The Prix Goncourt is awarded in France from 1903 years. The winners are determined during a gala dinner at the Drouan restaurant in Paris by ten critics and writers. Over the years, Maurice Druon, Marcel Proust, Patrick Modiano and other writers have become laureates.

Two years have passed since Mikhail Zhvanetsky is no longer with us. And there is a new book that has just been published by the Eksmo publishing house. “Texts for Reflections” is a nice pocket volume (the format is such that you can throw it in your purse and quote on occasion, peeping) of smart and sparkling phrases collected by the writer’s wife Natalya Zhvanetskaya from previously published books, records, as well as from archival materials and manuscripts.

For more than half a century, Mikhail Zhvanetsky has performed on stage with miniatures and monologues, as if reflecting society and time in a mirror. For many, he was literally “on duty in the country” (that was the name of the monthly program that Zhvanetsky led for eighteen years), sharply and accurately reacting to what was happening around, allowing listeners, along with him, with irony, and sometimes with slight sadness, to look at the current developments. His phrases are spoken by people of different generations and even those who were not his fans. Yes, at least this one: “Is it okay, Grigory? Excellent, Konstantin!” Or here’s another: “It’s hard to enter into history, but it’s easy to get into trouble.” And there are many of them. And how much more will go to the people after the release of a new book – one can only guess. “What are his works good for? This question is perfectly answered by the name of the new book -” Texts for Reflections “. Everyone perceives these lines in their own way and thinks out their meaning for themselves,” says Mikhail Zhvanetsky’s wife Natalia.
