the Difference Between 24 Months and 2T
– The Trendy Toddlers

There is a stereotype that shopping for women’s clothes is a challenge, to say the least. Well, have you tried buying clothes for newborns and toddlers? All the rest fades in comparison. Not only the variety of items is huge making it impossible to choose, but picking out the right size is also very difficult. You cannot make a small child of 1 to 3 years old try out options as adults do. Consequently, choosing the right size so that the baby is comfortable falls into the hands of the parents.

As life indicates, people have the most trouble choosing clothes for babies of 1,5 to 3 years old. When it comes to small children, even a couple of months in age can seriously influence the sizing. Here you will learn how to choose clothes for a baby of 1-3 years. You will also find out the difference between 2t and 24 months.

Leaning the Basics: What Size Is 2t

If you shopped for children’s clothes, you have probably seen 2t size written on the label. For some, the meaning of it is quite confusing. In reality, the answer is quite simple: size 2t indicates that a piece of clothing was designed for a toddler. Nevertheless, we know that toddlers are children from 12 to 36 months. There is no way that the clothes will be of the same size, right? Of course. Besides, the size 2t for boys can vary from the same size for girls. To understand the basics of the clothes for toddlers, let’s review the 2t size chart.

The first thing that a parent should know that although the toddler’s age lasts from 12 to 36 month, it does not work the same with the sizing of clothes. Children grom very fast and even a couple of month can make a difference. That is why there can be no single size for all toddlers. Although 2t means size for toddlers, it really indicates a size for children of 2 years old only. In this perspective, when you buy clothing items for toddlers, the 2t size age is 2 years old. Now we can determine what does 2t mean: ‘2’ describes an age of a child, while ‘t’ stands for a toddler.

But does it mean that 2t clothes will be suitable for all 2-year-olds? The answer is no. Each child is different. 2-year-olds will have different weight and height. In this perspective, you need to know the parameters of a baby to determine whether the 2t clothes will fit him or her. As for the sizing chart, it looks like this: 33.5 – 35″ 85 – 89 cm in height for items labeled with 2t. That is why if you want to buy toddler suits 2t for boys or dresses for girls, consider the individual measurements of the child.

2t Size Chart: Brand Differences

As we have already established, 2t size was designed for children of 2 years. Nevertheless, are the parameters such as height and width always the same? The answer is no. The sizing chart can vary with different brands. Usually, brands make 2 separate lines of clothing: 24 months and 2t. Before buying anything, we recommend to measure your child’s height and weight and buy fitting items. Nevertheless, if you do not know the exact parameters, you can try holding up clothes to your baby and see if they fit. In this perspective, you should only be oriented on your child’s parameters. Different brands use different sizing systems. With one brand your baby can fit perfectly into 2t clothes, while with others it is better to buy items with 24 months label. That is why before ordering a whole batch of summer toddler girl clothes size 2t, get one and check if it fits your daughter. If it turns out to be big, you may need to try size 24 months for baby girls.

Difference Between 24 Months and 2t: What to Pay Attention To

You are already familiar with the 2t size that will generally fit 2-year children. At the same time, there is also a size called ‘24 months’. It seems from the name that is was also designed for babies of 2 years. So where lies the difference between 2t and 24 months? Is 2t and 24 months the same thing? Do not worry, we will explain everything.

Firstly, it may seem that these sizes are the same based on their names. However, it is actually not the case. Most of the kids clothing lines offer both sizes. The parameters of 2t and 24 months clothes are actually different. Some brands have even different boys’ clothes 24 months’ size and the same size for girls. That is why knowing the peculiars of a certain manufacturer will help you choose outfits of a fitting size.

2t vs 24 Months: Specifics

The main difference between 2t and 24 months is the fact that the former was designed for toddlers, while the latter usually fit kids of a younger age. It means, that even if your child is 2 or almost 2, it is better to buy 24 months clothes. 2t size will be great for toddlers of 2 years and several months. Now we can answer the question “Are 2t and 24 months the same size?” No, they are not. Generally, the former size is bigger, while the latter is smaller. Here are some specifics that will make ie easier to distinguish these two sizes while buying clothes for a baby:

  1. Diaper

One of the main difference between kid size 2t and 24 months is the shape. As a rule, 24-months clothes are usually made rounder. The reasoning behind this is simple: it is designed this way to leave space for a diaper. We have already established that 24-months label works for babies, not toddlers. Some may still wear diaper, and that is why clothes are rounder. Toddler onesies 2t will not have snaps between the legs, while 24-months jumpsuits will.

  2. Lenght

The length will not be the same for these two sizes. 24-months clothes tend to be shorter in length compared with size 2t measurements. It works for both bottoms and tops. A shorter length allows a baby to crawl comfortably without getting tangled in fabric. Considering toddlers do not crawl, the 2t clothes will be longer.

  3. Width

There is also a difference in width for 24 months and 2t. Generally, clothes with 2t label will be slimmer. Toddlers are able to walk well and they do not have to crawl at all. That is why the do not need the additional width in their clothes. As a result, the sleeves and pant legs will be longer for 2t size.

  4. Styling

Last, but not least: 2t clothes usually look as a smaller version of adults’ clothes. 24-months, on the other hand, still look like a baby’s clothes. As before, it is based on the toddler’s ability to walk freely by themselves. It gives room for fashion. For babies who still crawl and use diapers, the main thing is comfort. That is why so will see much more variety in 2t clothing.

2t vs 24 Months: Choosing the Right Size

We have already answered the question “Is 2t the same as 24 months?”. But it can still be difficult to shop for a child of 1.5-2.5 years. We prepared a list of tips and advice that will make the process less stressful:

  1. Know your child’s parameters

The best way of buying fitting clothes is to know your kid’s weight and height. These two factors are the most important. A sales assistant will be able to recommend options for you based on this information. If you are buying baby clothes as a gift for someone’s child, it is still better to ask the size or measurements.

  2. Consider the ability to walk

One of the main differences between 2t and 24 months is the fact that the former will fit children who stopped crawling. Even if your child is 2 years old, but he or she still crawls a lot, it is better to buy 24-months clothes.

  3. Diaper

The same goes for diapers. If your child still requires diapers, 2t clothes will not be for him. It will be much more difficult to change it and will only bring discomfort for both the baby and parents.

  4. Hold clothes up to the child

If you do not know your kid’s exact weight and height, you should hold up clothes to him or her. This method does not give a 100% guarantee, but it is better than buying blindly.

To conclude, it may seem that there is no difference between 24 months and 2t. However, with a closer look, they are easier to distinguish. For example, the size 2t age is toddler, while 24 months is for babies. Moreover, there are some distinctions in width, length, and styling. Remember: all children are different. You need to consider your own kid, his or her measurements and needs before buying clothes.

Biography of Mikhail Gorbachev

Mikhail Gorbachev is the last General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the USSR, the first and only President of the Soviet Union. The founder of Perestroika and the policy of glasnost in the USSR. The first of the highest ranks of the leadership, who voluntarily resigned the powers of the president. After his resignation, he is an active lecturer, founder of his own Foundation.

The activities of the Soviet leader influenced the course of world history, in particular, led to the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan and the Warsaw Pact countries, ensured the signing of an agreement with the United States to reduce the number of medium-range missiles, and contributed to the reunification of Germany. These and other merits of his became a good reason for awarding the politician the Nobel Peace Prize.

In the post-Soviet space, the historical role of the ex-president is assessed ambiguously – some consider him an outstanding political figure who managed to break the powerful totalitarian system, others blame him for the deliberate collapse of the state and even for all the current troubles of the Russian Federation.

Childhood and family

The boy, born in the spring of 1931 in the family of Stavropol peasants Sergei Gorbachev and Maria Gopkalo, was named Victor, but at baptism the priest gave him the name Mikhail.

Russian father and Ukrainian mother lived without frills, worked from morning to evening on the collective farm. Until that time, until it was time to go to school, little Misha grew up and was brought up by his grandparents – Pantelei Efimovich and Vasilisa Lukyanovna Gopkalo.

Mikhail Gorbachev in childhood with grandparents

Grandfather, a veteran of the First World War, was a member of the Bolshevik Party and chairman of a collective farm in Privolnoye, and also raised the Red October collective farm in a neighboring village. Neo, even he, a faithful Leninist, was not spared by the terrible year of 1937. Panteley Yefimovich was accused of Trotskyism and arrested. After the February plenum of 1938, where the issue of combating excesses in identifying “enemies of the people” was raised, grandfather, after a year in prison and bullying, was acquitted and returned home, where he again assumed the duties of chairman of the collective farm.
nine0004 The fate of the exile befell another grandfather, Andrei Moiseevich Gorbachev, a peasant-individual. He spent two years in Siberia, then was released and, having arrived in Stavropol, joined the collective farm.

Misha was ten years old when the war began. The father went to the front, and the rest of the family was left to wait, then the invaders came to the village for an endlessly long five months. In his book I Remain an Optimist, Gorbachev much later recalled:

Rumors began to come about mass executions in neighboring cities, about some cars poisoning people with gas (after the liberation, all this was confirmed: thousands of people, mostly Jews, were shot in the city of Mineralnye Vody), about the impending reprisal against the families of communists. We understood that the first on this list would be our family members. And my mother and grandfather Andrei hid me on a farm outside the village. The massacre seemed to be scheduled for January 26, 1943 years old, and on January 21 our troops liberated Privolnoye.

The liberation of the village came along with a message about the death of foreman Sergei Gorbachev. Relatives experienced great relief when it turned out that the notification was a mistake, and their son, husband and father were alive, moreover, twice the Order of the Red Star and had a medal “For Courage”, which he received for crossing the Dnieper.

After a forced two-year break, the boy continued his studies at school, became interested in amateur performances and theater, played Zvezdich from Masquerade and Lelya from Snegurochka on the amateur stage. As a Komsomol leader, he organized propaganda teams that traveled around the surrounding villages and farms with performances and sometimes with paid performances. With the proceeds, 35 pairs of shoes were bought for those who had nothing to go to school.

Mikhail Gorbachev with his parents and younger brother

In the spring of 1946, in parallel with his studies, he began to work on a collective farm, first at the MTS, and then as an assistant combine operator, his father, who had returned from the war. In 1947, Mikhail’s younger brother, Alexander, appeared in the family (he died in 2002, at the age of 54, after a serious illness).

Work on the combine was not easy, but Misha coped with his duties with honor and in 1949 received a high state award: the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. Awarding teenagers with such an order was then a rarity in the USSR, it was awarded to combine operators who really distinguished themselves and overfulfilled the plan for harvesting grain.
nine0005

Sergei Gorbachev was awarded the Order of Lenin. Until now, the politician remembers the figure of his milling: 8888 centners of grain. Young Misha admired his father, a simple village collective farmer. According to him, nature itself laid in Sergei Andreevich innate intelligence, inquisitiveness, a sharp mind, humanity, which distinguished the father of the future Secretary General from other villagers. And he always had their respect.

As a tenth-grader, Mikhail was recommended as a candidate for membership in the CPSU, and after receiving a certificate, nineteen-year-old Gorbachev without entrance exams (such a privilege was given by a state award) became a student at the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University. The young man was struck by the capital, its scale and power. Everything was a first for him. Michael with excitement got to know the huge and beautiful Moscow. Later in his book he writes:
nine0005

Later, in the fourth year, we will move to the Lenin Hills, we will live two people in a block, for a week, or even two, without getting out of the “noble nest” into the city. And then we lived on Stromynka, freshmen, twenty-two people in one room, in the second year – eleven, in the third – six.

As a candidate member of the CPSU, the young man was immediately elected the leader of the Komsomol course, and then the faculty. Two more years later, Gorbachev becomes a full-fledged communist, so that at 1955, after graduating with honors, return to the Stavropol Regional Prosecutor’s Office for distribution.

He stayed there for a short time: Mikhail, on his own initiative, was invited to the post of deputy department of agitation and propaganda of the regional committee of the Komsomol. In five years, his career advanced to the post of first secretary of the regional committee of the Komsomol.

Party career

In 1961, Mikhail Gorbachev was delegated to the Extraordinary XXII Congress of the Communist Party. Soon he becomes the head of the department, and at 19In 1966, he headed the city committee of the party. Gorbachev came to this post, having a diploma of the correspondence department of the economic faculty of the Stavropol Agricultural Institute in his track record.

Senior comrades noted the integrity and purposefulness of their younger colleague, and since many party functionaries from the country’s top leadership came to rest at Kavminvody, Gorbachev was soon noticed by such personalities as Yuri Andropov, who called him “the Stavropol nugget”, Andrei Gromyko, Mikhail Suslov.

Mikhail Gorbachev in his youth

The year 1970 was marked by the appointment of Mikhail Sergeevich to the post of first party secretary of the entire Stavropol Territory. After four years of leadership, he becomes the head of the commission for youth affairs under the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. In addition, he was considered an undeniable expert on agriculture and dealt with the ideological issues of the development of this direction.

Andropov initiated the transfer of a valuable and highly educated specialist to Moscow. On November 1978 Gorbachev was elected Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU, in October 1980 he took a seat in the Politburo.

Rebuilding

At a meeting of the Central Committee on December 10, 1984, Mikhail Sergeyevich delivered a report entitled “The Living Creativity of the People”, which resonated with both his colleagues and the majority of Soviet people. The theses presented by him formed the basis of the new political and social course of the USSR, known as Perestroika.

Gorbachev at a meeting with residents of Smolensk (1984)

It was proposed to restructure the forms and methods of management, to develop commodity-money relations, and to provide open access to information as evidence of respect for the people.

Not afraid of fresh winds, the Party boldly and resolutely throws open the windows and doors of the building of our society, towards everything progressive, advanced, life-affirming.

1985 brought politics the post of general secretary, and three years later he combined it with the post of chairman of the Supreme Council. Gorbachev reached the pinnacle of power and initiated processes in the Soviet Union that went down in history. The words “glasnost”, “perestroika”, “acceleration” did not leave the TV screens and newspaper editorials.

People believed the party leader, despite the total shortage of food and consumer goods in the late 80s and early 90s. They were given the opportunity to travel abroad and choose their religion.

Unpopular measures in the framework of the reforms were the “dry law” and the total cutting down of elite vineyards in the Crimea, the Caucasus, the Krasnodar Territory, as well as the exchange of money.

Mikhail Gorbachev announces the introduction of “dry law”

Among the indisputable achievements of the main reformer of the USSR is his decision to withdraw the contingent of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, the establishment of relations with Western countries, and the elimination of the fear of nuclear war.
nine0002 The first and last president of the USSR

In 1990, Mikhail Gorbachev became the first president of the Soviet Union and was given the powers of supreme commander. But this did not save the politician from the coup that broke out in 1991, when individual party leaders, together with major security officials and representatives of the KGB, declared Gorbachev incapable of heading the state due to illness. At that time, he was relaxing with his wife at the Foros residence and learned about the formation of the State Emergency Committee very late, since he, the president of a superpower, was deprived of contact with the outside world.
nine0004 Mikhail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin

The coup was suppressed by the resistance forces, headed by the President of the RSFSR Boris Yeltsin and his then associates Alexander Rutskoi, Ivan Silaev, Ruslan Khasbulatov. The outcome of these fateful days was the Belovezhskaya agreement of the leaders of eleven republics on the creation of the CIS and, automatically, the cessation of the existence of a superpower – the Soviet Union.

Mikhail Gorbachev on the Belavezha Accords

On August 24, 1991, Gorbachev, who was categorically against such a decision, voluntarily left his post as head of state, and in the autumn he ceased to be a member of the Communist Party.
nine0002 Life after the USSR

With the country’s entry into a new era, Mikhail Gorbachev took up social activities. He founded a foundation named after himself (Gorbachev-Fund), which is engaged in historical research (“Gorbachev Readings”, etc.) under the motto “Toward a New Civilization”. The former president earned his living by lecturing, and in 1994 Boris Yeltsin gave him a lifetime allowance of 40 average pensions.

Mikhail Gorbachev. First and last

Despite Yeltsin being told not to engage in politics, Gorbachev put forward his candidacy for the presidential election in 1996, but scored a little more than half a percent of the votes.

Mikhail Gorbachev and Vladimir Putin

In 2000, he founded his own party (Russian United Social Democratic Party, SDPR), was its leader until 2004.
Gorbachev supported the young president Vladimir Putin, but eventually became disillusioned with him, noting the growing authoritarianism in the country, criticized the current electoral system, and in 2011, in his radio speech, advised Putin to withdraw his candidacy from the elections. However, in 2014, after the situation with Crimea, he changed his anger towards the president to mercy. Due to the support of the anti-Ukrainian course of Russia, Gorbachev was banned from entering the territory of Ukraine for 5 years.
nine0002 Personal life of Mikhail Gorbachev

All this time, during which Mikhail Gorbachev went from a student who first came to Moscow to a high-ranking prisoner on the southern coast of Crimea, his devoted and beloved wife Raisa was next to him.

Mikhail Gorbachev with his wife

The ex-president of the USSR spoke about the history of their acquaintance, love and family life in his books. The center of the Moscow University, where the freshman Gorbachev studied, was the Stromynka student club. This squat building, a former military barracks, was visited by the luminaries of Soviet cinema and pop music – Rostislav Plyatt, Ivan Kozlovsky, Vera Maretskaya, Sergey Lemeshev and other creative celebrities, in order to introduce young people to high culture, according to the old Russian tradition.
nine0004 Dancing evenings were also popular at that time, one of which was literally dragged Mikhail out of the hostel by his friends Yuri Topilin and Vladimir Lieberman, promising to introduce him to a stunning girl. The young man preparing for the seminar reluctantly set aside his books. Little did he know then that he was on his way to meet his fate.

Mikhail Sergeevich and Raisa Maksimovna Gorbachev. Love Story

On the site, he was introduced to Raisa Titarenko, a student of the Faculty of Philosophy, a calm and charming girl who at first did not pay any attention to Mikhail. They called each other “you” even though he was twenty and she was nineteen. The girl kept herself strictly, and yet the young man lost his head.
nine0004 As it turned out later, Titarenko at that time had a young man, a student of the Faculty of Physics, Anatoly Zaretsky, with whom relations were steadily moving towards a wedding, until Anatoly introduced Raisa to his parents. The ambitious puffy lady, the wife of the Baltic “general of the railways”, categorically did not like the girl, and the failed groom did not dare to argue with her mother.

Raisa Titarenko and Mikhail Gorbachev before their wedding (1953)

Raya was very upset by the gap, but when she again accidentally met student Gorbachev, she did not refuse his offer to take a walk around Moscow. We walked for a long time and talked about many things. Soon walks became almost daily. One summer evening, they agreed that they would be together forever.
nine0004 September 25, 1953 Mikhail Gorbachev and Raisa Titarenko registered their relationship with the registry office. Only the closest friends were witnesses of the event, there were no special celebrations on this occasion. But, as Mikhail Gorbachev recalled much later, “then there was not a single year that we did not celebrate this day. Wherever this date found us – both at home, and on the train, and on vacation, and even on the plane. Most of the time we celebrated just the two of us.” They so wanted. They felt so good.

Four years after the wedding, already in Stavropol, the only daughter of the Gorbachevs, Irina, was born. Raisa Maksimovna worked as a lecturer in the Knowledge Society, and later lectured to students of Moscow State University while her husband was pursuing a political career.

She became the first wife who violated the traditional manners of the spouses of the highest party leaders. Always supporting her husband’s progressive ideas, she accompanied him on trips around the country and on business trips abroad. At the same time, she always looked dignified, knew how to keep up the conversation not only in her native language, but also in English.
Raisa is a miracle. I loved her and continue to love her, I still cannot believe that she is gone. And it’s been nineteen years since she’s been gone.

In 1999Raisa Gorbacheva is gone

She passed away on September 20, 1999. The death of his beloved wife and friend was an irreparable loss for the ex-president of the USSR. Literally in a year, the first lady burned out from leukemia, despite all the efforts of German doctors from the oncology clinic. Versions were put forward that Raisa could have been irradiated during a visit to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1989, or the tests at the Semipalatinsk test site were to blame for everything – a radioactive cloud also covered the city in which the 17-year-old girl lived.

On the tenth anniversary of his wife’s death, Mikhail Sergeevich released the CD “Songs for Raisa” with the help of Andrei Makarevich, where he himself performed seven romances that Raisa Maksimovna liked the most. The lines about his wife in his books literally breathe love and enduring longing.

Gorbachev: The collapse of the USSR is my drama

Despite deteriorating health (at the end of 2019 he came down with pneumonia), Mikhail Gorbachev is busy writing another book, publishing his articles. The politician and public figure is concerned about the lack of a constructive dialogue between Russia and the United States and believes that so far “it is not common sense that wins, but the military-power complex. ” The article was published in the Wall Street Journal.

In an interview with the Japanese edition of the Asahi Shimbun, Mikhail Sergeevich expressed the opinion that America is striving for world hegemony, which is impossible in modern conditions. He believes that the underlying reason for the US withdrawal from the system of nuclear arms control and reduction treaties “is their desire to free themselves from any restrictions in the military sphere and to absolute military superiority.”
