AMERICA’S MOST ACCREDITED

We’re so proud!

Nationally only 10% of daycares are accredited – nearly 100% of our learning centers are. That’s a big difference,
and that means KinderCare kids are getting the very best. Here’s why.

SCHOOL-READY

What Learning Looks Like

Our talented early-childhood teachers set kids down the path toward becoming lifelong learners in a positive, safe, and nurturing environment.

Celebration KinderCare Programs

Infant Programs (6 weeks–1 year)

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care is a big step. Everyone at our
centers—most importantly, our naturally gifted infant teachers—will work with
you to make sure the transition goes smoothly. When you step into our infant
classroom, you’ll see how much we want your infant to feel safe, loved, and
ready to explore their world.

Toddler Programs (1–2 Years)

Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. That’s
because a lot is going on at this age. When your child is wandering all over the
place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. We’ll
help them explore their interests (and find new ones!) as they play and learn.

Discovery Preschool Programs (2–3 Years)

This age is filled with so much wonder and curiosity. That’s why we offer a ton
of books and toys and bring artwork down to kids eye level. Children in
discovery preschool also begin to learn how we all work together in a
classroom. Simple math and science, pretend play, and group play help them
get used to a more structured school setting.

Preschool Programs (3–4 Years)

This age is all about expression, when kids really start to form their own ideas
about what they want to play and how they want to create. Every day in our
preschool classroom, your child will explore science experiments, create
artwork, and play pretend—all the skills needed for their big next step:
kindergarten!

Prekindergarten Programs (4–5 Years)

When you walk into one of our pre-K classrooms, you’ll see artwork and
writing displayed around the room. Labels are everywhere to help kids connect
letters with words. You’ll also see pictures on the walls that reflect the families
in our community. Your child will also deepen their knowledge in language,
math, science, Spanish, and social skills.

Before- and After-School Programs (5–12 Years)

You can count on us to provide reliable care for your school-ager while you’re
at work, with safe transportation from our center to your child’s school and
back! Whether your child wants to start a drama club, build a volcano, or
create a comic book, they will have a place to follow their dreams. Your child
will start and end the day with a whole lot of fun!

School Break Programs (preschool, prekindergarten, and school-age)

Winter break, spring break, summer break—when school’s out (but you still need to work), you
can count on KinderCare to provide a safe and supportive learning environment that’s focused
on fun. We welcome children ages 5–12 during school break times and make sure they have a
sensational, screen-free experience they won’t forget.

Participating Child Care Aware Center

KinderCare partners with Child Care Aware® of America to offer fee assistance for
Active Duty military families and flexible support to fit their needs when care at a Child
Development Center on the installation is not available.

Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten Programs

Learning Adventures – Enrichment Program

Cooking Academy™ (3 – 12 Years)

In Cooking Academy, kids learn new recipes from cultures around the world and
develop a healthy relationship with food. They’ll whip up everything from Southwest
rainbow lettuce wraps to pumpkin muffins, building their skills in STEM, communication,
and more along the way. And yes—little chefs get to eat their culinary creations!

Music Explorers™ (2 – 4 Years)

KinderCare families are already giving a standing ovation to our newest Learning
Adventures program: Music Explorers! Kids will learn to sing, move, listen, play
instruments, and even create their own tunes. Our original curriculum blends math,
science, social studies, literacy, and mindfulness (think yoga!) for a uniquely KinderCare
way of learning the foundations of music.

Phonics Adventures® (2 – 4 Years)

Learning how to read is a whole lot of fun at KinderCare! We help kids grow to love
books and words (and get ready for kindergarten) in our Phonics Adventures program.
From discovering the basics of vowels to practicing poetry, kids learn all about letters
and sounds in small-group lessons made just for their age group. (Bonus: Kids who
attend our phonics program are more prepared than their peers for school—and we
have the data to prove it.)

Spanish

Spanish Adventures provides young learners with a foundation for later success with
the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give
children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language to develop
vocabulary and conversation skills. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers,
colors, animals, family, body parts, and pets, as well as how to engage conversationally
during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.

STEM Innovators (3-8 Years)

You’ve probably heard a lot about how important STEM education is for your child, but
what does that really mean? Our STEM Innovators program takes kids’ natural ability to
make sense of the world and applies it to robotics, chemistry, coding, geology, and
more. While your child experiments, they’ll discover how to use technology to do
amazing things!

Our Teachers

We’re the only company in early childhood education to select teachers based on natural talent. Being a great educator isn’t enough though.
KinderCare teachers are also amazing listeners, nurturers, boo-boo fixers, and smile-makers. Put more simply,
we love our teachers and your child will, too.

Meet just a few of our amazing KinderCare teachers!

A KINDERCARE TEACHER WITH

An Artist’s Heart

“My classroom is full of art!” says Mary Annthipie-Bane, an award-winning early childhood educator at KinderCare. Art and creative expression, she says, help children discover who they really are.

We put our best-in-class teachers in a best-in-class workplace. We’re so proud to have been named one of Gallup’s 37 winners of the Great Workplace Award.
When you put great teachers in an engaging center, your children will experience
an amazing place to learn and grow.

Family Stories

Don’t take our word for it. Hear what our families have to say about our amazing center!

  • Dear Dawn,

We wanted to take a moment to let you know how much we appreciate you and the KinderCare staff. When it came time to send our children to daycare we had several options, however, after you gave us a tour we knew instantly our children needed to be at KinderCare. The teachers are all so kind and compassionate with the kids and the curriculum is very well thought out.
Since our children have started at KinderCare we have noticed several wonderful changes in them. We started our KinderCare adventure with a somewhat shy, reserved little girl and almost three years later we have a totally confident, outgoing, ambitious little girl that loves to learn. In just one year our little guy has learned to better express himself with words and how to participate in a structured learning environment. We attribute much of these positive changes to the wonderful teachers at KinderCare and the partnership they form with the parents regarding their children’s education and needs.
As parents, we love knowing that we are sending our children to a safe, structured, fun and happy environment. We think it’s amazing how all of the teachers seem to know every child’s name in the school, even if they’ve never had them in their class. We appreciate knowing that we are always welcome to talk to you or the teachers about any concerns or issues with our children’s education or overall experience at KinderCare.
We would highly recommend KinderCare to any parent looking for a caring, safe, fun, educational, compassionate daycare facility. We truly feel we made the best decision for a daycare when we chose you. Thank you for all that you and your staff do for our family.

    Sincerely,
    Melissa H

  • Small Fry has attended this branch of KinderCare since she was a small tot. Although this “school” may be a little more pricey than other daycares, it is well worth the money. Each classroom, even the baby rooms, is run like a school with a curriculum that includes all aspects of education. The children are, however, given freedom to explore and learn at their own pace. From babies to school age, all the curriculum are well thought out and fun. KinderCare serves children from newborns to age 12. A bonus for first graders and up, is that they have a bus that will take your child to the local schools and pick them up after. This for me has been a lifesaver on several occasions when I’ve had an early morning appointment or meeting. In the summer time and holiday breaks KinderCare has a differently themed camp program each week. Some I remember from this past summer are: Robotics, Animals, Wilderness, Egyptology… Each week saw Small Fry learning something new and being excited and engaged. The teachers are all wonderful and KinderCare has an open door policy, which I have used over the years. I have witnessed nothing but the best of care for my child, and would never consider going elsewhere. Dietary restrictions? No problem! Although the menu they serve on a daily basis is nutritious and appeals to kids, they will make sure that your child is well fed within your guidelines. Another great feature is the ability to pay on-line and track your FSA spending. Makes it so easy, instead of having to write a check every week! If you have a little one that needs quality childcare in the Celebration area, Small Fry would highly recommend KinderCare!

Frequently Asked Questions

What accreditations does KinderCare have?

We are your trusted caregiver. Our centers are state-licensed and regularly inspected to make sure everything meets or exceeds standards, including child-to-teacher ratios and safe facilities. Our centers aren’t just licensed—most are accredited, too! Find out more.

Do you offer part-time schedules at Celebration KinderCare?

Everybody’s schedule is different. We’re happy to offer quality, affordable part-time and full-time childcare. Drop-in care may also be available. Reach out to your Center Director to learn more.

How does naptime work at Celebration KinderCare?

Our teachers meet every child’s needs during naptime. Our teachers know how to get babies to nap. In fact, they are pros at getting children of any age to nap. Visit our article on “10 Ways We Help Kids Get a Great Daycare Nap” to learn more.

Do you support alternative diets?

We strive to be as inclusive as possible. To that point, we provide a vegetarian option at mealtime, take care to not serve common allergens and can adapt menus based on your child’s food sensitivities. If your child has additional needs, we’ll work with you to figure out a plan.

Are meals included in tuition? Can I choose to send my child with lunch?

We provide nutritious meals and snacks developed by a registered dietician to meet the needs of rapidly growing bodies and minds. If your child has special dietary requirements and you would prefer to bring in their lunch, please make arrangements with the center director.

Does my child need to be potty-trained?

Every child begins toilet learning at a different age. Until your child shows an interest in toilet learning, we’ll provide diaper changes on an as-needed basis. When your child shows an interest, we’ll discuss how to work together to encourage toilet learning.

Note on Deficiencies

Deficiencies are listed in broad categories and are available online for 36 months. We encourage you to contact your region office for an explanation of any of the deficiencies, or for additional information about this facility’s compliance. Resolved “On Site” means that a violation was resolved during the Licensing Specialist’s inspection.

Severity Levels

High:

These are the most serious violations of child care regulations and could pose a risk to the health and safety of children. If you would like an explanation of any of the deficiencies, or would like additional information about this facility’s compliance, please contact your regional office.

Medium:

These are significant violations of child care regulations and could negatively impact the health and safety of children. If you would like an explanation of any of the deficiencies, or would like additional information about this facility’s compliance, please contact your regional office.

Low:

These violations are the least likely to impact health and safety, but they still show that a facility is out of compliance with some child care regulations. Note on Frequency of Inspections

Centers, Group Homes, and Licensed Family Homes::

In 2014, legislation was passed that changed the number of unannounced visits from two per year to one per year in Child Care Centers, Group Child Care Homes, and Licensed Family Child Care Homes. As a result of this new law, you may see a decrease in the number of deficiencies listed on this website for these types of providers. Unannounced visits are still made in response to a complaint, and visits are scheduled with the facility during the re-licensing process, which occurs every two years.

Registered Family Homes:

Most family homes are registered, not licensed. In 2014, legislation was passed that allows Child Care Licensing to make one unannounced visit to these homes each year. As a result of this new law, you may see an increase in the number of deficiencies listed on this website for Registered Family Child Care Homes. Unannounced visits are still made in response to a complaint. Click here for an overview of each facility and the requirements they must meet according to state law.

CLASS PROFILES AND PRICING

What People Are Saying About Us:

“The love and care you have given our daughter from 9-1 has meant so much to us. She has adjusted well to a school routine and it’s been so comforting to know she is in great hands all while singing songs, dancing, making art, making friends, learning about Jesus and so much more. At the age of 2, our girl climbed to the very top of a rope ladder at the park a few weeks ago and said, “with God, all things are possible.” She was sitting on the edge of the fireplace recently and was holding a small book open and was basically preaching, “God loves you…and you….and you! And God loves everybody!” We give you and your staff all the credit for beautiful moments like that!! We are most grateful for Celebration Academy. “

— Amber A.

“Celebration Academy has become our second home! The school culture and nurturing environment has strongly supported my child in his spiritual, emotional, and academic growth. I am constantly impressed at how teachers and staff genuinely love each and every child. The skills, manners, and happiness that my child brings home on a daily basis is the most reassuring feeling as a parent. We love being a part of Celebration Academy’s family and are proud of our school!”

— Darcy D.

“Celebration Academy has been a part of our tribe in both parenting and educating our 3 children over the last 4 years. We Are so blessed to have been given the opportunity to experience a school that shares the same beliefs and values of our family. The size of the school is perfect, as it captures a sense of community and opens the doors for many relationships. Our children are loved so well by every staff member and most importantly learn about the love of God.”

— Lindsay K.

“We could not be happier with the Kindergarten program at Celebration Academy. The small class size and half day hours were just what our daughter needed before transitioning to a full time 1st grade program. She was very prepared for 1st grade and her school’s entrance testing showed she was right on track with other children her age. We now have our second child in Kindergarten at Celebration Academy and again are so happy with the program. We love Mrs. Darrell and her approach to teaching. She is very nurturing and loving and she makes learning fun for the kids. She is very approachable, quick to respond to parent emails, and excellent at communicating with parents on a regular basis. We have been very impressed with her individualized approach to the class and that she does not take a “one size fits all approach” to the students. She is able to identify strengths and opportunities for each of our children and really focus on those. Our children have not only academically excelled, but also significantly grown spiritually and emotionally. It has been such a blessing to partner with a school who shares the same values and beliefs as our family, and who teach the children about God’s love daily.”

– D & E Blackert

“My son is always so excited to come home and show me what he’s done (even if it’s just a green for good behavior) and tell me all about his day! Thank you for making each day so special. He has learned so much. You (Ms. Kellie) and Ms. Raquel really put so much into teaching these kids and it doesn’t go unnoticed 🙂 He can write his name and he can spell his first and last name! We are working with him at home and can see so much of what he has learned at school! Thank you so much for caring like you do to help these sweet babies learn! You have made an impression on him and he sees school as exciting and fun! As a teacher I love knowing that my child loves school and to learn, but as a mom this is so much more to me because I know he is safe, loved, and wants to be there!”

Day Care Birthday Party Ideas For Your Toddler’s Special Day

What to do if you want to plan a birthday party at your toddler’s day care

By

Dawn Miller

Birthdays are such a special event and when it’s your child’s birthday, they want to celebrate everywhere. School-aged kids love to share birthday treats with their classmates and with their sports teams. Toddlers aren’t any different. Birthdays are a source of excitement for toddlers. Toddlers want to share that excitement with everyone, especially their day care friends. It’s not out of the question to have a birthday party at a day care center and there are certainly plenty of fun day care birthday party ideas.

Contents

  • Check available times
  • Keep food simple
  • Figure out how many children will attend
  • Choose a theme
  • Forgo presents and balloons
  • Don’t forget goodie bags
  • Other day care birthday party ideas

Before planning a day care birthday party though your first stop in the planning process is the day care center director. Most day care facilities have specific policies regarding marking birthday celebrations, and it is important to know what your day care center’s is before planning something. Once you know the rules, you can plan accordingly. It’s vital to abide by the day care center’s birthday policy; doing so helps to keep the day special for your child and will avoid any future issues with the day care staff.

Check available times

Many day care facilities allow birthday celebrations at breakfast, snack, or lunchtimes. Parents are typically allowed to attend, but that is definitely a question to ask when speaking with the day care director.

Michele Walls/Shutterstock

Keep food simple

Since day care centers cater to children from infancy through kindergarten age, many of the attendees may have food allergies or special diets. It’s important to know if there are any food allergies or dietary concerns before planning a birthday snack.

The snack should also be quick and easy. Cupcakes or doughnut holes with a juice box usually works best. Cake is hard to eat for most little kids and can be messier for the day care staff to clean up. A large number of day care facilities have a no-sugar policy and prefer healthier birthday snacks like fruit, frozen yogurt, or muffins. Many will require the snacks to be store-bought with listed ingredients. When setting up the day and time for your kiddo’s day care birthday celebration, ask what foods are okay to bring.

Day care facilities typically divide children into classes by age. It is important to know if birthday snacks include just your child’s room or all the children at the day care center. When you speak to the day care director about arranging a birthday snack for your toddler, be sure to ask how many snacks are needed. Then, plan on bringing extras to the celebration. Day care numbers fluctuate often, and kids drop or spill food. To avoid tears, have extras on hand to save the day.

Choose a theme

The best way to present a birthday party theme at the day care center is through plates and napkins. Pick a fun design your toddler likes, whether it’s dinosaurs, superheroes, or Disney characters. Ask beforehand if you need to come early to set up the party plates and snacks or if you just need to send it in with your child in the morning. Many times, the day care staff will put the birthday snacks out on the tables for the children in preparation for snack time.

Forgo presents and balloons

While you may want to shower the birthday boy or girls with balloons or gifts, day care is not the place. Little ones often have trouble recognizing when presents are not for them. You can avoid the whole issue by surprising your toddler with a balloons and presents later when everyone is at home.

Don’t forget goodie bags

Take-home goodie bags for your toddler’s day care friends are a nice gesture and help make the day more festive for your little one and everyone else. When making goodie bags, try to avoid food or candy because of allergies. Consider the size of the objects, since your child’s day care friends might be at different developmental stages. Just like with food, get a head count first and make up at least two or three extras just in case.

Other day care birthday party ideas

If your child’s day care center isn’t keen on birthday-snack celebrations, there are other ways you can come in and make your child’s day a little more special:

  • Story time: Make arrangements with the day care director and your child’s teacher to come in and read a story. Choose a story that is your birthday boy or girl’s favorite.
  • Lead a fun activity or craft: With the permission of the director and your child’s teacher, plan an age-appropriate arts and crafts project or activity on your child’s birthday. Bring in all the necessary supplies and be sure to cut any paper or patterns beforehand. If you’re doing a science activity like bubble-making, make sure to bring all the supplies with you. Don’t forget to clean up when the activity or project is over.
  • Donate: Day care facilities are always in need of toys, puzzles, CDs, books, or arts and crafts supplies. If your child’s day care doesn’t host birthday snacks or allow parent volunteers, consider donating a new set of puzzles or books in honor of your child’s birthday.
  • Birthday poster: For show and tell on the week or day of your child’s birthday, send in a collage of photos showing your toddler through the years. Your child will love showing off adorable photos of themselves.

There isn’t any shortage of day care birthday party ideas. When it comes to celebrating your toddler’s birthday at day care through it really is up to the policy of the facility. Once you speak to the director, you can plan accordingly whether it’s for a yummy birthday snack, a fun story time, or a special art project in honor of your toddler’s special day. Always remember to follow the rules of the day care facility even if you are disappointed by them. They are, after all, taking care of your little one while you are at work, and it’s important to respect their policies.

Special Days, Parties, and Holidays in Daycare-Little Sprouts Learning

This page may contain affiliate links. Learn More.

Celebrating special days and holidays in daycare can make wonderful opportunities for children to learn about customs and values that matter to people. A fun part of running a home daycare is planning parties or activities for these special days.

Holidays for children

Holidays can be a lot of fun for kids and they can learn a lot from them. They are part of learning to make friends too. At Little Sprouts, we celebrate Thanksgiving by learning about gratefulness and telling what we are thankful for. Or we celebrate Christmas by packing care bags for homeless people that my husband and I drop off later.

We also do a gingerbread celebration to bring the families together and enjoy each other. And we usually will have a PJ and Christmas movie day on the last day before we are closed for Christmas.

We try to celebrate the holidays in daycare that are important to all of the families and include their culture in our celebrations any way we can. We want to make sure families know that we feel they are all important and not one culture over another.

Obviously, celebrating my own culture comes more naturally and easier for me because I’m used to it, but I try to stay mindful of including everyone in our plans. If I don’t know anything about a certain culture, I will ask a parent how they like to celebrate something and if they’d like to share that with the daycare.

I love to learn about what is important to different kinds of people and what makes them feel seen and special and important.

You can also do the 12 days of Christmas activities with kids!

Holidays in daycare

Check out these 5 minute games for daycare to add to your plans!

Some holidays that we celebrate are Valentine’s Day, Dr. Seuss Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. These home daycare crafts and activities for special holidays can help make your celebrations fun!

There are many ways to celebrate Valentine’s day. You can throw a party, or do a craft, or enjoy some Valentine’s day process art. If you want to spread it out for a week or two, instead of doing a party, you can just do a Valentine’s theme.

Check out this fun Valentine Picture Bingo game for your Valentine’s Day theme or party this year!

We like to make goodie bags, have the kids bring snacks to share and Valentine cards, and we will do some arts and crafts, play a few games, and make our parents Valentine’s cards. It’s about celebrating friendship and fun.

Check out all the fun we have had celebrating Dr. Seuss Day at Little Sprouts.

For St. Patrick’s Day, we just learn about the color green. We usually eat green foods and maybe do a color sheet or shamrock game. We keep it pretty low key. St. Patrick’s Day coloring is a fun activity for kids of all ages. Here are some leprechaun coloring pages and some St. Patrick’s Day gnome coloring pages for kids of all ages.

For Easter, we like to have a big family celebration with everyone’s families at the daycare. We do an Easter egg hunt and more. Check it out by clicking on the link. It’s my favorite of the holidays in daycare that we celebrate!

For some fun Easter Pom Pom Mats, check this out.

And this adorable Easter Chick Toast is a healthy but fun way to add to the celebration.

For Mother’s Day, we usually just do a simple craft or gift for the Moms and send them home. This Mother’s Day butterfly kisses card is just one idea. And Father’s Day gifts that kids can make as well.

Check out this Mother’s day printable questionnaire you can use too! Download and print it for free today!

Mothers Day Printable QuestionnaireDownload

Halloween is not one of my favorite holidays in daycare. I don’t like scary stuff, but I try to be fun for the kids. So we usually have a party like our Valentine’s Day party. The kids bring snacks to share, we do a craft, a game, and whatever I come up with that year. It’s usually centered around pumpkins.

And don’t forget dad with this fun Father’s day scavenger hunt and this cool father’s day card free printable.

We do pumpkin activities during the party and do the pumpkin theme two weeks before. We will also usually find a way to decorate pumpkins without cutting them. And don’t forget this printable pumpkin lapbook activity! You can even make these easy Halloween costumes from stuff you already have around the house!

Check out these really fun paper dolls you can dress in Halloween costumes. Also, if you have a loved one with autism, you can print out these teal pumpkin Halloween signs.

And then Christmas and Thanksgiving were already mentioned above. Parties can get out of hand with kids’ behavior, so if you hate doing parties, by all means, don’t do them. I enjoy the kids’ excitement. And don’t forget these fun Thanksgiving lacing cards for a cool fine motor activity!

For printable pom pom learning mats for Christmas and winter, check these out.

We don’t celebrate President’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Columbus Day, and the like because I don’t feel like 2-4-year-olds can understand those concepts yet. I do try to teach the kids kindness, problem-solving, and grace year round and I feel like that covers a lot of the things we observe these holidays for.

If you like to celebrate those, that’s great too! You go right ahead and do what’s developmentally appropriate for your group and what you enjoy doing.

Celebrations in daycare

All of the kids are included in all the celebrations we have. If a parent mentions something they don’t like, we can make changes. The kids are little and they just like having fun. There is significance to each holiday, but my kids are very young to understand most of that, so we just keep it light. Definitely work with your parents to ensure each family is represented as they want to be.

There are lots of ways to find meaning in celebrating holidays without spending money. I am cheap, and I am poor, so I am very creative about how I come up with ideas of things to do with the kids. I like to see what I have on hand and make up my curriculum, activities, and celebrations about that. Kind of like an episode of Chopped, but not cooking. These great shark milk carton catcher games are a great example.

what can and cannot be done on September 21, on the twelfth holiday – Teacher’s newspaper

one of the twelve feasts is the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, the mother of Jesus Christ. The holiday has been celebrated since the second half of the 5th century, many traditions have survived to this day .

Church writings have preserved the history of the holiday, which is considered one of the main (twelfth) in Orthodoxy. It began in the city of Nazareth in the family of Joachim and Anna.

History of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos

Joachim and Anna were considered pious people who led a righteous life, devoting all their time to work and prayer. Family happiness was overshadowed by the fact that they had no children. The couple almost despaired of having offspring, but one day an angel came to them.

It happened under sad circumstances. One day Joachim went to church to bring gifts to God. But the high priest did not allow him to do this, saying that he did not bring offspring to Israel. Joachim went into the desert, where he began to pray to God.

And then an angel appeared to him. He brought the good news, informing the spouses that soon a daughter would be born in their family, who would be known and loved by the whole world. And so it happened. In due time, Anna gave birth to a daughter, who was named Mary. The parents swore that when the girl grows up, they will bring her to the temple, where she will serve until she comes of age.

The feast dedicated to the birth of the Most Holy Theotokos was called in Russia “The Little Immaculate One”. Its full name is the Nativity of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

The Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos coincides with Oseniny. This is the name of the holiday, which has been celebrated by the Eastern Slavs since time immemorial. It was dedicated to many events, the main of which is the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos and Mother Earth. The event has been celebrated since the 5th century, its second half. At this time, celebrations were held in cities and villages, marking the completion of field work and dedicated to the new harvest.

Traditions of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Blessed Virgin Mary is considered the patroness of all women living on earth. It helps to preserve the family hearth, raise pious children who respect their parents. Women turn to her with requests for help in conceiving and giving birth to children, they ask her to contribute to the well-being of the family. Unmarried girls who are desperate to get married pray for suitors.

On the day of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, there are many people in churches. Even those who rarely attend church come here on September 21 (September 8, old style), because this holiday is special, the twelfth. After prayers in the old days, they went home, not forgetting to distribute alms to those in need. To refuse requests to people who find themselves in a difficult situation is a great sin.

What can be done on the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos

It has long been believed that marriage unions sealed on the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos will be happy. They will pass without quarrels and upheavals, children born from parents who got married on a bright holiday will grow up smart and beautiful. They will honor their elders, work for the benefit of their families and their native land.

According to the traditions that developed several thousand years ago, the bright feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos was celebrated by the reservoirs. Women washed themselves with water, which on this day has extraordinary properties. It helps to preserve youth and beauty, cure diseases, bring peace and tranquility to the soul.

What not to do on the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos

The Most Holy Theotokos was a great worker, she helped people who did not shy away from any kind of work. But on a holiday it is necessary to pay tribute to the memory of the Mother of God, so our ancestors worked less than usual. This did not apply to people who, by virtue of duty, had to work.

But there are prohibitions that must be strictly observed. On the day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary :

  • Consume alcoholic beverages that bring nothing good but grief and misfortune. Violators of the ban can be comprehended by disease and poverty.
  • Swearing, swearing. This was never welcomed by Orthodox people on other days either. And on the day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is considered a serious sin. Swear words can bring disaster to their homes and families.
  • Needlework, sewing, repairing shoes and clothes. Everything that can be done will quickly fall into disrepair.
  • Serve meat dishes on the festive table. At this time, it is allowed to eat fish, mushrooms, vegetables and fruits.

On the day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, it is not customary to pick up sharp objects. Bread at this time is not cut, but broken. A loaf baked on the eve of the holiday is supposed to be eaten by family members. Bread crumbs are carefully collected from the table. But they do not throw it away, but give it to birds or animals.

Nativity of the Blessed Virgin: folk signs

Signs of the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin are connected with the weather. Looking at the “naked” trees left without leaves, our ancestors understood that the winter would be frosty, and would come very soon. If the weather at that time was clear, autumn will be just as cloudless and certainly warm.

On September 21, the name day is celebrated by men who were named George or Ivan at birth. A distinctive feature of these people is the ability to grasp everything on the fly. They look into the past without fear, quickly forget insults, and do not harbor evil.

Earlier, Uchitelskaya Gazeta, an online publication, told about what not to do on September 20, on Lukov Day. She reported on the celebration of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos, as well as the Transfiguration of the Lord. People call this event the Apple Savior. A special section of UG.RU “Folk Calendar” is dedicated to ancient Russian traditions, customs, and holidays.
