Children’s nurses provide care for children and young people from birth to 18 years of age in a variety of settings. This role includes health promotion and disease minimization in collaboration with families. In nursing care for children, working with the family and taking into account their needs is a must. Moreover, pediatric nurses work in collaboration with a range of professionals to meet the specific needs of children, young people and their families, wherever they are cared for.
You will complete a series of quality internships to develop your nursing skills under the supervision of supportive practitioners. At the end of the first year of study, there is an opportunity to take a national or international optional module.
In our state-of-the-art simulation facilities, our pediatric nursing students can continue to develop the skills needed to care for children and families in a safe environment that closely mimics the medical environment (hospital and home). Family role play is central to this learning experience. At the end of your first year of study, you will have the opportunity to take a national or international elective module.
This course gives you the theoretical knowledge and practical experience you need to register as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Assessment methods include academic skills, assessed through essays, exams, posters, and reports, and clinical skills, assessed in our simulation suites and by practice leaders or experts in practice sessions.
