larger vision and growth of your students and your business as well.
Ensure you understand the setting up of your online courses in context and relationship to the 4Ps of Marketing — Product, Place, Price, and Promotion. Creating course systems can be overwhelming. Self-discipline, commitment, and breaking it down into daily steps for course creation can help you launch your brilliance! Do not be afraid to work with an expert in helping you create your courses.
An excellent online platform like Heights Platform takes a lot of technical pressure off of your chest. Still, no platform will write your content and design branded courses automatically. I have helped many clients birth their soulful projects into books, online courses and design branded programs to monetize their knowledge.
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
I have spent a long time creating a solid website with a lot of free information and a blog filled with relevant articles for my audience. Besides that, I reinforced it with a free program in my YouTube channel and talked about it in other media. Because of all this previous effort, the course now sells itself.
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
Yes, it was hard for me at the beginning to understand that I had to communicate as simply as possible. I wish I could have started my YouTube channel earlier uploading daily or weekly!
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Create a community interested in your free content. Create interactions with them and search for places online where you can give talks that will help you build an image of authority around you and your brand.
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
I believe patience and knowing the overall direction I’m heading when creating my online courses are crucial to the long term success of this alternative stream of income.
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
I would spend more time understanding the needs of my target audience.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
As you’re able to create multiple courses and lessons in one program, it is good to have an overarching idea of what your program will be about and who your target audience is. Once you have decided on the program focus area (eg. Health and Wellness; Career Success; Entrepreneurship, etc,) it’ll be easier to utilize the Heights Platform’s “Climb Outline” to start creating the “skeleton” of your courses, the modules and the lessons within.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
If I was starting out again from scratch, I would have made it so much easier for myself by setting up a sales page and landing page within Heights when I started. I hadn’t anticipated that this option was available. And so I was manually importing my students into the platform when it could have been done automatically. So all I am saying is that where there is an automated system in place, it is going to be so much easier for your students and lead to better sales and better flow and less work for you!
What is one thing you did right that contributed to the success of your online course?
I think the main thing I did is to write a great sales page. Then, you put a button directly to your platform and the rest is ready!
If you could start from scratch, would you do anything differently?
Probably I would make a smaller course. My current 3D printing course has 123 lessons!
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
To invest in a great program to learn how to promote my course: run away from the $3000 dollar marketing course, most of them only show you how to sell other $3000 marketing courses.

Project-based learning brought UrFU to digital heights: Society: Oblgazeta
The digital nature of project-based learning allows the university to expand the geography of its partners. Photo: Aleksey Kunilov
Ural Federal University summed up the results of the project-based learning innovation service. In early January, this service received the national award “Digital Peaks”, which was announced at the Gaidar Forum. UrFU was in the top four among 800 applications from 23 regions of Russia. What is special about the new method of teaching students, the Oblgazeta understood.
The essence of project-based learning is that the work of students is evaluated by specific customers. They can be both large companies and representatives of medium-sized businesses. A potential customer registers in the university system, describes the task that he needs to solve, and then, after some interaction with teachers, completely controls the process of completing this task.
Knowledge alone is not enough
For many students of the Ural University, project-based learning is included in the mandatory program. That is, if you, for example, are a student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and cannot design a communications network for an enterprise, you will not receive credit. If earlier the concept of universities was based on the fact that teachers assessed knowledge of theory, now this is not enough.
– Modern students are not very interested in case studies. They want to try themselves in real tasks. It is better for our partners to select team members for solving the tasks that they face. Based on this fact, we, like all higher education, are faced with a problem: in order to drag the educational task into the real space, it often takes a lot of time and effort,” said First Vice-Rector for Economics and Strategic Development Daniil Sandler .
According to Valentina Ovchinnikova, Deputy Vice-Rector for Development of Educational Activities, at the start of the project, in 2018, there were very few such programs. Now thousands of students are studying them. Next year, the university plans to expand the range of such programs to 50%. The number of partners has also increased. If at the very beginning only large engineering enterprises came to the university, now the humanities are also in demand in project-based learning.
– The boundaries of the faculty, programs, departments are dissolved thanks to the digital architecture of our service, Daniil Sandler clarified. – A student – no matter if he is a humanist or a techie – can choose a project according to his competencies and also apply for participation.
Tools and co-working spaces
As explained by the university, the university currently cooperates with more than 900 partners. Students complete over 1,000 projects per semester. All work is done digitally. Therefore, the need to control students disappears by itself.
To solve problems, companies allocate their own experts who interact with students. As a rule, these are top managers. They supervise the whole process, meet with students if necessary. In addition, customer companies often organize training for students at their own expense, as well as provide space and equipment for work. Sometimes they donate to the development of those areas in which they themselves are interested. Some partners helped build co-working spaces at the university so that students could work there. More than 4,000 square meters of space have been converted into a coworking format.
Although enterprises do not pay the university money for the work performed, the university considers the contribution of these enterprises to be quite high.
– For us, the time of highly qualified specialists who come and bring up-to-date skills is more important. Thanks to this, our students understand their industry even at the stage of studying at the university.
As Anna Zorina, Deputy Head of the Department of Strategic Development and Marketing emphasized, students who have completed successful work can find a job in the company. She is convinced that it is one thing to complete a learning task, and another to understand to whom this task can bring specific benefits. In addition, a successful project is a valuable thing for a portfolio.
It turns out that anything can become a project. Valentina Ovchinnikova recalls how the Kalinin plant challenged her team to make equipment for spreading sand to spread ice. Some students drew sketches of the future coworking space as a project. Teachers emphasize: white walls and chairs in one of the university co-working spaces remain without a single scratch. And without a single obscene inscription. Although there is no video surveillance. This is because students value their work.
From sand to polls
Some projects are socially important. UrFU student in the direction of “State and municipal management” Anastasia Stakheeva shared her experience of participating in project-based learning with the “Oblgazeta”. Her group was given a task: people are leaving Verkhnyaya Salda, although there is an international aircraft manufacturing enterprise there. It was necessary to conduct surveys and understand what could stop the outflow of the able-bodied population from this city.
– We visited the enterprise. When you look at the craftsmen who make the details… It seems to be small, but the plane won’t take off without them, you get inspired. I worked in a team that interviewed schoolchildren and students. The reason for their departure is most often the lack of higher educational institutions. There are no specialties in Verkhnyaya Salda that they want to enter. Able-bodied parents admitted that they want to leave because of low salaries, poor ecology and problems with roads,” says Anastasia Stakheeva.
According to her, many children would be willing to go to the local college if they could see how the enterprise works. You just need to organize a tour. Of course, for those who dream of a profession that is not related to engineering, another city is still more suitable. Many schoolchildren answered that they dream of becoming teachers, doctors, and working in the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In this case, no amount of cash injections, according to Anastasia, will force them to stay in Verkhnyaya Salda.
Another project gave Anastasia a job. Her help in maintaining the social networks of the public reception of the political party was liked by the curators of the project. After that, the girl was accepted as a specialist in the organizational department. Distance helps to combine work with study.

Climbing for beginners: the first climb in the mountains
Since ancient times, man has tried to conquer the highest mountains on the planet. And if earlier such expeditions were an extremely dangerous undertaking, then recently with the development of modern means of communication and equipment, they have become available to most tourists. However, until now, the conquest of mountains with a height of 4500-5000 meters remains a dangerous activity. Therefore, for beginners in mountaineering, special education and training programs have been devised. We will tell you in this article how to properly prepare and choose a peak for the first ascent, what to take with you and how to overcome all the difficulties along the way.
How to prepare for the first ascent?
Do I need to train before climbing? Necessarily! If you are in good physical shape and exercise regularly, it will be easier for you. If you can hardly be called an athlete, but you are determined to conquer the highest point in Europe or the main mountain of Altai at all costs, do not despair! In any case, the first rule of training beginners is constant and diligent training. Believe me, all the efforts spent will more than pay off at a height. In addition, it will be a shame if you do not reach just a little bit to the desired mark, because all the strength will end in the last meters. So make a training schedule and stick to it!
When should I start training? If you are, in principle, a sports person, then it will be enough to start exercising 3 months before date X. If your physical fitness leaves much to be desired and you don’t remember when you last went to a fitness club or went for a run, and climb a couple of floors up the stairs do not work without shortness of breath, then you may need more time to prepare. But once again, the main thing here is desire!
What training will help you prepare for the ascent? Before you go to conquer the top of the mountain, you need not only to put your physical shape in order, but also to train endurance and pump over the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. It is they who have the maximum load at height. Therefore, due to insufficient preparation, you can get off halfway. To prevent this from happening, go swimming, running, cycling, and cardio. Even better if you have already tried yourself in hiking and trekking in the mountains and know what it is.
How should training be done? First of all, training should be constant, effective and intensive. In addition, the load should gradually increase. In the case of running, be sure to do this taking into account the pulse. A well-planned run will not only help you lose weight, but also strengthen your heart muscle. When you run at a high heart rate, you allow your body to get used to the lack of oxygen – something you will definitely encounter in the mountains. To improve your fitness and endurance, also run uphill or climb stairs at a fast pace. Well, do not forget to rest a week before the trip.
Difficulties in preparation and climbing
Lack of motivation. We all know that to get things done, you need the right motivation. Best of all, beginners are motivated by an already purchased tour with an appointed travel date. Another way, tested on myself, is public preparation for climbing the mountain. For example, you can announce to friends, colleagues and relatives on social networks that after a certain period of time you will climb the selected peak. This is what our colleague Leonid Levdanov did by launching the hashtag #100days of Elbrus on Instagram. It will be difficult to go back in this case.
Insufficient physical fitness. How to understand that you are ready to climb and cope with the planned load? Can you walk up the stairs to the 15th floor at a fast pace? And do it 3-4 times in a row? How about running a 10 km cross country? If you answered yes to all these questions, then feel free to pack your backpack and go towards the desired peaks. However, remember that in mountaineering, good physical fitness is a prerequisite, but not a guarantee of success!
Altitude sickness and resulting ill health. Mountain sickness is the scourge of almost all beginners in mountaineering. The rarefied air at altitude leads to a lack of oxygen and hypoxia. At some point, you begin to feel a general malaise, headaches and nausea, your heartbeat is disturbed, your appetite decreases and sleep disappears. For a long time, many climbers suffered from mountain sickness. Now, if you properly acclimatize at altitude, as well as take medicines for headaches with you, the manifestation of mountain sickness can be minimized!
How to properly acclimatize at altitude?
No matter how well prepared you are, improper acclimatization can nullify all efforts and force you to turn off the path ahead of time. That is why before you start climbing a mountain, you need to get used to the rarefied air at a height. Believe it or not, the most common type of acclimatization of our time, the “saw tooth”, was developed only in the 1930s! This was done by our compatriots during an expedition to Lenin Peak, a well-known seven-thousander on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Later, the method they discovered was successfully tested in the Tien Shan and the Himalayas and became widely used in mountain climbing.
Prior to that, climbers either came and immediately stormed the height, often at the cost of their own lives, or slowly climbed to different heights and sat on them for a long time in order to finally get used to the rarefied air. In all modern ascents, a faster and more effective method of acclimatization is used – “saw teeth”. It consists in the fact that during the day you rise to a height, and then descend back for an overnight stay. Each time, the height of the ascent increases and, accordingly, the place to stay for the night turns out to be higher and higher. So you gradually approach the top. And in the end, you will be able to climb the mountain without harm to your own health!
Clothing and equipment for the expedition
So, after good physical preparation and competent acclimatization, the third important condition for a successful summit of the mountain is the right clothing and equipment. They should sit perfectly on you, be comfortable, not hinder movement, not interfere and not rub. At the same time, beginners in mountaineering do not have to immediately purchase all the necessary equipment for climbing the mountain. Most of it can be rented locally!
Personal items to bring on the expedition:
- a pair of thermal underwear and a quick-drying fleece suit;
- waterproof trousers and jacket made of membrane fabric, warm puff;
- socks, mittens and gloves, hat and bandanna or balaclava;
- double climbing boots and low climb trekking boots;
- assault backpack with a volume of 50-60 liters;
- sleeping bag – depending on weather conditions and season;
- sunglasses or ski goggles, high SPF sunscreen;
- personal small first aid kit, flashlight, thermos and good mood!
What can be rented on site from climbing equipment:
- crampons and ice axes;
- trekking poles:
- carabiners and harnesses with belay mustaches;
- avalanche equipment;
- tents, burners, pots and more.
How to choose the right climbing clothes and equipment for a beginner, what brands, materials and models to prefer and what to look for when buying, read the detailed article of our partners – the Sport-Marathon online store. By the way, for those who go with us to conquer the peaks of the mountains, we provide club discount cards for this store. And do not forget to purchase special medical insurance – our managers can help with its selection and purchase.
The best places for climbing in Russia
On the vast territory of Russia you can find hundreds of places for mountain trekking and hiking – the Khibiny on the Kola Peninsula, the Sayans in Siberia, the Urals, the volcanoes of Kamchatka and, of course, Altai and the Caucasus. However, if you want to make real ascents, appreciated in mountaineering, then go to one of the most famous peaks of Russia – Elbrus and Belukha in Altai!
Let’s say you have already decided which first peak you want to conquer. Without a doubt, for the first time you should go to such heights only as part of an organized group with professional guides and experienced instructors. Otherwise, you will have every chance to stay on this mountain. What you should pay attention to when choosing a tour:
- route and chosen side to climb – make sure they are suitable for beginners and do not require significant mountaineering experience.
- duration of the route – is there enough time for acclimatization and is it provided at all.
- number of participants and composition of the group – for every 3-4 tourists there should be at least one guide.
By the way, in 2010, Russian climbers got their own award badge – “Snow Leopard of Russia”. It is given to those who have conquered the 10 highest mountains of the country. Both Elbrus and Belukha are included in this list! Moreover, Elbrus, as the highest point in Europe, is also included in the list of “Seven Peaks of the World”, which includes one highest mountain from each continent. So the conquest of Elbrus is highly valued not only in our country, but throughout the world.
Climbing Elbrus for beginners
Elbrus is one of the most popular mountains in the world for climbing. This is because it is not only considered the highest point in Europe and Russia, but also suitable for beginners. At the same time, for beginner climbers, the best time to climb is summer. Then it is warmer, less snow, and the weather conditions are more merciful. However, in the case of five-thousanders, “warmer” means that the temperature at altitude drops only to -15°C, and not to -40°C, as in the winter months.
If you are going to the mountains for the first time, make sure that you climb Elbrus from the south – this route is considered the easiest. Also check that the tour program provides enough days for acclimatization. The ideal duration of the route for beginners is 9 days, as in our expedition “At the Top of Russia”. On this journey to the highest mountain in the country, we invite you to go!
What is included in the cost of our expedition to the Western summit of Elbrus (5642 meters above sea level):
- transfer from Mineralnye Vody to the start of the route and back at the end;
- accommodation in hotels and mountain shelters on the slopes of Elbrus;
- three meals a day;
- services of guides and instructors, training sessions with climbing equipment for beginners;
- walks along the most beautiful natural sights in the vicinity – the Pastukhov rocks and the Maiden’s Spit waterfall;
- spare day to conquer the peak in case of bad weather.
On your own, you will only need to buy tickets to Mineralnye Vody, as well as pay for the rental of individual climbing or hiking equipment on the spot. Worried about your trip? Read the report from this tour of our colleague Irina Milintsova, who several years ago, being a beginner in mountaineering, conquered the Western peak of Elbrus. From it you will learn why Elbrus can “not let in” climbers and why they take a chocolate bar on a hike.
Climbing Elbrus in a week
Have you been to Elbrus with us yet? Or maybe climbed other mountains of Russia and the world? Then we suggest you go on a more difficult expedition “Above the Clouds” with the conquest of Elbrus in seven days! On this trip we take only tourists with mountain climbing experience. As part of the trip, acclimatization at altitude will take place within only three days. Therefore, it is important for us that the expedition members understand what awaits them, know how to use all the necessary equipment and be accustomed to rarefied air.
As in the case of the 9-day route, we will climb from the south to the West Summit. Along the way, we will pass beautiful places – the Maiden Spit waterfall, the RAS observatory and the Pastukhov rocks, admire the magnificent views of the Caucasus Mountains and meet the dawn on the way to the top. You can join this climbing tour starting from the first May holidays.
The cost of the ascent includes instruction and support of the group by guides-instructors, accommodation, full meals, general climbing equipment. All you need to take with you is personal equipment, suitable clothing and medical insurance. You will also need to get to Mineralnye Vody on your own, from where we will pick you up and deliver you to the beginning of the journey.
Climbing Belukha in Altai
Of course, climbing Elbrus is a dream of all climbers without exception. However, the Altai Belukha is no less valuable for travelers. This is because the main peak of Altai, and the mountainous region itself, is considered one of the largest places of power in Russia. In addition, our 12-day Belukha tour “In the Heart of Altai” also includes trekking in the most beautiful places in its vicinity, rafting and hiking on glaciers.
The top point of Belukha is located at an altitude of 4509 meters above sea level, which is 1000 meters lower than Elbrus. However, this does not mean that climbing here will be much easier. In this case, tourists also need good physical fitness and mountain climbing experience is desirable. The elevation difference on some parts of the route reaches 1000 meters, in addition, the expedition members will have to carry the necessary equipment and food supplies. The good news is that some of the tents and groceries will be waiting for you at the campsites.
One of the advantages of this route is an active and interesting program even for those beginners who, for health reasons, decide not to continue climbing the mountain. You can always stay at the Ak-Kem base and go on radial routes with a guide. In addition, during the tour you will not only test your strength and endurance, but also acquire useful skills in mountain climbing. Part of the route will pass along the glacier. Therefore, before you hit the road, our instructors will teach you the necessary techniques for its successful completion. In any case, you will get a lot of positive emotions from this trip!

PCM – communication without stress! Know how to connect with everyone.
Process Communication Model® (or PCM®) is a science-based model that allows you to establish constructive communication with any, even the most difficult interlocutor, increase the effectiveness of any communication, while feeling comfortable and safe.
The model was developed in the late 1970s by Tybee Kaehler (USA), Ph.D. in psychology, who discovered how to accurately identify signs of constructive behavior and non-constructive behavior in the course of communication and how to respond appropriately to them.
Before the start of the seminar, you will fill out an online questionnaire, after which you will receive your individual personality profile. This will give you the opportunity to see and evaluate your daily and business communication in a completely new way, understand the reasons and mechanisms of your behavior, your reactions and feelings when interacting with different people. And most importantly, by applying the acquired knowledge and skills, you can easily, effectively and comfortably communicate with any person, remaining positive and motivating the interlocutor.

Yulia Gradova, MIR-TA Director:
“At this time, we are all overwhelmed with a lot of emotions. Some help us understand ourselves and accept circumstances and others, while others prevent us from thinking rationally.
We are transactional analysts, psychologists, we know that emotions are authentic and substitute .You may experience:
• sadness , sadness about what happens to loved ones or acquaintances – this is empathy, sympathy .
• fear for one’s life, for the life of relatives and friends — this is prediction, foresight.
• anger, anger if your security is really violated, and also before you start to act actively.
• even joy like a catharsis, after eight years of stress, if you were emotionally, mentally and, worst of all, physically, involved in the events.→ Getting in touch with our authentic emotion will allow us to be able to “Okayness” . Allows us to share and accept the emotion of another. We have the right to experience any of these emotions and others may experience any of these emotions. And they may differ from ours.
→ The condition of Adult is very important information. A person needs to know what others think in order to understand that he is not alone. It allows you to accept yourself and accept others. Ask questions using direct transactions and be prepared to listen. You may or may not like him. And, yes, this is not that category. Correct internal attitude: “You are OK, I heard your answer, thanks for the honest answer, I accept it.
