positive family atmosphere – Child development
One of the main components of a happy family is the bond between all its members: the ability to communicate, provide support and maintain relationships between parents and children.
Every family member wants to be understood, loved and paid attention to. If this happens, a strong emotional bond develops between family members.
Unfortunately, modern society is not always conducive to maintaining family ties. nine0003
Today we have so much modern technology, yet we communicate less and less with each other in person. The high rhythm of modern life leads to the fact that we devote less and less time to our family.
The cause of many adolescent problems (alcohol and drug abuse, juvenile delinquency, etc.) is the loss of emotional connection with the family. Even in wealthy families, children often feel unwanted. From this, they are forced to look for a source of emotional connection outside the family. If your child is still young, you should create and strengthen a bond with him as early as possible. nine0003
What is a family bond
A family bond is an emotional bond that develops between parents and children and is maintained over many years. Family connection creates a sense of security in a person, thanks to such a connection he feels like a part of the family. Family connection implies that all family members take part in significant events together, devote time to each other, create and maintain family traditions, etc.
Recent studies by American psychologists have shown that the connection between parents and children can protect them from many problems . Family bonding helps prevent a lot of health problems in teens and also reduces the risk of social problems. nine0003
Family communication works on a top-down basis, that is, it is always the parents who initiate it. Whether your child is growing up in a single parent or single parent family, you can create a parenting style that promotes family bonding.
Three Steps to Building a Family Bond
1. Consider your parenting style. On your own or with your spouse, consider what kind of parenting style you want to use with your children. What are your goals in education? What do you think good parents should be like? What values do you want to instill in your children? How can you help them become successful people in the future? nine0003
2. Create a plan. Identify the specific items that will make up your parenting mission. Outline the various areas that are important to your family, as well as your child-rearing priorities.
3. Create a system of actions with which you can implement your plan. Agree with your spouse about how you are going to raise children together. For example, minor problems can be dealt with as soon as they arise. More serious issues should be discussed with your spouse before making a final decision. nine0003
Allow for errors. There are no perfect parents – both you and your spouse will make mistakes in the process of upbringing. If you feel guilty, angry, or in conflict with your spouse, it will not benefit you or your children.
Finally, if you can’t get along with your spouse or children, seek professional help. A family psychologist will help you reach a compromise.
