Throw the ultimate grown up or kids Super Bowl party this year with the help of a few fun games. They’ll get your guests pumped up for the big game, tuned into the action, and having a blast during halftime and the commercials. The great thing about Super Bowl party games is that even if you have guests who aren’t really into the football match, they can still have a great time at your party. Choose from two categories: Super Bowl party games for the adults and games for the kids. If you are having a crowd of families over, select games for both the adults and the kids—that way everyone will be happy.

The 13 Best Family Games of 2023

Super Bowl Party Games for Adults

There’s something here for all types of people, from the football fanatics to those just interested in the wings and beer. While these are great games for adults, you can take away any grown-up elements to include younger football fans, too.

  1. Touch or Flag Football: A game of touch or flag football gets the crowd pumped up before the game or gets everyone moving during halftime.
  2. Football Toss: If touch or flag football is out, you can play a game of football toss. To play, lay a hula hoop (or any other round item) on the ground or hang it up, then the guests take turns tossing the football into the circle. You can keep score, or just play for fun.
  3. Super Bowl Prop Pool: Print out a series of game prop questions, and let your party guests make predictions on who will win, the final score, will someone score in the first 7 minutes of the game, and much more. If your friends are the betting kind, place a friendly wager with this one.
  4. Don’t Say It: Pick a word that guests cannot say during the party. If a guest says the word, they’ll have to pay a penalty. For instance, you can ban the word “football,” and each time a guest says it, they’ll have to take a drink or do a cartwheel.
  5. Super Bowl Commercial Bingo: To play this game, hand out blank Bingo cards (you can make your own Bingo cards and leave the boxes empty). Before the ads start airing, have players fill the boxes on their cards with the names of brands or ads they expect to see during the game (You can use brand names, or simply write things that are a bit more generic, such as beer ad, car ad, or snack food ad. ) The rules about how specific a category must be should be determined by the age group of your players. Once everyone has filled in their boxes, hand out pencils they can use to mark their cards. As the commercials play, cross out boxes that contain the ads you see. When someone marks off five boxes in a row, they call out Bingo (or a word of your choice to fit the occasion, such as “super” or “touchdown!”) Have game prizes on hand for players who score Bingos during the game.
  6. Football Charades: Football Charades uses all the common rules of Charades, but gives it a Super Bowl twist. A few words to help you get started: touchdown, field goal, cheerleader, helmet, football, team, quarterback, halfback, goal post, halftime, mascot, referee, announcer, and coach.
  7. Super Bowl Bingo: Print out free bingo cards that will have everyone watching closely for face-painted fans, cheerleaders, celebrities, timeouts, and more.
  8. Super Bowl Trivia: Have each guest take their best shot at this printable Super Bowl Trivia game that asks about the history of the game. Divide up into teams to see who knows the most.
  9. Rate the Super Bowl Commercial: Before the big game, print out some Super Bowl commercial scorecards where guests can rate the commercials according to categories such as favorite funniest, weirdest, dumbest, coolest, and least favorite. Print your categories on the score sheet and leave blank spaces where players can write in the names of their choices next to each category. They can also give each ad a star rating from one to five (or whatever rating system you choose), and leave some comments of their own (these are fun to read aloud later). When the game is over, add up all of the answers and ratings from players’ sheets and announce the winning commercials.
  10. Super Bowl Cook-off: Get out of the cooking by asking your guests to bring a dish for the Super Bowl party. Hold a taste-test and have everyone vote for their favorites.
  11. Super Bowl Party Photo Book Props: See who can make the silliest photos with these free, printable Super Bowl party photo booth props. It includes football glasses, a football helmet, and two quote bubbles.
  12. Super Bowl Squares: Use this free printable poster to get a football pool going for the big game. Guests pay a small fee to choose a square that predicts what the score will be at a certain point of the game.
  13. Football Bean Bag Toss: Set up a quick competition for your guests with a football-themed bean bag toss. Mark a small football field either inside or outside with masking tape, including the yardage as it will be necessary for scoring the game. Divide your guests into two teams, set them up at each end of the field, and have players take turns tossing bean bags onto the other team’s side of the field. Keep score of the yardage where the bags land. The goal is to hit a low yardage number or to land in the end zone for a touchdown, which is zero points in this game. If a player’s bean bag lands off the field, assign the toss 20 penalty points. The team with the lowest total yardage after all of the players have taken a turn wins.
  14. Make Your Own Super Bowl Commercial: Before game time, write down some of the types of commercials that typically air during the Super Bowl. Fold them up and place them in a football helmet. Divide guests into teams of two or three people. Give them some props and some time to make up and rehearse their own commercials. During halftime, have each team present its commercial to the rest of the guests, who will vote for their favorites in categories like funniest, most interesting, most creative, or whatever suits your particular group of ads.
  15. Guess What’s Next: When the game begins, have everyone guess what the first commercial of the break will be. Have everyone who guessed correctly stand up while everyone who guessed incorrectly remains seated. Standing players will then guess what the next ad will be, and again, anyone correct remains standing. All players left standing when the game resumes gets a point. Play this game during every commercial break, and see who has the most points at the end of the game.

If you’re stuck at home on a school vacation or snow day, create your own treasure hunt with some unique scavenger hunt clues for kids. This fun activity gets kids moving as they search for a location that has an item (or another clue) waiting in its spot. The first clue leads to the next spot, and so on, with a treasure, like a toy or a treat, residing at the final destination. A self-directed scavenger hunt empowers kids to complete a task independently (or cooperatively, if playing with others). At the same time, they learn the skills of sequencing and following steps in order. Our list of ideas for scavenger hunt clues (complete with answers) gives you the inspiration you’ll need to transform your home or space into a full-fledged stay-at-home game mecca.

Types of Scavenger Hunts

The type of scavenger hunt you create is dependent on the age of the kids involved. Increase the level of complexity and scope of the search appropriately. Determine the type of hunt that is right for you and your kids, and then create and print out clues.

  • Indoor Hunt: Indoor hunts are best for smaller kids with shorter attention spans. Easy clues can take them from room to room with a final treasure waiting at the end.
  • Backyard or Neighborhood Hunt: If your kids are old enough to tackle a scavenger hunt without supervision, open it up to your backyard, or get the neighbor kids involved in a neighborhood-wide search. Bigger hunts can be tackled in teams, making sure to always use the buddy system.
  • Themed Hunt: Holidays and birthdays make great opportunities for you to plan a themed hunt. Match the theme of the scavenger hunt to that of the party or holiday, and then let multiple treasures be the party favor for guests.
  • Photo Hunt: Older kids can engage in a timed photo scavenger hunt where all clue items need to be photographed on their phone in a given timeframe. You can also create a hunt where clues are given as photos.

Tips

Create some ground rules before you get started (anticipating the excitement level of kids of all ages):

  • No running.
  • If more than one child is playing, make teams.
  • Take turns reading the clues.

Making Your Own Scavenger Hunt

Create your own hunt by editing the scavenger hunt clues list to incorporate items specific to your home, backyard, or neighborhood. If your space contains more than one of the answers, have the kids check more than one location before getting the next clue. Ambiguous clues can make the game last longer, and it gives the children more brain and body exercise, which adds to the fun. You can also make the hunt more challenging by assigning each answer a point value based on difficulty. Tweens, especially, enjoy this type of challenging hunt.

Tip

Write your own clue riddles using these tips:

  1. Play on words: Trip up readers with double meanings, anagrams, or rhyming words.
  2. Create a puzzle: Sprinkle in word searches, acrostics, crosswords, or cryptic ciphers.
  3. Get trivial: Incorporate trivia questions and answers that lead to the next clue.

Outdoor Scavenger Hunts

Treat the kids to an outdoor treasure hunt when the weather is nice. Similar to the indoor hunt, use clues to point to items or locations in the yard or outside the house. If the kids are old enough to do a neighborhood hunt, have them form teams and make sure traffic isn’t an issue. You can even consider an enclosed park as a safe location, and create clues that point to different features and structures within the park.

The Spruce / Michelle Becker

Photo Scavenger Hunts

A treasure hunt involving a camera is a fun way to incorporate technology into the mix. Plus, tweens love using devices, like phones, to augment their daily experiences. There are two ways to tackle a photo scavenger hunt: 1. Take pictures of odd nooks and crannies in and around your home to use as “photo clues. ” Then, print out the images and place them in specific locations, directing the child to the next spot. 2. Create a photo-only treasure hunt by incorporating clues in which the answer needs to be photographed. Give the kids a set period of time to find the objects and take their photographs. They can work in a team or on their own. (This hunt is best suited to those old enough to use digital cameras or smartphones).

Favorite Holiday!

Birthday is one of the main holidays throughout a person’s life. This wonderful holiday, unfortunately, happens only once a year. But on the other hand, if you celebrate your birthday every month, then this event loses its magic and charm.

Toddlers’ birthdays are real events in the lives of their parents, they are prepared in advance, helping children create a real holiday with gifts, fun and games. Well, as an adult, a person takes over all the preparation for a birthday party or trusts professional agencies for a fee.

Yes, celebrating a birthday is a habit formed in childhood and instilled in each of us by adults. At the same time, we can safely say that this is a good habit, giving great pleasure not only to the hero of the occasion, but also to his close circle. Preparation for this event takes place in anticipation of celebration and joy, and the holiday itself pleases with many wonderful surprises, gifts, congratulations, positive communication with invited friends. The main thing is to organize everything correctly!

How to celebrate a birthday?

One of the main criteria for a good holiday, of course, is the availability of financial resources for its organization. However, even with low incomes and no savings, you can organize a cool holiday that will be remembered for a long time not only by the birthday man himself, but by all guests. For example, low-budget options include holding a holiday in nature or in the country. Even at home or in the office, with the consent of the management, you can organize a real party.

Preparing for a birthday party

Planning is one of the most important steps in hosting a birthday party. The optimal time for preparation of festive events is 3-4 weeks. This period will allow not only to plan the budget, but also to think over all the little things of the celebration, on which the success of the whole evening depends.

We are planning a venue

The number of invited guests and the budget of the celebration will depend on the venue. It can be, as mentioned above, your own living space, a cafe, a summer house, a restaurant or a different club. When choosing a venue for a party, you should take into account the time of year and the weather conditions expected outside the window on the day of the celebration. For example, celebrating a birthday that falls in the winter on the beach is at least uncomfortable. The best option for a winter party is to hold it in some room.

But for a summer birthday, a bosom of nature, a dacha or an open-air cafe is perfect. The same applies to a holiday on a boat or liner. It is not very pleasant to be surrounded by water on a cold autumn day.

Preparing the venue

If the venue is a private area – a summer house or an apartment – then it is necessary to do a major cleaning in advance, expand the space by temporarily rearranging the furniture. If the solemn event will be held in a cafe or restaurant, on a rented liner or in a sauna, it is required to arrange the lease of the premises in advance, having discussed the design options with the administration.

If the birthday is planned to be held outside the city, you should consider ordering motor transport, delivery and distribution of invited friends and relatives after the holiday.

List of invited guests

The list of guests depends on the number of people close to the birthday person, the budget of the event and the size of the room where the party will take place. In any case, you should include in this list only those people, in fact, you will be glad to see.

Your birthday is your holiday, so there is no need to pay tribute to society and observe vague norms of decency, inviting those who are unpleasant to you to your celebration. Invitations must be sent out in advance. Invitation cards indicating the place and time of the party will not be superfluous.

When compiling the guest list, the appropriateness of the venue and the number of people invited should be taken into account. For example, it’s not a good idea to invite your grandparents to a nightclub or your boss to a sauna, unless you’re in a very close relationship.

Menu selection

The menu, like the shopping plan, should be thought out in advance. The budget of the holiday will depend on this, in addition, early planning will help to avoid the fuss on the eve of the event. If the birthday will take place in a cafe or restaurant, snacks and hot dishes should be agreed in advance with the chef. You should inform the administration of the institution the number of invited guests and choose from the proposed list of dishes those that you like the most.

How to celebrate a birthday at home?

Holidays at home are usually not very expensive compared to restaurants or clubs. At home, you can enjoy communication with relatives and friends without officialdom, distractions and the presence of strangers, such as waiters or musicians. Although, the latter can be invited to a home celebration.

In any case, the birthday boy will be able to feel more relaxed in his own living space, and the atmosphere will be cozy and warm – family. If you wish, you can contact the agency for organizing holidays, and they will send a toastmaster or artists at the right time to diversify the traditional party at home.

To make a birthday party at home a success, you need to smartly decorate your living space with beautiful garlands, balloons, ribbons and flags. You can develop and prepare an unusual menu, think over an entertainment program – games, contests, charades and a playlist of musical accompaniment. In events held at home, it is very important that everyone invited has fun.

In a few days, you should look in specialized magazines or the Internet for recipes for new salads, appetizers, meat and fish dishes – everything that you will treat invited relatives and guests with. We should not forget about the cake, which is a very important attribute of a birthday. You need to set the table with beautiful dishes – let everything be at home on this day, but still solemnly!

Who is suitable for home parties: celebrating a birthday at home is perfect for people who appreciate home comfort and communication with loved ones in the family circle.

The main disadvantage of celebrating a birthday at home is the need for thorough preparation, which falls entirely on the shoulders of the hero of the occasion: you will have to decorate your home, set the table, think over entertainment, and after the holiday, also clean the apartment. In addition, you won’t invite a large number of guests to an ordinary apartment, as people will feel uncomfortable in crowded places.

How fun is it to celebrate a birthday in a cafe or restaurant?

In every modern town there are cafes and restaurants, various places of entertainment where you can successfully hold a birthday party. When choosing such a place, you should pay attention to two main criteria:

Reviews on city forums, a list of branded recipes, and the opinion of friends who have visited the restaurant before will help you figure out the first question. The answer to the second question will be the reputation of the group that plays in the evenings in the institution, but everything is simple – for a fee, the institution will organize entertainment for you for every taste, especially if the entire hall is rented by you for the evening of the celebration.

Restaurant reservations must be made in advance, no later than two weeks before the day of the event. The menu, the sequence of serving dishes, the entertainment program must be discussed with the administration of the institution in advance. By the way, it is the top manager or creative director of the institution who will help determine the design of the hall.

There is a budget option for holding a birthday party inexpensively and not within the walls of your own home: you can organize a party in a pizzeria or on the summer terrace of a cafe – it will cost much less than renting a hall. And the pleasure of the event will be no less.

Scenario of a birthday in nature

One of the options for a summer birthday party is a celebration arranged in nature. In invitation cards, it is necessary to indicate in advance that the event will be held outdoors, as they will need to dress appropriately, take the necessary accessories and attributes.

Of course, the hero of the occasion when holding a party in nature takes on the main preparatory activities. However, he simply cannot cope with everything alone. Therefore, you should specify in advance which of your friends will help you, and who will be responsible for what. Scenario of a pajama party with a photo session

An original version of a birthday party can be a pajama party. The tradition of holding such events came to us from America, where they are a long tradition. Today they are also loved by our youth for their intriguing overtones, so they are always accepted with a bang.

This type of holiday is suitable for young people who love unusual “gatherings”. This fun takes place without active games and is limited to passive entertainment: playing cards, backgammon and watching movies. You can diversify a pajama party with a pillow fight or a bottle game. But it is romanticism and mystery that distinguish such an event from other types of holidays.

The main rule of a pajama party is the spiritual intimacy of all its participants. Therefore, you should not invite unfamiliar acquaintances to such a birthday party. This will not only be inappropriate, but may put those present in an awkward position. Moreover, a pajama party involves a photo shoot. Funny hairstyles and makeup will be captured on film and will allow you to remember the holiday for a long time.

When organizing a pajama party, do not forget about candles that will add intrigue, light treats – it’s bad to eat at night, and sleeping places where invited friends can stay for the night.
