HOUSTON – Three suspects are in police custody Wednesday following a pro-active investigation that ended with one of the men running into a crowded daycare and hiding in a closet, KPRC 2 has learned.
The identities of the three men are pending.
All three were under Houston Police Department surveillance in the area of 1-10 and Bunker Hill where elderly women had been followed home and mugged, according to Lt. Larry Crowson.
The crime is typically known as “jugging.”
The men were tracked to a Jersey Village home on the 9200 block of Sutter Ranch.
The intended jugging target, an unidentified woman, was not injured.
One of the suspects ran across West Road from a nearby neighborhood into the Kids R Kids daycare at 10708 Ranchstone.
The suspect was discovered by HPD police dog, Blitz, fairly quickly. He had minor injuries. Police said he first tried to blend in with a group of workers.
No kids were hurt.
The daycare sent KPRC 2 the following statement:
“Earlier today, a police and K9 chase led an unarmed suspect to hop our school fence and enter our school’s back door while children were outside at play. Within moments, the Houston Police immediately apprehended the suspect while our staff swiftly went into lockdown mode and kept all of our children and teachers safe. Nearly six months ago, on January 31, Bobbi Brown was rushed to an Atlanta, Georgia hospital after her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, found her unconscious in the bathroom at home.
Due to the onset of cerebral edema, it was decided to put the girl into a state of artificial coma in order to try to save her life. Since then, she has remained on a ventilator (she was in a “vegetative state” according to Fox News).

Over the past few months, there have been conflicting reports from Bobby Brown’s relatives regarding the girl’s condition. Rumors about the imminent death of the girl circulated in the media, then there were reports of her imminent recovery.
A few weeks after the girl was found unconscious in the bathroom, “sources familiar with the situation” reported that the father of Bobby Brown decided to remove his daughter from life support systems, but his lawyers were quick to deny this information. On the same day, the girl’s relatives announced the amendment in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
In April, Bobby Brown claimed that his daughter “woke up” and “looked into his eyes.
