Gingerbread House Daycare and Preschool
About Us
A Warm Welcome to the Gingerbread House
We believe that children are our greatest gifts and we take the privilege and responsibility of their care and development with the greatest attention. Please view the video below to learn more about us!
At the Gingerbread House, your children will be nurtured in fun, welcoming and enriching environment that is curriculum based, individually tailored for each child’s specific stages of development. We believe that each child is unique and special, and therefore their development environment needs to be so built to help each child reach their full potential.
On any given day at the Gingerbread house, you’ll see:
– younger children playing educational games to help them with their large motor skills
– pre-school aged children practicing their listening skills to prepare them for more formal classroom environments
– older children being tutored and getting assistance with their homework
The Gingerbread house is a center that was built to be a childcare facility, and provides an open environment – yet age appropriate rooms and spaces.
With my carefully selected and well trained staff, we provide a safe, educational and stimulating environment for your children, affording parents peace of mind knowing that their children are well cared for and loved.
Respectfully yours,
Dr. Khairy Khaksar, Ph. D.
You can call us anytime at 1 (253) 582-0232, or email us at [email protected] for additional information.
Health and Safety
The wellbeing, health and safety of our children, staff and community is of the upmost importance, and has always been our top priority.
We’re dedicated to following rigorous health protocols, including daily health screenings, face coverings, regular sanitization, regular hand washing, limiting class sizes and following all other CDC and public health best practices.
Our Staff – Dedicated Educators
The Gingerbread House Daycare and Preschool has been a family run center for the past 30 years. Owner/Director Khairy Khaksar has a Ph. D. in Early Childhood Education and carefully selects each staff member to ensure the highest standards of care for the children. Each teacher at our center is well trained in child development, children’s First Aid, CPR, Safe Food Handling techniques (and each teacher also undergoes a thorough background check and screening).

Family/Child Sick Policy
Illness/Symptoms
To stop the spread of germs, families are responsible for keeping their children home when they are ill. If your child exhibits any of the following symptoms that cannot be attributed to other health conditions, please stay home or seek medical care:
- Any symptoms of illness that prevent your child from participating in normal daily activities. A child who appears ill, which may include lethargy, persistent crying, difficulty breaking, lack of appetite, or a significant behave in behavior or activity level, is indicative of illness.
- Fever of 100.4 or higher
- Medication used to lower temperature.
- 2 loose bowel movement (diarrhea)
- Vomiting 2 times
- Coughing
- Consistent green or yellow discharge from nose
- Open wounds or sores discharging bodily fluids that cannot be adequately covered.
- Lice, ringworm, or scabies
- A rash not associated with heat, diapering, or an allergic reaction.
- COVID-19 like symptoms
Your child may return to care after being symptom free for 3 days/72 hours.
Other reasons you and your child should stay home include:
- A positive COVID-19 diagnosis
- Living in the same household with someone with COVID-19 or symptoms.
- Being within 6 feet of a person with COVID-19 or symptoms.
Your child may return to care after following health department quarantine guidelines.
The Flu and Covid-19
- Both COVID-19 and the flu are serious respiratory illnesses.
- COVID-19 and the flu share many symptoms.
- Only medical tests can confirm a person has COVID-19 or the flu.
- A positive test for one virus does not rule out the other. Infection with both viruses is possible.
- The CDC recommends people with COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms get tested for both viruses
Masks
Children age 3 and up are required to wear a facemask while in care, except when eating, drinking, or sleeping.
- Hayes will provide child sized masks.
- Talk to your child at home about the importance of wearing a mask. Masks help keep people healthy.
- Teachers will use age appropriate, positive guidance to support children’s learning and understanding.
