About the Provider

Description: Northside Hospital Child Development Center is dedicated to supporting employees and associates by providing a developmentally appropriate program for children. We recognize that a child’s early years provide the foundation for later development. A young child, therefore, needs time to participate in experiences that provide a secure foundation for the future. Development is a truly fascinating and wonderful phenomenon and should not be accelerated or skipped. Each period of a child’s development should be allowed to evolve according to the individual child.

The program provides each child an individualized curriculum implemented by highly trained and experienced, caring adults. This curriculum is based on the philosophy that learning develops through play, which is the primary vehicle through which children learn. Play is an avenue for self-expression and for organization of the world. We believe that learning occurs when children are actively involved with people and materials in their environment. Such learning is facilitated in a loving, home-like atmosphere that provides a variety of challenging but non-stressful activities and materials.

Our program provides an atmosphere that emphasizes understanding and acceptance of all children and families where differences are understood, respected, encouraged, and mediated when necessary.

Adebiyi Eze, Nigeria

congenital hernia surgery

Regular medical checkups are very important for children During this consultation, we received word that my son had what was an inguinal hernia. I tried very hard to avoid surgery and sought to cure the condition with medication, but it was impossible. In the end, we had to go to a child specialist in Nigeria who connected us to Tour2India in India for surgery. According to the consultant physician, surgery was the only way out. Unfortunately, he suffered from various associated hernia symptoms such as abdominal swelling, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and pain. Thus, I had to muster up the courage and go ahead with the discussion with the Tour2India team and fixing the appointment for the operation. A professional was assigned to contact me and we had long conversations until we finally fixed up an appointment for surgery. The team suggested India’s best hernia surgeon and I finally agreed to take my son to India on the suggested date. When I reached India, I was surprised to see that all arrangements had been made precisely for the comfort of my son. Eventually, on the final date, the operation was performed and he was hospitalized for two days after several days of intensive care. The surgery was successful, and even today, after about 9months, my son is in the best state of his health, enjoying life. Many thanks to Team Tour2India for their support and guidance for perfect health.

Key elements, template, and example

Writing a resume for a recent graduate can be challenging, especially if you have limited professional experience and are applying for your first job. Graduates of occupational therapy programs typically have extensive educational and clinical experience, which can help build a strong resume and secure a position. If you are an occupational therapy graduate, there are several important elements that you should include on your resume. In this article, we will explain why a resume is important for new occupational therapy graduates, what elements to include in a resume, and provide a resume template and example.

Why is an occupational therapist’s resume important for a beginner?

The field of occupational therapy can be competitive, especially for recent graduates seeking their first professional role. Some recent graduates with limited professional experience outside of the field face the challenge of putting together a robust resume that will properly demonstrate their skills and competencies. Because of this, it’s important for recent graduates to take resume writing seriously and see it as an opportunity to stand out from other job candidates.

Most occupational therapist resumes follow the industry standard format, in which key elements such as education, clinical experience, and work experience before others are presented in reverse chronological order. Therefore, writing an effective resume that meets industry standards and demonstrates your understanding of professional references as a new graduate is vital. Successfully achieving these goals will help you get the attention of hiring managers, get interviews, and secure a position.

Occupational Therapist Resume Elements

If you have recently completed an occupational therapy course, you should include various important elements in your resume. Below are some of these items, in the order they should appear on your resume:

  • Contact Information: Your contact information should be listed at the top of your resume so that hiring managers can quickly find your name, phone number, email address, and location. It’s helpful to make contact information bold so that hiring managers can easily find it.

  • Career Goal: The main body of your resume should begin with a career goal that explains your specific professional goals. Writing a career goal is an opportunity for recent graduates to share their accomplishments, talk about their education, and describe their professional commitments.

  • Education: As a recent graduate, your education is important and should be listed at the very beginning of your resume. You must provide details of your Master’s and Bachelor’s programs, which institution you attended, dates of attendance, certificates of honor, and your GPA.

  • Awards and achievements: After your education, you should list all relevant awards and achievements. As an occupational therapy student, you have likely done research at some point in your educational career, so you may want to include poster presentations and published articles along with other awards, scholarships, and grants.

  • Clinical Experience: Your clinical experience is an important element of your resume as a recent graduate of an occupational therapy program. Plan to include details of both Level 1 and Level 2 field experience. List the institution where you worked, the dates of the field work, the department or specialty where the field work was carried out, and in a few paragraphs describe your responsibilities and accomplishments for each experience.

  • Additional Work Experience: If you have held any positions outside of clinical experience, you may include details of those roles as well. Work in positions not related to occupational therapy is allowed, especially as a recent university graduate. This will showcase your diverse skill set and show your commitment to professionalism and hard work as a student.

  • Participation in Volunteer and Community Activities: During your time at school, you likely gained experience in community life, whether volunteering or otherwise. You can list this experience at the end of your resume. If you have more than three or four volunteer experiences, try to include those that are most relevant to your future role as an occupational therapist.

  • License Status: At the end of the resume, include information about your occupational therapist license status and the date you received or applied for a license. Recent graduates must pass the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam and apply for a license from their local state government to practice in the field.

  • Skills: You can include a skills section at the very end of the resume listing technical and basic skills, but this section is usually optional for occupational therapists. It may be helpful to include a Skills section if your resume does not take up a full page because you have limited professional experience as a recent graduate.
