The Müller family founded the company in the late 1920s and immediately established itself as one of the best manufacturers of brass components.

Muller’s firm in Erlangen

The Müller family expanded their own production in Erlangen several times to fully meet market demand. The post-war change in the musical tastes of listeners, the advent of the era of rock and roll and other factors completely changed the market for musical instruments. At the same time, the United States became the center of guitar design, and Asia, primarily Japan, Korea, Indonesia and China, became the center of mass production of guitars.

Höfner moved production to China, and Framus could not stand the financial difficulties in the 70s and were forced to file for bankruptcy.

In these difficult times, the company itself also changes: in the 1980s, Horst Müller’s son, Klaus, takes over the management. He decides to focus on producing high quality guitar components and partnering with major progressive guitar manufacturers. Klaus ensured that retailers and American distributor Allparts had state-of-the-art equipment while deepening relationships with renowned US guitar makers. Klaus Müller was highly regarded in the guitar industry for his professional and open approach to collaboration.

ABM Berlin

Unfortunately, Klaus passed away suddenly in 2007. To keep the company afloat and find a worthy successor, Bernd Römer, the guitarist of Karat, facilitated a partnership between Müller’s widow and Jowo-Schreibfeder. Father and son Hildebranda, engineers and tool manufacturers, took over the management of ABM in 2008. Today, production is developing thanks to the former employees of the factory in Erlangen and music industry professionals from Berlin.
