Mini Adventurers is an outdoor/forest school and the first one in the area! I have worked in every type ofchildcare facility in the area and they all seem to be missing a critical component of childhood—- OUTDOOR ADVENTURE!!
Obviously, I’m in Jackson so your child won’t literally be thrown into a forest. However, to be classified as a forest school (European standards as there are no official forest school regulations/qualifications for the United States….yet) there must be 1+ hours of OUTDOOR child led instruction per day, an outdoor classroom is to be present, and children should be able to roam freely without walls.
This is exactly what we are offering. We have a large back yard with an outdoor classroom currently under construction! We will run our “class time” outdoors using nature as a learning tool. Your children will still be working toward kindergarten readiness but their path will be individually tailored in a “classroom” with limitless possibilities!
We are an “in home” facility and I will be running licensed exempt but mirroring the policies of a licensed center in most areas. I will only accept 4 students at a time. This is because I am one person, we are going to be adventuring outside the confinement of a closed classroom, and safety is my top priority. I will be able to provide completely individualized care for each child with this ratio and I have no intention in exceeding it. I will follow state meal plan guidelines, safety standards, and will always be working on continuing education to make sure your children have the BEST care possible!…

Scott County, Missouri
Scott County is a county located in the southeastern part of the US state of Missouri.
As of the 2010 Census, the population was 39,191. [1] His county is Leaned On. [2] County was organized in 1821 and named for US Representative John Scott, Missouri’s first federal representative.
Scott County includes Sikeston, Missouri. Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in Cape Girardeau-Sikeston, MO-IL Combined Statistical Area.
The district is home to Scott County Central High School, which has won 18 boys’ state basketball championships, more than any high school in the state.

History
This area along the Mississippi River has long been inhabited by First Nations. In historical times the large and powerful Osage people dominated a large area, including that area both up and west of the later St. Louis, Missouri. Cape La Croix, a rocky island in the Mississippi River, has a cross erected by the Jesuit missionary Father De Montigny, who traveled with the first French explorers in 1699 year. Some French colonists established trade relations with the Osage; traders were based in Saint Louis, founded in the late 18th century.
Spain took control in 1763 after France lost to Britain in the Seven Years’ War. In 1789 they laid out the King’s Highway (El Camino Real), a north-south route crossing the county and passing through St.
Louis, Missouri. In the late 1790s, Southerners were the first United States settlers to receive Spanish land grants in the area. France briefly regained the territory and then sold it to the United States in 1803 as part of the Louisiana Purchase.
Delaware (Lenape) and Shawnee people migrated to the area in the 1820s from territories east of the Mississippi, spurred on by European-American encroachment on their lands.
The second county formed in the southeastern lowland region of Missouri, Scott County, was created by the Missouri legislature on December 28, 1821. The county was named after John Scott (1785–1861), the first congressman from Missouri. [3]
One of the earliest settlements was Trade, Missouri, long known as Tywapitty, derived from an Osage language term. It was an early French postal fur trade. Under Spanish rule until 1800 Rezin Bowie was part of the Tywappity Settlement. (He was the brother of Kentucky frontier Jim Bowie.) It was established as a river that had landed by 1803, and the residents there formed the first Baptist church in Missouri in 1805.
Sergeant John Ordway of the Lewis and Clark Expedition used the proceeds from his land bounty to purchase land at Taivapitti where he farmed. cotton and had apple and peach orchards until they were destroyed by the earthquakes of 1811-182. in New Madrid. The city was founded in 1823 and served as the seat of Scott County from 1864 to 1878.
The present seat of Benton County was founded in 1822; it is named after Thomas Hart Benton, one of the first US Senators from Missouri.
New Hamburg, the third city founded in the district, was settled by a wave of German immigrants in the late 1840s who arrived in this country after the German revolutions of 1848. The first log church was St Lawrence Catholic Church. Sikeston, the largest town in the county and the fourth established settlement, was founded in 1800 and was laid out in 1860 by John Sykes on the Cairo and Fulton Railway.
The county was devastated by guerrilla raids during the American Civil War. It subsequently developed rapidly from the 1870s to the early 1900s; its dense forests were cleared and numerous railroads were built.
Cities founded during this period included Dielstadt, Morley, Oran, Perkins, Blodgett, Crowder, Wanduser, Illmo, Fornfelt (Scott City), Chaffee, Ansell and Kelso. The railroad bridge across the Thebes and Mississippi River at Ilmo was built in 1905.
Near Morley is the grave of Nathaniel W. Watkins, state legislator and general of the Missouri Guards. He was the half-brother of statesman Henry Clay. Wilson Brown, ninth Lieutenant Governor of Missouri, lived in the county for a time. Notable early legislators such as Joseph Hunter II and Abraham Hunter also lived here.
Cotton, soybeans, melons and grains were common crops in rural Scott County. Between the Mississippi River and the drainage ditches of the Little River area is one of the oldest drainage systems in the United States, the Crawley Range, created in 1905, is the remains of an old coastal floodplain and natural dam that crosses the country.
On January 28, 2004, the Scott County Courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
Geography
According to the US Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 426 square miles (1100 km 2 ), of which 420 square miles (1,100 km 2 ) is land and 5.9 square miles (15 km 2 ) (1.4%) is water. [4] The county’s eastern border with Illinois is formed by the Mississippi River.

in 2000, there were 40,422 people, 15,626 households and 11,219 families residing in the county. The population density was 37 ⁄ km 2 (96 ⁄ miles 2 ).
There were 16,951 housing units with an average density of 16/km. 2 (40 / mile 2 ). The racial makeup of the county was 87.68%. White, 10.50% Black or African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.90% from two or more races. Approximately 1.11% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 15,626 households out of which 35.40% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.60% were married couples living together, 13.40% were females living with no husband present, and 28.20% don’t have a family. 25.00% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.80% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 3.03.
In the county, the population was spread out: 27.40% under the age of 18, 8.50% from 18 to 24, 27.50% from 25 to 44, 22.90% aged 45 to 64 and 13.70% aged 65 or older. The average age was 36 years.
For every 100 women, there were 91.60 men. For every 100 women aged 18 and over, there were 86.40 men.
The median household income in the county was $39,735 and the median family income was $48,847. The median income for males was $30,169 compared to $19,269 for females. The per capita income for the county was $19,363. About 12.30% of families and 16.10% of the population were below the poverty line, including 23.50% of those under the age of 18 and 13.60% of those aged 65 or over.
Religion
According to the Religious Data Archives Association District Membership Report (2000), Scott County is part of the Bible Belt with Evangelical Protestantism being the majority religion. The most common religious denominations in Scott County are Southern Baptist (40.54%), Catholic (27.12%), and Methodist (9.28%).
Politics
Local
The Democratic Party has historically controlled local politics in Scott County. In recent years, however, Republicans have made inroads, gaining control of several county offices in 2018 and 2020.
Republicans now hold the majority of elected office in the county, while Democrats control only the offices of County Clerk, Collector, Commissioner (District 2), Coroner, Registrar, and Surveyor.

3% 629 At the presidential level, Scott County has historically been a fairly independent county. While George W. Bush took over Scott County in 2000 and 2004, Bill Clinton won the county both times in 1992 and 1996. Like most rural Missouri counties, Scott County favored John McCain over Barack Obama in 2008 and backed Mitt Romney again in the 2012 Presidential Election by increasing margins. Confirming the strong overall trend in the region towards the Republican Party, Scott County voters supported Donald Trump in 2016 by the largest margin and percentage of Hillary Clinton, as Trump easily won 10 electoral votes in Missouri.
As with most rural areas of Southeast Missouri, voters in Scott County are generally socially and culturally conservative. In 2004, Missourians voted in favor of a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman – it overwhelmingly outran Scott County with 85.32 percent of the vote. The initiative passed with the support of 71 percent of the state’s voters as Missouri became the first state to ban same-sex marriage.
In 2006, Missourians voted in favor of a constitutional amendment to fund and legalize embryonic stem cell research in the state—it failed in Scott County, with 64.85% voting against the measure. The initiative narrowly missed the state with 51% voter support as Missouri became one of the first states in the nation to approve embryonic stem cell research. Despite a long tradition of supporting Scott County’s socially conservative platforms, voters in the county tend to move forward. populist reasons such as increasing the minimum wage. In 2006, Missourians voted in favor of a proposal (Proposition B) to increase the state’s minimum wage to $6.50 an hour – it went through Scott County from $67.99% of votes. The proposal passed strongly in all Missouri counties, with 75.94 percent of the vote in favor, as the state’s minimum wage was raised to $6.50 an hour. During the same election, voters in five other states also strongly supported minimum wage increases.
Missouri Presidential Preference (2008)
In the 2008 presidential primaries, Scott County voters from both political parties supported second-place candidates statewide and nationally.
Former US Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) received more votes, a total of 2,931, than any candidate from any party in Scott County during the 2008 presidential primary.

Of adults aged 25 and over in Scott County, 72.9% have a high school diploma or higher, and 10.6% have a bachelor’s degree or higher as the highest level of education.

History
The “Missouri Dinosaur” hadrosaur (duck beak) has been discovered at a site near Glen Allen. The bones of various dinosaurs and aquatic species were obtained from it.
The county was named after George Frederick Bollinger, [3] who persuaded 20 other families to leave North Carolina in the fall of 1799 and settle in the area west of what is now Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In order to acquire the land, Bollinger first had to sign a document stating that he and his fellow settlers were Catholics. In fact most of the group were members of the German Reformed Church and none were Catholic. However, Don Louis Lorimier, Spanish land commander Cape Girardeau, had been impressed by Bollinger on a previous visit and decided to change the rules for him and his fellow settlers.
Traveling from North Carolina with Bollinger were his brothers John, Daniel and Matthias Bollinger and two nephews, Mann Henry Bollinger and William Bollinger.
Several friends also joined the expedition, including brothers George and Peter Graunt (Grounds) along with Peter’s young son Daniel Graunt, brothers Peter and Conrad Statler, Joseph Neuswanger, Peter Krites, Jacob Cotner, John and Isaac Miller, Frederick Limbaugh, Leonard Welker and Frederick. Slinkard. Also with him is the family of Johannes Kaspar Schell; Michael, Caspar and Benjamin Schell. Benjamin Schell later married George’s sister Elizabeth at Cape Girardeau in 1807. They all immigrated with their families from Germany in the early 18th century and then moved upstairs. Shenandoah Valley to North Carolina towards the end of the 18th century.
Lorimier’s willingness to place German Reformed settlers west of Cape Girardeau is somewhat puzzling given his earlier role in placing a group of Shawnee settlers at the same location. Lorimir had intimate ties with the Shawnee group. His wife Charlotte Bougainville from Ohio Half French, half Shawnee. At Pickawillany, Ohio, Lorimier supported the British and led the Shawnee and Delaware Indian raids against the growing American presence there.
His raids led to an attempt by George Rogers Clark to exterminate the French and Shawnee at Picavillany. Lorimier survived and fled to Spanish territory, where he eventually became commandant of the land of Spain. With the help of Lorimier in 179In 3 AD, the Spaniards granted the Shawnee tribe of Ohio the right to settle on land west of Cape Girardeau. [4] By that time, the earlier indigenous tribes of the area were no longer there, presumably due to their lack of resistance to European diseases such as measles and smallpox that had previously been introduced by European traffic and settlements along the Mississippi River. Despite Lorimier’s historically protective role within the Shawnee group, many Cape Girardeau residents viewed the Shawnee with disbelief.
A group of German Reformed families led by Bollinger moved to the area in January 1800. [ citation needed] were crossing their wagons across the Mississippi River after unusually cold weather completely froze the surface.
Meanwhile, ownership of the region was rapidly changing from Spain to France and then in 1803 to the United States through the Louisiana Purchase.
The change in government ownership did not bode well for the early Shawnee settlers. In 1825 they were permanently removed when the US government passed a treaty with the Shawnee in 1825. [5] This treaty, first signed by William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition of fame, required the Shawnee to move to what is now known as Shawnee Mission, Kansas, on land formerly held by the Osage tribes. The Osage tribe was the main Native American influence during early European settlement, but by the 1830s most Native Americans had been displaced by white settlers. One of the Cherokee Trail of Tears routes went through Sedgwickville, while the other went through Glennon and Zalma.
The region west of Cape Girardeau was organized as a county in 1851 and was named Bollinger County in honor of George Frederick Bollinger. In the next county to the west, Madison County, the settlement of Frederictown was also named after George Frederick Bollinger.
Geography
According to the US Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 621 square miles (1610 km 2 ), of which 618 square miles (1600 km 2 ) is land and0005 2 ) (0.5%) – water. [6] The county’s terrain varies from the Mississippi Delta Plains in the south to the Ozark Hills in the north.

Approximately 0.57% of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 4,576 households out of which 34.30% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.80% were married couples living together, 8.40% were females living with no husband present, and 24.30% were not have families. 21.60% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.50% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.59, and the average family size is 3.00.
In the county, the population was spread out, with 26.20% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 26.80% from 25 to 44, 24.50% from 45 to 64, and 14.

Crime
Although this is not as common in Bollinger County as it is in other countries. urban area, the county is not immune from crime. According to the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Department, there were no homicides, six rapes, no robberies, 44 assaults, 54 burglaries, 84 burglaries, and three motor vehicle thefts reported in the county in 2004–2005.
Although Missouri has a notorious reputation for methamphetamine use in the US, lab incidents in Bollinger County are significantly lower and virtually non-existent compared to the regional and state averages. There were no reports of meth lab arrests in 2008 in Bollinger County, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol. [17]
However, underage drinkers and drunk driving are a growing concern for Bollinger County residents.
Climate and weather
Missouri typically has a humid continental climate with cool to cold winters and long, hot summers. Due to its location in the inland United States, Missouri often experiences extreme temperatures. With no large mountains or oceans nearby to moderate the temperature, its climate is in turn dependent on cold air. Arctic and hot and humid Gulf of Mexico. On April 27, 2002, an F3 tornado with maximum winds of 158-206 mph killed a teenager between Khan and Marble Hill and injured 16 people and caused $4 million in damage.

All of Bollinger County is in Missouri’s 8th congressional district in the US House of Representatives and is represented by Republican Jason T. Smith. Political culture Bollinger County is a Republican stronghold at the presidential level. No Democrat won Bollinger County with Jimmy Carter in 1976. Since then, voters in the county have consistently (and often strongly) supported Republican presidential candidates. Like most rural areas, Bollinger County is generally strongly socially and culturally supportive. conservative principles and therefore predominantly voted by Republicans. In 2004, Missourians voted in favor of a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman – it overwhelmingly outran Bollinger County with 88.78% of the vote. AttractionsThere are several historical attractions in Bollinger County, part of the Missouri River Heritage Region: and Native American artifacts from Missouri and other artifacts from around the world. [19] “Missouri dinosaur” lives in the museum.   James Buchanan, the first person voted for by Postmaster Washington A. McMinn.  There used to be a station here on the Belmont Railroad. It is named after Loyd Grisham, the man who helped build the rail line here from the Belmont Branch Railroad at about 1910 year.  Some say it is named after Henry Leakes, who received a land patent on January 3, 1856; others claim that it is named after Louis V. Donald Trump’s county margin is four times that of former Secretary of State and US Senator Hillary Clinton in 2016, the largest county margin for any presidential candidate from any political party in the county’s history. Bollinger County gave Trump the second largest margin in Missouri, behind only Mercer County in Northern Missouri.
