History
Pioneers began to cultivate the territory around Dir-Crees. [6] The settlement moved about a mile west to what is now downtown Crowley when the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railroad built pens and laid paths. The first station depot was built in 1885. The community was named after S. H. Crowley, who was a transport master on the railroad. [7]
The election that approved Crowley’s registration was held on February 3, 1951. The City Council voted to change Crawley’s name from town to town on September 3, 1972.
Geography
Crowley is located in southern Tarrant County, with a 5.
8 acre (2 ha) tract extending south into Johnson County. [8] According to the US Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.3 square miles (18.8 km2). 2 ), of which 0.01 square miles (0.03 km 2 ), or 0.18%, is water. [5]
The city is bordered to the north and east by Fort Worth and to the south by Burleson. Downtown Fort Worth is 13 miles (21 km) north of downtown Crowley. Interstate 35 W runs 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Crawley city limits, exiting from Exit 39, Rendon Crawley Road. The center of Crawley is at the junction of The Farm and Market Road. 1187 and 731.

Education
The Independent School District in Fort 2 includes public schools in Fort 2 Most of the district’s schools are located within the city limits of Fort Worth, including North Crawley High School and Campus 9th grade, Crowley High School and 12 elementary schools. Crowley High School, 9th grade day campus G. F. Stevens and three elementary schools are within the town of Crawley.

History
Kaufman was founded as the “Fort of the Kings”, named after Dr.
William P. King, who founded the fort in 1840 after purchasing 2.5 square miles (6.5 km 2 ) land on which the city is now located. The community was renamed “Kingsborough” after five years of growth. In 1852, Kingsborough was renamed “Kaufman” after the newly formed Kaufman County, which in turn was named after David S. Kaufman. [8] [9]
Kaufman was the first person who Bonnie Parker, of Bonnie and Clyde fame, was jailed.
The nearby Kaufman camp was used as a German POW camp during World War II. [10]
Geography
Kaufman is located in central Kaufman County at 32°35′7″N. 96°18′28″W / 32.58528°N 96.30778°W / 32.58528; -96.30778 (32.585395, -96.307673). [11] US Route 175, a four-lane, limited-access highway, passes through the southwestern part of the city and leads northwest 33 miles (53 km) to Dallas and southeast 39miles (63 km) to Athens. Texas State Highway 34 passes through the south and east of the city, leading north 12 miles (19 km) to Terrell and southwest 26 miles (42 km) to Ennis.
State Highway 243 leads east from Kaufman 27 miles (43 km) to Canton.
According to the US Census Bureau, Kaufman has a total area of 8.5 square miles (22.1 km 2 ), of which 8.3 square miles (21.6 km 2 ) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km 2 ), or 2.08%, is water. [6]

Trinity Valley Community College operates a health science center in Kaufman. (The college offers other non-medical general education courses at other TVCC campuses.)
Climate
The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen climate classification system, Kaufmann has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated as Cfa on climate maps. [16]

Overview and History
The district was established as an independent Koppell School District by a vote of local residents in 1959. In 1927, Dallas County Schools purchased 6 acres (24,000 m²). 2 ) $900 land on which to build Pinkerton Elementary, the only campus that will serve Coppell’s children attending kindergarten through eighth grade. At that time, the total number of students in grades K-8 was about 175.
Until the first high school was built, on the site of what is now Koppell High School West, Koppell students wishing to complete their education in grades 9-12 high school, did it in Grapevine.
An additional four classes were introduced in stages, starting with 91st grade, which was added in 1961, followed by 10th grade in 1962, 11th grade in 1963, and 12th grade was added in 1964. For many years Coppell remained one high school community, Coppell High School’s mascot was “The Lions”. After a newly formed professional football team took up residence nearby, the mascot was changed to Coppell’s “Cowboys” and remains so to this day.
From the mid-eighties to the late nineties, student growth in the district averaged over 16%. Today, as Coppell’s largest employer with over 1,200 employees, Coppell ISD has fifteen campuses serving approximately 10,000 students in grades K-12, including ten elementary grades, three middle schools, two high schools, and an alternate campus. CISD opened a new tech oriented high school called New Tech High @ Coppell in the fall of 2008.
Koppell ranks twelfth among the “Best Places to Live in Dallas” with SAT averages, ranking them third out of 62 suburbs (Journal D 7/06).
Coppell ISD is ranked #1 in school districts in Texas with over 10,000 Gold Grade Achievement (GPA) students in 2006. Eighty-two High Achievement Awards were given across the TEA District. For the fourth year in a row, the CISD has received a Top Achievement rating based on “yes” answers to each of the 21 indicators included in the Texas Financial Excellence Rating System (FIRST) program.
