Donetsk residents have not been surprised at the marriages of foreign journalists and Donetsk women for a long time. But it turned out that foreign journalists support Donbass not only on the information front. Recently, American journalist Patrick Lancaster helped restore a kindergarten destroyed by Ukrainian shells.
Thumbelina Garden is located in Mineralnoye village. To the north-west of the settlement is the line of demarcation of forces. Shells of the Ukrainian army have come here more than once, as usual, they hit schools, gardens and hospitals. But the time has come to return to people at least a piece of peaceful life.
– Today we are opening a kindergarten. I would like to thank the people who helped restore the roof, walls, windows and other structures damaged by shelling. Thanks to you, the opening of this kindergarten became possible. Separately, I want to thank military officer Patrick Lancaster, he provided significant assistance in restoring the kindergarten, – he opened the events. Oleg Morgun, head of the administration of the city of Yasinovataya and the Yasinovatsky district.
The journalist did not come to the event empty-handed, he gave toys to all the children. Photo: News-Front
Patrick was given the floor, and the journalist remembered the difficult times of 2014, when he had just arrived here with his friend Graham Phillips. Then he did not speak Russian at all, but during this time he mastered it quite well.
– In 2014, shells fell on the street, right behind the garden, and fragments cut through the roof, windows and the entire building of the kindergarten, the journalist said. – He became unsuitable for children. He did not work for more than three years, and today for the first time the children of the Mineralnoye village were able to go to this kindergarten. The Spendenaktion fur Novorossia group helped a lot, without them nothing would have happened. They provided great assistance for the children of the Mineralnoye village. All this was done jointly with the leadership of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Yasinovataya administration. This is great team work. Winter is coming and people here really need help. We will continue to help Donbass!
There are still few children in Mineralny, but there is hope that people will return if they are given conditions for this, and most importantly, if the long-awaited peace comes.
