It is such a friendly, down to earth atmosphere with the addition of knowledgable owners who really know how to maintain such a gorgeous farm in a safe environment. Riding Lessons

Apr. 2018 • Family fun

Our oldest daughter (age 8- no horse experience) started taking private lessons here. She loves it! Her instructor, Jon, is an outstanding teacher. She counts the days until her next lesson. With all the activities that Texas Rose Horse Park hosts, our daughter is exposed to multiple levels and styles of riding. So much to learn here! We would highly recommend Texas Rose Horse Park.

Best horse trials venue in Texas

March 2018 • Business

The horse park is always a good weekend for my horses, competitors and friends who spectate. Great to see a sporting venue that is well appointed and supports the grass roots of an Olympic US sport.
Friends with kids or without always are amazed to watch the horses jump the cross country fences into water and over the terrain of this beautiful venue when the horse trials are on.

The Absolute Standard

March 2018 • Traveling alone

Texas Rose Horse Park is the absolute standard for what an event center should aspire to be. With multiple areas for facilitating different events (at the same time, even), there is always something to see, do, and experience. As an equestrian, I place extreme value on facilities for showing and training my horses, and I consider Rose Park to the be the top choice. However, you do not have to be a horse person to enjoy Rose Park. They have a wide variety of functions and events with easy parking, access, and walk-ability. So if you’re in the area, stop by and see what’s going on. Or look on their website (they’ll tell you!). Rose Park will always be one of my favorite places, so make it yours as well!

Great potential for learning…..but disappointing!!

July 2022 • Family Fun

The Discovery Science Place is located in downtown Tyler Texas. The business in a nice, clean and secure building. It has numerous learning stations catering to the interests of children 1-9years old. Cost was $10 for adults, $8 for senior adults over 65, $8 for children, and children under 2 was free. You and your child are free to roam the learning stations at your own pace. Lots of interesting stations for children.

The issue we had was that many of the stations were either in disrepair or not functioning. Some of the stations had no or minimal instructions as to their use or their learning purpose. The DSP offers a great learning experience potential, but much of the equipment or learning tools were old, partially working, or non-functioning. Kids were eager to learn but disappointed that so many stations would no longer function. DSP has great potential, but they need major refurbishing and updating.

Old, dinghy, tired exhibits, waste of time & money. Tyler offers so much more.

March 2021 • Family vacation

Very disappointing. Took my 5 year old to the Tyler Discover Science. The exhibits are old, have missing pieces, no paper for coloring, trains did not work, only allowed an hour due to CoVid. Please tell me how this affects a child’s experience for the better. So sick of CoVid excuses. Science does not back this theory. Of course they did not discount the price for only 1 hour. They still ask you to wear a mask, even though Govenor Abbot states no more mandate. I did not, however.
This was a fun place to come 5 years ago. I don’t think they have updated anything nor acquired new exhibits here.
It could be so much more. Truly a sad, yet expensive place. Don’t waste your time or money here. There are so many other fun things to do for children in Tyler.

For slightly older students we suggest some great upcoming events/activities:
– the 8th annual Tyler Maker Faire is April 18th, 2020. This event is our largest community event and is great for ALL ages (even adults w/out kiddos). Find out more here: https://tyler.makerfaire.com/
-our summer 2020 exhibit “The Art and Science of Arachnids” will feature 100 specimens of live spiders and scorpions along with art and cultural information about them. This exhbit will also appeal to all ages.
-“STEM Like a Girl” is an annual event held every February for middle-school girls ONLY that provides the ma chance to meet and work with female STEM professionals in a day of hands-on fun. (Unfortunately this event just happened last week, but look for it again in 2021!)
All of our events and happenings can be found on our FB events page or on our homepage if you scroll towards the bottom. Thanks for visiting!

Fun for my 3 yo grandson

June 2019 • Family fun

Took my 3 yo grandson, he had a great time. From an adult perspective many of the items in the store, hospital, vet and restaurant were tired. The lab type coats were dirty, I wonder if they are ever washed and torn or patches coming off and strings. The store items were worn out, taped together, etc. Just seemed like they were getting by and not replacing or keeping things up. On a high note, employees are walking around, rearranging and putting things back in place once kids finish playing making it look orderly for next child. This was nice. My grandson had a great time, I would recommend and price was reasonable.

Thank you for your review and input. We do indeed wash, clean and sanitize on a very regular basis. Of course with 75,000 visitors annually there is a lot of wear and tear, but we try hard to replace items as needed within a reasonable amount of time (balanced within our nonprofit budget ability). If you ever feel like an item is unclean or unsafe please let us know immediately, and we will take care of it ASAP. We hope to have you and your grandson back again soon.
