Each staff member receives ongoing training in both child care and child development while on-site and works under the guidance of our Child Development Center Director, Diane York.

The center may only be accessed with a coded security pass, and all traffic is monitored through our manned central lobby.

Policies and procedures are in place covering everything from drop-off/pick-up to food safety to sanitation. In addition, all staff members are First Aid/CPR certified and both staff and volunteers have fingerprint and background clearances.

Expansive windows provide ample natural light while also providing views onto the desert, Alice’s Wonderland playground and the shared Intergenerational Garden.

Good, healthful meals are the fuel on which young minds and bodies run, so Wirtzie’s has a registered dietitian on staff who works in conjunction with our professional chef to ensure your child is served hot, nutritious meals and snacks daily while in a Wirtzie’s child care or preschool program. Every trip of a child to the theater is a surprise. Perhaps that is why the founder of the Moscow Children’s Puppet Theater Andrey Sokol decided to call it that – “Surprise”.

The stage directors have developed their own original approach both to the young audience and to works that turn into performances. The authors try to make each production special, to see the little things and details in the usual scenario that will turn the action on stage into an exciting adventure for kids.

This theater is a fairy-tale world with its kind atmosphere, where the characters, both the actors themselves and the puppets, appear as magicians who work wonders. Most theater productions are interactive, where children themselves become participants in what is happening on stage. They enter the game, solve riddles, help fairy-tale characters, in a word, they are transported for a few moments into a fairy tale.

The theater’s repertoire includes famous folk and author’s tales, performances based on famous cartoons, as well as original scripts that you will not see anywhere else.

Surprise Theater organizes children’s parties with the participation of professional actors, in addition, puppet shows can take place right at your home, at your home party. The theater also has a tradition of performing charity performances, such as in hospitals or orphanages.

Hot potato (5 to 11 years old)

Children sit on the floor in a circle, but as far apart as possible. Turn on the music and as it plays, the children should pass each other a small rubber ball in a clockwise direction, getting rid of it as quickly as possible. The ball must be visited by each player in turn. The player who has the ball in his hands at the moment the music stops is out. The circle is reduced, the game continues until one player remains.

What is missing?

This is a game of observation. You can offer to play it when the children come to the table. Ask everyone to look carefully at the table and remember what is on it: what sweets, what pies, what sandwiches. Now let one of the guests leave the room, and after consulting with the children, remove some plate or vase with treats and call the one who is waiting in the corridor, he should answer what is missing.
