Contact our Office     Our Mission

Dear Bob,

I wanted to express my appreciation to you and the KAH staff for providing care and summer camp during an unprecedented time. Last summer, like most kids, my daughter felt isolated. I finally decided to look up summer camps for August and found KAH had a Jr. Adventure Camp (outdoors). I felt KAH had good Covid precautions in place and was comfortable in signing my daughter up. She went for 1 week and she had a great time – I had my happy daughter back. During the virtual school year I enrolled her in partial week care where she could be surrounded by peers during virtual class and socialize during lunch and breaks. I was so fortunate that this was available as it provided opportunities for my daughter to socialize. KAH played an important role in maintaining my child’s mental health and well-being during the pandemic and I am grateful. Thank you to the Garrett Park staff – Chris, Iris, Adrienne, and Edward – for helping my daughter and all kids get through the 2020-21 school year, for providing many different activities (she was never bored), and for keeping it fun for the kids. Thank you to her summer camp counselors, Edward and Roberto, for providing a normal summer experience, for driving all over MD for the field trips and for entertaining the kids! We will be moving out of state and will miss KAH. It truly is a great program. Thank you all again!

Time to give credit to our child care providers, camps, and educators making it happen for our kids this summer.

I have been a KAH parent for over 10 years. Javi has attended every single camp and service they offer , and I mean every lol Day Camp, Skate Camp, Before & After Care, Kids Night Out, Spring Break Camp , Winter Break Camp, Adventure Camp, and Traveling Teens Camp. The girls don’t fall behind they have also attended some of these.

The KAH mission is : Kids After Hours

We Help Everyone, We Care Always, AND We Have Fun Doing It!

Let me tell you they have ALWAYS gone above and beyond from that mission. All four kids have memories that as a working parent I could never give them. As parents we do our best to create memories but sometimes it’s hard.

I had to share all of this because I am truly impressed what they are doing and have done as a child care provider during and after l the pandemic! We are beyond thankful and lucky to be part of the KAH family. The baby bambina is the last one of our bunch that transitioned from day camp to junior adventure camp this year and words can’t even express her happiness!! Even with all the restrictions wherever you go the KAH team has made it happen!! After spending an entire summer with them in 2020 and doing my best to keep them busy I am truly thankful and grateful for your services!! THANK YOU !!

https://www.kidsafterhours.com/…/our…/mission-statement/

Hey Chris,

I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how impressed I am with you and all the KAH staff.  I appreciate it everyday, but it was especially helpful today when trying to do the math test.   Ugh, that test is no joke!  I’ve also been trying to help McKenzie fix her settings for a while and you swooped in and saved the day.  She was so happy!  Not that I am surprised because I already knew you were amazing!  My kids that are at KAH are thriving because of you all.  My teammates and I were talking during our meeting about how well it is going there.

Please also specifically pass my appreciation on to Edward and the other KAH person (I couldn’t tell who she was with her mask on) for helping Jxxxxxx today.  I know he can get moody and it requires a great deal of patience.  They both worked so well with him today.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Heather

About The Program

This balanced program supports academic achievement, fosters health and wellness, and instills positive social-emotional skills through:

Literacy & Reading

At the Y, we believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Books open entire worlds to kids, and literacy forms the foundation upon which all other learning depends.

Literacy & Reading

Y-Kids Are Fit

Giving children the opportunity to participate in regular physical activity and to learn about healthy choices is what Y-Kids are Fit is all about. The focus of the program is on fitness, health and nutrition.

Y Kids are Fit

STEM

The YMCA is helping all children reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys. At more than 1,000 YMCA sites nationwide, youth are engaged in year-round STEM activities that nurture their curiosity, inspire creativity and teach them how to succeed.

STEM

Family Engagement

Our families are always welcome in our afterschool programs! Parents know their children better than anyone else and research shows that a parent’s involvement in their child’s education leads to better school outcomes.

Family Engagement

Nutritional Education

Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) teaches children how to make healthy food choices and to enjoy physical activity, contributing to their social and physical development.

Nutritional Education

Arts

An after school program setting is the perfect place for youth to immerse themselves in their inner artist.  The arts range from the visual arts (creating an art project using different material and mediums provided) to dramatic and/or musical performances presented to families during a Family Night.

Arts

Homework Help

Children in our programs receive 20 minutes of structured academic support Monday – Thursday.  Children can either choose to read a book or work on a homework assignment.  During this time our Y Club Teachers may choose to read a book aloud or actively assist children.

Homework Help

Service Learning

Every month at each one of our 50+ sites, children and staff connect with their community and give back.

Service Learning

Social & Emotional Skills

Social and emotional skills are the tools both children and adults use in social interactions and to manage every day emotional responses.

Social & Emotional Skills

Character Development

The YMCA Movement defined character as the demonstration of four core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. YMCA staff intentionally modeled these values with children, youth and adult members and volunteers – as they still do today.

The Y makes the most of your child’s after school time by offering active learning opportunities designed to engage and expand young minds. Housed in local schools, YMCA After School Care gives your child the opportunity to participate in active play and collaborate on fun projects. But YMCA After School programs are more than child care. They offer a path with a purpose. Students engage in a variety of structured activities that promote positive social interactions, indoor and outdoor play and reinforce academic learning concepts, as well as lessons in empathy, inclusion and service learning.

Y Community Time

Welcome children into the program; this can consist of a formal greeting, icebreakers or group games. Students receive a healthy snack that includes a whole grain, fruit and water. The prosecutor’s office began checking media reports about the deterioration in the health status of pupils of kindergarten No. 2 of Verkhnyaya Pyshma. The group is currently under quarantine.

The press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Sverdlovsk region reported that the children’s health deteriorated after eating. On January 12, they were given black barley porridge.

Specialists from the territorial subdivision of Rospotrebnadzor will be involved in the supervision activities. During the audit, an assessment will be made of the kindergarten’s compliance with the requirements of sanitary and epidemiological legislation when preparing food. Also, employees of the department will request documents related to the purchase of food products to determine their quality and storage conditions.

If there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken.

The Department of Education of Verkhnyaya Pyshma is investigating the situation described in social networks and the media. In particular, an additional check in the kindergarten will be carried out by a special commission, which includes representatives of the administration of the city district, the parent committee and other experts. At the same time, at the moment, the education department does not have data confirming the poisoning of one of the pupils.

Earlier, MK-Ural reported that last year the prosecutor’s office began checking media reports about violations of legal requirements in catering at school No. 29 in Yekaterinburg.

Parents of students were outraged by the quality of meals prepared for schoolchildren, the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Sverdlovsk region said.

According to the media, these dishes raised doubts about the observance of cooking technologies.

When a child goes to kindergarten, it is better for mother to stay at home for some time.

And it’s not even that in many cities it’s not so easy to get a ticket to the garden now. The problem is much broader, and it almost does not depend on the level of well-being of the family and on the employment of parents, each of whom has his own experience and his personal opinion about the advantages and disadvantages of preschool institutions. So, in principle: to give or not to give? Or maybe it’s better to grandmother? Or find a nanny?

There is no doubt that a parent’s decision is largely determined by personal experience. Nevertheless, there are some very definite pluses and minuses in attending a kindergarten, determined not from the point of view of specific fathers and mothers, but from the point of view of science, more precisely, sciences – pedagogy, medicine, psychology, sociology.

Learning to communicate

From the point of view of science in general, kindergarten is unequivocally considered as a positive factor, desirable for a full-fledged upbringing. And one cannot but agree with this: since time immemorial, man has been a collective animal. The art of communicating with other members of the community largely determines the entire human life – starting with meeting people of the opposite sex, followed by the creation of a family, and ending with industrial relations (employment, career, contacts with superiors, etc.).

The art of communication, especially with peers, is undoubtedly worth learning from childhood – no family, no nannies, no non-working grandmothers can replace a kindergarten.

ARI and immunity

The main disadvantage of attending kindergarten is that the child gets sick more often. No one can argue with this, this is confirmed by both parents and medical workers, and this fact is completely obvious. Most diseases are acute infections, most often respiratory. The probability of getting sick with an infectious disease is closely related to the circle of communication – the wider it is, the easier it is to get sick. It is clear that the “home” child communicates less with other people.

The obvious fact of the increase in the frequency of diseases is not at all absolutely negative, as it might seem at first glance.

Let’s start with the fact that a number of infectious diseases that are more or less easy in childhood (chicken pox, rubella, measles) pose a real threat to the health and even life of an adult. And these diseases must be ill in a timely manner. It is very difficult to “find” rubella or chickenpox outside the children’s team.

As for colds and acute respiratory infections, the frequency of illnesses is not of decisive importance. The fact is that the number of circulating viruses, namely, 99% of respiratory infections are associated with viruses, is not infinite. Each transferred acute respiratory disease ends with the formation of antiviral immunity, reducing the likelihood of the next disease. Epidemics, for example, of influenza and the likelihood of getting sick with the very concept of “kindergarten” are not very connected – we will not catch the disease from children, so dad will “bring” the flu from work.

Viral infections that a child “doesn’t get sick” in kindergarten will definitely make themselves felt at school.

“Greenhouse” babies

What is fundamentally different is not the frequency with which the child gets viral infections, but how they occur.

If the course of acute respiratory infections is constantly accompanied by the occurrence of complications, then the kindergarten has absolutely nothing to do with it. The immunity of the child himself, living conditions, treatment tactics are important, but the likelihood that inflammation of the lungs will or will not occur against the background of a cold is absolutely not related to the fact that the child attends or does not attend kindergarten.

Summarizing the theme of “increased kindergarten morbidity”, we note the following.

Many parents tend to associate their own children’s illnesses with the fact that the “most important” rules of care are violated in the kindergarten – they dressed wrong, the child sat on the cold floor, there was a draft in the room, etc. From this point of view, the kindergarten is very comfortable thing – you can always write off your own failure as an educator on him. Creating greenhouse conditions for a child is the norm, supported by numerous instructions on how to properly dress, bathe, feed and walk. As a result, drafts, walking barefoot, cold water, lack of a hat, etc. are “unacceptable phenomena.” But did the indignant parents really hope that the child would never encounter all this in his life?

The conclusions are obvious – firstly, “there is nothing to blame on the mirror …”, and secondly: a child should be prepared for kindergarten in advance – with adequate education from the moment of birth.

It is better to wait for a job

The age at which a child first goes to kindergarten is a particular problem. Let’s leave the debate on when it is better to do it (in a year or in three), to teachers. The doctor in such a situation is more concerned about the question – where will the mother be at the time when the child goes to kindergarten?

The following situation is absolutely typical: on September 1, the child goes to kindergarten for the first time, and on the same day, the mother returns to work after her maternity leave. A week later, which is quite natural, the baby “earns” his first kindergarten acute respiratory disease, and his mother – the first leave to care for a sick child.

The following is clear: no matter how wonderful the kindergarten is, no matter how excellent the child’s health, he will still get sick more often at first.

Therefore, it is very desirable that when sending a child to kindergarten, the mother should stay at home. It is very important to be able to leave the child at home at the slightest ailment (a slight runny nose, cough), without waiting for the progression of the disease and without exposing other children to the risk of infection. And how good it is not to think about sick leave and upcoming conversations with superiors.

A very significant moment is the time of the year when attendance at kindergarten is supposed to start. Obviously, it is better not to do this from October to April – the active circulation of respiratory viruses significantly increases the risk of diseases and, accordingly, lengthens the adaptation time.

Is your child special?

A number of medical issues are directly related to employees of preschool institutions. Teachers, as a rule, have their own views on how children should be fed, dressed and tempered. For the most part, these views correspond to the ideas of our society that it is good for children – to feed at any cost and, most importantly, not to let them freeze.

If you, the parents, are aware that a child should not be forced to eat, if you understand that overheating and sweating are more likely to lead to a cold than hypothermia, take the trouble to bring this to the attention of the teacher. It is very important that Maria Ivanovna does not feel guilty about Petya refusing to eat the soup.

No one is insured against injuries and sudden illnesses. With this in mind, kindergarten employees must have information about what diseases the child had, about all cases of drug and food allergies. It is highly desirable to be able to urgently contact parents if necessary.

From the “RG” file

HISTORY

The very first kindergarten in the world was opened in 1837 by the German teacher Friedrich Wilhelm August Froebel in the city of Bad Blankenburg. And in Russia, the first kindergartens appeared in Moscow in the 70s of the XIX century. They were paid, and only since 1900 the Ministry of Public Education began to subsidize “classes with children of preschool age.”

The current crisis with a shortage of places in kindergartens is connected, among other things, with the fact that since 19In the 1990s, as a result of the conversion and privatization of kindergartens, the number of kindergartens almost halved – from 88,000 to 46,000.

It is better to pass the medical examination in advance

Every child must pass a medical examination before entering one or another group of kindergarten. This is the concern of the parents.

Do not leave worries about passing a medical examination for the last days, especially in August. At this time, and so in children’s clinics, there is nowhere for an apple to fall. And if it turns out that one of the needed doctors is on vacation, things will slow down altogether. It is especially rare when all doctors work on the same day and at a convenient time for you. As a rule, during a medical examination, a visit to the local pediatrician is mandatory, which will give a referral to other specialists: a neurologist, otolaryngologist, dentist, surgeon, ophthalmologist, orthopedist.

Therefore, it is best to plan your medical examination in advance. But do not rush with the tests – after all, the results of some of them are valid for no more than a month. Therefore, it is best to pass tests no earlier than two weeks before entering kindergarten.

Self-isolation rules for “contact” children and their parents | e1.ru

After a child with coronavirus was found in the classroom, disinfection measures should be taken there

Share

In Yekaterinburg, more than a hundred classes in schools are closed due to cases of coronavirus infection. Children were sent to study at a distance, they are considered “contact”.

At the same time, families often do not adhere to special isolation rules, children can continue to walk, go to circles and sections. There are dozens of topics on parent forums with questions about what rules apply to “contact” children? Should everyone be tested free of charge and on what day? Can I leave the house if there are no symptoms? Should parents sit at home with their children at the same time? Do they give sick leave to parents when it comes to kindergarten kids?

It is surprising that there are many questions on this topic, but there are no clear regulations and instructions either on the Stopcoronavirus.rf portal or in sections of the Rospotrebnadzor website.

— The children were quarantined for the second time in a quarter, and the teacher continues to teach in another class (primary school) with the argument “Well, I have a negative test. ” And children with the same negative tests are told to stay at home and not attend classes, ”says a user of the U-mama Alterus website.

— Dropped off for two weeks at home. Then they took the test. All were negative. Released for study and training, another parent reports.

We found out from the operational headquarters what should happen and how, if a case of infection was detected in the class, and what rules “contact” children should follow.

As a rule, we are talking about two weeks: the terms are specified in the decision of Rospotrebnadzor, the decision is sent to the school. By the way, the decision does not always come on the same day when cases of infection were discovered.

This is how the decision of Rospotrebnadzor addressed to one of the schools in Yekaterinburg looks like

Share

Lists of “contact” children and adults are transferred to polyclinics at the place of residence by the schools themselves. If your child is a coronavirus contact, you do not need to call anywhere.

It is necessary, they should be taken from children after Rospotrebnadzor sends information about “contacts” to polyclinics. According to the decree, smears should be taken on the 8-10th day of isolation. However, in practice it happens that the results of the analyzes can be slightly lost somewhere. The official recommendation is to continue calling the clinic and Rospotrebnadzor. Unofficially, in such cases, parents often prefer to have the analysis done in a private laboratory so that the child can return to school as soon as possible.

A swab is taken on the 8th–10th day

Share

Strictly speaking, during these two weeks, children stay at home and don’t go anywhere until they get negative test results. This makes sense, because, unfortunately, there were cases when, after the detection of one patient, there were others in the class.

– Visiting public places, circles, sections is not allowed, – commented at the headquarters.

We have not received any clear orders regarding walks, but it is obvious that walks in the fresh air must definitely exclude contact with other children.

Ideally, the isolation of “contacts” looks something like this – all two weeks

Share

Parents are not contacts for coronavirus if there are no confirmed positive test results in children. There are no special rules for parents in this case.

It is clear that you cannot leave a kindergarten child at home alone for the whole day, so in this case, parents have the right to issue a sick leave for child care. The city health department said that in this case, you need to apply for a sick leave to the children’s polyclinic at the place of residence – after the information is received by Rospotrebnadzor and then to the medical institution.

It turns out they can. Theoretically, in relation to the class where a case of coronavirus infection was detected, a decision could be made to continue full-time education with increased anti-epidemic measures and the introduction of isolation measures. In this case, children continue to attend school in compliance with the mask regime, a separate start time for classes, breaks, lunch, and so on is set. Visiting public places, circles and sections is also not allowed.

Classes are usually closed if there are people infected with coronavirus

Share

Recall that Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev at a recent meeting of the headquarters asked to develop a memo for parents on how children should behave during school holidays. Also, before the autumn holidays, children should have health lessons, at which they will once again talk about anti-epidemic rules.

At the initiative of the Expert Council under the Government of Russia, a professional standard has been developed for kindergarten teacher assistants and private nannies. In September, the draft standard will be submitted to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. After the document is approved in all instances, nannies will have to undergo a special training course and be able to provide first-aid medical care, as well as master the basics of pedagogy and psychology.

Experts say that now, to become a nanny, you do not need to have any professional skills, it is enough to graduate from high school and get a health certificate. A particularly difficult situation has developed in the market for private care for babies.

An expert council under the government of Russia proposed to develop a professional standard for nannies. The work is funded by a presidential grant in partnership with the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education of the Russian Academy of Education, the Neighbors Social Network of Volunteer Initiatives charitable organization, and representatives of the professional community.

Alexander Zhidkov, executive secretary of the working group on the application of professional standards in the system of vocational education and training of the National Council for Professional Qualifications under the President of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia that any organization can act as a developer of a professional standard on its own initiative. Before starting work, she notifies the Ministry of Labor about this. When the draft is ready and has passed public discussion with industry representatives, it is submitted to the ministry. The agency checks the package of documents and, if everything is in order, sends it to the National Council for Qualifications.

The Ministry of Labor informed Izvestia that when the professional standard is received by the department, it will be considered in the prescribed manner.

— We talk about the safety and development of children all the time. At the same time, the sphere of supervision and care for them is completely unregulated, there are no requirements for professional training of specialists,” Sergey Rybalchenko, head of the working group on social policy of the expert council under the government of the Russian Federation, member of the Public Chamber, told Izvestia. In his opinion, all this leads to a violation of the rights of children and parents. From time to time it becomes known about bullying of kids, and nannies go to court. One of the latest high-profile stories happened in Ufa at the end of March this year. At the disposal of the investigators was a video, which shows how the nanny beats and throws a one-year-old child on the floor.

Yanina Timofeeva, manager of the Prime domestic recruitment agency, told Izvestia that the main requirement for a nanny now is the experience of working in a family. Education is an advantage.

– As a rule, nannies do not work in a special vocational training agency. But we check the passport, medical book, ask about the previous place of work,” she explained.

Tatyana Volosovets, director of the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education, told Izvestia that now people who get jobs as junior kindergarten teachers or are hired as nannies in a family do not require absolutely any professional skills and competencies. It is enough to finish 11 classes of school and get a sanitary book.

– We think this is wrong. If an employee is not engaged in pedagogical activities, but is in direct contact with a child up to 12 hours a day, he must undergo special training,” said Tatyana Volosovets.

The professional standard assumes that a caregiver (junior educator, assistant educator and nanny) must possess the basics of pedagogical knowledge and developmental psychology, be competent in matters of education, and be able to provide first medical aid. Such an employee should, if necessary, advise parents on organizing the life of children, and in case of an emergency, promptly contact them. Also, a person caring for a small child, regardless of whether he works in a kindergarten or for private employment, is required to periodically undergo medical examinations.

— We expect the professional standard to be a guide for parents. Indeed, now many do not even try to find out if, for example, the person to whom they plan to entrust their child is sick with tuberculosis, and even more so, they are not interested in his professional skills,” said Tatyana Volosovets.

The developed professional standard states that a preschool caregiver must undergo professional training. According to experts, the course should include from 120 to 140 teaching hours. At the end of the training, the nanny must receive a certificate.

“Such a document would be a signal to parents that the specialist is ready to interact with the child and knows what to do in emergency cases,” said Tatyana Volosovets. “Also, certified specialists, as a matter of priority, could find work in kindergartens, social security or healthcare institutions.

However, she noted that so far there were no training programs for child care professionals. They are only to be developed after the approval of the professional standard by the Ministry of Labor.

Sergey Rybalchenko said that non-profit public organizations, institutes dealing with children’s issues, and domestic staff recruitment agencies can provide services for training nannies and caregiver assistants.

Chairman of the Board of the International Confederation of Consumer Societies Dmitry Yanin noted that now the market for private nannies is almost completely “gray”.

— In Russia, it is necessary to develop a system of care for preschoolers so that parents do not worry about their children and can work normally. However, our citizens are hardly ready to experiment with hiring trained nannies. Everyone understands that any legalization means a rise in the price of services, the expert believes.

According to Sergei Rybalchenko, in order for self-employed nannies to be interested in legalization and obtaining a certificate, the state should not only exempt them from taxes, but also take over the payment of insurance premiums, while forming their social rights. Such a mechanism, for example, operates in France for certified nannies.

Former students of school No. 57 began to talk about romance with a teacher

In Moscow, the scandal around school No. 57 does not subside, the teachers of which are accused of “hazing” with students. The director of the institution, who had previously announced his resignation, changed his mind about doing so, reportedly on direct orders from the head of the education department. Parents, meanwhile, are divided into those who demand the immediate dismissal of the administration, and those who believe that without them the school will lose its status, and the children will be “orphaned”.

School No. 57 held an emergency teachers’ council, where it was decided to create an ethics commission. Five teachers have been nominated to the commission. “It is very unfortunate that our colleagues Sergei Vladimirovich Volkov, Nadezhda Aronovna Shapiro (Volkov and Shapiro spoke most actively about the situation at school in social networks. – Gazeta.Ru), Natalia Alexandrovna Soprunova and Anna Vladimirovna Volkova left the meeting at the very beginning and refused to cooperate with us. It will be much harder for us to solve problems without them. We really hope that they will change their point of view, ”the school website says.

As the members of the teachers’ council note, teachers who previously wrote resignation letters (for example, Sergey Volkov) are still technically employees of the school.

“Director Sergei Mendelevich said that he had not signed any of the applications received, and therefore, formally, all the philologists were still working, but he had not received any application from Nadezhda Aronovna at all.

He also hopes for their return and the possibility of common actions and decisions,” says Grigory Saminsky, who was present at the teachers’ council. We add that open letters appeared on the network from current and former students of the 57th school, in which they ask Volkov, Volkova, Shapiro and Soprunova not to leave.

The principal of the school has not resigned either, at least not yet. Recall that earlier information about his departure was published on the school website, but then the Department of Education issued an official refutation. “Quite a lot of people during the administration and after it left said that the administration made very serious mistakes and this is beyond doubt. However, now the school has to be pulled out of a hefty pile of shit, and it would be completely untimely and inefficient to call for a new leadership, because because of such changes, the shit would have to be raked much longer and with much more losses for the school. Here Mendelevich had to speak, who said that it was his mistake – the publication of his resignation, although it was completely sincere. At night, Kalina called him (Isaac Kalina – the head of the Moscow Department of Education. – Gazeta.Ru) and ordered to remove this text and never write any statements on that site again, since it is not official.

Today at the meeting he was told: you won’t go anywhere, don’t even dream, you will first clean up all this shit, and only then you can do whatever you think is right,” Saminsky describes the situation.

Meanwhile, confessions of girls who at various times had “hazing” relationships with a history teacher began to appear on social networks. For example, Inna Mashanova wrote that she had sex with Meyerson when she was in 11th grade: “I am very scared to write about this in an open post. I don’t think teachers should sleep with their students.” Rebekah Gershovich wrote that she was silent for two years about her relationship with Meyerson, “because Boris Markovich said that if you say, the school will be closed. In fact, it was a kind of blackmail. Now I think that this is such a flawed totalitarian logic: to sacrifice a person, a lot of people, out of patriotism.” Note that Meerson himself, according to Rebekah Gershovich, some time ago left for Israel, in the city of Yokneam.

“The trial turned into a persecution of the entire school”

Principal of the capital’s school No. 57 Sergei Mendelevich after reports that the history teacher repeatedly…

Alexandra Knebekaize, who worked at school No. 57 and sent her children to study there, also writes that romances with students were not isolated cases. According to her, there is no doubt that teachers had sex with students. “Until now, I have known three cases (one of them ended in an abortion, the second in the birth of a child), not counting the numerous and persistent rumors. Only one of the cases is connected with Boris Meyerson, who was fired from school, the other two are with two other teachers. One of them – or rather, one – was fired, the other continues to work at the school.

According to her, not everyone and not everyone knew about what was happening. “What was happening mainly affected certain humanitarian classes, and those who studied in other classes and parallels might not come into contact with these stories at all, not to mention the fact that it is usually unusual for people to advertise their sex life. ” However, no concrete steps were taken. Elena Penskaya talks about the history of 2005: “All the details of the “history with historians” of 2003-2004, known to me (my daughter studied at school during these years), I told Davidovich (deputy director. – Gazeta.Ru).

After this meeting, I learned that the school administration decided to consider my message at a narrow council as an unverified rumor and blackmail.

One of the teachers, Petrokovsky, submitted a letter of resignation, but it was not signed. Another person involved – Meyerson – began to fulfill the duties of deputy director for extracurricular activities.

Recall that the start of the scandal was the post of journalist Ekaterina Krongauz (it is noteworthy that the children of many metropolitan journalists study at school). In her post, Krongauz spoke about a history teacher who worked at the 57th school and for a long time, according to her, “twisted novels” with students. Krongauz notes that she wanted to talk about this situation twice – first in the material for the “Big City” and then for Gala magazine. But every time she was stopped by colleagues who were in any way connected with this school, and asked “not to wash dirty linen in public.”

Now, the journalist said, the teacher had been fired from the school, and “that’s good.” “And he no longer works at the school,” writes Krongauz. “And that’s good, even though he was a good teacher for everyone who didn’t have an affair with him. Because it’s not good to sleep with schoolgirls if you’re an adult and their favorite teacher.”

Ekaterina Krongauz delicately did not mention the name of the teacher in question. However, Facebook users named her name for her – according to them, they are talking about history teacher Boris Meyerson. The school management promptly cleaned up information about teachers on the website of school No. 57, and Meyerson disappeared from the list of teachers, but the data remained in the cache. According to a biography removed from the site, Meyerson has been at the school since he was 19.90 years, that is, more than 25 years.

Post Krongauz seemed to open an abscess that had been ripening for more than one year. Other teachers, parents and students began to share their information about what is happening in the 57th school. Facebook users say that the stories around Meyerson and his students have been an open secret for many years. And at the same time they talked about other cases of harassment at school and the facts of drug trafficking.

In all these cases, according to users, the school administration preferred not to wash dirty linen in public.

“Listen, well, in the same school of yours, a much more loved by the people math teacher works, who feels very little boys,” said the well-known literary critic Galina Yuzefovich. “And this is generally impossible to discuss, because he is just a wonderful, wonderful teacher – for those whom he does not feel.

“Actually, Ksenia, you don’t need to sell a kidney – you need to listen to what people say and believe them,” writes Sergey Kuznetsov, head of the Marabu children’s camp, who was also aware of what was happening. – Because this whole story in the 57th has been at least an open secret for ten years now. But when I said why I don’t want to send my children there, everyone looked at me in the genre of “well, they probably didn’t take them and now he is slandering.”

“The situation of recent days has caused concern to the parents of the school students. Many came at night to the knowledge of the school to express their support to the administration and teachers of the school,” says Alexander Bolomatov, one of the parents of schoolchildren. — We understand that the widely discussed situation of recent days can be resolved by the school administration effectively, quickly, in the interests of all students, teachers, and parents. We believe that the change of school administration at the beginning of the year will harm the educational process.

We propose a one-year moratorium on any staffing decisions in the school administration.”

“The process that began as an accusation of several teachers of harassment grew into a persecution of the entire school,” writes the mother of one of the students. “We want to protect our children and teachers from this persecution. The current situation threatens to destroy our school. We are sure that Sergey Lvovich should figure it out.”
