Therapists at the Center specialize in pediatrics.  That is all we do!  The Center is able to offer services for autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, learning problems, speech difficulties, fine and gross(large) motor problems, challenges at school, ADHD/ADD, sports injuries, sensory integration dysfunction, auditory processing challenges, high risk neonatal follow-up, and oral-motor/feeding difficulties . . . just to name a few.

Our therapists each have extensive pediatric experience, are up to date on the latest techniques, and are required to complete continuing education coursework every year.

Things to Do in Colorado Springs – Top 20 Attractions

Manitou Rock Dwellings is one of the coolest places to visit near Colorado Springs. The attraction is a nature reserve consisting of reconstructed ancient dwellings created by the Anasazi, a prehistoric Native American civilization. Their descendants are the modern Pueblo Indians. In 1907, these structures were moved from a canyon on the Colorado-Utah border to the small town of Manitou Springs for protection and preservation.

Visitors can enter rock dwellings built between 1200 BC and 1300 AD, see 40 unique chambers and learn about the lifestyle of the region’s indigenous peoples. There is also a museum on the territory, which displays authentic archaeological artifacts – pottery, tools and weapons. It is housed in an authentic 1904 Pueblo Indian three-story building that has been expanded in the same architectural style to house an exhibit and gift shop.

Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak, located just 16 kilometers west of Colorado Springs, is 4301 meters high and is part of the Rocky Mountain chain. Every year it is visited by thousands of tourists. There are a number of options for climbing to the top of Pikes Peak for the stunning views that inspired poet Katherine Leigh Bates to write America the Beautiful.

Pikes Peak Highway will be appreciated by those who love speed and risk and want to feel like a participant in the legendary Race in the Clouds. A much safer, but also full of incredible experience option is the Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak cog railway mini-trip on the iconic red train with panoramic windows. You can also climb to the top of the mountain by SUV or minibus during a group tour. Those who choose bike climbing should be prepared for the fact that it can be a real challenge. The route is quite intense and full of turns, but the beauty of the surrounding nature will definitely compensate for this. There are also two trails for experienced hikers – Crags Trail and Barr Trai. And you can return from the top down on the Rocky Mountain Ride shuttle.

Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum

The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM) is housed in a beautiful 1903 building that previously housed the El Paso County Courthouse. Eleven permanent exhibitions showcase important milestones in the Pikes Peak region and its rich culture.

• COS@150 Gallery commemorates the 150th anniversary of the founding of Colorado Springs.
• Any Place That Is North And West tells about the contribution to the development of the local community of African Americans who settled in the city as a result of mass migration from the southern states after the Civil War.
• This Shall be the Land For Women is about the fight for women’s suffrage in Colorado.
• Visitors to The Story of Us: The Pikes Peak Region from A – Z can explore the region’s history and geography with dynamic maps.
• Cultural Crossroads introduces Native American heritage to museum visitors.
• Beads, Blankets and Buffalo: Trade at Bent’s Fort interactive exhibition space is a favorite with kids. Here they can visit a carpentry workshop, stand behind a trading counter and play in a wigwam.

Garden of the Gods Public Park

Those lucky enough to visit this wonderful place no longer wonder why it is called the Garden of the Gods. Looking at the magnificent, green rock formations of red, white and pink sandstone, it is easy to believe in their divine origin. The park has the status of a National Natural Landmark and is one of the best places to visit outdoors in Colorado Springs – about two million tourists visit it every year.

The Garden of the Gods offers an extensive program for its guests. You can choose a tour on cars, segways or bicycles, go hiking with a guide or on your own along one of the picturesque trails, go rock climbing or horseback riding. At the same time, the park offers excellent service. The Center for Visitors and Nature operates here, which presents interesting expositions about the history of the Garden of the Gods, its geology, flora and fauna, as well as the fossils of a new dinosaur species found in this area – Theiophytalia Kerri.

In addition, tourists can visit an excellent souvenir and gift shop, a cafe with an excellent menu and magnificent panoramic views. The park also houses the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, which is open during the summer season.

Balanced Rock

Balanced Rock is another Colorado Springs attraction located in the Garden of the Gods. This stone has been balancing on its pedestal for many years. His age is about 290 million years, the height is over 10 meters, and the estimated weight is 6350 tons. Despite such impressive parameters, a red sandstone boulder standing on a small base looks airy and even elegant, for which it is sometimes compared to a ballerina. This is a real natural work of art, created by the forces of wind, water and natural erosion.

Balanced Rock can be safely called the most popular object of the park. From 1890 to 1932, as long as the land on which it is located was privately owned, people were willing to pay to see it. And with the advent of portable cameras, the stone has become the protagonist of millions of photographs. And the flow of those who want to capture themselves as if they are holding Balanced Rock on their shoulders or on their arm is growing every year.

Cave of the Winds Mountain Park

Whether you prefer solo trips or fun family hikes, Cave of the Winds mountain park is a must-see. It is located at the foot of Pikes Peak and offers a variety of breathtaking adventures both on the surface and underground.

There are two types of excursions to visit the cave. Family Discovery Tour, in which even small children can participate, is held along well-lit and equipped corridors. And the mystical and mysterious Haunted Lantern Tour leads through the darkest tunnels of the cave, through which you need to move with candle lanterns in your hands, listening to scary stories about ghosts.

On the surface, park guests also have a wide range of activities to choose from: the three-level Wind Walker Challenge Course, the Bat-a-Pult zipline, the terror-dactyl canyon-bottom high-speed descent, the Cliff Hanger climbing wall, and Geronimo’s high-altitude attraction Leap. More relaxed pastimes and families with children can become ancient prospectors and go on a treasure hunt, practice ax throwing or take on the Caver’s Crawl Box Challenge.

Broadmoor Seven Falls

Broadmoor Seven Falls is one of the local attractions that is known far beyond the city limits and was even mentioned by National Geographic in the list of the most beautiful waterfalls of the world. Seven stepped cascades with a total height of 55 meters are located in South Cheyenne Canyon, near the Broadmoor resort. They are available to visitors from March to December. Therefore, when choosing what to see in Colorado Springs, do not miss such an iconic location.

Journey to a natural wonder through beautiful countryside called “Colorado’s greatest mile of scenery.” To admire the waterfalls, visitors can climb the stairs to the observation deck, breaking 224 steps, or use the elevator. This spectacle looks especially picturesque in the evening, thanks to multi-colored illumination. At the top of Seven Falls, there are two hiking trails open from May to October.

Old Colorado City

Old Colorado City is locally referred to as OCC. This is a beautiful and lively area with well-preserved 19th century brick buildings located mainly along Colorado Avenue. In 1982, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wonderful souvenir and clothing shops, jewelery boutiques, art galleries and studios, charming pastry shops and cafés, pubs and restaurants can be found here. Every month, Old Colorado City hosts the First Friday ArtWalk, where visitors can meet local artisans and artists, see live performances, and get free snacks and discounted merchandise.

The neighborhood is home to the Old Colorado History Center, which displays artifacts about the city. Its activists hold lectures, tours and craft fairs. Another important local attraction is the Michael Garman Museum & Gallery.

Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center

The Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center is a stunningly interesting location just outside of Colorado Springs, in the municipality of Woodland Park. This is a museum created in 2004 where you can see the rarest fossils. The finds presented here belong to the Cretaceous period, which means they are from 66 to 145 million years old.

The museum has two main galleries. The first exhibits fossil species that lived on earth – dinosaurs, pterosaurs and mammals. In the second – plesiosaurs, mosasaurs, ancient fish and other marine organisms. Museum guests can learn a lot of interesting things during the guided tour, which is included in the ticket price, carefully examine and even touch the exhibits. Also, visitors have a unique opportunity to visit the working laboratory and see how the newly discovered fossils are extracted from the rock and restored.

If you’re looking for something to do in Colorado Springs with your kids, be sure to bring them here. The museum has a special play area where kids can dig and find some dinosaur bones, assemble a 3D model of an ancient reptile on the touch screen, solve puzzles, read, draw and watch an educational movie.

The center has a gift shop called Prehistoric Paradise, which sells everything related to dinosaurs – from fossils to toys and jewelry.

Glen Eyrie Castle

No sightseeing tour of Colorado Springs is complete without a visit to Glen Eyrie, a Tudor-style English castle listed on the National Register of Historic Places . It was built in 1871 by the city’s founder, General William Jackson Palmer.

The building is known for its outstanding and even innovative architecture at that time. For example, the fireplaces that were used to heat 17 rooms and several dining rooms and halls were equipped with two chimneys to regulate smoke extraction depending on the direction of the wind. The castle also had an intercom for intercom and developed a storage system for fire hoses in case of fire.

After the death of the general in 1909, the estate changed owners several times until it was acquired by the worldwide Christian parachurch organization Navigators in 1953. The attraction is open to the public. Guests can explore the castle on 2-daily public tours, enjoy a gourmet afternoon tea in the music room, visit the bookstore, and stay overnight in one of the beautiful rooms.

North Cheyenne Cañon Park

North Cheyenne Canyon Park is the perfect place to combine the beauty of Colorado Springs with real outdoor recreation. It is located in the southwestern part of the city, in a gorge 300 meters deep. The park is covered by a network of hiking and cycling trails, which are also suitable for horseback riding. The most sought-after trails lead to the greenbelt’s most popular natural attraction, Helen Hunt Falls on North Cheyenne Creek. It can also be reached by car. Another waterfall called “Silver Cascade” is located a kilometer from this place, on the stream of St. Mary. It has an unusual spout shape and shoots water jets up to 3 meters.

Rock climbing is also possible in the park with prior permission. In addition, in its most picturesque corners there are numerous picnic areas. Before a walk, be sure to stop by the Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center to get acquainted with a small exhibition about the history, geology, flora and fauna of the park.

Michael Garman Museum & Gallery

This one-of-a-kind place to visit in Colorado Springs is dedicated to the work of sculptor Michael Garman, who spent more than 50 years creating vivid, collective images of America’s heroes, firefighters, policemen, soldiers, cowboys, aviators and others. For many years, he explored the country by hitchhiking and embodied the experience and impressions gained in his works.

The most exciting exhibit at the Michael Garman Museum & Gallery is an unusual sculptural theater called Magic City. Its streets, buildings and characters are as realistic as possible and are made on a scale of 1:6. The use of holograms and mirror illusions makes the city live and change right before the viewer’s eyes. You can spend hours looking at everyday scenes created by the sculptor, which seem simple and understandable only at first glance. Each character has a story behind it. And, perhaps, you will want to come here more than once to find out all of them.

Admission to the museum for children under 6 years old is free, and young visitors from 7 to 12 years old receive a discounted ticket. Its cost includes popcorn and the Scavenger Hunt quest.

Red Rock Canyon Open Space

Red Rock Canyon Open Space is an unusual and picturesque park on the western edge of Colorado Springs, whose landscapes can compete with the famous rocky horizons of Arizona and Utah. It was laid out in 2003 on the territory of reclaimed quarries and got its name from a series of long narrow ridges of red sandstone, located in parallel.

Its unusual landscape has created more than a dozen excellent trails of varying difficulty for walking, horseback riding, mountain biking and conventional biking. There are even special locations for walking dogs without a leash. In winter, when there is enough snow, this area is used by cross-country skiers. There are also about 80 climbing routes in the park, but in order to access them, you must register at the Visitor Center on the territory of the Garden of the Gods, which is located nearby.

At the entrance to Red Rock Canyon there is a freeride area available for both professionals and beginners. And in the lower part of the park there is a picnic area with beautiful views.

Ghost Town Museum

When looking for things to do in Colorado Springs with kids, don’t forget to plan a trip to the Ghost Town Museum. It will be an exciting family journey to the origins of Colorado history. Under the roof of the museum are collected authentic buildings and artifacts from the cities that existed during the gold rush in the Pikes Peak region. They flourished in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and then, when the reserves of the precious metal were depleted, they were abandoned and fell into decay.

Visitors can walk along a real wooden pavement, enter buildings and explore the life of people of that time. At the same time, museum guests do not have to be passive observers, because a lot of entertainment awaits them. Anyone can try their hand at working at an old oil mill. Kids will love the shooting range and antique arcade games. But the main entertainment is panning for gold according to the method of the first prospectors in Colorado. This quest is available from May to September on a special panoramic platform.

You should also visit the gift shop, one of the most unusual in the state. It sells snacks, sweets and various interesting and fun things in the style of the 1800s.

Memorial Park

Memorial Park is a multipurpose public space. There are many sports facilities here: tennis courts, baseball, softball and football fields, hockey and volleyball courts, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym for professional and family fitness, an Olympic velodrome, an ice center, a skate park and much more.

The site also includes Prospect Lake, which is surrounded by a paved path. Here you can fish, ride kayaks and motor boats. The beach is open during the summer. For children, 3 beautiful playgrounds are organized on the territory, one of which is fully accessible for small visitors with disabilities.

Since 1977, Memorial Park has been home to the largest balloon festival in the state of Colorado, which celebrates Labor Day. This spectacle attracts thousands of visitors.

Rocky Mountain Food Tours is a special program for connoisseurs of the good food that Colorado Springs is famous for.
