NEW PIPELINE
Oil giant Exxon Mobil Corp.
and Plains All American Pipeline, headquartered in Houston, announced plans to build a pipeline to transport oil from the Permian Basin to the Gulf Coast.
Both companies signed a letter of intent to transport crude oil and condensate from West Texas properties and wells. The pipeline will run from Wink and Midland, with delivery points at Webster, Baytown and Beaumont.
Companies have indicated that their goal will be to transport more than 1 million barrels per day. Officials said they plan to use existing pipeline corridors to help limit potential negative environmental impacts. Financial details have not yet been released.

A Texas firefighter has died while fighting wildfires in the western part of the state.

The Star calls the Texas coastline one of its favorite places on earth and urges tourists to return to the area hit by a hurricane in August. In September, Strait came here with Gov. Greg Abbott.
TV commercials are already airing in San Antonio and Austin, while radio spots will start in the Hill Country and New Braunfels.
NOT FIRST WOMEN CLUB
Women love men in uniform. But when several women marry the same man in uniform, it can lead the “sultan” to 99 years in prison.
Mrs. D’Amato of Cyprus contacted the sheriff’s office to report that her husband was married to several women. She claims to have received emails from several Mrs. D’Amatos claiming to be married to her newly found husband.
“We met through the Internet. Nathaniel D’Amato posted pictures of himself in firefighter uniform to be more attractive to us and to make women feel at ease. We got married in April. Soon I began to receive letters – first from one woman who opened his mail, then there were six of us. We exchanged messages and documents. Three of them had marriage licenses—in Arizona, Michigan, and me in Texas. In addition, he has an active page on a dating site, ”said the young wife.

TEXAS GIVES LIFE TO GUATEMALAN CHILDREN
Nearly 100 people died and 200 went missing during the eruption of Mount Fuego in Guatemala.
Within the first 24 hours, an American emergency medical team was dispatched, including pediatric specialists, burn doctors, and our staff nurses. It was decided to send six seriously injured children to Texas for treatment. A military plane took them to Galveston. During the 2-hour flight, a special aeromedical evacuation team kept a close eye on the little patients, as the condition of four was assessed as critical.
Dr. Steven Wolf, CEO of Shriners Hospital for Children, says children have years of recovery ahead of them: “Once you enter this building, you become our patients until you are 18. Children brought from Guatemala, we have already been able to bring to a stable state. But they will have to go through all the stages – from emergency care to rehabilitation, surgical recovery, psychological assistance. The cost of treatment for each can reach millions of dollars, but for small victims it will be free.
“THE CITY IS NOT A RACIST!” OR 20 YEARS LATER

However, many in the world associate the name of this Texas city with a terrible tragedy that occurred here exactly 20 years ago.
The high-profile racist murder of African-American James Byrd in Jasper in June 1998 was one of the reasons for the US Congress to pass the expanded Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Hate Crimes Prevention Act in 2009
On June 7, 1998, three whites, Sean Berry, Lawrence Russell Brewer, and John King, offered a ride to disabled black James Bird to Houses. What followed this can be a dream in a monstrous nightmare. Byrd was severely beaten, his throat slit, urinated on him, then chained by his ankles to a pickup truck and dragged along a country road. For 3 miles, a bloody trail stretched with body parts and things of a dying person. The forensic examination showed that when James was dragged along the road, he was still alive. The severed hand, and then the head of Byrd, the police found separately from the decapitated torso. Leaving the body in the middle of the road for all to see, the killers left to celebrate and sleep.
The crime was committed in the classical tradition of lynching – decapitation of the victim and entertainment, a picnic or a barbecue, immediately at the time of the murder or after it.
Newton County Sheriff Billy Rawles, who was Jasper County Sheriff at the time, said the bloody crime scene haunted him his entire life. “It was a horrific, racially motivated murder. It left a stain on Jasper that is not easy to remove even today. But it’s not the city that dealt with a man so terribly, but three scoundrels. Alas, there is such a word – a stereotype. The whole world is pointing fingers at us,” Sheriff Rawls says.
The famous Belgian actress and film director Chantal Ackerman, inspired by the works of W. Faulkner, was going to make a film about the beauty of the American South, but after visiting Jasper in 1999, she changed her mind.
The killers were convicted. Berry’s pickup truck driver was sentenced to life imprisonment, two obvious Nazis to death. Brewer was executed in 2011, and King lost his final appeal this year.
