AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Naamans Road KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community.  Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with
the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give
children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language to develop
vocabulary and conversation skills. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers,
colors, animals, family, body parts, and pets, as well as how to engage conversationally
during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • Eight years ago I enrolled my five-month-old twins at Naamans Road KinderCare. My relationship continued through all of the Toddler years and my children continue to use the before and after school care along with summer camp. The consistency, care and flexibility and level of professionalism of the director and staff is amazing. They care about my children and about me. After eight years of having my children enrolled at a Naamans Road KinderCare I would not change a thing!

    Lisa K.

    – KinderCare Parent

  • We originally selected KinderCare over two years ago for the company’s reputation and location of the center. We have stayed with the Wilmington KinderCare because of the quality of the people who work there. Every day when I pick my child up someone is available to talk to me about her day, listen to my concerns and I genuinely feel like she is “the favorite kid” in every class she has been a part of.

Biography

Origin

Parents of K. Karins, while still children, in 1944, together with their families, left Latvia for Sweden. Maternal grandfather of Krisjanis, Vilhelms Karins, was a wealthy man in pre-war Latvia: since 1870 his family business has been engaged in fish trading at the Riga Central Market, and 28-year-old Vilhelms himself at 19In 1935, he bought a stake in the Atrium film distribution company, which owned the large Forum cinema in Riga [1].

Karins’ parents grew up, met and got married in Sweden, and in the 1950s they moved to the USA, where their three children were born[2].

Education and research

Artur-Krishjanis, his older sister Anna and younger Ingrida studied at the same time at the American School and the Latvian Sunday School in Wilmington. 300-500 Latvians lived in the district, who met once a month at services in the Lutheran church, which was rented for this from American co-religionists [3]. Summer holidays were spent in the Latvian camp in Katskilsk[2]. nine0005

After that, Krisjanis studied at the Beverins Latvian Summer School (now defunct). After that, he worked for several years at the Garezers summer school, worked as an educator and teacher in Beverin. His family, relatives and friends gave him a Latvian upbringing: Americans came and went, but Latvian friends remained, Karins himself noted. Subsequently, he played music with friends of adolescence and youth already in Riga, after 20-25 years.[3]

In 1983, after graduating from high school, he studied for a year at the Münster Latvian Gymnasium. nine0005

I visited Latvia for the first time in 1984, when independence seemed completely impossible. However, since 1988 the situation has changed, and Artur-Krishjanis began to visit Latvia every summer, participated in popular demonstrations.

In the early years of the bachelor’s program (1984-1986) majored in mathematics, philosophy and literature at St. John’s College, Annapolis.

Studied linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania from 1987-1988, earning a bachelor’s degree in linguistics. Studied the abstract structure of language. Received an honorary diploma Summa Cum Laude , accepted into association Phi Beta Kappa .

In 1990-1996, Karins continued to study at the University of Pennsylvania, studying the phonetics of the Latvian language, phonology, and wrote a dissertation on the intonation of Latvian syllables.

In 1990, he received a large grant from the US government (Fulbright Scholarship) to study Russian at Leningrad University in addition to the knowledge he had already received at Pennsylvania.[3]

nine0002 Wrote his dissertation in 1994/95, having received a scholarship. Collected materials in Riga, rural areas of Latvia, interviewed people and made sound recordings.

At the same time, he worked as an assistant in one of the sound laboratories, teaching various language courses.

Received the degree of Doctor of Philology ( Ph.D. ).

Karins met his future wife Anda in Latvia, in 1996 they got married and decided to live permanently in Latvia.

nine0002 In 1996-1997, as Senior Research Coordinator of the Linguistic Data Consortium (Philadelphia, USA), Karins led a team that developed electronic phrasebooks and language databases for German, English, Arabic and Chinese.

In 1995 and 1998 Karins worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of Latvia, teaching a course in sociolinguistics in the bachelor’s and master’s programs.

Entrepreneurial activity

Having not yet moved to Latvia for permanent residence, on October 19, 1994 Kariņš founded the company PK (trademark Lāču ledus) [4], a manufacturer and distributor of ice and frozen products, and was its president before being elected to the Saeima. On February 4, 1998, he increased his share in the company to 95% (LVL 5,890), and on January 19, 2001, he increased the authorized capital, leaving his share unchanged, already in the amount of LVL 52,440.

Father K.Kariņš Uldis was one of the first emigrants who took advantage of the benefits of the 1991 by the Supreme Council of the Republic of Latvia of the law “On Foreign Investments in the Republic of Latvia”. It provided that enterprises with foreign capital for the first three years from the moment they made a profit were exempted from tax on it completely, and for the next two years – by 50% [5]. In September 1992, Uldis Karins founded the car paint trading company “Formula”[6] with an authorized capital of 10 thousand lats (about 14 thousand dollars) and was the chairman of its board until July 20, 2000. From January 12, 2000, Krisjanis Karins worked as his deputy in this company. The largest shareholder of this company was and remains the Canadian Riga Overseas Investments Inc. , which allowed the company to use the benefits provided to foreign investors.

K.Kariņš’s biggest income came from mediation in real estate transactions and from renting or managing own or leased real estate. This business was carried out by the Kariņš Consulting Company (Kariņa konsultācijas, later Linaka[7]). From January 13, 1999 to October 8, 2007, he was its only member, after which he presented the shares to his wife Anda. nine0005

On September 9, 2013, Karins also presented his wife with a property in Riga, Skolas Street 2, received from his grandfather Vilhelms Narins and Rasma’s mother Rasma Narini-Karini (land and the building of the former cinema “Pionieris” with auxiliary buildings, which Narins received as a result of denationalization)[ five]. According to the Register of Enterprises, on July 7, 2014, Anda Kariņa founded the company SIA S2 Rīga, , investing this property in its authorized capital with an estimate of 2.152 million euros, and on October 10, 2014, she sold it to SIA P.J. Assets 1 .

Concerning this transaction, the deputy of the Saeima from KPV LV Aldis Gobzems submitted a request to the prosecutor’s office, which did not see signs of corpus delicti in the actions of wife Karins.[8]

Political activities

Karins was one of the founders of the New Time party in 2002 and was elected to the Seimas in October of the same year. Karins was the chairman of the parliamentary faction “New Time” from 2002 to 2004 and the Minister of Economy in the government of Aigars Kalvitis from December 2004 to April 2006. As Minister of Economics, he initiated the so-called “Grinberg case” against Ventspils Mayor Aivar Lemberg, in which the state lost on all counts[9].

In March 2007 he became one of the two co-leaders of the “New Time” (together with Einars Repshe).

In 2009, the only one from the New Time list was elected to the European Parliament. He received the support of voters in the 2014 elections already as a representative of the successor party of New Time – Unity.

Unity party candidate for prime minister in 2018 elections. On January 7, 2019, the President of Latvia instructed him to form the next government[10][11]. nine0005

On January 23, 2019, Krisjanis Karins was approved by the Saeima as the Prime Minister of Latvia[12].

Karins about Russian inhabitants of Latvia[3]

Karins admits that he does not know Russian as well as French and German, although he understands and is even able to perceive humor at theatrical performances. As an entrepreneur, he always had enough knowledge of the Russian language to negotiate, this was never an obstacle.

He believes that there are much fewer ethnic problems at the everyday level between Latvians and Russians than between whites and blacks in the USA. Both communities talk more about problems, but they live in parallel worlds and have little contact, realizing that no one will benefit from the aggravation. nine0005

He considers the existence of so-called Russian schools to be the reason for the disunity of society: learning in Latvian is not the same as studying with Latvians in the same school. For example, if you entrust the development of the Russian language to his sons only at school, they will not know it, without a language environment. “The younger generation speaks Latvian to a greater extent, as Russian children know Latvian, while Latvian children do not know Russian. At the same time, there are Russian children in Latvian schools who have fully integrated, and in fact assimilated, just like we did when we grew up in America among Americans,” admits Karins. – In Latvia, Russian-speaking parents are increasingly sending their children to Latvian kindergartens and schools, as they understand that this is necessary for the unborn child. We need time to translate the school system into a unified one.” nine0005

Kariņš believes that in cities where, due to poverty, local governments could not support dual-stream education, there is no problem with Russian children (Cēsis, Valmiera, Kuldiga, partially Liepaja and Jelgava).

“In the future, it is necessary to ensure that young people identify themselves as Latvians… Having assimilated the Russians, we ourselves will change, but this will take a whole century. After all, if we go back to the distant past, I can say that the Latvian language is Lithuanian with a large Liv accent. Having assimilated the Livs who lived on the seashore and along the Daugava, we also changed our language and created what is called Latvian. In a hundred years, something will change again, but I would prefer my children to speak at least some Latvian than another language.” nine0005

Family

Krisjanis Karins is married and has four children. His wife, Anda Kariņa, is a family doctor who also deals with property leasing. In 2008, a member of the Saeima exercised his legal right to go on parental leave instead of his wife, receiving a total allowance of more than 13,000 lats from the State Social Insurance Agency in 2008 and 2009[5].

Father of Krišjānis Karins Uldis is a construction engineer, he was engaged in business in the USA.[3] nine0005

Younger sister Ingrida Kariņa-Berziņa has been a member of the board of the “American Chamber of Commerce and Industry” established on April 6, 1993 in Latvia and has been engaged in consulting activities[5].
