Pavel Mikhalitsyn – The Wisdom of the Pentateuch of Moses » Page 20 » Online books of all genres to read for free
The great prophet, legislator and savior of the Jewish people was not destined to enter the Land of God’s Promise. This was done by his disciple and spiritual successor, Joshua. The reason for this was the disobedience of God’s command at the waters of Meribah, for which the Lord even punished his chosen one: this into the land that I give him “(Numbers 20, 12). Moses only from a distance, from the top of Mount Nebo, surveyed all of Palestine. According to ancient legend, God showed his prophet the entire future fate of this region until the last times of the world.
« And Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord; and was buried in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth Pegor, and no one knows the place of his burial even to this day ”(Deut. 34, 5-6). Thus ended the earthly path of the great prophet, without whom human history is unthinkable. His path was very difficult and thorny, sometimes impossible for an ordinary person, but God constantly strengthened Moses, giving him more and more strength to fulfill his great calling. The Bible also gives the most accurate assessment of the significance of the personality of the prophet Moses in the history of God’s chosen people: “ And there was no longer a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, according to all the signs and wonders that the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt over Pharaoh and over all his servants and over all his land, and according to a strong hand and according to the great miracles that Moses performed before the eyes of all Israel ”(Deut. 34, 10-12). It is hardly possible to add anything to this definition.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we would like to emphasize once again that the phenomenon of Holy Scripture – the Bible is so great and significant for the entire world culture and history that it is hardly amenable to any final explanation and interpretation. Probably, each new generation will find more and more facets in the Bible, supplementing and enriching its semantic content.
