Classrooms — EVERGREEN

Squirrels

Ages 6 weeks to 12 months

Welcome to the world, Little One! Our infant classroom is a warm, welcoming environment with specially trained staff to care for our precious babies. We recognize that each child we care for has their unique internal schedule for eating and sleeping. Our class can comfortably follow the natural rhythm of each child in our care. Babies brains are developing rapidly at this stage, and we balance just enough stimuli to interest the baby in their environment, along with the freedom to move and explore.

Owls

12 months to 24 months

As babies transitions from the infant stage of development toward the toddler stage, we provide a unique environment for their new and expanding interests and needs. At this stage, they are continuing the development of their fine motor skills, gross motor development and their awareness of the world around them. We provide specially designed materials to support this development. They graduate to a playground with small climbing structures to further their gross motor explorations. They begin to grasp the meaning of community and empathy with the support and encouragement of our teaching staff. We make careful observations of children and communicate essential milestones.

Raccoons

24 months to 36 months

As the child shows increasing development in the area of independence, they will be encouraged to do as many things as possible for themselves, like putting on their shoes, gathering supplies for nap time, and cleaning up their toys. We observe for signs they are ready for potty training and work with our parents to develop individual strategies to facilitate the transition from diapers to cloth underwear.

Foxes

Ages 3 to 4 years

Our preschool program has focused goals in the areas of cognitive, social, physical and language and literacy growth. Our classroom aims to help children develop relationships and foster peer interactions as they transition from independent play to cooperative play. We have a balance of structured and unstructured play times both inside the classroom, outside on the playground and in our gymnasium. We support the child in their quest for knowledge by listening to the child as they express what their interests are. Their learning is reflected to both the parent and the child though documentation of their increasing knowledge as it relates to our core focused goals.

Deer

Ages 4 to 5 years

Our pre-kindergarten program continues to focus on the cognitive development of a child as well as social interactions, gross motor development, and language and literacy growth. It is an important transition year that prepares them for their primary school education. We focus on projects that deepen their understanding of math, science, pre-reading/writing, and their environment. We have a balance of teacher-initiated experiences and child-directed experiences, paying particular attention to the child’s progress throughout the year.

Bears

Ages 4 to 12 years

Our school-age program recognizes that the child has spent an entire day focusing on their education. We offer refuge from the demands of school and focus on relaxing, fun activities that encourage social interaction and group cooperation. We offer an afterschool snack, as well as a quiet space for 20 to 30 minutes to do the necessary homework (if the parent would like), freeing up your evening to enjoy your family time at home. We provide transportation to and from 3 elementary schools in Wilsonville in our safety certified 14 passenger school buses. We are open and available for care during in-service days, some holidays, and weather-related school closures (as long as it is safe for our school to be open).  During spring and winter breaks, we offer structured activities as well as special field trips away from the school.

Bears Summer Program

We believe summer should be fun, and we have created a program that will be a joy for children to attend. During our SUMMER CAMP experience, we embark on exciting adventures each week that focuses on a weekly theme. Our summer camp coordinator works hard to find the most engaging field trips and guest presenters to enhance the child’s experience making it a summer they will never forget. Every day we venture out of the school and into a park for a picnic and fun activities. Our weekly exciting field trips are designed to bring enjoyment to all the children, and we even sneak in a little learning along the way!  We get out of the school — and into the world to make sure every child never feels like they are missing out on classic summer experiences.

The Best Child Care

Early Years provides a stimulating and safe environment for children ages 5 months to 5 years.  We focus on the develop of children’s problem-solving and reactive thinking skills through staff and child directed activities in our daily agenda.  Our Preschool and PreK programs are designed to encourage learning through play and kindergarten readiness.   Infants and toddlers are cared for in a cozy, safe, age appropriate environment.

Since 2001 we have provided top-notch child care and preschool programs to our families.  We have an excellent licensing track record and are committed to the safety, health and happiness of every child in our care.  Our teachers are trained, experienced and, most importantly, they love and feel honored to care for children.

INFANTS

6 Weeks – 12 Months

Our Infants classroom is a child-led, soothing environment. We feed, change and cuddle them to sleep based on their needs. In addition to these essentials we sing songs, listen to soft music, read stories and even go outside occasionally. Daily communication is provided parents about their child’s day.

PRESCHOOL

3 – 4 Years

For the Preschoolers, our goal is to guide and facilitate the learning process by presenting developmentally appropriate materials and activities. Our teachers care about the progress of each child in each area of growth so that individual differences in ability and interest are personally respected. Enhancement of the child’s self-esteem and positive feelings toward learning are of paramount importance.

TODDLERS

1 – 2 Years

Our Toddlers classroom is a happy, nurturing environment where each child is encouraged to explore and develop new skills at their own pace. Equipment and toys are safe and age appropriate for these early walkers. The room arrangement satisfies individual needs by allowing space for eating, sleeping, playing and socializing.

PRE – K

4 – 5 Years

Our Pre-K program pairs your child’s natural talents and curiosity with skilled teachers who will help them to be all they can be.  There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing a child’s face light up when they learn something new and exciting. The look in their eyes, the smile on their face, this is why our Pre-K program exists.  Early reading and math skills, science and nature concepts, artistic and creative expression are just a few of the things we love to teach.

EARLY PRESCHOOL

2 – 3 Years

In our Early Preschool classroom children combine learning with play. Curriculum concepts are taught at an introductory level with plenty of flexibility for shorter attention spans. Projects are fun and messy, yet still meaningful. Children are encouraged to explore their environment freely and discover the joy of learning.

School Age

K – 6th

Our school age program offers structured classroom environments for children K-6 to participate in the online learning program provided by their respective school district. Our Program Director, Jenna, is a licensed, experienced elementary teacher. Jenna and our staff will provide the assistance and support your child needs to achieve the maximum benefit from their online learning. Several options are available including part-time, full-time and drop in. Please contact us for more information!

about us

Our Philosophy

Early Years is a child care center licensed by the State of Oregon Early Learning Division Office of Child Care (OCC). Compliance with all state laws and regulations is absolute priority so that your child is safe and cared for in the most ideal setting.

It is very important to us that your child be treated with the utmost respect and sensitivity to their individual needs. We will work closely with you to see that your child’s care is tailored to their needs and your wishes.

We understand that children learn best by doing so we provide plenty of opportunity for them to use play to translate experience into understanding. What Parents Think

The teachers offer a nurturing environment and Nancy (owner) and her team run a tight ship.  My second son has speech challenges and the teachers worked with his speech therapist to provide some extra practice.   But honestly, it was the support and encouragement of the teachers that gave him the confidence to try to say specific sounds.  It brought tears to my eyes how much my little guy has grown!  My boys have enjoyed their time at Early Years and we have made some life long family friends between the teachers and school friends.

Samantha Frost

The Early Years team is like a second family.  My daughter truly loves her teachers and I feel that love radiating back from them.  They look after her and I trust them completely with her care. She is always in good spirits, and the physical and social ways she gets to grow and play each day gives me joy.  To me it’s the best mix of a small, in-home type of care mixed with the amenities and service of a larger center…a perfect blend.  I highly recommend Early Years for parents and children who want to focus on play, friendships, social skills and loving care.

Sarah

Early Years has been in our lives for 8 years now, with our son, attending from 12 mos until Kinder and our daughter there now finishing up her final year in the pre-K class.
Both of my children have thrived in this environment filled with creativity, stability and fun. They have made dear friendships and amazing memories, are treated with love and care all while being taught boundaries and respect for others. The fact that the staff has retained a few of their best employees for many years speaks volumes about how this center is run and really contributes to my comfort level in leaving my children with people who feel like family. The staff provides age appropriate activities and growth opportunities for every age group that the kids get genuinely excited about. Nancy and her team are flexible supportive care professionals and I would happily recommend Early Years to anyone looking for quality care for their children at all stages of early life. Shannon B.

We’ve been sending our son to Early Years since he was 3 months old (he’s almost 2 years old now), and we’ve been so happy with the care he has received. He loves the staff there and always comes home happy and tired which is the best compliment I could give them! The communication is great and they’ve done an awesome job creating a safe and stimulating environment for him and the other kids. We would highly recommend Early Years to anyone looking for quality child care they can trust.

This is our first experience with daycare. And we found that the Early Years Child Center is the perfect place for us. I have never regretted that we went to this daycare. Great location, cozy, warm, and clean. A lot of exciting toys and an awesome playground.  Our girl loves to go there; she is 2,5 years old. Flexible and understandable management; It is felt that a very friendly and harmonious team and experienced specialists work in the Early Years. This is also very important. Many thanks to the whole team!

We have been at Early Years for 8 years (with 2 different children) and have been in every class.  We love the staff! It really feels like a little family.  Our kids have been so happy here.  The location is great, and one of my favorite parts is the huge outdoor space (part of which is covered and can be used year-round).  Plenty of fresh air and exercise for our kiddos!  😊

Chris & Amanda

We have been clients since 2012 and have always been very happy with the staff and the care our children have received over the years.  The teachers are kind, caring and spend time getting to know all the children.   More often than not the kids are having so much fun that they don’t want to leave at pick up. Owner Nancy has always been incredible easy to work with and flexible as our needs have changed throughout the years.  We trust her judgement and are confident our kids are being well taken care of.

Katie & Graham

Our family has been at Early Years for over four years and it has been great to watch our son experience each life stage and classroom, from infant to pre-k, and what it has to offer … what he has learned socially and emotionally, we could not be more grateful for! Our baby girl is now at Early Years and it’s been really great to have a sense of comfort when we drop her and her big brother off, knowing they each are being cared for in a safe and fun environment. We also appreciate always being able to talk to Nancy or the staff should we have any questions or need anything – open communication is so important when it comes to child care and Early Years has it!

Julia & Ryan O.

Both my children have been at Early Years since its inception. My oldest since he was about 1 ½ and my youngest since she was 4 months old. It is extremely hard to find a daycare/school that you can trust. At Early Years, you can. The teachers are amazing. So creative and full of life and energy. They are always teaching and having fun while doing it. They provide healthy meals. A safe setting for kids of all ages. A diverse way of learning. Outside play. A caring, stimulating clean environment with happy kids. You’ll feel it right when you walk in the door. As we transition our oldest to Kindergarten this Fall, I am confident that he will be prepared for future success, both in and outside the classroom, thanks to Early Years!

Qualified Staff Members

We pride ourselves in low staff turnover.  Each team member meets or exceeds the training requirements set forth by the Oregon Department of Education Early Learning Division Office of Child Care (OCC).  These include enrollment in the OCC Central Background Registry, a current Pediatric CPR certificate and 15 hours of continuing education credits annually. Several team members have completed coursework in Early Childhood Education.  Some are moms, which is always a plus in our Infants Classroom.

From Our Owner, Nancy

In 2001, with 2 little boys at home, I walked away from my career in Microbiology.  I became a licensed child care provider and found my true calling.  I’m proud to say that I have helped raise about 1000 children.  What I didn’t expect when I started this venture was how much I would learn from them along the way.  They are the best teachers of all.  Each and every one of them is an individual with their own view of the world.  It’s our role as providers, teachers and parents to guide and encourage them so that they develop the self-confidence and self-reliance that will carry them through life.   Childhood is precious and should be filled with joy, laughter, creative expression and positive social interactions.  At Early Years our goal is to provide the best possible environment for children to learn, play, grow and enjoy this wonderful time of their lives.
