Recent Review:

This Academy is awesome my children loves every bit of it, I love how we’re able to communicate with staff through the app that’s provided and am able to review cameras at anytime. However the only issue is notbeing made aware of closures in a timely manner. If this Academy were to reopen I honestly will bring my children back because I’ve seen tremendous growth in them especially with my son who has a speech delay. Lastly Ms. Chelsea loves those children like they’re her own….

I think children will be interested here. To be honest, I do not like alligators and snakes, so I was not wildly delighted. But what surprised me is that even the little allegators are very strong, it is difficult to hold them in your hands.

We stopped here on our way back from Galveston, it’s a great place. The staff were very knowledgeable. I studied things that I didn’t know. You can swim with the alligators, my little niece loved doing it. Remember if you want to make a travel book 24 hours in advance alligator swamps. This is a must. nine0003

I wanted to visit, so I saw the Gators. It was expensive to get in and not much to see. The part of the park where you can keep animals was ok. It’s a good thing to visit once, but no more. nine0003

We loved it!

March 2017 • Family vacation

The only suggestions I have is to go class split into shorter portions and make the staff more involved with every guest they see. It’s not very clean to walk around or go unless you enter the hotel. Also, we paid extra for pets and other hotels but it seemed like we would be able to do that for an extra charge. Perhaps if people with inexperienced workers were identified early on, the extra pay would be worth it. Everyone had a great time! Thank you! nine0003

Thank you for your suggestions! We are all still getting used to the transition of entrances. I’m not sure if you had been here before walking through the Big Green Metal Gator, but the entrance used to be where the main building is. Its running a lot smoother since March. Change takes time, but we are all doing our best to make Gator Countrys’ visits the best experience we can give you. We have regular admission and our adventure package. We don’t charge extra for interaction with our smaller animals. That comes with either package. The neon yellow bands are for the adventure package and we normally don’t offer it during field trips because of time and clothes getting wet. Feel free to come back and visit anytime. Our adventure packages take place on weekends from here on out until school is out and we don’t have field trips.

Pavel Astakhov returned to Texas – Picture of the day – Kommersant . The official clarified that the Russian authorities became aware of another incident from the message of an “American citizen”, and then “an adopted girl applied to the Russian Embassy with a complaint about her parents.” The Texas Child Protection Service confirmed to Kommersant that the Klimov sisters were indeed removed from the family and temporarily placed in an orphanage, but all accusations against foster parents are based on their testimony. nine0003

Pavel Astakhov announced a new scandal with Russian adopted children in the US in his Twitter microblog. According to the official, the first report of bullying of three orphans in the state of Texas came from “an American citizen who observed this family and adopted children several months ago,” and in early March, “one of the foster girls independently applied to the Russian Embassy with a complaint about the adoptive parents “. nine0003

As evidence, the commissioner cited a photograph of a handwritten letter beginning with the words “Dear Russian Consulate. ” True, this time Pavel Astakhov preferred not to rush to conclusions and suggested that the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Education first “request all information about this case from the US authorities, and then take action.”

As Kommersant found out, 16-year-old Anastasia Klimova and her 15-year-old sister Svetlana were taken into care by Texas state authorities on March 21. Their older brother, 17-year-old Alexei, ran away from home last June and is still on the federal wanted list. nine0003

The children were adopted by Michael and Panny Deckert from Silsby, Texas, in Krasnokamensk, Perm Region, in 2003. Child Protection Officer Shari Pulliam confirmed to Kommersant that the state’s social services have received reports of “improper treatment” of adopted children before, but several investigations were closed due to “lack of evidence.” Nevertheless, she noted that relations in the family “did not develop easily” and, on the recommendation of social workers, foster parents attended psychotherapy sessions with their children. nine0003

A few years ago, employees of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Houston checked the living conditions in a foster family, but, according to Ms. Pulliam, they did not notice any special problems.

She reported that in early March, the state’s child abuse hotline received a call from an anonymous caller claiming that one of the girls had been sexually abused by her foster family. This information was confirmed by the Klimov sisters themselves in a conversation with social workers. “Based on the statements received from the girls, we asked the court to remove them from the family and, until the end of the investigation, transfer them to the custody of the state authorities,” Shari Pulliam told Kommersant. nine0003

By court decision, the sisters were temporarily placed in an orphanage. “They have completed the necessary medical examinations and are now doing well,” Ms. Pulliam added. At the same time, the state authorities continue to search for the escaped Alexei. True, according to the laws of Texas, a 17-year-old boy is not required to return to a foster family and can choose his own place of residence.

In a conversation with Kommersant, psychotherapist Diane Black from Beaumont, Texas, admitted that she was the very “American citizen” who drew the attention of the authorities to the situation in the Deckert family. She said that she had been fighting the state’s social services for the fourth year in a row, but all her appeals, until recently, remained unanswered. nine0003

Ms. Black visited her adopted children for the first time in the summer of 2008 and was amazed by the conditions in which they live. “The windows of the house were boarded up, the orphans were not allowed outside and were not even allowed to wave their hands to the neighbors,” she says.

According to Diane Black, the brother and sisters were not allowed to go to school. The foster mother constantly beat the children and once even knocked out Alexei’s front teeth. The father, in turn, constantly tried to get rid of the boy. “In 2008, he called me to his place and said that I could take the child with me,” she says. nine0003

At the urging of the psychologist, the parents still allowed the children to go to school, but nevertheless they constantly tried to run away from home. “I can count at least nine such cases,” said Diane Black. In addition, Alexei was arrested at the age of 12 on charges of theft, and then repeatedly got into the police for various offenses.

In May 2009, a therapist attempted to personally drive the children to the State Child Protective Services office. “I had a small business – a private orphanage, and I was ready to explain that it would be better for them,” she explained to Kommersant. As a result, however, the children were returned to a foster family, and Diane Black herself was arrested, accused of organizing the kidnapping and at the same time deprived of her license to work with children. nine0003

Since then, she says she has been suing the state and has not seen the children in the last three years. Despite this, in March 2013 she sent an email to Pavel Astakhov, describing the situation in detail. “I think the authorities finally reacted only because there were a lot of Russian officials in Texas at the time who were investigating the death of another Russian boy,” she elaborated.

State Child Welfare Services declined to comment on Ms. Black’s account. “We only relied on the information received from the girls and cared about their safety,” said Shari Pulliam. nine0003

The accusations against them were called groundless by the adoptive parents. In a telephone conversation with Kommersant, Penny Deckert said that one of her daughters actually called the hotline and stated that her adoptive father was raping her. “This is far from the first lie we have heard from her,” she says.

“For the past seven years, all we’ve been doing is trying to help these kids, but getting threats and false accusations of violence in return,” lamented Penny Deckert. She clarified that in the past two years her husband has undergone two heart surgeries, so “the words about some kind of sexual harassment look absurd.
