Our Toddler classroom is located on the grounds of the Presbyterian church which is on the corner of Walker Ave. and Siskiyou Blvd. The Toddler classroom is located on the upper level and is adjacent to the playground. Since our move from the Lincoln elementary school we are only able to serve to ages 24 months to 3 years old. We also house a cooking program for our 2-3 year olds in our school kitchen. Our aim is to provide a warm, safe, developmentally appropriate environment for your toddlers, helping them succeed through the many changes they will experience. We spend our days helping the children learn how to engage in a respectful manner with the materials and with each other. While awakening the senses through exploration and art, we focus on the process, not the product.

Daily Schedule
This schedule is flexible and is used as a guide for the day’s activities. Our primary goal is to meet the individual needs of the children.
• 8:30 am Arrival and greeting. Indoor or outdoor play
• 9:15 Circle (songs, puppets, finger play, games, books and music)
• 9:30-10:45 Free choice inside & snack time (Snack will be served in small groups between 9:45 – 10:15 am)
• Potty Break
• 10:45-11:30 Outside time
• 11:30-12:00 Handwashing and lunch followed by free choice or book time
• 12:00 pm Half day students depart
• 12:00-12:30 Lunch clean up, potty time, story time and transition to rest time

Diapering and toileting are an on-going process and are done at regular intervals throughout the day.
Please dress children in clothing that allows them the highest level of independence they can achieve when dressing and undressing themselves, especially when toilet training. “Onesies” are not recommended or overalls with buckles.

Oregon’s southernmost city, Ashland, has been named America’s Best City for Tourism, Top 10 Romantic Destinations for Lovers, and one of the Top 10 Destinations in the World for wine tourism.
The city of Jackson County is conveniently located in the picturesque Rogue Valley of mountains, hills and rivers, just 16 miles from the California border.
Although the days of the gold rush and the discoverers of new western territories are long gone, many modern travelers are discovering this place so unlike other cities in Oregon and neighboring states. Today Ashland is a place of pilgrimage for art lovers and just tourists who want to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of this cozy southern city.
Started in 1935 by a theater professor at Oregon Southern University, the famous Shakespeare Festival welcomes hundreds of thousands of guests from March to October each year. And in the fall, this city, as one of the oldest wine regions in Oregon, offers wine connoisseurs tours of local vineyards. Outdoor enthusiasts, after the snow melts, can conquer the summit of Mount Ashland, which is 7,500 feet (2,300 m) above sea level.
At the end of the 19th century, about 40 hot and mineral springs were found in the Ashland area and its environs. No wonder the city began to be called the American Karlsbad and Baden-Baden.
If you happen to be in these places, be sure to take a stroll through the city’s Lithia Park, listed in the register of historical places, and try the mineral water on the plaza, right in front of the entrance to the park. Be sure to visit one of two hot springs conveniently located just outside the city: the elegant Lithia Springs Resort and the Jackson Wellsprings hot spring.
Climate
The city has a Mediterranean climate with precipitation prevailing in autumn and winter. Summers are generally dry, due to the fact that the city is located in the “rain shadow” of the Coast Mountains, which delay the advance of rain clouds from the Pacific Ocean.
A Brief History of the City
Before the arrival of the first settlers, the territory of today’s Jackson County was inhabited by tribes of the Shasta people. In the middle of the 19th century, with the opening of the new Applegate Trail, more and more people began to arrive in these places, which caused bloody conflicts with local tribes.
A new settlement was formed around the flour mill in 1852. A post office opened in 1855, and in the 1860s schools and churches began to be built, and new businesses opened. In 1872, Ashland Academy was organized, which later became Oregon Southern University.
Built in 1887 and in operation until 1926, the railroad enabled trade between Portland in Oregon and San Francisco in California. Hard times came during the Great Depression. The global economic crisis has caused the closure of many Ashland businesses and, as a result, unemployment.
After the Second World War, a new stage in the development of the city began, based largely on the tourism industry.
Since, historically, the city has opposition views on many issues, including political issues, it is called the “People’s Republic of Ashland”. In 1860, the townspeople voted for Abraham Lincoln, while most neighboring towns voted for pro-slavery candidates. Unlike other counties in Oregon, in a recent vote, Ashlanders voted in favor of tax reform and increased environmental protection measures.
What to do and see in Ashland
Historic city center – downtown and city park Litiya, these are the places where locals and visitors like to visit. There are about 40 historic buildings and structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Historical heritage is also Main Street (Main Street) and Historic Plaza (Historic Plaza).
Lithia Park @ Lithia Park08 along the small river Ashland (Ashland Creek). The mile and a half trail through the park runs from historic Ashland Plaza to the base of the mountain of the same name.
Among the parks in Oregon, Lithia Park is perhaps the most unique. Impressive in its beauty, the Perozzi Fountain was created by the Italian sculptor Antonio Frili and installed in the park in 1916.
Another gem of the park is the mineral water from the Pompadour Chief Springs. One of the places where you can taste this healing water is the Lithia Fountain, near the entrance to the park. Lithium drinking water is also available at Enders Shelter, located a quarter of a mile from the park entrance on the plaza side.
The park also has two duck ponds, a rose garden and a Japanese garden, a tennis court, a swimming pond, a playground and, of course, many places where you can have a picnic in nature.

In 1935, Oregon Southern University theater professor Angus Bowmer founded the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. This event was the impetus for the organization of hundreds of Shakespeare festivals throughout America, including California, New York, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas.
Today, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is three repertory theaters with more than 2,000 seats offering 11 classic and contemporary plays from March to October. During the festival, the city receives up to 400 thousand guests.

In the US, Oregon is called beaver .
This is because it is the only one that has a double-sided flag. The state seal is depicted on one side, and on the “inside out” – a beaver. It is one of the largest Pacific states in the country. Located in the northwest, it borders Nevada, California, Idaho and the state of Washington.
But Portland, the greenest city in the country, is not the capital of Oregon (USA). The capital here is Salem. Previously, this city was a settlement of Indians. Despite the fact that the difference between Moscow and Portland, where Russian tourists most often arrive, is as much as fourteen hours, overcrowded planes fly to the state of Oregon (USA) across the Pacific Ocean. Scientists say that nature created this very specific way of feeding snow and rain water only once.
High desert and other attractions
A hundred kilometers southwest of Portland, the largest city, but not the capital of the state of Oregon (USA), begins a real bucolic paradise with the most fertile lands.
This is the valley of the Willamette River, where tourist wine tours are constant, where lovers of a good “bouquet” come from all over the world. Local winemakers are not chasing profit like their California rival. They make exclusive wines. And they succeed: the Oregon wine Pinot Willamette is no worse than the famous Burgundy namesake.

But every single one of the children, who came from any part of the earth, would like the same knowledge: where is Gravity Falls here, in the USA, in the state of Oregon? This mysterious town, which everyone knows from the cartoon of the same name, and the area where it is located excite everyone without exception. Where are they, all these Mystery Huts, where are the paranormal phenomena, where are these fabulous adventures?
The main Oregon zoo is located far on the outskirts, even rather outside the city, but there are always so many people there that parking is a big problem. Therefore, the smartest go there by public transport.
The zoo is huge, animals are collected there from almost all geographical areas. And elephants, and monkeys, and tigers, and bears, and giraffes, and hippopotamuses – everyone is not here. Tourists note that the zoo has done everything for the convenience of visitors. The territories are huge, so the free Zoomer transport scurries around there.
Where the waters of the Columbia and Willamette rivers merge, lies the largest city in the state and the most famous, sung in songs, films, and paintings. This is the “city of roses”, the most picturesque of the country’s settlements, which is surrounded by dense forests and ancient volcanic mountains. In the state of Oregon (USA), Portland has fountains and gardens, an abundance of sun and a lot of architectural sights. The city is historical, with a very characteristic building of its central part, but at the same time exceptionally fast growing.
Salem is the capital, but only the third largest city in Oregon. But what a beautiful one! The parks and gardens are the most picturesque, and the museums are numerous and famous.
Among them are Oregon Garden, Bush House, Old Aurora Colony, Mission Mill and many other attractions.
A city in the United States (Oregon) of five hundred and fifteen inhabitants has a namesake in almost every state. Among them is Huntington, located in West Virginia, the second largest city in the state. Why so many identical names? Because the very first city with that name is located in good old England, and the residents who moved to new lands missed it a lot.
This natural landmark on the Pacific coast is known not only by the entire state of Oregon. Few people in the world have not heard of Cape Perpetua, where ancient volcanic activity created such a heap of granite blocks that the well – this huge natural funnel, a hollow among sharp rocks – is completely invisible. Among the local Indians, this place bore a name that, in meaning, corresponds to our expression “the gates of the underworld.”
This amazing beach in Oregon is the most popular and most famous, in fact, there are few like it on the Pacific coast.
A narrow strip of the smallest, soft as fluff, snow-white sand, surrounded by exceptionally picturesque exotic plants, stretched for a whole kilometer. Not only the coast is unique here. The underwater world is very rich, even diving enthusiasts in the Red Sea are surprised when they come here. In these places, snorkeling is more popular – diving with a snorkel and mask, but diving is also widely represented.
Maar is a crater, and Hole-in-Ground is one of the most remarkable maars on our planet. It is like a hole in the surface of the earth, left after the destruction of the above-ground part of the mountain range, which happens after a strong earthquake or as a result of volcanic activity. Hole-in-Ground is simply stunning in size and views. Oregon in general is a seismically violent state, it is no wonder that nature has left such amazing traces here. The shape of the crater is round, very wide – more than one and a half kilometers, and a depth of one hundred and fifty meters, and in its appearance the inner platform resembles a scorched area by aliens.
The second largest waterfall in the country is Multnomah Falls, it has two cascades and is almost constantly covered by a curtain of thick fog. In rare moments, when the fog disperses, it becomes clear how picturesque it is. But even if such luck does not happen, it is still very interesting to walk along the pedestrian bridge, to plunge into this powerful roar of a huge amount of water falling from a great height. Fans of picturesque views climb the nearest rock and view the waterfall from the height of the birds’ flight.
There is a state of Oregon in the USA, which is famous for its amazing nature. Located by the Pacific Ocean, it borders the states of Idaho, California, Washington and Nevada. Here you can see deserts, steppes and mountain ranges, stunning lakes and dormant volcanoes. There are several nature reserves, cave complexes and turbulent rivers. There is still controversy over the name “Oregon”. The main existing version says that the word means “hurricane” in translation from French.
But not all language researchers agree with this assumption.

History
Since the 18th century, the first British expeditions visited the region. The region began to be explored, and Astoria became the first city founded. There was a fort founded by the Pacific Fur Company. Since the 19th century, conflicts began between Indians and Europeans, then between the countries of Great Britain and the USA. Oregon was officially recognized as a state in 1859.
State Attractions
There are other attractions in Oregon. You should definitely visit the Pacific coast. Perhaps the most amazing place here is Thor’s well.

It is worth talking about Portland separately.
The city has many unique features and extraordinary places. For example, here is the smallest park in the world, with an area of only 0.3 m 2 . The object even got into the Guinness Book of Records several decades ago. Different plants are constantly planted in this place: flowers, small shrubs, cacti.
About 40 breweries are concentrated in the city. Portland surpassed even German Cologne in this. Visitors can try beer of different varieties and tastes. Some establishments are located in historical buildings.
For those who want to visit the wild, camping in the fresh air, we can recommend a trip to the mountains of Siskaya. They belong to the Klamath Range zone. The climate is humid, it often rains, which caused the growth of coniferous trees in a large number. The highest point of the mountain system is Mount Ashland (2296 m).
A certain danger to the inhabitants of the state is the Three Sisters volcano complex. These are three mountains of different ages, the “youngest” of which is only 50 thousand years old.
Therefore, this volcano is considered active. US geologists are constantly monitoring changes in a natural object and nearby lands.
Scientists from the University of Oregon are engaged in research in the field of archeology. In particular, some archaeological sites are being studied, such as Fort Rock Cave. It was here that the oldest footwear on the planet was found. The sandals found in the grotto are about 10,000 years old! They were made from the bark of wormwood, as the results of archaeological analyzes showed. The cave itself is located in Lake County. There is a similar cave complex near the city of Paisley. And a whole reserve with a complex system of underground tunnels can be found next to the forests of Siskaya. The trails are well equipped for hikers. Numerous groups are accompanied by a guide who tells about the history of the object on the way. When visiting, you should pay attention to safety rules and warnings to people with chronic diseases (lungs, heart, etc.
). Children whose height is below a certain mark are prohibited from entering the caves.
There are more than 150 reservoirs in the state of Oregon. The large Upper Klamath is located at 1200 m above sea level. Plus, it is in Oregon that the deepest lake in the country, Crater Lake, is located. To reach its bottom, you need to descend 589 meters! The reservoir was formed on the site of a former volcano more than 7 thousand years ago. To see the attraction, you should come to the local National Park, which offers stunning views of the lake.
Summer, or “Summer Lake”, is also popular to visit. Previously, there was another majestic reservoir in the same place. Its area was 1190 m 2 . These days, Summer has gotten smaller. The lake is full of birds. More than 200 varieties of them live on the shores. Here you can meet the blue heron, Canada goose and take great photos of the state of Oregon, giving an idea of the flora and fauna of the region. People should be wary of possible dust storms near the lake.
