Hero Camp is a small in house summer camp that is designed to maintain smart and active minds and bodies for each individual child on a daily basis. The camp’s teacher to childratio is 2:4 for optimal safety and individual attention. We can not watch children younger than 3 years of age for safety purposes.
The top three goals of camp are:
1. Review math, science, and language arts skills learned over the previous school year.
2. Prepare children for the upcoming school year by introducing new concepts in math, science, and language arts.
3. Make sure each child is having a lot of active outdoor and indoor fun!
The Learning
– Each child will receive a personalized summer activity book at the beginning of the summer.
– The activity books will be chosen based upon grade and desired academic progress throughout the summer as specified by parents. Some parents may wish for their children to simply review previous material while some may wish to give their children a head start on next year’s material.

My children have been at Mt. E since the first day the doors opened. I am so happy and proud to see how well they have done. Having had both great and bad daycare experiences previously, I was concerned about finding the right school when we moved to Kennesaw. I visited several daycare centers in the area and was not impressed. Then I came across Mt. Elizabeth’s website. They were still under construction but Rob and Ann met with me and my husband and took us on a tour and we knew it was the right place for our babies. The facility is clean and the teachers are AMAZING! Ms Corinne, Ms Shequila, Ms Terre, everyone is fabulous. I feel like my kids are not only being taught well, but they are actually loved. Every school has growing pains and staffing issues from time to time. But, the thing I love about Mt. E is that I can talk to Ann or Rob and my concerns are always addressed immediately and we work together to do what is best for the children. My children and I highly recommend Mt. Elizabeth! I’ve had the pleasure of working at Mt. Elizabeth Academy for six months now. For the first time in ten years, I can honestly say that I look forward to coming to work everyday. Ann and Rob are two of the most genuine, caring, and respectful people for whom I have worked. Their extended background in education and love of children shines throughout the school. Many a time I’ve seen Ann in the classroom, on the floor, with children piled in her lap, while she reads to them and plays with them. They truly care about each and every child and their staff. They go above and beyond to make certain that every classroom is equipped with all the things a child and teacher could possibly need to foster fun learning and ensure safety. When I chose Mt. Elizabeth as my home away from home, I was not only choosing for myself, but for my son as well. His health and well-being comes first and I couldn’t imagine him being happier anywhere else. We started our 8 week old baby at Mt. E and loved every second of her there. The Brightwheel app they use keeps you updated with pictures, diaper changes, and everything your child does throughout the day to keep your mind at ease. They taught our 1 year old sign language and provide Spanish classes to keep our daughter learning. The entire Mt. E staff takes care of our children as their own. Mt. Elizabeth Academy is a GREAT school, and like any other facility it has it’s pros & cons. However, from a personal experience there are more pros which contributes to the progression of the school. I worked as the private pre-k teacher (over a year ago), and was one of the 1st hires.
Unfortunately, personal issues took place in my life that affected my passion in teaching, along with the high potential the directors saw in me when I was first hired. One thing I could never do is speak badly about Ann & Rob because they were always concerned, encouraging, and doing their best to maintain a school of excellence. I thank them for their honesty, and for doing what they felt was best to do for the success of the class, although I felt it was personal and unfair at the time.
Mt. E was indeed my stepping stone for growth and opportunity, and if it had not been for the honest wake-up call the Godley’s gave me, I wouldn’t be where I am now, back in the classroom, teaching passionately with much more to offer my elementary students.

Both of my children attended Mt. Elizabeth- my son from 18mo – 3.5 years and my daughter from 12 weeks – 18 months. The day we had to leave was the saddest – we moved out of state and I wish we could have moved everyone at Mt. Elizabeth with us!! My kids both thrived from the intimate class sizes and age appropriate curriculum. Every staff member knew and loved both of my kids. E since the first day the doors opened. I am so happy and proud to see how well they have done. Having had both great and bad daycare experiences previously, I was concerned about finding the right school when we moved to Kennesaw. I visited several daycare centers in the area and was not impressed. Then I came across Mt. Elizabeth’s website. They were still under construction but Rob and Ann met with me and my husband and took us on a tour and we knew it was the right place for our babies. The facility is clean and the teachers are AMAZING! Ms Corinne, Ms Shequila, Ms Terre, everyone is fabulous. I feel like my kids are not only being taught well, but they are actually loved. Every school has growing pains and staffing issues from time to time. But, the thing I love about Mt. E is that I can talk to Ann or Rob and my concerns are always addressed immediately and we work together to do what is best for the children. My children and I highly recommend Mt. Elizabeth! 
Elizabeth Academy for six months now. For the first time in ten years, I can honestly say that I look forward to coming to work everyday. Ann and Rob are two of the most genuine, caring, and respectful people for whom I have worked. Their extended background in education and love of children shines throughout the school. Many a time I’ve seen Ann in the classroom, on the floor, with children piled in her lap, while she reads to them and plays with them. They truly care about each and every child and their staff. They go above and beyond to make certain that every classroom is equipped with all the things a child and teacher could possibly need to foster fun learning and ensure safety. When I chose Mt. Elizabeth as my home away from home, I was not only choosing for myself, but for my son as well. His health and well-being comes first and I couldn’t imagine him being happier anywhere else. 
Elizabeth enough! The teachers are fantastic. The staff goes above and beyond. This was our third daycare experience (due to moving.) Mt. Elizabeth far exceeded expectations! It is a family feel and I truly felt the teachers loved my son! 
My granddaughter takes voice lessons and my grandson takes guitar 🎸 lessons. Both of them love their lessons and can’t wait to return for their next class!!

The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain ( The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain ) took place on June 27, 1864 during the Battle of Atlanta during the American Civil War. General James McPherson led a diversionary attack at the northern tip of Mount Kennesaw, while General John Logan attacked Pigeon Hill to the southwest of the mountain.
Background In March 1864, Ulysses Grant was promoted to lieutenant general and appointed commander in chief of the federal army. He proposed a strategy of constant, numerous strikes against the Confederacy, which should prevent the enemy from transferring armies from direction to direction and strengthening one army at the expense of another. Both Grant and Sherman hoped to destroy the enemy armies in open battle, and the capture of cities was a secondary goal for them. This strategy was advocated by President Lincoln throughout the war, but Grant was the first to actively support the idea. However, as the campaign progressed, the political importance of Richmond and Atlanta grew and affected the strategy. By 1864, Atlanta had become fundamentally important. The city of 20,000 was at an important railroad crossing and was the industrial center and arsenal of the Confederacy. Atlanta was called the “Gate of the South”, its capture opened the way for the northerners to the deep rear of the enemy. The capture of Atlanta was to influence the course of the 1864 presidential campaign. The Battle of Resaca took place on May 14-15 but was unsuccessful and Sherman again outflanked Johnston, forcing him to retreat. A small skirmish took place off Adairsville on May 17, and a larger fight took place on May 18-19.May near Cassville. Johnston planned to break Sherman’s parts apart, but Hood showed unusual caution and did not attack according to the plan, fearing the environment. Johnston’s army took up defensive positions at Allatuna Pass south of Cartersville, but Sherman again outflanked it on the left, temporarily moving away from the railroad, which was his main supply line. Johnston was forced to leave his comfortable position and meet Sherman in the open. Fierce but inconclusive fighting occurred on May 25 at New Hope Church, on May 27 at Pickets Mill, and on May 28 at Dallas. On June 1, heavy rains spoiled the roads and Sherman was forced to return to the railroad line for ammunition. Johnston erected a new line of fortifications on June 4 north of Marietta, along Lost Mountain, Pine Mainten and Brush Mountain. On June 14, after 12 days of heavy rain, Sherman was able to move forward again. Finding the enemy on Pine Mountain, Sherman ordered an artillery bombardment to begin. As a result, General Leonidas Polk was killed (William Loring took over the corps), and Johnston withdrew his troops and dug in at positions near Mount Canneso and Little Canneso. Sherman found himself in a difficult situation. It was stationed 15 miles from Atlanta, but could not continue with the bypass strategy due to poor road conditions. The only possible supply line (the railroad) went to Atlanta past Mount Kennesaw, where Johnston’s army was stationed. Side Forces Sherman’s force, about 100,000 strong, was consolidated into three armies: General James McPherson’s Tennessee Army, George Thomas’s Cumberland Army (Howard’s IV Corps, Palmer’s XIV Corps, Hooker’s XX Corps, and Elliot’s Cavalry Corps) and a small army Ohio (consisting of the 23rd Corps) of General John Scofield. The main enemy was the Confederate Tennessee Army of Joseph Johnston, who replaced Braxton Bragg after the failure at Chattanooga in November 1863. The army, 50,000 strong, consisted of the infantry corps of General William Hardy, John Hood, Leonidas Polk, and the cavalry corps of Joseph Wheeler. BattleFederal trenches at the foot of Mount Kennesaw Sherman ordered Scofield to extend the front of the army to the right in order to force Johnston to also stretch the front and weaken his line of defense. At 08:00 on June 27, federal artillery began a heavy bombardment of enemy positions with 200 guns, and Confederate artillery returned fire. Joseph Lightburn’s brigade was advancing to the right of Smith. They had to advance through swampy terrain, and they stopped in front of the fortifications on the southern slope of Pigeon Hill. They failed to break through the line of defense. To the left of Smith, the brigades of Charles Walcutt and Gilles Smith passed over rough terrain and exchanged fire with the enemy, but also did not storm the fortifications. 2 miles south, General Thomas’s troops were somewhat behind schedule, but still began their main attack against Hardy’s corps around 0900. 2 divisions of the Cumberland Army, about 9,000 men, under the command of General John Newton and Jefferson Davis, advanced in marching columns on the positions of Benjamin Cheetham and Patrick Clayburn, who fortified what is now known as “Cheetham’s Hill”. But Scofield’s success, however, gave Sherman great advantages, and the Confederate commander was quickly able to exploit them.” The enemy spent 5 days in position, but on July 2, due to good weather, Sherman sent the Army of Tennessee and Stonemann’s cavalry around the federal left flank and Johnston was forced to retreat from Mount Kennesaw and prepare new positions on Smyrna. Today The site of the battle is now part of Kennesaw National Park, and the remains of the trenches of both armies can still be seen there, as well as individual rifle cells of the northerners. The division was ordered to approach unnoticed, break into the enemy positions and give a signal to the reserve divisions, which should move forward, seize the railway and cut the enemy army in two. Colonel McCook’s brigade went down to the river, crossed the field, and began to climb Cheatham’s Hill. They came within a few yards of the enemy’s trenches, and then stopped, lay down, and engaged in a firefight. But the return fire of the Confederates was too strong and McCook’s brigade lost two commanders (McCook himself and his second-in-command, Colonel Oscar Harmore), almost all the officers and a third of their entire personnel. McCook was killed when, with a drawn saber, he climbed onto the parapet of the enemy and shouted: “Surrender, traitors!” Colonel John Mitchell’s brigade advanced to the right of McCook and suffered the same losses. After a fierce hand-to-hand fight, the feds withdrew, dug in, and continued to exchange fire until 22:45. Both sides named this section of the battlefield “Deadly Corner”.
