Bendable

What is Bendable?

Bendable is a robust learning marketplace. It allows residents of all ages and backgrounds to easily discover content that is just right for them on a wide variety of subjects and then acquire new knowledge and skills through online courses as well as local, in-person learning opportunities.

Bendable Maine will launch in summer 2022. The vast majority of the learning made available through the system will be free to residents of the state. (When there is a cost to the user, it will be clearly indicated.)

Best of all, the system is being shaped by Mainers for Mainers. Hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals across the state are participating in workshops and other activities to help with design, content curation and promotion.

Who is behind Bendable?

Bendable is an offering of the Maine State Library and the Drucker Institute, a nonprofit social enterprise based at Claremont Graduate University.

Is this another workforce development initiative?

Having people learn new skills so that they can improve their job prospects and advance in their careers is extremely important, and many of the resources on Bendable Maine will be work-related. Indeed, we are collaborating with major employers, labor leaders, workforce development officials and others to ensure that we provide learning opportunities that are truly relevant and in accord with Maine’s 10-year Economic Development Strategy.

But we also know from our research that people are eager to learn for different reasons throughout their life—sometimes even throughout their day. As a result, Bendable Maine will include resources on a wide variety of topics, including cooking healthier meals, handling personal finances, fixing things around the house and understanding technology. Users will also be able to tap Bendable to study science, literature, music, art and a host of other subjects.

By offering this kind of breadth, we believe that Bendable Maine can achieve its central mission: cultivating in people the habit of continuous learning, so as to make them more resilient in the face of a fast-changing economy and improve their overall sense of well-being.

I still don’t get it. Why do we need Bendable? When I want to learn something, I just go to Google to find what I need or take a class from Coursera or LinkedIn Learning or some other online education platform.

The Bendable lifelong learning system offers several distinct advantages from what’s available elsewhere:

  • It is an abundant marketplace, offering dozens of choices of content providers. This gives everyone—no matter their level of formal education—the best chance to find the learning that suits their needs and interests, including the way they like to learn (through text or video, bite-size lessons or longer sessions, online or in-person, etc., etc.).
  • While it is abundant, the system is also highly tailored. All of the content is being curated by the Maine State Library, so you can be sure that it is of the highest quality and meant for Maine. You can trust it.
  • The system’s content catalog blends national online courses with local learning opportunities from across the state.
  • Most of the content will be free to state residents, including through pre-paid course seats that lead to industry-approved certifications. You can’t get that by surfing the web.
  • While the system includes a great digital platform, it also is a hub of place-based learning, featuring community-based, in-person study sessions, learning meet-ups and other face-to-face activities.

Learning is social, and people want to learn with each other and from each other. Bendable Maine recognizes and leans into that.

OK, I’m starting to get it now. But how will all of that local learning content get put into the system and kept up to date? That sounds like a lot of work!

The Maine State Library and the Drucker Institute are committed to building out a statewide volunteer network that can keep local learning opportunities up to date.

We’ll also be working with local libraries to make sure that a wide range of community stakeholders—employers, nonprofits, schools and colleges, government agencies and others—are contributing to the system and drawing on its benefits.

What kind of technology is needed to access the Bendable Maine digital platform?

Bendable is a web application that can be accessed by any user with any modern web browser on a desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smart mobile device.

We are committed to making Bendable usable and accessible to the widest possible audience, and we provide features that support accessibility. For example, web pages on the Bendable platform are intended to be compatible with screen readers and accessible to keyboard navigation.

We also comply with federal accessibility standards.

Beyond that, our goal is for Bendable to offer a delightful and inviting experience for all, regardless of technology or ability. We leverage Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles in our design process and consistently include learners with a range of abilities and different levels of digital confidence in our co-design sessions and user testing with the community.

Is Bendable private and secure?

For those who come to the Bendable platform and don’t sign up for an account, no personal information is collected. For those who do sign up for an account, Bendable collects limited personally identifiable information (PII)—specifically, name and emailaddress. Account holders may also choose to provide Bendable with additional profile information, such as ZIP code, library card number and mobile phone number, to help maximize their experience on the platform.

Bendable will never share PII without consent, and we will never rent or sell PII to anyone. We may share aggregate information about our user base with our partners, and we may publish these aggregate usage statistics.

Bendable facilitates accessing learning content from third-party providers that have been vetted and approved by Bendable and the Maine State Library. Some of these third-party providers ask users for additional information when registering for a course. Users should review each third- party provider’s privacy policy to determine if they are comfortable with it.

Can young children use Bendable?

The Bendable Platform is not intended to be used by young children alone.

You must be 14 years of age or older to create an account on the Bendable platform. In accordance with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, Bendable will never knowingly solicit, nor accept, personally identifiable information from Bendable users known to be under 14 years of age.

That said, Bendable is meant for all ages. We encourage parents, guardians and teachers to share learning content found on Bendable with younger children, as appropriate.

Maine is a big, diverse place. How can you make this work for everyone?

This is our central design challenge—and, by working with stakeholders across the state, we are committed to cracking it: How can Bendable reflect the cohesive identity that many Mainers proudly share while addressing the specific needs of every distinct region and local community?

A big part of the way that we are solving for this is by working closely with local public libraries across Maine; nobody knows their communities better. We also have four Bendable Fellows on the ground across the state. Their job is to listen to, and collaborate with, all stakeholders, ensuring that local learning needs are being met and everyone has a seat at the table.

My community already has a network of great community-based organizations. Is Bendable trying to elbow them out of the way?

Just the opposite! We want community-based organizations, including local libraries, to leverage Bendable so that they can better meet their own missions and take care of those they serve.

In South Bend, Indiana, where Bendable was first launched in June 2020, this model is playing out right now. Major local employers, like Beacon Health, are using Bendable as a learning-and-development platform for their employees. Goodwill case managers are sending their clients to Bendable to learn new skills and help them make the transition from prison back into the community. Public school teachers are directing their students to Bendable as part of their lesson planning. A youth jobs initiative is weaving Bendable-based resources on goal setting and career exploration into the program. The St. Joseph County Public Library is integrating Bendable into a good portion of its activities and events. And much, much more.

We have no doubt that, once it’s launched, Bendable Maine will similarly help to enhance the great work that is already happening in communities throughout the state.

OK, I’m sold on Bendable Maine! How do I get involved?

If you represent an employer, nonprofit, government agency or other stakeholder, or you’re an individual resident, just go to bendable.com, click on the tab for Maine and sign up at the top of the page.

If you’re a public librarian, please reach out to Janet McKenney at the Maine State Library at [email protected].

Or simply contact a Bendable Fellow in your area: Northern Maine—Christina Kane Gibson at [email protected]; Central Maine—Kate Hunter at [email protected]; Southern Maine and Downeast—Paul Salway at [email protected] or Landis Hackett at [email protected].

Simulating ropes, wires, and other bendable objects

Overview

Wire simulations are useful for simulating anything long and flexible, for example grass, fur, or even scaffolding. When wire objects are used with constraints, they can be used to simulate things such as ropes swinging, bungee jumping cords springing, or a tail of a kite, as well as for effects like a structure of collapsing girders.

{Pic}

Houdini’s wire solver is quite fast. It’s often worth trying to find ways to use the wire solver to achieve effects involving bending or springy objects, because it’s so fast.

How to

To… Do this

Create a field of curves to use as wires

Creating a field of wires is really just creating a field of curves at the geometry (SOP) level and then importing that geometry into a dynamics network with the Wire Object node.

One way to create a field of curves at the SOP level is:

  1. Use the Grid tool on Create shelf tab to create a plane and size it to the scale you want for your field.

  2. Turn on the display of points in the viewer using the toolbar on the right side of the viewer.

  3. You can just use the points of the grid as the locations for the curves if you want ordered rows and columns of curves, or you can scatter an arbitrary number of points across the grid.

    • If you want ordered rows and columns of curves, use the Rows and Columns parameters on the Grid node to set them up.

    • To scatter points across the grid, use the Scatter tool on the Model shelf tab with the grid object selected, and set the Number of points parameter to the number of curves you want in your field.

  4. Draw a curve starting at the bottom (that is, at the point you want to touch the field plane).

  5. Use the Copy to points tool on the Modify shelf tab to copy the curve onto the points.

  6. Use the Wire Object tool on the Wires shelf tab to turn the curve field into simulated wires.

{Pic}

Convert an object to wires

  1. Select the object containing the curves you want to use as wires.

  2. On the Wires tab, click the Wire object tool.

See configuring wires below.

Constrain wire points

The tools on the Wires shelf tab let you set up constraints on the positions of wire points.

To pin to a position in space, use the Wire Pin Constraint or Wire Spring Constraint.

Pin wires to a simulated object

  1. Set up the wire object and the “goal” dynamic object (such as an RBD object) you want to attach the wires to.

  2. On the Wire shelf tab, click Attach Wire to Surface.

  3. Click any of the wires in the wire object, or select the Wire Object node in the network editor, then press Enter.

  4. Select the points in the wire object you want to pin (usually the last point at the root of each wire, next to the surface), then press Enter.

  5. Press Enter to finish the tool.

(see the helpfor Attach Wire to Surface for more on how to use the tool).

Pin wires to a surface

You can pin wire points to their positions in the source geometry with the pintoanimation or gluetoanimation point attribute. (pintoanimation locks the point’s position, while gluetoanimation locks the point’s position and normal.)

In the wire source geometry network, create a group containing the root points, and use the AttribCreate node to create the attribute. Use the following settings:

Group

The name of the group containing the root points, such as roots.

Deform geometry based on a dynamics wire

You can use a curve being controlled by a wire simulation to drive the deformation of a model. For example, you can model a snake and control it with a dynamics wire.

Deforming geometry based on a dynamics wire is basically the same problem as deforming geometry based on a curve. Create a control curve to represent the object you want to deform, and make it a simulated wire using the shelf tools. Add any constraints and forces you want to the simulated wire.

Then, create the Wire Capture surface node to capture the geometry you want to deform to the wire geometry. In the Wire Capture node’s parameters, click the Capture tab and set the Min/Max weight to 1 and 1. Connect the original curve to the Wire Deform node’s second (rest) input and the DOP Import node (automatically created by the shelf tools to import the simulated wire’s motion back onto the curve geometry) to the Wire Deform node’s third (deformed) input.

Wire network

TBD.

Configuring wires

  • Click the Physical tab to set the physical properties of the wire. The density and width affect the overall mass of the wire. The width also affects collisions. You can also set these (as well as per-point mass) through attributes on the source geometry.

  • The Linear spring constant is the wire’s resistance to stretching. Decrease this value to make the wire more stretchy.

  • The Angular spring constant is the wire’s resistance to bending. Decrease this value to make the wire looser, or increase it to make the wire more stiff.

  • To get a completely loose wire (like a rope or string), set Angular spring constant to 0. However, when Angular spring constant is 0, you must add an Angular damping constant (such as 0.001). If both Angular spring constant and Angular damping constant are 0, the wire can go crazy.

  • To simulate “fat” wires, change the Width on the Wire Object node’s Physical tab. This affects the mass of the wires (it is multiplied by the Density) as well as collisions with other objects. You can visualize the width of the wires by turning on Width on the Wire Object’s Visualization tab. This displays the wires as tubes in the viewport.

  • To set physical properties per-point, use point attributes on the source geometry (see below).

  • To have the wires in a wire object collide with themselves and each other, turn on Self collisions on the Wire Object’s Collisions tab. This will slow down the simulation but not by much. If you still find fast moving wires are interpenetrating, turn up the Minimum Substeps parameter on the Wire Solver DOP.

Useful point attributes

You can override or scale (depending on the attribute) the default properties set up by the Wire Object node using point attributes on the wires. See the Wire Object help for a list of attributes used by wires.

The wire solver uses the values of the attributes if they are present on the wire geometry, otherwise it uses the defaults defined by the parameters of the Wire Object node.

pintoanimation

Setting this to 1 on a point will prevent the wire solver from affecting the point’s position, meaning it will use its position any any animation from the source geometry.

This is very useful to anchor root points on an object, and have them follow the object’s animation.

gluetoanimation

Like pintoanimation, but in addition to position it uses the point’s normal in the source geometry to orient the wire.

The wire solver automatically keeps the point position and the v (velocity) point attribute, angvel (angular velocity) attribute, and orient (orientation quaternion) attribute up to date.

Example: toppling scaffolding

  1. Build your scaffolding using curves or lines.

  2. Convert your curves or lines to wire objects using the Wire Object tool on the Wires tab of the shelf.

  3. Use either a Wire Pin Constraint or a Wire Spring Constraint to constrain the points of the pieces of scaffolding together.

  4. If you used a wire pin constraint, keyframe when the constraint should break by changing the Activation to 0.

If you used a wire spring constraint, you can either keyframe when the constraint should break by changing the Activation to 0 or set a Maximum Force or Maximum Length on the Spring tab of the parameter editor. Once the spring reaches the maximum force or length the constraint will break.

    Note

Using a Wire Spring Constraint will allow you to set a Maximum Force or Maximum Length on the Spring tab in the parameter editor to indicate when the constraint should break. However, the Wire Pin Constraint does not have these parameters.

  5. Create a Rigid Body Object that will bump into the scaffolding.

  6. Apply Gravity to the objects in your scene to make them look as if they are falling naturally.

Can light bend around corners?

Category: Physics      Published: February 7, 2014

Light waves indeed bend around corners because of diffraction, as shown in this illustration. Public Domain Image, source: Christopher S. Baird.

Yes, light can bend around corners. In fact, light always bends around corners to some extent. This is a basic property of light and all other waves. The amount of light that bends around a corner depends on the exact situation. For visible light on the human scale, the amount of light that bends around corners is often too small to notice unless you know how to look for it. The ability of light to bend around corners is also known as “diffraction”. There are two mechanisms that cause light to bend around corners.

1. Internal Diffraction.

Light is a lot more complex than many people realize. The ray picture of light, which describes light as a bunch of arrows traveling in straight lines and bouncing off objects, is an understandable and even useful picture, but it is greatly over-simplified. In reality, light is a quantized waving of the electromagnetic field. Light is always waving against itself, leading to internal interference of the different wave components in what we call internal diffraction. This diffraction causes a beam of light to slowly spread out as it travels, so that some of the light bends away from the straight line motion of the main part of the wave. Even seemingly perfect laser beams spread out as they travel because of internal diffraction. This turning away of some of the light from the forward direction is a form of “bending around corners” even when a corner may not exist. The tendency of beams to spread out via diffraction makes it so that a light beam can never be focused to a perfect point, and, in consequence, light microscopes cannot perform infinite magnification. Many textbooks imply that all diffraction is caused by light interacting with an object. This is not strictly true. A finite beam of light traveling through free space where no objects are present will still spread out because of internal diffraction. Other names for simple internal diffraction are “beam spreading” or “beam divergence”. Note that when a system involves creating multiple beams, diffraction can lead to beautiful patterns of rings or stars, but the basic mechanism is still the same: light interferes with itself.

In general, a light beam spreads out more (turns the corner more) if the beam has a narrow beam width compared to its wavelength. Light can therefore be made to spread out more by reducing the beam width or by increasing the wavelength of the light. The wavelength of visible light is so small that you have to use very narrow beams of visible light in order to notice its diffraction. Such narrow beams are typically obtained by running light through a very narrow slit. For large-wavelength light such as radio waves, the bending of the wave around human-scale objects is much stronger. Note that the light from a flashlight spreads out not because of diffraction. It spreads out because the mirror in a flashlight is specifically designed to bounce light in different directions. Also, note that the fuzziness of shadows in everyday life is not caused by diffraction, but is instead caused by the fact that an extended light source creates many, slightly-offset, shadows of the object which blur together.

2. Interaction with Objects

Light can also interact with objects in such a way that its ability to bend around corners is enhanced. Light passing through a simple slit and diffracting could be described as light interacting with an object, but such a situation is more a case of internal diffraction. The slit simply creates a narrow beam and then does nothing more, so that the diffraction in such a case results internally from a narrow beam interfering with itself. In contrast, there are cases where the interaction of light with an object does more to the light than just change its beam width. If light hits an object made out of conducting material (such as metal), the electromagnetic fields in the light exert a force on and accelerate the free charges in the conductor, thereby inducing electric currents in the surface of the conducting object. These oscillating electric currents create more light, and this light induces more currents. The end result is that part of the light that hits an electrically conductive material couples to the surface of the object and travels as a surface wave. Light can therefore bend around the corner of an object by riding the curved surface of the object. For a smooth surface, the light can travel along the surface for a relatively long distance. However, roughness, irregularities, cracks, bumps, and seams on the object’s surface interrupt the coupling between light and the electric currents in the surface, so that the surface waves tends to scatter off into space at such obstacles instead of continuing to ride the surface. In optics, light waves riding the surface of a conductive object are called “surface plasmons”. In radar, such waves are called “creeping waves” or simply “surface waves”. In radar images, this creeping wave effect can lead to physically important ghost images or echo images of the object, because it takes longer for the creeping wave to return to the receiver than the main reflected wave.

How the smartphone display is bent. BOE showed it in video

BOE showed a video thanks to which users, perhaps for the first time, will be able to see how the display of the smartphone of the future will bend. Smartphones with foldable touchscreens may become one of the hottest trends in the very near future. The new devices, capable of replacing both smart phone and tablet, will give the user the long-awaited choice between a large screen and a compact phone form factor. And the user himself will determine in what capacity it is convenient for him to use the device right now. CES 2019has not yet begun, and the public has already begun to show truly amazing things.

Foldable smartphones are finally becoming a reality after years of rumors and speculation. But it may take years before the new form factor becomes widespread, because the newest technologies are usually the most expensive and, therefore, for a very long time they remain rather interesting innovations, which are pleasant to read about in the Telegram news channel and on the website . Victor (Victor) on the pages of the resource gsmarena.com reviewed the magnificent bendable display of smartphones of the future, shown by BOE. In any case, readers are pleased to know that the new form factor of mobile devices will make its debut in Android smartphones.

Users are very interested to see how the flexible display panel behaves in reality and whether the display looks like a regular flat panel when folded. Thus, the BOE video provided a glimpse into the future of mobile devices.

The prototype AMOLED panel in question is a 7.65-inch WQHD (2048 x 1536 pixels) panel. Among its key characteristics: brightness – 380 nits, response time – 1 millisecond. The color gamut is 118% of the NTSC scale. However, in the characteristics of the display itself, there is nothing that OLED panels did not please before.

The most interesting feature of the novelty is the place of the fold. BOE notes that the technology in question is characterized by the smallest bend radius in the world – only 1 millimeter. After all, the smaller the bend radius, the more aesthetically pleasing the device will look.

BOE also emphasized the robustness of its new development. According to the company, it is able to withstand 100,000 bends. At first glance, this figure seems modest, but, in fact, it is even more than most modern mobile devices may need for the entire life cycle.

Longrids for you

What will happen when Android will reach the bastard There was a time when Google followed the practice of giving all its versions of the Android operating system nice tasty names. Moreover, this concerned both the internal name of the system and the name under which it entered the market. That is, the one under which she became known and which was used in marketing. But in 2019year, during the announcement of Android 10, everything changed. Google has announced that it is done with the practice of giving dessert names to new versions of the green robot. At that time, many did not understand why such a sweet tradition should stop, but the company had its own plans for this.

In Russia they made their own alternative to Android based on Linux

Despite the fact that Google has long sharpened its skis from Russia, and YouTube is predicted to be blocked this fall, Android does not seem to be going anywhere. The only time when they started talking about a possible shutdown of the operating system on users’ smartphones was recorded back in 2020. Then Google tried to convey to the Russian authorities that it could turn off Android in the Russian Federation if they start slowing down or even blocking YouTube here. Much has changed since then, but the threat of Android shutdown has not gone unnoticed.

From phablets to foldable screens. How Samsung revolutionized the smartphone industry

A time-tested idea

In the early 1910s, Samsung defined what smartphones would be like in the next decade. In 2011, the South Korean company released its first Galaxy Note phablet. The Android device differed from the rest by its huge display diagonal at that time. It is now a 5.3-inch screen is perceived as small, but then the “monster” smartphone captured the imagination of users.

Critics doubted the success of the huge screen phone, but users voted for the innovation with their money: the novelty sold 10 million copies. Therefore, the output of the following devices with an even larger diagonal was not in question.

At that moment, top managers of Samsung were finally convinced that smartphones with large screens were the future. But the engineers faced a difficult task: how to make a device with a huge display, but at the same time compact? The only option is to create a foldable gadget that can be easily put into a pocket, and then, if necessary, take it out and unfold it.

Work on the foldable phablet began almost immediately. In 2011, the engineers’ laboratory already had prototypes of future devices. However, there were still eight years left before they were finalized and officially launched on the market.

From concept to hit

Samsung’s first consumer foldable smartphone hit the market in 2019, but it was first heard about a year earlier. On November 8, at the annual Developers Conference, the company showed off a prototype of the future hit – an unnamed device that demonstrated Infinity Flex Display technology.

They didn’t go into technical details on the stage: they just showed at the presentation that the gadget could fold in half. At the same time, the prototype was fully operational: Samsung representatives showed its capabilities right from the stage. Then they said that a smartphone with a flexible screen would be ready for mass production within a few months. The Koreans kept their promise and released a device called Galaxy Fold already in February 2019.

The novelty, like the previously shown concept, had two screens. The large 7.3-inch one was inside when folded, and the outer one with a diagonal of 4.6 inches remained outside. The latter was needed so that the user could view notifications, answer calls and perform various simple tasks without having to open the phone. But the main attention, of course, was riveted to the folding display. Dynamic AMOLED-matrix, resolution 2152 × 1536 (QXGA +). The camera was hidden in a cutout in the right corner of the display.

The first reviews of bloggers and journalists were so enthusiastic (they say that the future has finally come) that they were eager to personally feel the futuristic device as soon as possible. After receiving non-commercial samples before the start of sales, some journalists removed the protective film from the phones, which was part of the flexible screen design. Because of this, the device failed. However, these were isolated cases – in the editorial office of Hi-Tech.Mail.ru, we also tested the Galaxy Fold, but it never occurred to anyone to remove the film from its screen.

Manufacturers could simply warn prospective buyers not to remove the film. But Samsung found the only right solution: the company postponed the release of the device for several months in order to refine the device to the ideal. So, the engineers removed the edges of the film under the case, and at the same time strengthened the display by placing metal plates under the matrix – the screen became stronger and more reliable. In addition, manufacturers have reinforced the hinge with plastic plugs so that dust does not get inside and scratch the display.

The folding technology was so new to many that skeptics could not believe that the phone could withstand a lot of folding and unfolding. But manufacturers immediately showed the test results: a new device can be bent 200,000 times on average, which is equivalent to five years of active use.

Clamshell with new mechanisms

The second Samsung foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip, was released in February 2020, the announcement took place 12 months after the premiere of the first. There have been major changes here since the Galaxy Fold. Now the clamshell has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with HDR 10+ support, and on the outside there is a small 1.1-inch screen that displays the time, date, battery status and notifications. The device does not unfold horizontally, but vertically. It can be fixed at different angles by integrating the cam mechanism into the hinge.

Z Flip, unlike its predecessor, received a folding display made of ultra-thin glass with a thickness of 30 microns (0.03 mm). This solution increased the flexibility of the screen and reduced the crease at the fold point. And although it was still covered with a protective film on top, the technology of flexible screens has clearly advanced in such a short time.

Owners of the Galaxy Z Flip appreciated the device for its laconic design and the ability to unfold into a full-size smartphone in the blink of an eye. One of the features that especially hooked users is the unusual Flex camera mode. This feature allows you to take a selfie without hands: a person just needs to fix the phone on a flat surface and use the voice to activate the shutter button. Another option is to show your palm to the camera, and in a couple of seconds the device will automatically take a picture or start recording video. In general, you can create cool content with Z Flip even from the most unexpected angles. In addition, it is convenient to open several applications at once on the big screen: you can chat with friends in the messenger, and at the same time upload the resulting photos to your Instagram.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip smartphone production

New generation

screen. The novelty has become better in everything: starting with the quality of both screens and ending with more up-to-date hardware. The external display has grown noticeably (6.2 inches), now it occupies almost the entire front panel. Manufacturers also raised its resolution to 2260×816 pixels, making it much more comfortable to use.

The internal foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen is also slightly larger, sharper and faster (7.6 inches, 2213×1689, 120Hz). As in the case of the Z Flip clamshell, ultra-thin UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) glass was used here: its thickness is less than that of a human hair.

The design has also changed, and also for the better. Samsung’s most sophisticated smartphone uses a dual (two-cam) mechanism and twice as many elastic components. So, only one hinge consists of 60 parts. Compared to the previous Fold, where the mechanism was fixed only at the extreme points, in the new Z Fold2 it is fixed at an angle convenient for the user!

There must be a small gap between the hinge and the body of the phone so that all internal components can move. And if dust and other debris gets into it, the phone will not last long. Engineers understood this, so they had to rack their brains to solve the problem.

Just think about it: the company managed to try out as many as 108 prototype mechanisms before finding the perfect one. It is curious that the creation of the most successful version of the engineers was inspired by the technology of a vacuum cleaner, the brushes of which are made of carbon and nylon fibers and can turn at a speed of 20 revolutions per second for two years. In a phone, this works like this: every time the user folds and unfolds the phone, the brushes inside the hinge rotate and clear the gap between the hinge and the body.

Foldable innovation in practice

Users themselves speak about how successful the foldable smartphone form factor has been. According to surveys, 96 percent of Galaxy Z Fold2 owners are satisfied with their smartphone, and 9 out of 10 say they are ready to buy a foldable gadget again. Interest in bending screens is expressed even by those who have never bought devices with this technology. For example, half of the Americans surveyed said they would like to buy a foldable phone in the future.

Such high ratings are explained by the fact that foldable devices open up new opportunities for their owners. The most obvious example is watching movies and YouTube videos on the big screen. If earlier it was necessary to purchase a separate tablet for this, now it is more convenient to consume content on a phone, which can be easily unfolded and folded back if necessary.

The second point concerns multitasking. Opening multiple windows is much more convenient on a larger screen. You can place a browser on the left, and a note window on the right, and interact with both applications at the same time (and this is just one of dozens of options). A huge number of programs have already been adapted to innovative screens, so using them is extremely comfortable.

Foldable devices ideal for video calls. The design of Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold2 smartphones allows them to stand on the surface at an angle of 75 to 115 degrees. Reading e-books, working with mail, playing mobile puzzles – all this is extremely convenient to do on such a screen. And do not forget that foldable smartphones cause a wow effect with their appearance alone. Samsung devices with foldable screens are a premium thing that you want to take out of your pocket at any convenient opportunity.

By leaps and bounds

Samsung’s foldable smartphones show how fast technology is evolving today. In just a few years, a whole segment of devices with foldable screens has appeared on the market, which are of high quality, strong and durable. They are an alternative to the usual smartphone, and not an addition to the main one.

You can dive into the world of the future today. There are promotions on the official Samsung website, thanks to which it will be possible to profitably purchase foldable smartphones. Moreover, becoming the owner of an innovative device is now even easier – with the help of trade-in or Samsung Upgrade programs. Visit the company’s website, see special offers and choose your favorite device!

why the Samsung Galaxy Fold was a failure A good tablet in the form factor of a smartphone! And for such a high price ($1980 in the US) you would expect excellent quality. For example, Samsung reported that the flexion-extension mechanism has been tested for 200,000 iterations. Buyers in the United States, especially non-poor tech geeks, were ready to accept the novelty with might and main.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. A couple of weeks before the release of goods to customers, several dozen publications and popular American bloggers received a device for review. Three of them at once – Michael Fisher, Blick and TheVerge – reported a few days later that their smartphone was broken.

The company had to recall all the devices, and refuse to release them in China, which was supposed to take place in just a couple of days. Some are already comparing the fiasco to the Galaxy Note 7, whose batteries began to explode due to squeezing the battery. Billions of dollars spent by the company on the development of the device may be flushed down the toilet.

The other day iFixit published its detailed analysis of the device, and the problems turned out to be quite funny (and sad). By inserting the most anticipated and hype new technology in the last few years into its device, the company has managed to forget a few fundamental rules of smartphone construction.

What’s the problem?

After a few days of use, several Galaxy Fold reviewers (who handled the device as carefully as possible) developed a small bump in the center of the screen, on the fold. Quite small, but quite noticeable with a finger, and noticeably distorting this area of the screen when the smartphone is turned on. Someone tried to “push” this thickening back without much effort, but it did not give in: something propped it up from below. Some have suggested that this is a broken bending mechanism – the one that should have worked out 200,000 iterations.

It would be possible to forgive a small bump on the display of such an innovative device, if not for one “but”. It is located in the most actively used place. And if you continue to close and open the smartphone, it constantly rests against the screen, which over time, after a few days, inevitably leads to breakdowns.

Many other journalists and bloggers had an even more serious problem: the screen just broke! Bloomberg, Steve Kovach, Marques Brownlee posted photos and videos with their smartphones, in which part of the display was black or showed ripples. To work with such a device, in fact, it became impossible.

Where?

Now, thanks to a detailed disassembly of the device from iFixit, the reasons begin to clear up. For example, it becomes clear that reviewers thought in vain about the hinge that allows the screen to bend. It is strong, made very well, and did not break. The problem was that the smallest particles of dust or debris accumulated in the gap under the mechanism, gradually moving into the space under the screen during its operation.

That is to say, Samsung has made every effort to ensure that its fold device works as it should. But I forgot to put a plug on the bottom of the Galaxy Fold so that dust does not get inside it! At the bottom of the fold at the device is just a small hole. And since an OLED screen is extremely delicate, especially if it’s not protected by something like Gorilla Glass, even this little thing was enough.

If the company had covered the hole with at least some flexible plastic for a penny, the problems with the sudden bump might have been avoided. Gaps are also present at the back, also along the opening-closing mechanism. Right behind them is just enough empty space for the fine dirt to sit comfortably, waiting for their chance. No wonder the device does not even have an IP rating for dust protection.

The folding device itself, according to iFixit, looks very durable, and the declared 200,000 operations performed by the Samsung machine can probably withstand, that is, the company did not deceive anyone. But now it becomes clear that 200,000 iterations is mechanism . The smartphone itself has not been bent so many times, otherwise some of the problems would have to appear. Plus, it looks like the Samsung machine that tested the display put an even load on all parts of the screen, rather than running like a normal user. That is, the company’s tests did not correspond to real operating conditions.

Why didn’t you find problems with clogged dirt? This is probably due to the overly sterile environment in which the phone samples were tested at the factory. According to iFixit, if the user presses on the bend where the dirt got, the phone is damaged with almost 100% probability. The conclusion is simple: there was simply no fine dust and dirt around the test samples.

As for the even more serious black/scratched screen problems that Bloomberg, Marques Brownlee and others have encountered, they simply removed the protective film from the display. Much like the sticky plastic that comes with other Samsung gadgets that can be removed before use. Only in this case, it turns out, it soon completely breaks the screen, again, due to uneven pressure on it.

How could you guess? There are no warnings about this either on the boxes, or on the devices, or in the instructions, and even the reviewers who follow the world of smartphones did not know about it. Moreover: in the left corner of the screen, this film does not fit snugly, and it may seem that it needs to be removed. If Samsung wanted to ensure no one filmed it, it could hide the edges of the film under the screen, or issue a warning.

But that’s not all. There is another problem with some devices: uneven scrolling of the screen. The left side moves a little faster than the right. Apparently, the reason is that the display hardware, unlike standard smartphones, is located mainly on one side, and not on top or bottom, as in standard smartphones (this is also noticeable in the analysis of iFixit). It is difficult to see the presence of this delay effect, but then you can’t unsee it later.

We’re used to worrying about scratches on expensive gadgets or worrying about small debris that disables buttons on the keyboard of expensive MacBooks. But the bits of dust that distort the screen of the new $19 smartphone80 after one day of use is already a new level.

According to iFixit, proper testing of smartphones in conditions close to reality, as well as a description of the features of their operation, would help keep the devices in working order and avoid a wave of criticism. Now it may be too late.

It’s not really difficult to fix problems, but buyers, after devastating reviews, are unlikely to give the gadget a second chance, especially given its high cost. This could call into question the future of all smartphones with foldable displays. Galaxy Fold is now in danger of going down in history as another overly ambitious project that thought first of all about the prospects of new technology, but forgot about pragmatism.

How to choose a hiking backpack?

Hello! If you are reading this article, it means that most likely you have already been on two or three hikes, and you really liked this activity. And now you have decided to arm yourself with more professional equipment so that the upcoming trips are more comfortable and safer. And, of course, photos with your new backpack and jacket will be much more spectacular. We know how much you love being photographed. I will say that you made the right decision by starting with a backpack. Together with special hiking boots, a backpack is the most important piece of your hiking gear. People who have hiked in the wrong shoes and with the wrong pack will understand. The shoulders tighten, the spine bends and hurts, the hard things in the backpack prick the back, and the boots rub and form wounds on the heels. We’ll get back to hiking boots in a moment, but for now, let’s talk about backpacks and how to choose a backpack for your hike.

How to choose a hiking backpack?

What are backpacks?

Travel and hiking backpacks are different from everyday urban backpacks. All modern backpacks are made according to the following principle: they have a rigid back made of a plastic plate or duralumin arcs, a special suspension system, and a waist belt. The suspension system is designed in such a way that, thanks to the belt and the rigid frame that supports the back, the weight is correctly distributed throughout the body. 70-80 percent of the weight should be on the belt, as the muscles of the belt and pelvis are much stronger than the shoulder muscles. The function of the shoulder straps is to keep the backpack as close to the body as possible.

Let’s divide backpacks by size and purpose. Backpack capacity is measured in liters. However, it should be borne in mind that there are no specific measurement standards, and, depending on the company and model, backpacks with the same displacement can vary significantly in size. That is why, before choosing the right backpack, you need to study it thoroughly, check the suspension system, understand whether the size is comfortable or not? In the store, ask the sales assistant and fill the backpack with about how heavy it should be during hiking. Thus, it will be possible to adjust it to your body. Only in the filled state will the backpack take on the right look, and you will feel how comfortable it is for you. You need to adjust the backpack in the following order:

20-35 liter daypack

  1. Loosen all straps before putting the pack on your shoulders.
  2. First, adjust the waist belt so that it wraps around your waist without being too tight.
  3. Adjust the shoulder straps and fold down straps so that they lie firmly on the shoulders, without hanging back and without putting too much pressure on the shoulders, deforming the straps.
  4. Large backpacks also have a back height adjustment system. Adjust it so that the items mentioned above meet the requirements.

How to choose the right backpack size?

When choosing the size of a backpack, you need to be guided by where and for what purpose it will be used:

  • 20-35 liters – these backpacks are convenient for one-day trips. As a rule, such backpacks have a fairly simple system, made of softer materials, since nothing complicated is required from them.
  • 40-55 liters – for two or three days of short hikes and trips. If you properly assemble a backpack, it will be possible to place a small tent and a sleeping bag, several sets of change of clothes and food for two or three days, or all the necessary things for a week-long trip abroad.
  • 60-70 liters – this backpack is designed for hikes up to one week. These backpacks have a lot more requirements. Their suspension system must be stronger and their anatomy carefully designed; must have additional hanging straps and quickdraws for attaching trekking poles, ice axes, hiking mats and other things.
  • 80-100+ – these backpacks are designed for long trekking and expeditions. Schematically, they do not differ much from the previous ones. Naturally, comfort and durability are added to these backpacks. There may also be additional pockets and various details that increase convenience during use. However, it must be taken into account that the more additional details, the greater the mass of the backpack.

Hiking backpack 70L

At the initial stage, it is enough to have a backpack with a capacity of 35-40 liters. Beginners in hiking, as a rule, find it difficult to assemble a compact backpack and they always do not have enough space. However, over time, they gain experience and already skillfully place everything they need in their backpack.

Backpacks by purpose

Depending on the sport for which the backpack is intended, it may differ in its design. If you choose a backpack for summer hiking, then be careful that the back of the backpack is mesh. Thanks to this, between the back and the backpack there is a space that allows the back to breathe and not sweat. In hot, sunny weather, this is very important, although in cold and windy weather, such a backpack is not very suitable. And backpacks for mountaineering or skiing fit snugly on the back.

Mesh backpack, for summer hikes

For mountaineering, two backpacks are usually taken: a 60-70 liter backpack for basic things that will be left in the camp, and a 25-35 liter backpack for acclimatization climbs and climbing to the top. The weight of the backpack is paramount here, as in high mountain conditions the body weakens due to low atmospheric pressure, cold and constant physical activity. Any kilogram seems heavier than at the foot of the mountain. It is also very important that the backpack has hanging straps for an ice ax, trekking poles, a rug, a tent and other things.

You also need to pay attention to a few additional features that backpacks can have. For example, a special pocket for a water bag, with a hole for a straw, a waterproof rain cover, additional pockets, pockets on the waist belt, places to install a walkie-talkie or GPS navigator, and so on …

Water bag

Backpack weight also determine the weight of the backpack. There are ultra-light backpacks. For example, a 70-liter backpack that weighs a little less than a kilogram. However, this type of backpacks are made of thinner materials and do not have any additional features and pockets. As a result, strength, durability and comfort suffer.

However, an ultra-light backpack can be very comfortable during long hikes and climbs.

There are also backpacks with many functions, metal fasteners, various pockets, thick and padded shoulder straps and belt. They can be very precisely adjusted to your body, they are very comfortable, but at the same time heavy. Such a backpack can weigh 3.5-4 kg.

To begin with, it would be right not to go to extremes and just choose something in between. And over time, gaining experience, you will understand what suits and likes you personally.

Beginners are advised to pay attention to backpacks from Quechua and Equipment. Both of these brands have a fairly large selection. There are even backpacks for climbing. However, for such events, we would recommend more professional and advanced brands such as Red Fox, Deuter, Osprey, Arcteryx. Among them, Red Fox is a relatively simple and budget option, Deuter is the most technologically advanced, high-quality and comfortable, but this brand’s backpacks are heavier and more expensive.

Of course, the list of brands is not limited to this, but this information is enough to have an initial idea of how to choose a backpack for a trip and not get confused in front of a large selection in the store.

How to dress properly Flashcards | Chegg.com

What primarily determines appearance?

Proper fit.

Should the clothes be suitable for the activity/event?

Is it true that certain colors in clothes suit everyone?

Should the type of clothing correspond to the type of figure?

Is it true that a wardrobe should consist of a small number of things that fit together well?

Is it possible to wear clothes that were in fashion 10-20 years ago?

Is it possible to neglect the importance of details in clothing?

At what point do people form their first impression of you?

As soon as they see.

What impression does a stylishly dressed person make?

  • for management – more responsible and promising
  • for girls – more charismatic and attractive
  • for friends and colleagues – more successful and in demand

What is the difference between stylish and fashionable clothes?

  • stylish – the one that suits you
  • fashion clothes – following trends dictated by fashion brands

Does style change?

No, it is individual and permanent.

How do you know if jeans or pants fit well?

  • length – standing barefoot on the floor, jeans/pants touching the floor; shorter – not allowed, longer – shorten
  • should sit well even without a belt, the belt is an accessory; when buying – a little tight
  • in jeans it should be easy to sit on a chair and put your hands in your pockets
  • fit (low, medium, high) – depending on the type of figure; should emphasize the buttocks

What should be the fit of the trousers?

  • pants should be well attached to the body with a belt
  • they should taper to the bottom: wider at the base of the legs, narrower at the knees and even narrower at the feet
  • the free end of the leg ends strictly at the level of the boots when trying on new trousers?

    • Make it a habit to walk a couple of steps in your new pants while trying them on, sit down.
    • If the fabric in the crotch area is dangling, the trousers must be tightened higher.
    • If the front of the leg puckers and folds during movement, the trousers are too small.
    • Also check how freely you can put your hands in your pockets.

How to choose the fit of a T-shirt or polo?

    • T-shirts and polos have a seam on the shoulder, which should be in the middle of the shoulder and divide the shoulder in half
    • seam closer to the neck – T-shirt small
    • seam below the shoulder – T-shirt is too big
    • The ideal length of the T-shirt is when the bottom edge is 2-5 centimeters below the belt.
    • do not tuck in the shirt

    How should the shirt fit?

    • the shirt should be comfortable (bubbling – large, tight – small)
    • the seam rests against the bone of the shoulder (middle of the shoulder)
    • the two parts of the collar are fastened exactly around the throat
    • the cuffs completely cover the wrist and reach the large bones
    • bottom part 10-15 cm beyond waistline

    How should the jacket fit?

    • first of all – emphasize the shape
    • it should be comfortable and static when you move
    • one-slotted jacket is cheaper; slotless – smoother fit, but not suitable for sedentary work; a double-slotted jacket suits her
    • the far part of the lapel is at the same distance from the collar of the shirt to the end of the shoulder
    • the back part covers the top line of the buttocks

    How should the belt fit?

    • fasten on the middle hole
    • matches the shoes in color and material
    • accessories (bag, watch on a leather belt) – also

What is the White Tie dress code?

Tailcoat, straight trousers and white waistcoat.

What is the type of Black Tie dress code?

    • Black or navy suit and a silk bow tie that matches the lapel of the jacket.
    • Shoes – brand patent leather.
    • Shirt – white with French cuffs and cufflinks

What is the Black Tie Optional dress code?

    • plain dark suit with matching tie and white shirt
    • black patent leather shoes
    • no patterns

Which is the Semi-Formal or Business Dress?

    • Both jacket and trousers must be part of the suit
    • The fabric should be dark and the patterns almost invisible, while the shirt should be modestly cut and light in color
    • A tie is still needed, just like simple, conservative shoes and a matching belt

What is the Business-Casual or Dress-Casual dress code option?

    • a tie is optional, and in most cases you can come to the event without a jacket or replace it with a sweater, cardigan or any other identical wardrobe item
    • The shirt must have a starched collar and the shoes must be leather. You should also wear tailored trousers with an arrow
    • Business Casual is a fitted Italian suit with a white shirt and leather shoes

What is the Business Casual variant suitable for?

The perfect outfit for a performance, a trip to an expensive restaurant, an elite nightclub or an important meeting with partners.

What is the casual style option?

    • jeans or polo, sometimes even shorts
    • you can – top siders, moccasins or loafers
    • If you plan to visit a youth nightclub, I recommend wearing jeans or chinos, a fitted jacket with a bright T-shirt or shirt, and shoes or loafers ( if you chose a shirt) or top siders, sneakers, moccasins (if you chose a T-shirt)
    • if there is no dress code, it is better to stick to this style

    What is the color type?

This is a set of colors that come naturally to him, depending on the color of his hair, eyes, skin and contrast of complexion.

What method can be used to determine your color type?

Using the 12 color type method.

How to apply the 12 color types method (1 step)?

1 step – determine the dominant color type

    • bright (without impurities)
    • soft (grayish)
    • light (diluted with white)
    • dark (shaded with black)
    • warm (with a clear golden ocher undertone)
    • cool (with a clear bluish or blue undertone))

What is a soft color (my color type)?

    • The colors of the exterior contain a lot of gray, due to which they seem quite calm.
    • most often the hair ranges from dark blond to dark grayish brown. They contain a lot of gray pigment, often mixed with golden or reddish.
    • Eyes are often greyish: blue-gray, marsh, amber, grey-green, or softened aqua.
    • Your colors are neutral—neither warm nor cold. Medium dark or medium dark, rarely medium light

What colors go with soft colors?

Soft color types look best not in pronounced warm or cold shades, but in relatively neutral tones. They are calm, slightly grayish colors that look either too dull or too heavy on other color types. Too bright colors instantly suppress them, too dark make the face lifeless.

    What additional features are available?

    • cold or warm
    • for cold and warm color types – bright and soft shade

How to determine an additional characteristic of your color type?

    • you will need a well-lit room and a large mirror
    • some scarves, turtlenecks, pieces of fabric or sheets of paper in different colors
    • Go to the mirror and take turns putting all the things or sheets of paper to your face. Look and remember with what colors the eyes look brighter, the skin looks fresher and the image becomes whole

What is my supposed color type?

    Soft color, warm tones.

How to determine whether things should be combined or contrasted?

    • firstly, choose clothes according to your color type
    • contrasting colors attract attention, while muted combinations are much easier for the human eye to perceive
    • look for harmony – if you put on a suit of an unusual cut, choose an inconspicuous shirt
    • The larger, more noticeable the pattern on your clothes, the calmer complementary elements should be

How to choose clothes for the lighting and the season?

    • dark colors in clothes look much better against the backdrop of a winter landscape
    • delicate shades of reviving nature in spring well set off pastel outfits, while bright colors attract too much attention
    • In summer, bright colors and light fabrics look more than harmonious
    • In autumn, falling leaves perfectly emphasize the restraint of muted, natural shades, such as brown and beige

How to choose clothes for tall men (at least 185 cm)?

    • clothing that visually breaks the male body apart or stops the eye
    • Horizontal stripes on outerwear and underwear, a wide or visible belt, visible pockets on a jacket or a handkerchief in a breast pocket
    • Wear long jackets, coats and jackets, trousers and jeans with a low waist more often. Wear clothes that will contrast in colors with each other

What should not be worn by a tall man (from 185 cm)?

Forget about vertical stripes on clothes and tight ties, as they visually stretch the human body especially strongly. Short outerwear, as well as high or massive shoes, should not be worn either! Stop wearing single-breasted jackets and low-cut coats, too-short jackets and short coats.

    What visually lengthens the body?

    • Shoes with a small heel
    • Vertical stripes in clothing
    • narrow ties and upholstered jacket lapels
    • The suit almost always looks better than pants and jackets from different sets
    • in tons of pounds.

What clothes to wear with a long thin neck?

    • Avoid V-necks, tight ties, open-collared shirts and oblong pendants
    • stand-up hairstyles
    • Wear high collars, stand-up shirts, turtlenecks, wide ties, scarves and scarves

What to wear if your legs are long?

    • wear shoes in a different color than pants
    • Buy low-rise pants, wear long tops more often
    • Choose jeans with visible elements – pockets or zippers
    • Choose a belt that does not match the color of the trousers, but matches with top.

    How should I buy things?

    Sets to match.

Is it true that if you buy things separately, it is extremely difficult to combine them with each other?

What is the problem with cheap clothes?

It cheapens the image and wears out quickly.

How many sets of clothes does each man usually have?

How should wool clothes be chosen?

Wool is a classic suiting material that even the best synthetics cannot match. There are different gradations of wool density, from very thick and warm winter fabrics to the lightest woolen veils, too refined for everyday wear.
When looking for quality wool, pay attention to the softness and smoothness of the fabric, even the density can be an indicator. Make sure that there are no knots in the wool, and the fabric does not cling to everything.

    How should cotton be selected?

Cotton is the king of men’s shirts, being the lightest and most breathable material of its kind. Be careful when ironing these shirts at high temperatures, as the resulting film may dissolve. Raw, 100% cotton is the highest quality and most durable option available.

    How should I choose synthetics?

Synthetics can hide in any element of men’s clothing: mixed with cotton in shirts, with wool in suits, and even in its pure form. The characteristics of synthetic fabrics may vary, but they are much less wearable and breathable than natural fabrics.
Just remember what artificial fabric is designed for: in small quantities, it performs a specific function.

    How to choose silk clothes?

Silk is worth mentioning as a rare fabric for tailoring.
A practical (but now unpopular) use of silk is as lining for coats and jackets, usually embellished with a decorative print printed or embroidered on the fabric. In addition, excellent ties are still made from silk to this day.

How to check the quality of the cut?

The best men’s clothing should also be highly functional. Make sure that the cuffs of the jacket have buttons, the lapels of the coat fasten, and the fasteners on the pockets allow you to easily put your hands in your pockets. Check stitch quality where possible, as this is an obvious indicator of quality. If the line is noticeable where it should not be, this is a reason to think. Carefully study buttonholes, shirt collars and other places where the seams are in a prominent place and should be as accurate as possible.

Should I wear clothes that are more than 5-7 years old?

No, they are out of date.

Why is it not necessary to buy clothes in popular stores in large shopping centers?

    • it’s hard to find your size there
    • everyone wears these clothes, because everyone dresses there

    Where do you buy clothes?

Showrooms; It’s cheaper and more choice.

How should a tie be tied?

    • Men with large heads or broad faces should choose a tight, solid knot for harmony. The best choice at all times in this case is Windsor.
    • For men with a narrow face or short men, it is better to choose a thin, triangular knot.
    • Do not overtighten the tie. A small indentation just behind the knot visually raises the head, which looks good in general.

What is the point of a pocket square?

This is exactly the accessory that always makes a really well-dressed man stand out from the crowd.

How big should a pocket square be?

It should not be paired with a tie or anything else, but it should match the color scheme of your suit and should not detract from your look.

Do I need to have many accessories?

It is better to keep the number of jewelry on a man to a minimum, as such accessories often break the integrity of a well-designed image, instead drawing attention to a single point (a wedding ring is an exception).

When should you wear pendants or bracelets?

Of course, when you are planning to get into a youth nightclub, a neat pendant or bracelet is a great attractant for your look.

What should the watch look like?

    • You can wear a wrist watch (do not combine with other decorative elements). In most cases, watches are not considered jewelry at all.
    • Classic watch – for a suit. Design and youth – to the style of Casual. No need to wear large and bright.
    • There are no special rules regarding strap material, watch assembly, dial design: the simpler the watch, the more suitable it is for formal wear.

    How to choose cufflinks?

Scrupulously, because the wrong ones leave a very bad impression.

Stupid psychological complexes that you need to get rid of urgently (and how to do it)

Sometimes we are so hard on ourselves that we start doing stupid things like squeezing into Cinderella shoes to seem better. Or worry about and without. You do not need to conduct complex scientific studies of psychological complexes to see how your life is spoiled due to unnecessary experiences. Just remember: you don’t have to fit into someone else’s standards.

    complexes

Personality’s psychological complexes distort the perception of oneself and the surrounding reality.

They can poison life and make it unbearable. Complexity destroys faith in oneself, prevents one from developing (it won’t work anyway) and living a full life. Let’s figure out where the complexes come from, what types of psychological complexes there are, what you definitely shouldn’t be ashamed of, and how to deal with complexes that have already appeared.

Where do human psychological complexes come from?

The cause of internal complexes is usually a mental trauma in the past, most often in childhood. The emergence of psychological complexes in children is usually facilitated by the immediate environment, the so-called “significant adults”. Children do not have enough life experience to critically perceive the attitudes that are imposed on them: they easily believe that they are bad, inept, ugly. At the same time, parents do not necessarily broadcast such information consciously: a child can remember an accidentally thrown word, a sidelong glance, and a careless remark.

Socio-psychological complexes are born not only thanks to parents. Educators, teachers, society – everyone is actively conveying some attitudes to the little person, and it is often simply impossible to meet conflicting requirements at the same time. And if the child does not correspond to them, he automatically becomes bad, i.e. he develops a psychological inferiority complex.

Complexes are conditionally divided into physical (associated with external data) and psychological (associated with personality traits). In any case, we can talk about complexes if a person considers himself inferior, not up to some standards (often far-fetched), and worries about this.

It’s not embarrassing! Psychological complexes to say goodbye to

    Don’t be embarrassed:

    Labels on clothes

Feel free to buy a dress or blouse that is larger than usual. You do realize that some firms make looser clothes, while others make tighter ones. And if you come across a “small size” thing, there is nothing wrong with buying a larger size, despising your children’s psychological complexes. In clothes that are cracking at the seams, people seem larger. Only you will see the tag anyway, but the fact that this blouse suits you will be noticed by many.

    Bra size

When it comes to a bra, it is even more important that it fits perfectly, because not only the appearance, but also the health of the breast depends on it. Whether you like the numbers on the label or not, the main thing is that you feel comfortable in this bra. Think about your health, not about internal complexes!

    Shoe size

Your feet won’t thank you for shoes that are smaller. Chinese women, who disfigured their feet by bandaging their fingers, could not walk normally at all. The size of the foot is proportional to your height and is responsible for your stability. So it’s better to proudly wear your 41st than to suffer from bursitis, calluses and other “charms” since the age of thirty.

    Unsuccessful photos

If a photo is horrible, it does not mean that you suddenly turned into an ugly girl. A lot depends on how the light fell and from what angle you were filmed. And remember that not a single person, except you, will stare at every pore in your portrait.

If your figure was assigned to a certain type

This is only for the convenience of choosing the style of a dress or a set of exercises. Both “apples” and “pears” are good, they are just different, and there are no reasons for psychological complexes.

    Face type

Round, oval, square or triangular – the type of hairstyle or neckline and the way you apply makeup should depend on this, but not your self-confidence!

If you can’t repeat the exercise after the coach

He didn’t succeed when he started either. The main thing is that you work on yourself.

A crease in the abdomen that forms when you sit

When the spine bends, the stomach has to go somewhere. This is just a law of physics, there is nothing to be ashamed of, even if you have a lot of psychological complexes.

If your boyfriend’s jeans don’t fit on you

All sorts of psychological complexes can happen, and this is one of the strangest. Men and women are built differently. You do not envy the width of his shoulders, do not envy the thinness of his hips.

If your mother’s things became small for you

Who said that you should be smaller than her?

How to deal with physical and psychological complexes?

    • Get ready for serious work: getting rid of complexes is not an easy task. you will need to completely change your worldview. Pass a psychological test for complexes, find out what exactly you need to work with.
    • Study what psychological complexes there are, and which of them are specific to you. Know the enemy by sight!
    • Do not try to hide your insecurities. Recognize that there is such a problem, and it will become easier for you to solve it.
    • Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses. Shift the emphasis from all kinds of psychological complexes of a person to the existing advantages.
