Description:

I am offering an in home daycare setting for 1 or 2 additional children. I already have 3 children of my own (ages 2, 6, and 9). We live in a nice house in the Bon Air area. We have a large fenced in backyardwith a playground. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from VCU. I am also currently licensed through the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Qualified Mental Health Professional for Children (QMHP-C). I have spent the last 8 years working with children and teens profoundly impacted with autism spectrum disorders. I have 4 years experience working as an in home counselor to families with special needs children facing various challenges and implementing behavior plans. I have an additional 4 years working in a classroom setting employed as a teaching assistant at the Faison Center for Autism. I previously worked in a classroom with students diagnosed with autism displaying varying levels of challenging behaviors who are unable to attend public school and needed more one on one support. I had immensely enjoyed working in this field while helping families and children in this population achieve goals and grow in so many countless ways. I was however torn because working full time outside of my home with 3 small children for so many years was very difficult and I am now grateful to have found more balance between my professional life and family life by pursuing my passion for education and helping families and children grow while also being able to spend more time with my own family. I have countless years of experience as both an educator, mentor, and of course child advocate, not to mention parent to my own 3 children. I am also very well acquainted in helping students academically as well if needed. I am comfortable caring for children of all or any age and am fortunate enough to still have toys for older kids and also lots of baby equipment for use. We do circle/group time daily where we read, sing, and learn about various different topics and concepts. We are planning to do virtual homeschooling for the duration of this next school year due to health concerns. I am certainly open to helping families with children who are also pursuing this route long term. We cannot care for children where any direct family member is attending public school or a large daycare center as I have an autoimmune disorder and my daughter also has a disability that effects her immune system functioning. Any other questions please feel free to ask!…

Since ASAPSitters, LLC launched in 2008, we have provided babysitters for over 1,000 families in the Northern Virginia, DC, Richmond, and Charlottesville. Many of our new clients are referred by families thatare already a part of the “ASAPSitters family” – folks already using our experienced and reliable babysitters. We believe this is a true testament to the quality of our babysitters and service!
We take great pride in being able to match families up with trustworthy, creative, and dependable babysitters. As a mom myself, I would settle for nothing less. As a locally based service, we interview all of our babysitters during a very thorough screening process. We are also privileged to connect directly with local families who join ASAPS – and maintain a relationship with both our babysitters and families on an ongoing basis.
We’re very exited about how ASAPSitters has continued to grow and how we are a little part of that “village” it takes to raise a child. We are working on expanding our services to meet the needs of families in other nearby areas. In 2012, we opened a new branch in Charlottesville, VA in addition to our DC Metro area region. And in 2015, we opened our Richmond area branch. We hope to grow to serve more wonderful families in the near future!…

Reggio-inspired philosophy.
We believe children learn best when they are motivated to carry out inquiry and research. Within theirplay, the children’s own passions form the basis for in-depth investigations that lead them to develop understanding, to represent their ideas, and to develop a repertoire of social and emotional skills. Teachers and the specially prepared environment support the children in their investigations, making available a wide variety of media and materials in which the children can represent their ideas, questions, and theories, revealing their many forms of intelligence and developing facility in a variety of “languages” or avenues of expression. As children actively construct knowledge with teachers and other students, they acquire the habit of social responsibility, both as individuals who respect others, and as members of a learning community who can negotiate, collaborate, and seek solutions collectively….

Biden Fails Virginia Test: Republican Glenn Youngkin Elected Governor

Glenn Youngkin celebrates victory with his family in Virginia

US media reports that local elections, which were called a referendum of confidence in US President Joe Biden, will result in the new governor of Virginia Republican Glenn Youngkin. According to the results of counting 9With 9% of the vote, Youngkin leads Democrat Terry McAuliffe by 2.1 percentage points.

Mayors and local legislators were elected in a number of US states and cities on Tuesday, but the country’s attention was riveted on Virginia, where voters determined the next governor.

Glenn Youngkin is a 54 year old investment banker with no political experience. As the new governor, he breaks a long string of Democratic successes in Virginia.

Youngkin’s victory demonstrates that conservative politics is popular among moderate and undecided voters who are unhappy with mandatory vaccinations and the anti-racist rethinking of American history. Political analysts say that the outcome of this race also means dissatisfaction with the inaction of Democrats in Washington.

In his address to his supporters, Youngkin promised to immediately begin changes in the state. “For us, the countdown starts with real people, not with the government,” said the politician, who should become governor.

Democrats in trouble

President Joe Biden has promised record investments in infrastructure and education, but has been unable to get them through Congress for months, where members of his own party’s various sects are constantly demanding changes and revisions to the draft.

The End of History Podcast

Virginia has historically been a conservative state, but the Republicans haven’t won a major election here since 2009. The Democratic margin gradually increased, and in the last presidential election, Joe Biden confidently took the electoral vote from the state. However, Biden’s ratings have been falling in recent months – and recently hit the 43% mark, according to FiveThirtyEight.

“As you know, the president is not popular here in Virginia right now,” admitted McAuliffe, 64, who already served as governor from 2014-18.

Americans are unhappy with the increase in crime and a number of economic problems – inflation, rising gasoline prices due to the global fuel crisis and shortages of goods caused by logistical problems around the world.

Youngkin’s victory would mean that many of the strategies Democrats had hoped to use in next year’s midterms are not working, and that the backlash against the Biden administration is much stronger than Democrats feared, Wall Street Journal columnists argued.

But cultural disputes that divide many Americans also played an important role in this election campaign in Virginia.

One of the main problems is the right of women to have abortions. This fall, the state of Texas went into effect a law prohibiting abortion after the sixth week, with no exceptions for incest and rape. The Biden administration is trying to challenge the law and call it unconstitutional, but politicians in several conservative states want similar bans.

  • How to deceive the Constitution. A legal war has begun in the United States over the right to freely perform abortions

McAuliffe has promised many times to prevent such bans in Virginia. “I will always stand as a wall against Republicans like Glenn Youngkin who want to ban abortion here in Virginia,” the Democrat said.

It is true that Youngkin never spoke out against a complete ban on abortion, but he spoke out in favor of limiting the term for abortion to 20 weeks.

Controversy about racism

Another bitter controversy concerns the teaching of “critical race theory” in schools. Its supporters believe that race is not a biologically predetermined category, but a set of criteria created by society, which is mainly used to infringe on the interests of non-whites.

This theory goes much further in critique of American history than liberal and even more so conservative approaches, and describes the US as a fundamentally racist society.

The removal of General Lee’s statue in Richmond, Virginia

The 2020 Black Lives Matter protests against racial inequality caused many Americans to rethink their own history – and think about how to teach it in school.

However, conservatives and some liberals saw in these attempts at rethinking the ideologization of education and an attempt to indoctrinate children, indoctrinate them with Marxist ideas and make them feel like oppressors.

In the Virginia elections, Republican Youngkin bet that his dissatisfaction with the new currents would win him the support of moderate voters. At a rally on Sunday, he spoke out against critical racial theory – and in doing so, he referred to the words of the leader of the movement for the rights of black people in the middle of the 20th century.

“According to the immortal word of Martin Luther King, we are called to judge each other according to our personal qualities, and not according to the color of our skin. And therefore, there is no place in our school system for critical racial theory. So on the very first day [as governor ] I will ban her teaching,” Yangkin said.

One of the 50 US states is called “Little Ireland”. And not only because the ancestors of most of its current inhabitants came from this European country, but also because of the similarity of the natural landscape. This is the state of Virginia. The USA is a country of “assorted” in every respect. This applies to the population, and culture, and the diversity of natural landscapes, and architecture. In Virginia, you can see many quiet and cozy villages-towns, lost among the green hills and meadows, reminiscent of Irish settlements.

Virginia is a state that stretches from the shores of the Atlantic to the Blue Mountain and Allegan ranges. Area — 110,785 km 2 . Its closest neighbors in territory are the following states: Tennessee, North Carolina, District of Columbia, West Virginia – a state that, like Virginia itself, is included in 10 western Atlantic regions of the United States, Kentucky. The Delmarva Peninsula is located in the east of the state, but it is separated from the “mainland” Virginia by the Chesapeake Bay. By the way, in coastal zones there are vast territories that have turned into swamps. The western territories of the state are located on the slopes of the Appalachian Mountains and include the Blue Ridge and the Cumberland Plateau. The water arteries of the state are such rivers as the Potomac, Shenandoah, New River, etc. Most of the territory is covered with mixed forests.

In terms of its climatic conditions, this region is very diverse, because Virginia is a state that stretches for many kilometers, there are great differences between the weather conditions of the eastern and western parts. For example, closer to the coast, the climate is subtropical humid. But in the west – continental, more severe, with a lot of precipitation, especially in the winter months. There are often thunderstorms, lightning, hurricanes and storms occur near the ocean. Virtually every 7 years, Virginia is attacked by tornadoes.

Richmond is the main city of this Western Atlantic state. The largest cultural and historical centers of the capital are the historical society, which presents expositions about the life of the first settlers in the state, the Art Museum, the Richmond Ballet, the Capitol, Tredegar Iron Works – the oldest iron foundry in America. The city has many green areas: more than four dozen parks and gardens. Other major cities are Virginia Beach, Alexandria, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, etc. Each of them is interesting in its own way.

The state has official nicknames. For example, it is called “the birthplace of presidents.” After all, it was here, on this earth, that 8 American presidents were born, including Washington himself, as well as Thomas Jefferson and others. The official motto of the state is the phrase: “Such is the fate of tyrants!” Virginia is a state that is considered filled with history, it was the capital of the confederation, it was here that most of the events of the Civil War period unfolded. And Americans also believe that it was here, in the east of the country, that the first people appeared.

Virginia stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Blue Mountain and Allegan ranges. It is one of the most historic states in the country, the capital of the Confederacy, the site of many events and, as Americans themselves believe, the birthplace of the nation as such.

The capital of the state is the city of Richmond, and Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Alexandria are also major cities that are tourist centers of the state.

Of course, tourists who decide to go to this “citadel of American history” first of all fly to Richmond. For those flying from Moscow, a flight with two transfers in cities in Europe and America will take 20 hours. However, don’t let that scare you. Be sure: your vacation will start right on board the aircraft, the air carriers have already taken care of this, ready to provide you with the most comfortable conditions and the care of the cutest flight attendants.

In Richmond, travelers who want to be more independent in their movements and are not afraid of mountain roads usually rent a car. It usually costs from 20-30 USD per day, but it gives you the opportunity to enjoy the views and landscapes, stopping for halts wherever your heart desires. However, you can also use local buses. • Rodney Alexander Robinson was born September 9, 1978 in Richmond, Virginia. [1] [2] He was inspired to become a teacher by his mother, Sylvia, who wanted to be a teacher but didn’t have the opportunity in isolated Virginia. [2] [3] Instead, she ran a daycare at home and worked to get her GED. Robinson recalls “(w)her job was to get her GED hard to get her GED when I was in high school [while she was working full time and raising a family]—it was a lasting memory.” [2] His father pushed Robinson into college by having him work as a farmhand in the eighth grade; Robinson lasted only a couple of hours at work. [4]

Robinson received a bachelor’s degree in history from Virginia State University and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University. [5] Robinson was referred to Virginia by his high school’s deputy principal, who met Robinson after he flipped his desk in response to a teacher’s derogatory statement. [4]

Robinson is married. His wife Summer Robinson is also a teacher in Richmond. [1] [2]

    Career

Robinson, known to some of his students as “Big Rob”, began teaching in 2000. He taught for 11 years at Armstrong High School in Richmond, as well as Lucille M. Brown High School and George White High School. [2] In 2015, he was hired as a social studies and history teacher for grades 6-12 at the Virginia Binford Education Center, located on the property of the Richmond Juvenile Detention Center in Richmond, Virginia. [2]

Every child is different and everyone should be treated as if they were different. This goes back to the equality versus equality argument – giving each student what they need is not necessarily what is fair.

    –Rodney Robinson [2]

Robinson was inspired to work with imprisoned youth because of his desire to teach the children who needed it most. [2] [6] Entering his detention center classroom, he decorated the empty walls with banners from Ivy League colleges, Virginia, traditionally black colleges and universities, and inspirational quotes from famous African Americans. [2] Robinson’s students at Virgie Binford are usually only in his class for short periods of time, during which he tries to get many of the underachievers back on track so they can graduate. [2] He describes his philosophy as one that focuses on the child as a whole: “You encourage social, emotional growth before moving on to academic growth. Showing a child that you care about him, you care about his well-being and want him to be the best person, when they see this, they tend to agree to any strategy or teaching methods that you attract them with.” [3] The rules of the detention center restrict the kind of teaching he wants to do, making it difficult, for example, to project-based learning. [3] He tries to help his students reintegrate into society, including ensuring they register to vote if they are eligible. [6] If they are ineligible because of a criminal conviction, he teaches them how to regain their rights. [6]

Because of the close relationship he has with his students, Robinson was forced to seek therapy to help deal with the trauma they endured, including numerous students who were shot to death. [4]

    Other activities

Robinson is a volunteer coach and leader of Little League play in the East End community of Richmond. [1] He also serves as an announcer at sports events at Armstrong High School. [4]

He is involved in the city’s historic preservation efforts, including participating in projects to clean up cemeteries and conducting historical tours for educational groups visiting the city. [1]

    Membership and affiliation

Robinson is a member of the Education Compact Team, a group of educators, business and community leaders, and policymakers formed by the mayor of Richmond. Levar Stoney. Robinson also liaises with municipal leaders and community colleges “to recruit under-represented male teachers into education.” Robinson has contributed to the Yale Teachers Institute in developing curricula focusing on “race, class, and punishment”. [5]

    Awards and distinctions

Robinson received R. E.B. Excellence in Teaching Award 2012. [7] In 2018, he was named Virginia Teacher of the Year. [8] and in 2019 was recognized as the National Teacher of the Year. [6] He described his reaction to receiving the national award as humiliating and noted: “As a black male teacher, we are put in this box where we are only told to train, only deal with difficult children, only discipline, and we fighting to try to break out of this box, and now I’ve been chosen to represent all the teachers and students in America. It was confirmation.” [3]

There was some controversy over whether Robinson would choose to visit the White House to be honored, but in the end he decided to leave. He met with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office after Trump broke with tradition by failing to personally present the award to Robinson. [9] Robinson planned to use his platform as National Teacher of the Year to advocate for more equal school funding between rich and poor and to increase the number of minority men becoming teachers.
