When Yubleni Cazares came to the Fontana Unified After School Education and Safety (ASES) program as project manager in 2018, she immediately realized the potential of the program to provide crucial academic and socio-emotional support to more than 2,000 students across the District. Under the guidance of Cazares, ASES has developed into a model program that continues to grow.

Awash in a sea of red balloons, the Tokay Elementary School community showed its Tiger spirit when it celebrated the school’s 40th anniversary on Oct. 14 with a lively, music-filled ceremony that brought back memories of the 1980s, with students from each grade level delighting Tokay faculty, staff, parents and special guests by performing classic songs from the era.

The Board of Education provides direction for operating the District through actions taken at its meetings. Board members, as a body, develop the policies by which the educational programs and other business of the District are carried out. They may not act individually in the name of the Board; action may be taken only when the Board is gathered in a formal meeting with a majority of the members present.

Meetings are made available online to the public except for closed sessions, which the Board is permitted to hold to hear and consider confidential items such as matters relating to individual employees or students, litigation, and other subjects contained in the Brown Act. Certain actions taken in closed session are reported out during the open session portion of each meeting.

Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order N-29-20 dated March 17, 2020, the Board is authorized to hold this meeting via teleconferencing and to make this meeting accessible electronically to all members of the public seeking to observe and address the Board. Members of the public are welcome to participate through the public comment process. If you wish to comment on an item on the agenda or within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board, please review updated procedures below.

Public comments will be made in person via video conferencing or Board Chambers during the Board of Education meeting at the following locations: Fontana Unified School District – Enrollment Center Conference Room at 9548 Citrus Ave., Building A or in person at the John D. Piazza (JDP) Education Center, located at 9680 Citrus Avenue, Fontana CA 92335. Please arrive prior to the beginning of Closed Session if you would like to speak on Closed Session Items and/or prior to Open Session if you would like to speak on Open Session Items. Times for Open Session and Closed Session are posted with each meeting agenda. Individual speakers shall be allowed five (5) minutes to address the Board on each agenda or non-agenda item. For Special meetings of the Board, public comments are limited to agenda items only (Board Bylaw 9323; Gov’t Code 54954. 3(a)). The Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 25 minutes. With Board consent, the President may increase or decrease the time allowed for public presentation, depending on the topic and the number of persons wishing to be heard (Board Bylaw 9323). Speakers are cautioned that under California law no person is immune from liability for making intentionally false or defamatory comments regarding any person simply because those comments are made at a public meeting.

Individuals who require disability-related accommodations or modifications, including auxiliary aids and services, in order to participate in the Board meeting should contact the Superintendent or designee in writing at least two days before the meeting date. (Board Bylaw 9320)

Regular Board meetings are held in accordance with Board Bylaw 9320 in the John D. Piazza Education Center, 9680 Citrus Avenue in Fontana, as well as remotely, starting with closed session at 5:00 pm. Special meetings and study sessions are held as needed. Meet Long Beach – Sochi’s Pacific sister city

On April 11, 1990, Long Beach, USA, became Sochi’s sister city. The agreement on this was signed in the sister city, which is located 30 km from downtown Los Angeles.

Long Beach is a city of half a million on the American Pacific coast in California, USA. The community, founded in 1881, was originally named Willmore City , but because of its long, wide beaches, was renamed Long Beach in 1888 with the assignment of city status (” long beach).

By the turn of the 20th century, southern California had come to be regarded as a tourist hotspot. Long Beach began its resort history in 1910. Today it is the fifth largest resort in California. Everything you need for relaxation is here: sun, air, and water.

On the wide sandy beach, the city authorities have laid only a path, which the city residents are happy to use – on foot and by bicycle.

Every year from June to August, Long Beach Sea Festival takes place on the beaches, many competitions and entertainment are held these days: building sand castles, racing in motor boats, fishing and much more.

Long Beach is a mixture of a wide variety of areas: large industrial, residential, administrative and tourist areas.

The tallest building in the administrative and office part of the city is the 30-storey One World Trade Center, built in 1989. There are not so many high-rise (over 25-30 floors) buildings in the city.

The business center of the city has a large number of covered parking lots. There are no traffic jams on the roads.
