Mrs Amanda

Hello! My name is Amanda Vidal. I am a daughter of the pastors at House of Prayer church, mother of two children, and a wife to an SAPD officer. I graduated from UTSA with a Bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies and recently worked for Northside Independent School District.

I have been a children’s Pastor for 20 years and have been working with children since I was 17 years old. Serving in Church has given me a heart for children in our community and since working at Hop Tots, I have fallen in love with all of your babies. IN TEXAS – Our Texas – Russian Newspaper in Houston, Dallas, San-Antonio, Austin, Texas destroyed the city. But the boy said that he was already big and would go to school. Ever since the explosion at the chemical fertilizer plant that killed 14 people, injured 200 people and left many people homeless, Kayden has been having nightmares. His home and school were also destroyed, and the boy himself had to spend many hours in the hospital while many small fragments were removed from his eyes and forehead: the explosion overtook the child and his father in the car when they were driving from the church. “After such a tragedy, it is difficult for a parent to part with a child,” says Anderson. But Kayden, along with other children, returned to school on Monday, April 22, and the adult residents of the city went to work.

The Czech farming town of 2,800 is gradually returning to normal. Many areas close to the plant are still closed, water is turned off in many houses. And the water will be undrinkable for some time – residents of the town are advised to boil it. But most of the residents who were evacuated returned to their homes. West Elementary School, the only one of four schools in the area that was unaffected, took in 300 students from the destroyed schools.

Restoration and repair work is going on everywhere in the city, there is a smell of paint. West Mayor Tommy Muska said some of the blast-affected homes in the north of the city, including his own, are closed while the investigation is ongoing, but two-thirds are already waiting for their owners. Donations are constantly sent to the victims – warehouses are filled with food, drinking water and clothing. There are also donations. “This city will definitely get back on its feet,” he says, “just give it time.”

President Barack Obama said the same thing in his speech at the memorial service in Waco last Thursday. “America needs cities like West,” he said. We need people who love their neighbors so much that they are ready to give their lives for them. This tragedy, instead of changing you, showed everyone who you have always been and will be! He also asked to pray for all the victims of the tragedy, and then personally spoke with the families of the victims.

A student at Baylor University in Waiko, where a memorial service was held in memory of the dead, expressed dissatisfaction with the behavior of his fellow students during the memorial service. In a YouTube video, he says that many left the ceremony as soon as President Barack Obama finished his speech. But the service had not yet ended by this time. “You just left there. Are you seriously? – he is outraged in his video. “I’m sorry, West, that I study at this university and with these students who came only to hear one person speak!” This video generated a lot of response: people who attended the service also noticed that some of those present immediately went to the exit as soon as Obama’s speech ended. One woman wrote that she was the wife of a firefighter, and she was bitter to see this “mass exodus”: “The tragedy in Vesta brought us together, brought out the best in Texas, and such actions show the dark side of human nature.

Country music star Willie Nelson performed in Bee Cave, Texas to donate money to West residents. The show, which was held to a full house and gathered 6,000 spectators, was planned as part of the celebration of his 80th anniversary. But after the tragic events in the cities of West and Waco, the legendary musician decided to play a concert in favor of the West volunteer fire brigade. It turns out that the singer grew up in the nearby town of Abbot, and the towns of West and Waco, as Nelson says, are his native places. Part of the funds will go to the needs of the fire brigade, and part will go to the relatives of the dead firefighters who are experiencing financial difficulties.

Democratic members of the Texas State Assembly propose to abolish the death penalty. The topic of abolishing the death penalty is regularly raised in Senate hearings by Democrats and Republican Representative Jessica Farrar, but there are too many supporters of capital punishment in the state, and, according to experts, the execution will not be abolished. Opponents of capital punishment motivate their point of view by the fact that many innocently convicted people can be saved in this way: in the state of Texas, the largest number of innocently convicted people in the country who were released with an acquittal and escaped death. Supporters of the death penalty believe that some crimes are so terrible and cruel that the people who have committed these atrocities have a direct path to death row. Both sides will prove their point in front of the legislature soon.

Campaign to save major US department store chain J.C. Penney, whose office is based in the Texas city of Plano, continues. American billionaire George Soros bought a 7.91% stake in the troubled company, thanks to which the company’s paper jumped in price by 7% at auction.

Recall that the problems began when Ron Johnson, a well-known retail strategist who worked for many years with the Apple Store, was appointed to the post of CEO of the largest chain of department stores. Johnson dramatically changed the firm’s strategy, abandoning coupon discounts and sales, as a result of which the company’s financial difficulties turned into big problems: in 2012, J.C. Penney collapsed 25% to $13 billion, the biggest drop in more than two decades. As a result, the company received an annual net loss of $9.85 million. Johnson, of course, believes that he is not to blame: the tasks of leadership were set before him incorrectly, and it was necessary to achieve results in the shortest possible time, which was impossible. In early April, Johnson was fired, and his predecessor, Myron Ullman, returned to the post of CEO. It is likely that Ullman will return to the previous sales strategy in order to attract buyers back. In addition, he has to complete a store renovation begun under Johnson and resolve a dispute with rival chain Macy’s over the rights to sell Martha Stewart brand merchandise.

“Effective Ways to Reduce Prostitution” was a recent presentation by Dr. Ana Yanes Correa and Executive Director of the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition. Texas has the highest number of convicted prostitutes in prison than any other state, and a new report suggests cutting sentences for the oldest profession and sending them to special rehabilitation centers could save the state money.

“These people are victims, not criminals, and we need to create special places for them, help them get off the street and get on with their lives. So that they no longer have to go to the panel for a piece of bread,” says Dr. Correa. Prostitution became criminalized after World War II, when legislators tried to reduce the increased incidence of sexually transmitted diseases among soldiers. Currently, about 350 convicts are sitting in Texas prisons on charges of prostitution.

Senator John Whitmire of the City of Houston has long been trying to prove in the Senate that prostitution is not a felony. “I think it’s better to leave places in prison for real criminals, and send prostitutes to rehabilitation. It would be more cost effective for the state than keeping them locked up in jail,” he says.

Political analyst Janelle Roble agrees with him, adding that organizing rehabilitation programs for prostitutes is a way that will take a very long time to see results. “Social assistance is a more humane and cost-effective way to combat the level of prostitution in the state. This will help to draw attention to the root cause of prostitution, and, hopefully, in this way to avoid the return of convicts to such activities.

Creation of rehabilitation programs will be considered in the Senate, traffickers of “human goods” will also be held accountable.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry recently announced that he and his wife Anita Thigpen Perry will become grandparents – their son Griffin’s wife Meredith is expecting a baby. During a meeting with voters at the traditional Texas State Prayer Breakfast, he said that the birth is planned in June, but the sex of the child is not yet known. “We’re having a baby and it will change my life forever!” Rick added. The future governor met his wife in elementary school. Rick and Anita got married at 1982nd year and have lived together for over thirty years.
