Perm has become a platform for a working video conference of members of the federal project “United Russia” – “Digital Russia”. Its main theme is to improve the effectiveness of teaching computer science in Russian schools.

– In May, “United Russia” launched a new party project “Digital Russia” to assist in the digitalization of the country, support domestic developments against the backdrop of the withdrawal of foreign companies from the Russian market, – said, opening the meeting, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and communications, one of the founders of the Digital Valley of the Kama region Anton Nemkin. – This important project is designed to respond to the key challenges facing Russia today. And one of its key tasks is to fill the shortage of personnel in the IT industry and train specialized specialists. The role of education and schools in this process is invaluable.

The deputy noted that it is necessary to improve the efficiency of the educational process, as well as the level of digital competence of school teachers. Often, informatics lessons are taught by part-time teachers of physics or mathematics. Skilled IT specialists easily find a place for themselves in private companies. In order for them to go to work in schools, the salary of informatics teachers must correspond to the average level of specialists in this area. They should also be covered by government support measures provided to programmers, for example, preferential mortgages. In addition, one of the ways to solve the problem would be to attract students of IT specialties to schools.

During the meeting, Denis Ushakov, Deputy Director for Informatization of the Presidential Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 239, singled out the main problems of teaching computer science and made recommendations for their elimination.

– At the lyceum, we often encounter the fact that the guys who come to us do not have basic skills: they do not know touch typing technology, they do not know how to organize the desktop space on a computer, they do not know programming, – said Denis Ushakov. – I believe that programming should become a separate subject in the curriculum, which at 9-11 classes need to allocate 1-2 hours a week. It is also necessary to change the motivation of teachers. Now, when assessing them, it is considered more important that the teacher trained one winner of the Olympiad in five years, but it is necessary that he train 300 people who know the basics of computer science and programming in 5 years.

– Starting from September 1, the country will update its curricula to include teaching taking into account digital educational tools, – said Anna Timofeeva, Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy and Management in the Sphere of General Education of the Ministry of Education of Russia. – But students of the first and fifth grades should switch to the federal educational standard of the new generation, the rest for now – according to the readiness of educational institutions.

– It is necessary to increase the efficiency of obtaining knowledge in IT specialties by schoolchildren, – said Alexander Abrashkin, Deputy Head of the Department for Coordinating Programs and Projects of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development. – One of the ways to do this is to provide schoolchildren with digital educational content free of charge as part of the federal project “Personnel for the Digital Economy”. We already have a similar experience when schoolchildren studied at Innopolis University courses. A two-year course in programming languages for students will begin in 2022 8 – Grade 11. This course will be an addition to the basic school curriculum in mathematics and computer science.0004

Minister of Education and Science of the Perm Territory Raisa Kassina noted that it is necessary to involve IT companies operating in the regions in the process of advanced training of computer science teachers.

– At the same time, I want to say that the Perm Territory already has its own electronic system EPOS.School, which allows you to solve a large number of pedagogical, methodological and organizational tasks at an automated level, – said the Minister of Kama region.

Also speaking at the meeting were Larisa Revutskaya, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Mari El, Sergey Mardanov, Director of VK University Relations, Deputy General Director of Digital Education LLC, and Konstantin Egorov, Rector of the Perm State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University.

– Today, Russia is facing the challenges of quickly building digital sovereignty, import substitution, as well as bringing Russian-made software and computer equipment to export volumes and training IT specialists is one of the main tasks, – summarized Anton Nemkin.
