If the customer has a problem with changing the route, the flight manager, through the airline, seeks permission to operate the charter flight at another time. In what sectors of the Russian economy can top managers claim the highest remuneration? Most of all in 2019, executives are paid in oil and gas companies, in heavy industry and telecoms
Forbes has been analyzing data on the salaries of top managers since 2006.
We take the largest companies from various sectors of the economy and look at how much the top executives in these companies earn on average. As a result, we get a rating of 12 industries in which managers earn the most. Industries are ranked by average remuneration of the first persons. The record for this rating belongs to oilmen — in 2013, the average remuneration of presidents of oil and gas companies amounted to $3.77 million. In 2019oilmen still remain in first place, but the record bar has not yet been reached – the average remuneration of the head in the oil and gas industry this year increased, but only to $ 3.28 million.
In 2007, thanks to a boom in IPOs and M&A deals, investment banks began to earn huge money and pay multimillion-dollar bonuses. The average compensation of executives in the industry then amounted to $3 million, in the oil industry – $2.4 million. Today, the heads of investment banks earn an average of $1.2 million per year, which puts them in fourth place in the ranking.
They are overtaken by companies from the heavy industry sector (the average salary of managers is $1.78 million, 2nd place) and telecommunications ($1.29million, 3rd place).
Transport (80%), oil and gas (45%), construction and development companies (39%), as well as retail chains (24%) showed the largest increase in the average remuneration of a manager.

How we calculated
The ranking of the 12 sectors of the Russian economy with the highest level of payment for top managers this year is based on data from six consulting agencies specializing in the selection of senior executives: Ward Howell, RosExpert, Odgers Berndtson, Horton International , Transearch, Recruitment boutique S.M.Art. The rating is based on the amounts of remuneration that companies paid to top managers in 2018 or appointed in 2019year.
The conversion rate of 65.3 rubles per dollar was taken into account (the average rate for the period from October 1, 2018 to October 1, 2019).
Industries in the rating are arranged in accordance with the average annual compensation of the first persons of enterprises. For each industry and for each position, the range and average value of the annual remuneration are indicated, taking into account all examples known to headhunters. The maximum amount of compensation is given without taking into account exceptional cases that stand out against the general background. The amount of compensation in the table is given before tax.
