Welcome to DES | Arizona Department of Economic Security
Welcome to the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES). DES works with families, community organizations, advocates and state and federal partners to realize our collective vision that every child, adult, and family in Arizona will be safe and economically secure.
DES works to promote enhanced safety and well-being for Arizonans by focusing on three primary goals:
- Strengthening individuals and families;
- Increasing self-sufficiency; and,
- Developing the capacity of communities.
Whether you are an individual who needs help, a potential employee passionate about helping others, or a part of the extensive network of human service professionals throughout Arizona dedicated to improving outcomes for children and families, we look forward to working with you to create a better tomorrow by providing support today.
Our History:
In 1972, The Department of Economic Security (DES) was established by consolidating multiple state agencies to provide an integrated approach to human services.
In 2014, the Arizona Legislature created the Department of Child Safety, which officially moved Child Protective Services out of DES and made it a stand-alone agency.
Today, DES invests approximately $4 billion annually to assist more than 2.9 million Arizonans. Our staff of more than 8,000 team members strive daily to provide timely, accurate and beneficial services to assist those in need.
Our Mission:
The Department of Economic Security makes Arizona stronger by helping Arizonans reach their potential through temporary assistance for those in need, and care for the vulnerable.
True North:
All Arizonans who qualify receive timely DES services and achieve their potential.
Our Values:
- Accountability – We commit to excellence, innovation and transparency.
- Integrity – We are trustworthy, honest and reliable.
- Respect – We appreciate each other, and value those we serve.
- Teamwork – We collaborate with humility, and partner with kindness.
- Diversity – We respect all Arizonans, and honor those in need.
Our Goals:
- Serve Arizonans with integrity, humility and kindness
- Support Arizonans to reach their potential through social services that train, rehabilitate, and connect them with job creators
- Provide temporary assistance to Arizonans in need while they work toward greater self-sufficiency
- Provide children with food, health care, and parental financial support; provide services to individuals with disabilities; and protect the vulnerable by investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation
Our work must continually demonstrate these values every day, through our interactions with the public and our fellow colleagues as we focus on building the capacity of the people we serve.
Each Division and every employee of DES must relate these values to their specific work so that they can become a meaningful part of their daily interactions. In this way, we all share ownership of these values and are able to relate them to our vision and our daily work, regardless of our position or job site within DES.
Our Community Partnerships
DES works with community partners statewide to administer programs and services to expand its reach to vulnerable populations. The Division of Aging and Adult Services contracts with dozens of organizations to provide homeless and domestic violence shelter services, resources for older adults, hunger relief through the state’s regional food banks, and other community action programs and services. The Office of Community Engagement collaborates with other community partners that provide similar services to the same populations to provide a comprehensive network of support to Arizonans. This collaboration includes co-locating DES staff within different community organizations to meet clients where they are already going to receive services.

I absolutely love this place. I come here with my daughter frequently for mommy-daughter dates and she loves it as well! Her favorite item is the kids French toast. She is always begging to come back to ‘egg-a-see’. I have tried just about everything on the breakfast menu and I really do like all of the food!

This place is a hidden gem I feel. The concept of the menu are a wordplay of you know. 😉 They have a variety of drink options both fruit juices and boozy options. Their approach to pancakes is very creative they have a barbacoa omelet which is DELICIOUS. There are so many choices to pick from benedicts, omelets, skillets, etc.

Omg!! This spot is amazing! Very quaint and nice atmosphere. Our service was great. PLAN TO SHARE! The portions are huge!! I thought the pricing was decent, but after seeing the size of the plates it felt like a really great deal. We wanted something sweet and savory so we ordered the brioche croque madame and the boozy cinnamon crunch toast pancakes.

This place is ‘off the hook!’ Great menu. Excellent service. Clean restaurant. Fresh food. Fancy coffee drinks too! My panini was ecstasy! It had crispy bacon, fresh avocado, roasted red peppers, eggs and cheese. The bread was toasted to perfection. Loved the fresh fruit kabob. Great presentation. My husband devoured his omelette. Great flavors.

Movie We (USA, 2019)
An African-American family with children comes to a beach house to relax from the hustle and bustle. During the day they lie on sun loungers and talk with other lovers of the sun and the sea (mostly white), but at night something intense will begin to happen. Comedian Jordan Peele made his debut with the acclaimed horror film Get Out, depicting the horrors of liberal racism. In “We” he decided to talk about the nightmares that ordinary African Americans have to face within the family. In his new picture, African Americans are not afraid of whites, but of themselves – more precisely, their infernal copies, as in “Body Snatchers”. nine0003

American comedian, actor, director. He made a name for himself in stand-up comedy and on Key & Peele with Keegan-Michael Key. He played in the series “Modern Family”, “Workaholics”, “Project Mindy”, “Fargo”. He co-wrote the comedy Keanu about a stolen cat, in which he starred with his partner Key, and then directed the black horror Get Out, a mixture of satire and horror film that cleverly played with genre canons and gender fears, and also represented in the main role a black hero (a rarity since George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead). The movie caused a sensation in the press, collected an incredible box office and received the status of a cultural phenomenon. In the horror film that followed, Us raised the stakes even higher. nine0003

6mys in the answer for then for the same
In 1986, little Adelaide finds herself with her parents in the evening at an amusement park on the beach of the California city of Santa Cruz and wanders to see an attraction with mirrors, where she meets her double – exactly the same girl, after meeting with whom she is pumped out for a long time with the help of psychiatrists. nine0003
Today, Adelaide (Lupita Nyong’o) and her family go every summer to their summer cottage in those parts. The family is a fun-loving husband (Winston Duke), also an African American, and two children, an older girl (Shahadi Wright Joseph) and a younger boy (Evan Alex). Their white friends (Elizabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker) live nearby with their twin daughters. In the evening there are some troubles with electricity, and then four terrible figures are found in the courtyard, holding hands. They look almost exactly like the characters, but not quite: the girl smiles all the time, the boy moves on all fours and wears a mask, the man grunts, and the woman, when she starts talking, sounds like she is being strangled. In addition, they wear red overalls, one leather glove each, and are armed with large golden scissors. nine0003
Exactly two years after the phenomenally successful Get Out, Jordan Peele, a comedian turned filmmaker in his late 40s, is once again reaping box office and applause, and hopefully awards in the long run. “We”, as far as one can judge, is one of those films that everyone in America will watch (the distributors, judging by the number of copies, do not count too much on the Russian audience).
And this is again a horror built around a social metaphor, but this time there is much more horror, a little less journalism. The racial theme, contrary to expectations, is secondary here. More important than the skin color of the heroes, their economic situation is an attack mainly on the middle class and its, as they say, mentality, and in a historical perspective. Although, of course, there are many nuances, and it’s hard not to notice, let’s say that in the case of a black family, satire is for the time being rather good-natured, and in the case of a white one, it is definitely evil: Elisabeth Moss and her husband are weak-willed slaves of consumption, plastic surgery and their voice assistant, and even their children are unpleasant. (Useless fact: the twins are played by sisters who co-imaged Ross’s daughter and Rachel from Friends 15 years ago. ) nine0003
As for the main characters, they become hostages – literally – of their own conformity. Deciphering the ideas of this picture will require excessive disclosure of its secrets, so we confine ourselves to a general remark. It’s like this: Jordan Peele outwitted himself a little this time. If the concept of a movie has to be explained in two lengthy (and optional—much like the classic villain’s speech before killing the hero) monologues and backed up with half a dozen flashbacks, then there’s something wrong with the concept. nine0003
“Us” is the perfect movie for reddit. Firstly, just like Get Out, it’s full of all sorts of useful little things that people love to discuss on forums: quotes, internal links, rebuses, and so on. Secondly, Pilovsky’s symbolism leaves just enough space for interpretation so that geeks rush to fill it with their versions, but the average viewer, leaving the hall, still did not feel like a complete idiot: not everyone goes to the multiplex to then puzzle over what the author wanted to say with his work. Something done elegantly. Something not very good: for example, the final turn of the film seems superfluous. After the fact, he mechanically turns some things around, but is devoid of emotional load and adds almost nothing, except for questions (which are already enough). nine0003
Ultimately, Us is too slick, too polished, too floridly conceived, and painstakingly executed with a tongue hanging out to be truly gripping. But no doubt it’s still interesting. Both as a cultural phenomenon and just as an exercise in the genre: it’s fun to watch anyway, a few moments, especially with children, turned out to be very scary, everything is in order with the atmosphere, and the lookbook from the film can be made excellent – the jumpsuits alone are worth it. And then, this may be the last Hollywood movie to allow such playful references to the work of Michael Jackson, and certainly the last to put a Thriller T-shirt on a child. nine0003

Best reviews of the movie “We” first movie.
The main problem of “Us” is that Jordan Peele decided, under the formal mask of horror, to speak out at once about all the problems of modern Trump America, saturating the film not just with one, but with a second, third level of meanings, symbols, references and metaphors that will be completely incomprehensible to the mass Russian audience and evoke not interest, but rather despondency and melancholy. nine0089 Under the banal slogan of the film: “The worst enemy of Americans is the Americans themselves”, wanting to denounce all modern American prejudices and stereotypes in one film, the director completely forgot that horror should not only have a hidden meaning, but also an intriguing plot, drive, and it is elementary should scare. The finale of the film generally slides into a primitive black comedy, finally leveling the slightest pleasure that “We” can deliver to its viewer.

Didn’t like it. The movie is weirder than scary. Beautiful shots and interesting tricks, but the plot goes to some heights, which by the middle of the film make you bored and look at your watch.

But it’s about the movie. I had the opportunity (thanks for that!) to see the film at the pre-screening, otherwise I would definitely go and see it anyway – it was interesting, especially since Comrade Dolin seemed to recommend it.
I’ll make a reservation right away that I haven’t seen Away, although it is on the list to watch. Therefore, I didn’t really know what to expect from the director. By default, I wanted to compare the film with the latest horror films A Quiet Place and Bird Box – they set the plan and watched them with interest. And this comparison We failed miserably, in my opinion, – I will try to describe why. nine0089 1. Horror?
Not scary. Both according to the script and how it was filmed (a couple of shudders due to a sharp sound somehow don’t really count). There are also a bunch of rather mediocre horror films with a scenario of zero interest, but from which it’s annoying – precisely in terms of presentation. There is no. Plus, the audience giggled, although the jokes are also so-so.
2. Acting
Traditionally for horror movies, this is not the strongest side, here, too, I did not notice any revelations.
3. History
Here it is necessary to make a reservation that there are horror films with a minimal story (The Call), or, in general, a torn piece is lived on the screen without eyeliner (why and from where) and even without an explicit ending (A Quiet Place, Bird Box from the latter) . There are films, the very idea of which turns the brain (at one time, the first Matrix). Here, there is an attempt to explain what is happening, and it is so far-fetched by the ears, tail and other parts of the body that it essentially hammers the last nail. nine0003
I heard from respected critics that the film is full of references to other creations of the genre and other Easter eggs. But damn it, this is just a bonus for those who saw and recognized them. And if there isn’t really a movie, then Easter eggs won’t help much either.

How we didn’t buy an apartment in Turkey In the office of one of the developers, the translation from Turkish was carried out by a local resident.
He called himself a real estate agent. We started viewing apartments with him (it’s convenient that he knows Russian), found a suitable option and agreed to a deal. The price was 1.990.000 TL. Already after 2 days the price changed by 10% and rose to 2.180.000 TL. But since we liked the apartment, we were indignant and decided to make a deal anyway. And then it began. nine0003
How do you usually ask for a list of documents that the buyer needs to prepare? Business people do this in the form of a text with a list of documents and explanations, but this was not our case)) Once, this was received from our Agent without comments:
To a reasonable question “what is it” our Super Agent replied: “We need 4 papers. In the future, we will continue to be asked to provide “three or four pieces of paper.” For one of the pieces of paper I sent to Nufus, but even the employees of state bodies could not understand what was needed, then our Super Agent simply yelled at the employee on the phone, for which we were put out of the door in disgrace. Well, we had to google ourselves and find out what is encrypted in this message. After a long search, the document was found on one of the sites of local public services. nine0003
And so we collected the necessary documents from our side, paid a deposit of 5000 TL to the seller, put part of the money (cadastral value indicated in Tapu – ownership) to a special account in a state bank (commission 1500 TL). The super agent agreed on a convenient way to pay for an apartment by transferring USD to the seller’s account in a specific bank, so that without SWIFT transfers (with commissions and difficulties). Then it seemed that happiness was somewhere nearby, and we were about to drink tea on the balcony with a wonderful view of the sea in a wonderful country! nine0003
Let me give you an example of one moment of our business correspondence. One morning, the agent sends an audio message asking: “Good morning, I need the papers that you have. Today.” When asked to list the list of documents that need to be provided, an even more cheerful audio message came: “Can you give 3-4 pieces of paper, please. ” I really wanted to ask how many rolls are needed, but still these are business negotiations, so they clarified in paper or electronic form they are needed. They didn’t get any clarifications exactly, they just brought everything that was on hand. The “papers” were given away, and a new meme appeared at home. nine0003
Then the days went by, а̶ ̶b̶a̶b̶u̶sh̶k̶i̶ ̶v̶s̶e̶ ̶p̶a̶d̶a̶l̶i̶ ̶i̶ ̶p̶a̶d̶a̶l̶i̶… and our Super Agent kept picking his olives in the garden and stopped answering messages and calls. We were already desperate. But then a wonderful day came when we received a message with a set of letters and amounts for payment, rushed to our friend for comments (after all, you can’t solve all issues by phone …). Surely that joyful day is near when we will sign the contract!
But not everything is so simple. The agent assured us that buying an apartment in Turkey is like going to the store for bread: here is the apartment, leave the money on the counter and the apartment is yours. The agreement to pay by transfer to a bank account turned into a personal insult (they say, you are fools and misunderstood everything), the money must be brought in paper dollars, and the contract is not needed at all, because the apartment is being sold “directly”. Yes exactly. How many red flags were lit in one moment! nine0003
By the way, how did you imagine the realtor’s office? Voot, and we were negotiating behind the counter of a mobile phone store, periodically serving customers.
The negotiations were constructive. Until it’s over. We agreed to pay by transfer. But while I was driving from the telephone and apartment sales office, everything changed dramatically. Our fairy is tired:
There was a short pause, the agent and the seller fully realized that without a contract we would not buy an apartment, and then even more fun began. nine0003
Then came a lot of emotions.
The whole snag was that we never received the necessary list of documents for the apartment (documents confirming ownership, commissioning certificates, etc. ) And the few documents received were really “pieces of paper”, photographed on our knees , where the text cannot be parsed. The worse the quality of the photos of documents, the brighter the agent claimed that he had provided everything. For each of my requests for a document, there were a lot of emotions in the form of machine-gun shots of messages and audio recordings, as well as threats to refuse to sell the apartment:
It was already clear that there would be no deal, even if the owner once again decides to sell. But still, the desire to receive money prevailed over emotions, and we received part of the requested documents. And they found a lot of interesting things in them.
It turned out that the photo in the independent appraisal report indicated an apartment in another house. The agent’s comment was that we need to decide whether we are buying an apartment or a photo (like, “do you want checkers or go?”), and that the photo just shows an example of a house:
The iskan for a house (it’s something like commissioning) lists two owners, but the piece of power of attorney we received only lists one owner.
